Just watched Season 1 of this... good god, what the fuck happened to HBO?

I know. It started going to shit around 1999.
Dylan Peterson
They are cranking out Chernobyl right fucking now.
Robert King
Sopranos, Rome, Deadwood, Carnavale; HBO went on quite a streak. Pity they cancelled everything so early.
The last show I really liked was Luck and that barely made it a season
Cameron Martin
Don't even bring it up. Now that GoT has ended and people are getting bored of shitting on it (rightfully so) they moved on and decided to shit on Chernobyl because that's all they know how to do.
Dylan White
Fantastic show. Everyone said "fuck" every other word and everyone was killing everyone else. Much writing, such smart.
Michael Cooper
>REEE TOXIC!!
WHAT U JUST SAID
Ryan Rodriguez
That was the true "Golden Age of Television"
Nolan Watson
Cocksuckers kept sucking cocks
Andrew Wood
>imagine being this gay
Doc Cochran is perhaps one of the greatest tv characters of all time and he doesn't commit a single act of violence.
Sebastian Sullivan
This shows first season is pretty bomb as fuck
Julian Young
Doc is so based.
The monologue he gave re: the Civil War was fucking powerful.
Adrian Ross
the movie was shit dont bother. the series is better off without it
Angel Parker
It was serviceable
Jaxson Walker
i also just started watching this show. i remember the promos for it when it came out but never saw it. starting season 2 now. pretty good so far.
Gavin Taylor
season 3 is a disaster and the movie is even worse
quit while you are ahead
John Myers
S3 has too many unnecessary side plots and characters but I liked it alot. Although, the last episode doesn't follow through at all on the buildup and the climax just fizzles out. I haven't seen the movie yet but I hope it's a better end to the show.
Charles Kelly
this
>muh shock value
Ryder Lopez
What was the point of the new prostitute in the movie?
Jeremiah Wright
Based. Doc was always my favorite. Dourif is a powerful actor.
Hudson Cooper
>decide to watch movie
>literally first scene is an ugly lesbian whinging about her lover
Wow, this show should have stayed dead.
Sebastian Clark
Dialate.
Matthew Taylor
Any reason that the last song that Jewel sings was an Australian bush anthem that wasn't even written at that time?
David Morales
So Swedgin and the guy who was in love with Jen (the prostitute who died to fool Hearst) could confide in her. She was similar to Jen and an outsider to all the conflict.
Hunter Barnes

Is Hell on Wheels HBO?
Parker Evans
He slapped Merrick
Josiah Brooks
*AHEM*
Nathan Roberts
This list is way the fuck mixed up. Veep is a masterpiece and six feet under is a magnum opus? The young Pope is disappointing?
Your taste is absolutely fucked.
Ryan White
the leftovers was pretty recent and that was a 10/10 show
Sebastian Gray
al slapped him. brad told him he was fat and that's why his back hurt
Jonathan Fisher
nah it's amc like breaking bad, madmen and the walking dead
I wanted to like The Young Pope more than i did. I think Sorrentino is really clever but the show was less than the sum of its parts. There were some really great elements to it, but I didn't find the overarching story particuraly gripping, I don't think Jude Law's character is that interesting and suspension of disbelief for the whole thing is difficult. If you haven't seen My Brilliant Friend yet, he executive produced that as well, and it's a much better italian language hbo show. The first couple seasons of Gommorah are better too, that's not on hbo though.
And yeah, Veep & Six Feet Under are amazing. Suck my dick.
Levi Bell
why the hell did she choose to work for al? the bella union's right next door
Charles Jones
basically i think The Young Pope took itself either too seriously or not seriously enough
Zachary Jones
Be qt and slutty. Also, to show how far the town has come in that new young people are coming to live there and it's not just some outlaw mining camp anymore.
Liam Torres
Plebs don't realize it was just an R rated Gunsmoke or Bonanza.
