The soldiers didn't seem unreasonable or stupid or overly BOO YEAH - griffin was cute, barnes was a bro, foster was willing to leave her ace combat superplane long enough to lead a raid head-on, Serizawa was actually a character this time, Chen was nice and I liked her being a nod to the shobujin, Sam grew on me, and Stanton was... there.

Because as much as I hate to admit it in this atmosphere I actually still like the 2014 movie.

Now, don't get me wrong, it has GLARING flaws, and it's not NEARLY as good as Kong or KotM, but I still enjoyed it, and still like it. I'll still gladly get a box set of all these movies when one comes out. But I still vividly remember the first time I saw those blue dorsal fins lighting up and heard that sound, and I cannot hate that movie. There was a chunk in the middle that was dull but I liked it from beginning to cranston's death, and all the scenes with the monsters. That still accounts for maybe half the movie.

In three days it made back the money invloved in producing it. When it finishes up it will make its money back and earn a little bit. Besides the only reason it earned so little was because of the numerous blockbusters.

Not a secret that streaming and internet accessibility is killing the kinoplex. Boxoffice is down again this year compared to last and its gotten progressively worse since 2017 which was a 25 year low. And has been trending down for even longer. Some special occasions like avengers endgame exist, but for the vast majority, cinema is on the steep decline and has been for a long time.
