Now The Revenant. That was amazing.
SneedMan Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Chuck)
I identify with Riggan's character very much, which is in part why I think the film is a great character study on perfectionism, and being subjected to criticism/judgement as an artist, most of the time by individuals who probably know nothing of art or who have never put 'themselves out there' to be faced with scrutiny and be brought into a position of vulnerability. People like to call this film pretentious (I've noticed it's mostly redditors and underage b&s who are far too young to have ever achieved anything in life), and that makes perfect sense to me, as to why they think that way about it. You can't possibly see the "substance" apparent in this film without being aware what the film is trying to say, when you have never done anything with your life or have strived for anything.
It was pretentious