Julian Morales
Fuck I hate your rankings. Every time you made a mistake i noticed your autism got worse as it went along. Seriously don't reproduce user.
James Thompson
what specifically bothers you
Dominic Powell
Cinemax should count too faggot so you missed Banshee, Warrior, Quarry, The Knick, Strike Back and Tales from the Tour Bus and I wanna punch you in the face you dumb nigger. Fuck you got bad taste. Other than knowing that Sorpranos, Wire, Rome and TD are masterpieces (and all normies know this) you are fucking autism.
Angel Williams
Oz is where it all started. Just sayin
Julian Phillips
You rate great shows too low and shitty shows too high. If you don't know that, that's the problem user.
Ryan Ross
if cinemax counts then Tales from the Tour Bus is in Extremely Good, Banshee is entertaining schlocky trash, Quarry & The Knick are Good but disappointing and i haven't seen the others.
I don't think it should count because it's just not the same standard. If those are your favorite shows it's because you enjoy trashier stuff.
Tales from the Tour Bus though, yeah, both seasons are hugely underrated gems.
Eli Phillips
Why would she choose the Bella Union over the Gem? The Gem has a greater reputation and Al's known as basically the most powerful guy in Deadwood.
Colton Walker
I haven't seen it for ages, but when i watched it, it seemed dated.
I don't think a premium drama shot entirely on a soundstage holds up. It all seems too insular and static. Kind of more like a sitcom than anything.
Aaron Walker
Oh man I guess I have to kinda respect your opinions but we can't be friends. That said I do wanna rewatch these shows now on my HBO Go account.
Tyler Garcia
Iv just started watching it too OP. Pure Kino.
Nathaniel Murphy
OZ and The Wire too m8.
Zachary Allen
One thing I've noticed with HBO shows like Deadwood is they really drop the payload at some point and just end anticlimactically. Happens all the time.
Michael Cruz
Sopranos and The Wire were as long as they needed to be. The latter even dropped off in the last season and arguably The Sopranos did too.
Zachary Carter
They've fallen for the sjw meme
Elijah Collins
>flight of the conchords that high
stopped reading there
Ian Adams
I have never talked to someone who has seen or even heard of flight of the conchords and doesn't love it
what is wrong with you
Samuel King
it's like you must be hollow inside or something
Adrian Jones
Where's Sex and the city?
Nicholas Turner
Not him, I've never watched it properly but I saw a clip posted some years back and it looked shit.
Henry Cox
Oz had a good premise but it became ridiculous quite quickly.
Jose Reed
maybe I just don't have a sense of humor but I found little redeeming in it. The characters are trash unlikable human beings and I had no reason to be interested in watching other than a few side characters.
Aaron Ramirez
Doc slapped him too though when Merrick came to Doc's cabin because he thought he had small pox but Doc just said he was a fat fuck.
Bentley Perez
Not that guy who responded to you but he has a point. Concords was major meme shit and of course normies at the time ate it up. If you've grown up out of Entourage tell me why you still respect Ali G and Concords then? Talk about hypocrisy here
Robert Gomez
>The latter even dropped off in the last season
the last season of The Wire was kino
Jack Miller
He didn't put that fag Cruising show either so I'm gonna assume he's not gay or a woman.
James Powell
I kinda like when stories just kind of end. It lets them continue in your head.
Samuel Fisher
You were correct in your assumption. His list is shit just by virtue of him being a Concords fan.
Juan Allen
>tell me why you still respect Concords then?
youtube.com
watch this song and tell me it isn't funny and sweet
Samuel Thompson
I thought the last few episodes were quite retarded and a few other things were a bit weird, but it was HBO's first show and its still pretty Kino.
One of the things I thought was weird was how a prisoner would kill someone, and very quickly he would be convicted and on death row, and a few months later would be put to death.
Where in reality, people sit on death row for 10+ years.
Eli Garcia
>Mr Bean
>HBO production
?
