Fuck godzilla niggers. You ruined godzilla.

Unironically based OP, I always wanted a sequel to that kino.
>Being so deluded you think this is a real girl. Hate to break it to you this is photoshopped and cgied to hell and back
There's a treatment floating around and it's actually kino. It not being made is a crime against humanity. Could do with a better enemy monster but it's just a treatment.
What goes through the minds of people who makes posts like this?
A higher than average IQ
For real, break whatever character you're playing for a bit and answer honestly. Did you make this thread so you could screencap it, or in the hopes that something you could screencap would happen? Are you trying to astroturf a new meme which you could then cultivate and repost for upvotes or whatever?
Okay, so it's just the usual reddit epic meme shitpost routine.
The new godzilla movie is insubstantial, boring, and has terrible looking effects. 1998 deals with real themes of nuclear fallout and environmentalism just like the original, is fun to watch and still has top tier effects work that blows anything 2010+ out of the water. It still is the most succesful monster movie adjusted for inflation, was the most rented home video for over a decade, and the sequel would have delved even deeper into the man vs nature dilemma, and also featured a giant monster fight, and atomic breath like all the fanboys were clamoring for. It deserved to be made. The only problem was retarded godzilla fans who don't understand godzilla and just want to see muh rubber suits.
Wannabe ReviewScrew. You'll never be as funny as the real thing because you lack the genuine conviction in his retarded opinions and the absurd aggression with which he forces them. You'll probably never have near the same dedication to samefagging as him either. Try something else.
I'm not trying to be funny. It's the truth. The only thing that's funny is the amount of cope you display.
Why are you still keeping up the act?
There is no act. There is only you coping by wishing it was.
Come on now, there's no need for it anymore. The illusion was broken from the start. Your routine was dead on arrival. You know what you're doing, I know what you're doing, and you know that I know what you're doing. I don't know whether you hoped for this to be some new hilarious ironic meme or some epic troll, but it isn't either of those things. It's just sad. Just try being real for once. You might like it.
Cope.
I knew you'd just double down on the Yea Forums-style shitposts, but it's still really disappointing.
The movie is good. Deal with it.
I'm sorry to tell you kid, but this just ain't gonna take off.
There was one planned but 9/11 killed it. By the time the heat died down it was too late to do another.
Was alot more fun that the Legendary flicks we got. Also it was smart to pattern it after the Ultraman template.
I really liked this zilla, much faster and very clever
>we don't get a sequel to this god teir soundtrack
>That's a lot of fish!
we can be heroes, user, just for one day!
I forced myself to slog through the jap godzillas and most were shit. Godzilla 98 remains my favorite.
yes we saw the review that unfunny hack did a decade ago
THERE'S A PLACE I'D LIKE TO GO
Is it true that the Japanese Toho people really liked the animated series?
I completely agree with you.
The Godzilla 98 soundtrack was peak 90s and kino as fuck.
Well there we have it ladies and gentlemen. We've reached the "Godzilla 1998 is a good Godzilla movie despite being outright character assassination of the titular character" levels of contrarian faggotry.
>contrarian faggotry.
Classic Godzilla fans are far more guilty of that.
I hate that the retards of my age group are now posting shit like this. Let me guess, you think the Star Wars prequels are good?
>Let me guess, you think the Star Wars prequels are good?
Sorry Pegg, you've been left in the dust.
Puristfags need to fuck off. Godzilla 98 was a SUPREMELY COMFY film.
Godzilla (1998) was a good movie that was faithful to the themes of the original.
Based and truthpilled! I completely agree with you.
The Star Wars prequels, despite their flaws, were unironically good. They massively expanded the lore and kept the franchise alive and culturally relevant for over a decade. Also, the planets and aliens in the prequel trilogy are much more creative than the planets and aliens in the sequel trilogy. The prequels provided me with the most enjoyable escapism experiences I've had in theaters.
This is what puristfags don't understand. Just because Godzilla 98 changed Godzilla's design to make him look more like a dinosaur and didn't feature his atomic design doesn't mean shit, since it stayed true to the anti-nuclear-weapons and pro-environmentalism themes of the original Godzilla movies.
Also the breath was a reaction against the overuse and beam spamming of the Heisei era. The idea was that in sequels Godzilla and his opponents would tear into each other like wild beasts.
* atomic breath
True. Godzilla 98 decided to do things differently and kaijukinos are all the richer for it.
I remember watching AOTC and had escapist fantasies about leaving the theater. I was 7 and still thought that movie was fucking awful.
I liked AOTC, but I think it's the weakest of the prequels. ROTS is the best prequel movie.
