After rewatching them I'd say The First Avenger is actually better; it's more well-rounded and polished, and has a better main antagonist.

Winter Soldier is good but still has some glaring issues and plot holes, and it has that "established MCU" vibe of quips being shoehorned in all over the place that's mostly absent from First Avenger.

Both Guardians of the Galaxy can be seen as fun heart warming sci-fi comedic adventures.

Winter Soldier is the best stand alone film because its more of a basic action film set in a superhero setting. Cap isn't in his basic looking armor most of the time and as long as you know the basic story of captain america (super soldier from WW2 stuck in ice) its going to be a fun to watch.

I was hoping to see Captain America taking a bus and getting crazy because blacks were sitting in the front rows...

Some of it is ok, but overall it's really "corny". That wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact that it was sold as a "serious" superhero flick. It's like the producers/filmmakers behind it didn't even know what they were doing/going for

I remember watching this for the first time and wondering how they were ever going to incorporate characters like a talking racoon and tree into the original avengers' universe because this movie seemed decently realistic. 5 years later Cap introduced himself to Groot and Rocket is a member of Cap's Avengers.

Its because the interactions between Cap and Black Widow are fun, as they have contrasting personalities. The other films just shoehorn every superhero together they have no time to actually bond with each other