Jackson Lopez
There was only so many times you could have inmates kill each other in ludicrous ways. It made Superjail look realistic at some point.
Matthew Wood
I was born in New Zealand like the guys behind the show, and the show didn't do well at home. Was really weird Americanised humour.
Mason Price
Amerifats will never understand the humour.
Blake Powell
I just have never really seen it, so i'm not gonna make up an opinion based on nothing
Colton Hill
Kek I was wondering about that too. They crowd used to sing it at Australian rugby games. Felt weird hearing it on the show.
Brandon James
But he put Girls and True Blood, that's why I'm asking
Daniel Nguyen
it's because they are almost all episodic with no actual overarching plot or plan.
It's a pretty common theme with western television, shows have to be set up to just continue indefinitely if the ratings are high to make the most money rather than being a contained 1-2 season plot.
Ayden Rivera
that's nonsense, everyone here loved it and still likes them
don't come back
Jayden Ortiz
It's funny how Sopranos is a GOAT show when the first three seasons are completely forgettable until kino seasons 4-6.
Andrew Rogers
Yeah but ALL the HBO/Cinemax series are like that. It's pretty much a trope unto itself at this point. As a fan/viewer I've come to expect that but it's still disappointing and a rather lazy way for writers to end shit.
Bentley Ross
Horse shit cunt. No one liked that trash.
They are raging lefties too who think your current trainwreck of a leader is good too.
I don't want to come back. NZ is going to shit. How much does petrol cost you faggots now? 2.50$? How many more taxes has she introduced this year already?
Henry Harris
Try not to post ever again.
Jason Bailey
TB and Girls (memes aside) are watchable, it's just they begin to like the smell of their own shit at some point and most will probably drop them.
Mason Harris
>can't contain his /pol/ spergout
Please get help user.
Brandon Fisher
The Leftovers, Veep & Six Feet Under didn't just end
they cashed in all of their characters and time skip aged them
Lincoln Lee
kys Labour supporting faggot.
John Ortiz
i ride my bicycle mostly desu I don't give a fuck
Jeremiah Watson
I voted for the boating, camping and fishing party you retarded autist.
Easton Price
>youtube.com
>tfw no one will ever look at you like the qt in the black turtleneck at the front looks at brett
Dominic Hill
That wasn't funny, a bit sweet sure but not funny at all. This is the kind of thing idiots would call comfy because it's familiar despite not being much else.
Jordan Turner
which tv comedies do you like?
Tyler Walker
was babar ok?
Bentley Nguyen
Did any one else think the movie was lackluster? It felt like fan service with Bullock, and a let down with Al, he barely has any scenes and I didn't feel any empathy for him as there was no build up to his illness, he was just dying from the start of the film, it was also weird how Al was somewhat remorseful over killing the prostitute but never showed any remorse for the countless other people he murdered or had murdered by someone else
Christian Cruz
his mum dies
Christopher Price
and then he goes into the city and grows up to be a gentleman and king of the elephants
Blake Martin
It didn't feel like much more of an ending than the S3 finale.
Oh shit.
Charles Collins
That show was built to be a show. A movie was never going to satisfy. All it did is remind me of years of lost potential.
William Sanders
it's because she was innocent dumbass
Al was a piece of shit but he like many other sociopaths had a code about killing women/children
Ryan Bell
>had a code about killing women/children
I don't think he did considering he killed her.
Gabriel Hughes
The Thick of It, Only Fools and Horses, Frasier (not actually given Cheers a proper watch yet, but what I've seen of it hasn't impressed me as much), Blackadder, Wonder Showzen, Father Ted, Black Books, Santa Clarita Diet, and you know what I'll add Gilmore Girls, not the funniest ever and quite shallow and melodramatic but I liked it, come at me. For musical comedians Tim Minchin is GOAT youtube.com
Liam King
hbo should include a clause that gives them ultimate control of the show if a certain board of people agree it’s necessary
this sort of thing could have saved GoT
Caleb Reyes
yeah, they obviously sped up the death sentences a lot
What I found hard to believe was the sheer number of murders. American prisons are not a nice place to live, but come on - the mortality rate in OZ was closer to a World War I trench than a prison.
