Enough debating what the big villian of GvK will be. What monsters do you think will get Rodan style cameos and apearences unimportant to the plot?
Godzilla KotM
Fuck the haters.
fpbp
I watched this movie with my bf, it was great I loved mothra so much, and when she cuddled godzilla was the best. fuck the haters
>What monsters do you think will get Rodan style cameos and apearences unimportant to the plot?
I hope for a bro Anguirus, Godzilla's best friend.
2014 is better than this trash. At least it was a movie, instead of this jumbled up trash.
ITS HIS TURN
So tell me Yea Forums
Did Godzilla and Mothra use to have a thing?
Reminder
>Kong fighting Anguirus is what sets Godzilla off
I mean, it won't happen, but it'd be neat.
never trust (((critics)))
based and fpbp
This. Anguirus was there before Mothra, Ghidorah, and the rest. He gets his shit slapped more often than not, but he is Godzilla's bro fo sho.
Pic related makes me worried that the critics might actually be braindead retarded
Movie is a disaster
I wish I was mothra and that godzilla pounded my moth pussy.
Just got back from the theatre.
Movie is based. The Asians were the only good humans.
I thought it was about as good as the mid-teir goji films
Human parts = 3/10
Monster fights = 8/10
Reminder that (((((critics))))) need to be put down.
No, they just hate giant monster movies, and would rather watch people TALK about monsters fucking up a city than actually seeing it happen themselves. Because MUH DRAMA
>slaying dragons is a western tradition
based jap putting yt in his place
I know right, who is going to clean up this mess?
I actually thought this was the best human plot I have ever seen in a Godzilla movie.
That would be cool. Kong slaps Angurius around and Godzilla goes to help his bro only to have Rodan double cross him during the fight then triple cross Kong then quadruple cross Zilla then get slapped around by whoever the big baddie that Kong and Zilla have to team up to beat.
Asian cope that they aren't chad enough to kill dragons.
fpbp
reminder to ignore:
>daytime fags
>people who somehow think modern cgi is worse than 20th century cosplay
>people who hate on the storyline as if godzilla movies are known for that
>people who say the monsters don't make the movies yet can't name 5 human characters from the franchise
So this is the latest reddit nigger/shill general.
lol daytime, the night time fight in this was kino, it wasnt like in got where you couldnt see anything
Mothra was so brave...
100% agree
complaining about ghidorah being a force of nature and bringing the fucking storm is retarded
you wanna see tropical sunlit fights go watch Kong
>implying Kong VS Godzilla wasn't the most funny thing of the earth at the time
I think it was the very first color film as well but don't quote me on that
Ever watch Returns? Biollante? Shin?
Is it weird that I think a 7.5/10 movie is probably one of the Top 10 Godzilla movies in the series?
>latest
it's been going for weeks now, newfag
just because you've been hidden away in /got/ for 2 months doesn't mean you were in the only general
why did it have to happen, why didnt ghirdora save her for rape
>tfw no cut footage of King G actively fucking up DC and murdering the mutt military while "Terror" plays full blast
Everytime I think about Anguirus, the first thing that comes to mind is Mecha ripping off his jaw. What a jobber.
Don't mind nighttime fights, but I would kill for a blood red sunset GvK fight. Wouldn't even be all that taxing on the CGI, since it's all one source lighting, and it will look amazing, imo.
Yes. All of those.
Maybe it's just because the Japanese are so stoic, but I found the human plots much slower and less interesting in those films
>shin
>best human plot
>doesn't mention the original movie at all
Does the old military march theme from the 80s play?
kys Ghidorah
Most of the monarch stuff was fine but the Mother/daughter drama was bad.
They needed a scapegoat for that orca device, but based Watanabe was too cool a character for that
no, shame desu
the warm up fights with the JSDF were some of my favorite parts from the old movies, especially when they brought out the wacky prototypes like Masers and shit
Shin actually scratched that itch for me
drop the Orca entirely
make it either the military is taking over Monarch and fucks up majorly releasing Ghidorah, or the "eco terrorists" are actually trying to secure Titan DNA and in the process release Ghidorah
>"it's either going for food, a fight, or a fu-"
Hilarious to think Ghidorah wanted to rape a fire pterodactyl
>>latest
yeah latest I've popped in occasionally to see what you fags were about, tranny and faggots shipping monsters, fucking reylo tier garbage. Now your movie is a huge flop and you reddit niggers and tumblr shills are going in to overdrive.
Alright Godzilla bros, those of us who have seen all 30+ movies of the series and followed them since were were kids, where does KotM rank?