Roland Emmerich was the perfect flick director to do a western Godzilla. All of his movies do a surprisingly good job balancing screen time of disaster porn, the human story, and government response. Only reason people didn't like this is because Godzilla didn't look like some manlet in a rubber suit,.
It was looked at like a bad Jurassic Park knockoff with no substance. JP and The Lost World were fresh in the public’s mind and they already got burned on ID4 so it’s no wonder this shit wasn’t well received. Your nostalgia doesn’t make it good.
Reminder that legendary only made $49 million at the box office. That’s only 1/3 of what 1998 made.
It touched me deeply when Matthews Broderick looked at the monster on the Brooklyn bridge
>character assassination
no. but that's exactly what these new films do
>It touched me deeply when Matthews Broderick looked at the monster on the Brooklyn bridge
Me too. It also touched me deeply when Godzilla 98 closed his eyes for the last time. I was only 10 when Godzilla 98 came out and watching it for the first time is such a fond memory I have of my childhood, but I love Godzilla 98 for more than just nostalgia reasons. Godzilla 98 had a heart and a soul.
>ID4
>burned
waht
they do a callback to that in the prologue for the sequel. it would have been so kino.
>and they already got burned on ID4
ID4 was well received on it's release
>ID4
Nigger, are you kidding me? ID4 was the highest-grossing film of 1996 and widely enjoyed by audiences worldwide.
>faithful to the themes of the original
>The metaphor for the unstoppable power of atomic weaponry flees from guns and is killed by missiles
Fuck off
simpleton
For those of us actually old enough to remember this supreme trainwreck, and not the (you) kiddies itt, lets recall the utter detonated shitbomb that was everything about this movie
>Advertisments a year in advance, including SIZE DOES MATTER being scrawled on buses, billboards and up buildings hyping up everyone
>Every kind of promo tie-in you could imagine
>Toy line at the ready
>Music video with puff daddy
>World premier at Madison Square Garden, attended by everyone hot at the time, even Muhummad Ali
>Movie comes out
>Is hated by everyone
>Words don't do justice to how much this film was hated and laughed at by literally everyone
>At the Tokyo premier one of the original godzilla actors walks out in disgust, and rightfully so
>Sequels cancelled
>Later when the DVD is released, neither Emmerich, Devlin or any of the film’s stars even bother doing commentary
>Golden Rasberry Awards, Golden Rasberry Awards everywhere
>Years later, Zilla is BTFO in Final Wars, never to return again
This movie was an event. A monumental catastrophe of film. G.I.N.O got fucked about as hard as that building did. Jesus, even 21 years later I'm still dumbfounded. What the fuck were they thinking
How so? Godzilla is faithfully portrayed.
Explain yourself, retard.
I'm not denying it, I like it as a movie, it was good and I never got the hate for the elements besides Godzilla. Should have made it a 20,000 leagues remake and it'd be golden. Zilla is not Godzilla.
godzilla isn't a nuclear bomb, he's a force of nature brought about by the actions of man, one that we can neither fully live with, but must also eventually accept. the sequel would have dealt with that more, which is why it's such a shame it never got made.
Why would they need to tear into eachother like wild beasts when the military can gun them down with hilarious ease?
>Is hated by everyone
then why did it make so much money? and kept making money?
you're a vocal minority who ruin true art because you want to hump a guy in a rubber suit
>Toy line at the ready
Where's the toy line of KOTM? Exactly! And nobody gives a shit!
like 2/3rds of the films action scenes is the military blowing up new york because they get outsmarted by a lizard. try actually watching it.
>>Sequels cancelled
Got two seasons of the animated series. Would have had a live action sequel if not for 9/11.
>he's a force of nature
That's a heisei era retcon
It's not hard to be outsmarted when you're as dumb as that military.
it's worth noting that at the time of the film france was still doing nuclear testing in polynesia, it was super topical with that shit
There is no contingency plan in the military for fighting kaiju.
Don't aim slightly to the side of it would be a start. Also don't let it just vanish, I hate to quote NC on this but it's a giant lizard how do you lose track of it?
I know it’s bait, but on the off chance some retard stumbles across the thread and takes it seriously, dealing with themes in no way makes a movie good by default.
Pretty much. I mean, it's somewhat entertaining and I like the sleek design of the creature but some aspects of the film feel so mailed in it's incredible, such as an E-5 seemingly having the responsibilities of a Captain or a Major just to name one.
But being fun to watch, well made, and not dumb does.
>not dumb
THEY LOST TRACK OF A 60 METERS TALL BEAST IN MANHATTAN
Yeah because it's fast and smart and not taller than the buildings. You really must be fucking retarded mate.
>then why did it make so much money? and kept making money?
