tbqh, the budget was under 100 million.
budget was 150 million. add another 50 mill for marketing.

Charmander > Bulbasaur > Squirtle
Charmeleon > Ivysaur > Wartortle
Venusaur > Blastoise > Charizard
150 actually.
So at 400 million it did enough to make a profit but was ultimately not that successful imo. Yea Forums and its unending butthurt toward the MCU irrevocably BTFO though
bulbasaur is the best starter because you can steamroll the first two gyms
The film succeeded in the only way it was ever meant to succeed: a market test for a big budget game/anime/whateveritturnsouttobe adaptation.

I am surprised it didnt do more. Is Pokemon just not that popular anymore?
pokemon is piss easy regardless
>bulbasaur is the best because he's only useful early in the game and then becomes irrelevant.
Charmander stomps both other starters with his MegaEvo alone. Real chads just grab a Metapod-->Buterfree to deal with the first two gyms.
The plot fell apart in the later acts, the black kid was unappealing (although the actor did a great job of seeming genuinely autistic). Other than that it was a good movie. The Pokemon battle content was great and I wish they would have done a Pokemon trainer movie instead.
Nope. Squirtle not only BTFOs Brock, it is useful further in the game.
pokemon is the most successful media franchise in the world. it's worth billions. ironic the IP is split between 3 different companies
hopefully disney never buys it. screencap this because in 20 years they probably will offer Nintendo/Gamefreak/Creatures a billion dollars each for movie productions and distribution rights for all seasons and past movies on Disney +
Disney is buying everything and will continue to do so. nothing can stop the mouse. not even pokemon
The japanese gave the rights to Legendary, a CHINESE company to keep pokemon away from the jewish hands of hollywood.
>the black kid was unappealing (although the actor did a great job of seeming genuinely autistic).
I felt the same, the actor wasn't the problem, but what they do with him.
i got some bad news for you son, everything is for sale.
Pokemon was for sale, it was the biggest bidding war since harry potter, and Legendary got the rights. Just as Godzilla, both movies are Chink "blockbusters" (WB only does distribution in some markets), that's why american "critics" wanted those movies to fail, they are the spearhead of the end of american hegemony on stupid action movies.
things can always be resold
>add only 30% for marketing
with an IP that popular they didn't need to spend 50 mill on marketing
a movie like this was release a little late don't you think? most people who grew up with this are in their late 20's-early 30's and have moved on to more adult themed things like capeshit
Go back
What is this supposed to mean?
...
>add six gorillion dollars to whatever post production cause I arbitrarily ascribe it to
I absolutely love this meme
Sure. Bit nobody wanted to see a buddy cop movie about a talking Pikachu as far as Pokémon movies go.
I can't even remember which faction of Yea Forums is btfo by this, the narrative has been lost through so many levels of shitposting and REEEEing
I doubt Disney can afford it, Nintendo knows they could milk a minimum of $50-70 billion out of them for everything since the MCU just ended and Star Wars is a downward slope.
Both the MCU and Star Wars are gonna stay extremely profitable for the foreseeable future.
On this day and age 300-400 million worldwide is a fucking flop. Just like Dumbo, Aladdin or Basedlo
Afetr the mcu iron man era and the fall of star wars also signing brie larson to 7 movie deal and take a few years of break from nu-wars will not help disney. And any other fox property as been milk dry.
Tim Goodman is a generic emotionless video game NPC, the movie turned him into much more than that.
Star War has recovered from far worse and the MCU has shown that people just don't get tired of it. I don't see either of these franchises going anywhere.
>he thinks this is how hollywood works
the movie had a budget of 393,490,093
Left: soulless
Right: soul
Bulbasaur BTFOs the first 3 gyms, and starters become less important the further you go through the game
And seems like it's still doing better than Godzilla's predicted boxoffice run.
Man, WB really had a shit run so far huh?
You can't just throw out numbers with no context. As long as these movies break even (and even when they dont), somebody is washing money or hiding it in production costs. Only real "flops" are the films financed with personal money/passion projects.
no movie has ever broken even that's why people make gross profit contracts instead of net profit contracts
Yea Forums is always wrong
Nigger MC but no Mouse to buy tickets.
HOW THE FUCK DID IT BOMB?!!!
ITS FUCKING POKEMON
it just wasn't that good
Passing floplita soon