>implying he didn't
Said this in another thread but they could have ditched the daughter and combined the mother with Tywin and just had a Monarch scientist go rogue and start waking up TItans. Keep the eco-terrorist thing and ditch the family drama.
>HEYYY ANGILLLLAAAA
>WHAAAT?
>SOMETHING FUNNY GOING ON, YOU BETTA CHECK
>OHHHKAYYY
Definitely high. In the top 5
Let's get some top tens going:
1. Godzilla vs. Biollante
2. Shin Godzilla
3. Godzilla 1954
4. Godzilla - King of the Monsters (2019)
5. Godzilla - Final Wars
6. Terror of Mechagodzilla (Titanosaurus is based, hope he gets his time to shine one day)
7. Godzilla vs. Hedorah
8. Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla
9. Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)
10. Godzilla vs. Destoroyah
>why didnt ghirdora save her for rape
>Hilarious to think Ghidorah wanted to rape a fire pterodactyl
Faggots
yeah that would so funny haha if he just fucked him right there haha wouldn't that be weird and funny haha
I hated the human plot in Shin Godzilla. A bunch of soulless drones passing folders around and bowing. So much fucking bowing. The "American" Japanese chick was the closest thing they had to an actual character, and she was dull too.
human sections dragged the mobie down as usual but all the good shit that needed to be there was there
it's a godzilla film unlike 2014 which is a step in the right direction for sure.
I was confused why Monarch was so adamant about defending kaiju. Would have like if they were developing tech and medicine from studying monsters. Add a reason to keep them alive.
Not really. I'd say out of the 30+ Godzilla movies out there, about 15 can be skipped entirely unless you're a completionist.
Just got back from it
That was fucking shit
I love how they actually make godzilal extremely fucking powerful towards the end. I wasn't entertaining the memes about how Kong couldn't stand a chance against him but after that there's no fucking way.
I hope we get another Godzilla fighting game that captures that because he was stupid strong and so was Ghidorah.
The movie gets a little whacky at times which appears to be so they can add some new Titans that are akin to those such as Biolante, Destoroyah, Mechagodzilla, Hedorah, etc. The tech is wildly advanced for 2019 with monarch having laser turrents and what not plus Dance's character mentions how people would pay top dollar for even a fragment of Titan DNA for pharmaceuticals and shit. PLUS If I remember correctly monarch has been experiementing with tech that kinda meant mechs but I don't remember that line too much. And if anyone is wondering, yes Ghirodah is an Alien
So far the movie isn't doing so well so sad to say that the Monsterverse most likely will be ending soon. Maybe Toho can introduce Legendary Goji into the new series they're doing? I wouldn't mind a Goji vs Goji movie at some point.
As much as I'd like to see our spikey boi, unless Legendary buys the rights, it aint happenin chief.
Sorta, yea
Haven't seen all 30+ but I've seen the majority and its easily top 5.
That's nature baby.
Lol that american chick was the only character I liked the least. The main guy was pretty great in it, as was that one nerdy asian qt.
>unless Legendary buys the rights, it aint happenin chief.
They are definitely going to secure rights for more monsters for GvK. We just don't know who yet
>call monarch a monster hunting organization
>no hunting was done
Who wrote this script anyway?
more like tumblr shippjng filth you cock sucking poofter
They did hunt them down. They found seventeen monsters and effectively contained them until one of their scientists went rogue and helped an eco terrorist bring them back.
I would put it by my top 10
Is this one of the greatest shots in Godzilla history?
>>call monarch a monster hunting organization
Who called them that? I don't remember that in the movie
I wouldn't rate KOTM that high. It's Good enough and gets the job done but I wouldn't consider it worthy of being a classic like GMK and the original.
KOTM is kaiju porn pure and simple, and good kaiju porn too, but not a classic
I wish the humans would get the fuck out of this movie. Or at least limit their screentime to 30 min tops.
they are never called monster hunters, they are expressing about studying and if necessary 'containing'
no this is
1. Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster
2. Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla
3. Godzilla vs King Kong
4. Godzilla 1984
5. Gojira
6. GMK
7. KotM (2019)
8. Godzilla vs Destroyah
9. Against Mechagodzilla
10. Godzilla vs Mothra (1964)
You wouldn't have a movie
Someone post the shot of Ghidorah launching the electrical attack after eating the power lines or whatever it was.
.>reminder to ignore: legit criticism
>"lol who cares about story in a movie?"
>"b-but the other movies were shit too!"