379m on a 130m budget, deduct a years worth of everywhere-you-look advertising, cinema cuts, maybe it made a small profit. Not that that helped
>you're a vocal minority who ruin true art because you want to hump a guy in a rubber suit
What kind of reality do you live in where anyone, anywhere, ever, considers Building Rapist T-Rex 2: Electric Raptor Baby Boogaloo a peice of art?
Argue it as much as you want. The movie is forever known as garbage, hated by the vast majority of godzilla fans, hated by Toho, and only vaguely remembered by the general public for negative reasons. Deal with it faggot
completely deluded fanboy
Damn the amount of contrarianism ITT is off the charts.
The Legendary series wasn't made to move toys, there was nothing for '14 or Skull Island either
At most there's "collector's" stuff like the SH Figuarts but nothing on the level of toys '98 got
>in my world, Godzilla '98 is a beloved classic, cherished by all
It was generally well received by the silent majority. Normal ordinary people who just go to watch movies and don't review bomb or freak out or overreact to movies like you're doing right now. Only dumb fanboys do that.
I’m not falling for this aids bait
>actually defending godzilla 1998
user..
God I loved that shit.
Had the Trendmasters toy, made it fight against beast wars transformers and other stuff like in the show
G1998 was peak 90's blockbuster kino but that shit had nothing to do with Godzilla. I'm still mad we will never get the DeBont's project.
>but that shit had nothing to do with Godzilla
Not to mention various companies closed due to holding back the toyline until the premiere to not spoil the design.
The movie bombed and there was a shitload of toys that never sold. That's pretty much why you don't get a lot of Godzilla or even big toylines tie-in, just because of this movie.
It's closer to American movies monster from the 50's than Godzilla.
The fact he's killed by US "FUCK YEAH" Military is enough proof that it isn't Godzilla.
>US "FUCK YEAH" Military
did you even watch the movie?
Godzilla(1998) only made like 44m domestic opening weekend. You're a goddamned liar.
I doubt that it made money once the marketing campaign is factored in. I remember how much marketing they did for that movie.
At least this guy is honest.
I liked it as a little kid, but I couldn't even get through it as an adult. The whole thing feels like you're watching some cheap two bit improv group. Which makes me sad to say because I liked how Godzilla looked in it and had his action figure and everything.
I get the whole environmentalism and nuclear angle but the themes kind of get lost in the shuffle especially when the entire movie is a horribly unfunny mess.
Godzilla stand for many things, not just pro-environment or anti-nuclear.
Godzilla mean God Incarnated, it hard to call the 98 monster that since it die to 2 missile. Godzilla representing nature, a force that no human power could defeat, except for the US military.
As opposed to the original Godzilla getting killed by the "FUCK YEAH" Japanese military
Do people really pretend to hate the 1998 godzilla film?
It was unironic kino
No, the original didn' t get kill by the military. It was killed by a super weapon invented by a cyclop scientist who afraid of using it cause if the world know about it, people will want to use it and it will create more problem. Like the atomic bomb.
What is it with Yea Forums and suddenly praising shit parts of a franchise whenever a sequel comes out?
and now go rewatch 1998 godzilla or any disaster film from the 90s and they are literally 100x better than the disaster movies and monster movies made today
>original Godzilla
>killed by the "FUCK YEAH" Japanese military
But that doesn't happen in that movie.
Contrarianism
he was killed by the oxygen destroyer you enormous faggot
Boring people can only get attention by pretending to be retarded.
It’s a bit pathetic really.
I thoroughly enjoy the film up until Godzilla disappears and the action shifts into a dollar-store Jurassic Park with zilla's babies. Jesus christ, does that part drag on.
And the worst part is that Godzilla returns only to be part off a lame chase scene and then dies like a bitch.
The scene of Godzilla coming up from the Pier is awesome and the rest of the movie just keeps falling flatter and flatter by comparison. Especially the baby chase sequence. Even as a kid, I was bored. It's basically just proto-Cloverfield with an actual budget and crying Matthew Broderick.
Same thing
No it isn’t. Serizawa goes underwater and becomes an hero to kill Godzilla with the oxygen destroyer.
K I N O
I'm so pissed that Godzilla 2 didn't get made.
I was 8 or 9 when it came out and I was so excited for it. Even more so when I got it on VHS for my birthday. But even at my young age, I was dumbfounded about why Godzilla was creating zerglings.
You are correct. The average movie-goer in America doesn't give a shit about whether or not Godzilla 98 was faithful to the original, they just wanted some fun, action-packed escapism and that's what they got. Godzilla 98 was a joy for me to watch and for many other people to watch too, that's why it made a lot of money for its time.
I still have that toy to this day, man. Good times!