Camden Price
They do mention how Al spent time in Australia so maybe he heard it before it was recorded, but at the same time the writer's got fucking Alzheimer's so could just be that.
Dominic Brown
alright lol
John Peterson
Good on you for putting your taste out there, it's easy to criticise without putting up yourself. Although I do take your criticism of FOTC less seriously now.
Hunter Watson
>it's because she was innocent dumbass
Al literally hired road agents to slaughter families to rob them while making it look like the injuns did it, Al was a ruthless cunt who was purely about money
Gabriel Rivera
>disregard that I'm a cocksucka
David Jackson
How did they get away with saying n*gger and ch*nk?
Brandon Wright
Not him but i think Al also had an inferiority complex about being an outsider in society, and so killing 'normies' was morally just, but killing a prostitute was like killing another outsider, someone like him.
Joshua Nguyen
People wishing to seem younger and 'with it' (as in pretentious hipsters) is the only reason people like FotC ever gained popularity. They're the Juno of television.
Colton Harris
He committed verbal violence against Alma when he accused her of being an addict. He was a typical Victorian era chauvinist and there was nothing based about him
Hunter Cruz
That's fine user, I didn't take you seriously in the first place.
Isaac Garcia
>maybe he heard it before it was recorded
It was published locally in Australia in 1905, impossible for the song to be known to both Jewel and Al when Banjo Paterson only sang it locally in rural Queensland, even after being published it wouldn't even have been in a thing in America
Nathaniel Martinez
Being passive aggressive is a woman's thing, I guess that explains your taste in comedy.
Elijah Fisher
Nonsense, the same style of humor has proven itself to have broad mainstream appeal considering how popular Taika is. He directed some of FOTC and they've worked together a lot, Jermaine stars in his first feature, Eagle vs Shark, they did What we Do in the Shadows together, the film and the tv series (which is great).
It's not solely hipster fare. He did a fucking marvel film. That's the diametric opposite. Brett won an oscar for The Muppets. It's the opposite of pretentious.
Asher Torres
Sorpranos great
Wire great
Rome great
Six Feet Under great to ehhh
Ali G shit
True Detective great all seasons
Flight of the Concords shit
Extras great to ehhh

Quarry great
The Knick probably up there with Sorpranos Wire TD and Rome
Warrior ok so far but kinda ehhh
Sex and the City shit for chicks and can't even fap to it
Cruising oops Looking will literally give you AIDs
There those are my rankings. Fight me faggots
Jordan Roberts
But he killed "outsiders" all the time, like the Irish guy who he used to ruse Brom Garrett, all over the fear he might reveal Al was behind it all, Al never cared for any one but himself
James Campbell
have you really seen all of the same shows as me lol
Colton Collins
his rationalizations don't have to be rational or consistent
Benjamin Brown
>Al never cared for any one but himself
Are you retarded? The whole character of Al was a mean son of a bitch who had fleeting humanity underneath. They literally showed him crying when he was watching the pastor going insane because he was reminded of his brother
Hunter Bennett
Absolutely not. That kind of power would be abused. Imagine the Wire but instead of Bunk giving his, "Makes me sick motherfucker, how far we done fell," speech he tells Omar he's a victim of society. Imagine Six Feet Under but instead of going into the issues prevalent with the gay community they make David a perfect guy with no problems. Imagine what they would have done to Deadwood. GoT was already shit by season 4 or 5, ruining the future potential of other shows to try and salvage it would not remotely be worth it.
James Davis
Used to watch HBO on cable at my mom's, then rented or bought DVDs of the shows when I didn't have cable in my apartment with either my exes, brothers or roommates, now have Crave/HBOGo and watch whenever I don't watch Netflix pretty much so yeah.
