Back then I marathoned (for real, not like the meme) first the original and then the sequel and can confidentially say that the sequel is much better, or the original aged terribly.

This. Tron Legacy had a great OST and ambience but the choreography was meh and the writing was mediocre at best.

Uprising at least lets us get a clue of the day-to-day. The Grid could've worked well as a general setting.

It's a shame that Disney didn't believe in the franchise and cancelled the show, Uprising was a pretty good piece of science fiction. Perhaps it was too smart for their usual audience.

Agreed. The original is a cool demo reel of graphics at the time, but it's boring.

Legacy is a flawed gem in that it was torn in tow between what Disney wanted (a lowest-common-denominator franchise to sell merch to children), and a brooding intimate modern myth of a son traveling to the underworld to rescue his father, with a few spectacular set pieces thrown in for good measure.

I was at first disappointed that we would never get a proper 3/ending, but in retrospect, I don't think actually seeing what comes to pass would ever live up to expectations. We leave Sam right as he chooses to continue his father's legacy, with the world-changing piece of iso poon straddling his Ducati and nuzzling his shoulder. So much hope and opportunity ahead of them both. If we got to see a moment more, in some future film, it probably would have all fallen apart.

And DAMN can Kosinski&Co design some comfy spaces.

They had a battery pack on the back of their suits that they would replace throughout shooting. It's the vertical brick you see under their discs in the pic attached

Yep, Tron Legacy and Oblivion are absolute masterclasses in art design, set design and scoring. I hate the way people seem to think the story is everything in a film. The visual and audio aspects of Kosinski's films more than make up for the mediocre script

Anons shit on the lack of (story) but it's just a simple sequel to a 80s movie that does its own thing.
It doesn't try to be the matrix or whatever these drongos shitting on it expect Tbqh I think it's a great movie the cgi is ground breaking almost a decade later as well apart from clus face which is better now
