It's not like you can treat the second one as a standalone movie anyway.
Every movie that tries to do the empire strikes back style ending forgets that ESB wraps itself up nicely, except for han kind of dangling out there, but otherwise it was pretty self contained, just ends on a down note.
Pirates 2 just kind of stops mid scene killing jack, only to bring him back in the opening sequence of the next movie.

The first had by far the best story. It even touched on being a bit deep with Jack using his special bullet on Barbosa. Nothing ground breaking but had some soul. The rest were just visually cool sometimes.