Aaron Murphy
Inaccurately accusing people of doing something you yourself did is a woman's thing. Not being able to accept that someone dislikes a thing you like is a woman's thing. Get over yourself, faggot.
Thomas Young
The new movie is like a terrible parody of the old show, embarrassing
William Torres
I'm only going off the clip you've shown, and a 'sweet' song about a busdriver with flat jokes and a shit melody isn't really comparable to an adaptation of Planet Hulk.
Aaron Cruz
Well let's just say PLOT TWIST SPOILERS his mom dies he gets adopted by French woman and eventually becomes King of the Elephants so yeah SPOILERS END
Mason Scott
I like you
Aaron Morales
Mr.Wu should be a sheriff.
Gabriel Reed
Nobody who watches this much TV could possibly have good taste
Carter Sanchez
sneed
Evan Davis
The whole wild west aesthetics are very plain. I don't care about gritty dusty faggots with weird accents. I don't care who's the fastest retard with a revolver, or about Cowboys, their horses and their cows. They are just a dumb period of history and it's mostly Americans who are into them.
I've already watched Westworld. The Ballad of. Some classics. It's all very plain to me.
Should I watch it or it's more of the same bullshit?
Colton Myers
HENG DAI
David Turner
i feel much the same and yes it is more of the same
just like another mediocre fanservicey episode when you're not really invested in the series any longer
I have no idea why they even did it.
Some westerns are cool though. Spaghetti westerns like the dollars trilogy, space westerns like cowboy bebop, meme indie westerns like Meeks Crossing or The Assasination of Jessie James, straya westerns like The Proposition or Sweet Country and I do like some straight ones like Tombstone or Buster Scruggs or High Plains Drifters or The Searcher.
Westworld sucks though desu.
Jack Turner
Make me.
Jack Russell
>space westerns like cowboy bebop
*& Firefly
Isaiah Powell
Is this a pasta? If not good post.
Camden Hill
>boardwalk empire
>extremely good
The first couple of seasons, sure, but that shit dropped off so quick, was extremely disappointing by the end.
Thomas Butler
just as he should have her being such a coddled junkie whore so, so oppressed by being rich and having to actually adult and stuff before she wanted to but couldn't handle it and wasted all of his time every other day by pretending to have an ailment to get opiates
she should have been culled with the rest of the trash
the only thing she did was get lucky her husband she resented, for selfish reasons beyond even her own comprehension (just like Elsworth), got murdered on a big slab of gold
>have sex
just did
Carson Parker
I like the first 3 seasons of Entourage too. Except god damn episodes were 20 minutes sometimes. I recall one even being 19
Jacob King
I GOT A PLAN ARTHUR
Henry Clark
nope. thanks user
yeah but there was enough in there to love and i never seriously considered dropping it
kind of like game of thrones imo
Noah Barnes
eh you might be right, but I did end up dropping it like halfway into the last season. Didn't watch the two finals episodes of GoT either because I felt I knew where it was headed, and I got the summary I needed from the webms and pics posted here afterwards.
I might go back to boardwalk empire one day, though, and looking back I should have finished it for based buscemi alone. Doubt I'll ever go back to GoT.
Liam Richardson
>verbal violence
Charles Peterson
The architect of HBO kino shows was Chris Albrecht, it went to shit as soon as he left. Current execs have no idea what they're doing.
Alexander Hernandez
>Generation Kill
Underrated as fuck, and didn't outstay its welcome like most of the others.
Isaiah Stewart
what the fuck just how many hours did you dump on watching shitty tv flicks you goddamn retard
Parker Robinson
i respect you dropping game of thrones a lot lol
Alexander King
shitposting is no better use of time desu
Mason Wood
>Chris Albrecht
Now president of Starz. That explains Counterpart Season 1, but what about Season 2 when it shat the bed?
Chase Cox
Watch The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, and then watch Once Upon a Time in the West and then be done with westerns once and for all.
Gavin Howard
Didn't Gary Shandling Show and Curb take stabs at HBO in their episodes on cable television, like they got successful cause they happened to be lucky but otherwise they were pretty fucking dumb? Rome and GoT are testiments to this by ruining their best shows. When Jews criticize other Jews you know theres some truth there.
Dylan Lee
And Spartacus and Black Sails WERE good for a limited time in the series.
John Martinez
>what the fuck happened to HBO
The same thing that happened to every film and television studio. They implemented detrimental hiring quotas that did nothing but stifle creativity and hire people who only care about "diversity and representation".
Christian Diaz
fuckin based
Camden Ortiz
don't you like space westerns ?
cowboy bebop?
firefly?
Carter Kelly
>Boomer Actual ODs on sips
>Have Sex
>COMPED
10/fucking 10
John Evans
Haven't seen any up to the standards of the best of actual westerns.
Gabriel Carter
You dont like shows about trannies and suicidal frizzy haired mullatos? Shows about dykes?
Carson Morris
The Wire is about dykes lad
there's a plotline about gay adoption
Daniel Moore
This. Every show they produce now has to have some woke/SJW character or plot which is funny cause in the 80s and 90s HBO would be that network that would make fun of that shit not promote it. But times change. You even get a glimpse of that shit creeping into earlier shows like Sorpranos, Wire and Six Feet Under which is a blessing those shows got cancelled before they got more politically correct.
Jayden Lee
>sopranos dropped off in s6b
just end it m7
Julian Cruz
"FUCK NIGGERS, FUCK HUMANS and most of all... FUCK JANNIES"
Luke Diaz
that scene where the crowd starts to beat up his prisoner echoing the beginning of the show
based!
Jaxson Phillips
can someone explain the wire?
I legitimately do not understand why its so praised on the internet. like it just seems so boring. I watched all of s1 and honestly I can barely remember it
Austin Gutierrez
I don't think it did either but some people do lol
Jayden Reed
Veep is borderline unwatchable. Liberal scum detected.
Robert Brown
shit list
Jack Williams
is that The Hound's friend?
Andrew Wilson
S3 is amazing kindly toss yourself off the balcony.
Brody Flores
The Thick Of It Seasons 3-4 is The Thick Of It Seasons 1-2 for stupid people.
Veep is The Thick of It for very stupid people.
Jackson Ward
hbo showed mr bean way back when i was first airing. kids in the hall too
Henry Barnes
no one pretends veep is super clever political satire, what it is, is extremely joke dense with a funny cast.
you don't really get many things with that many jokes any more.
as much as i like modern comedies like Atlanta and Louie, constant jokes is nice too.
Andrew Peterson
want to see the wire but i had heared the ending is awful.
It worth a watch despite that?
Caleb Martinez
oh fuck yeah.
You get conclusions of so much before then already.
It's an amazing show.
I recommend you watch a 4/3 dvdrip of it, not the 'hd' remaster, because it's not meant to be 16/9.
and give it half the first season to get into it. A lot of people (including me) don't really get it for a few eps until you get to know the characters and the story kicks off
Michael Gonzalez
The ending is great, it's just that the last season overall is worse than the other seasons (not dramatically worse, definitely worth watching, but still worse).
Christopher Edwards
it's not like they ruin the existing characters and plots
just the new one they add that season, of a newspaper room, isn't as good as what they've had for previous seasons- polish dock workers, politics, school kids etc
Daniel Wright
It's not the same. Really not much of the wild shit at all. Mostly politics and characters talking with some characters getting into some hand-to-hand fights and that's it.
Robert Ortiz
zzzz
Hunter Thomas
>ctrl+f get shorty
you're all plebs
Jonathan Harris
more like get cringey
Ryan Hill
fucking ray man jesus christ