The absolute state of kaijufags.
Going to need a high quality rip of this film because there are so many shots to make wallpapers out of
>You absolutely NEED to have a storyline about some fucking divorcee couple and their shitty kid in order to justify a kaiju battle
Nah.
I just really want to hear his high pitched roar in IMAX
Jurassic Park did it five times.
I need a better quality version. Or a webm
I want a good rip just so I can take a good look at all the shit in the underwater city and temple
Kill yourself shill
top 10 prob even top 5
And one was enough.
I was kinda surprised this hurt Godzilla as much as it did.
Somewhere above 2000 and below Megaguirus.
You need to have a story about something
And it sucked then, too. I don't mind it if humans are present for the sake of explaining the made-up science shit of the world, but the fact that they think I care about the character growth of some shitty little family when the world is exploding is insane.
The father repeatedly storms off to go save his ex-wife who almost doomed the world and his kid who is allowed in government facilities for some reason. Why do I give a shit? I don't care if he patches things up with his ex and daughter, I just want more of Godzilla and his pet humans.
Rodan would just bend down for him too, that little bitch
Unlikely since iirc Toho is pretty set on making their on series after GvK and the deal prevents them from having movies release in the same year (real shit they should just go back and forth with releasing new movies but oh well)
It would also cost like $500 million to make, so even if it made Avengers money it would still have a hard time being worth it to the studios.
>dat shot of Godzilla in front of blindingly bright Ghidorah right after that
Motherfucking Kino.
About Serizawa
Definitely better than G'14. Doesn't crack my top 10 though.
Gojira
Monster Zero
Godzilla vs Biollante
Shin Godzilla
Rodan
Mothra Vs Godzilla
Godzilla Vs Hedorah
Godzilla Vs Gigan
Terror of Mechagodzilla
Godzilla Vs Destoroyah
The original is pretty fucking bad I have no idea how you think it's anything but B grade schlock like the Son of Dracula and the Bride of the Wolfman.
He got zapped with the combined current of a major American city's power grid all at once. That would fuck up anything.
Girl and Father or Girl and her mother. Keep it simple.
...
I hope Titanosaurus.
I hope for GvK they opt with a civilian main character. I'm getting tired of following a team of scientist and military people.
This. Remove the family and have the focus be entirely on Serizawa.
Anybody who pays attention to criticism or actively makes money off critiques are scum and have never had an iota of talent to actually make anything themselves
Narrative-wise, it makes more sense to have military and scientists. Their professions keep them close to the action. Some jabroni working at Best Buy wouldn't have much to contribute to a Godzilla story.
>googling Houston Brooks bc can't remember what he looked like in KOTM
>accidentally stumble upon this tiny yt channel 'Legendary Goji' making a video on the character

>kid sounds maybe 13 at the most but is super passionate/enthusiastic about the Kaiju genre
>Doesn't just know the burger films but has a knowledge of the showa/heisei stuff
>it's all just really endearing and sincere
Maybe Zoomers aren't all that bad
Worked for a bunch of Toho movies. I'm sure a competent writer could make it work.
I don't even know why I love this fucker, I just always have ever since I was a kid. He really should be in more films.
Brainlets detected.
scientists and other pencilnecks are like the fucking staple protagonists of monster movies especially Godzilla, you fucking people are really going too far
I have it ranked fifth.
1. Gojira
2. Shin Godzilla
3. GMK
4. Terror of Mechagodzilla
5. King of the Monsters (2019)
>nuclear bad
I genuinely don't get the daytime complaints, Fatzilla looks cooler in darker light plus the atomic breath shines nicer.

if you read the reviews, it almost like they went in wanting to hate it. Lots of dismissive tone thrown just at the concept.

Not really.

Watching Godzilla for the people parts is like watching porn because you want to find out how that repair man fixes the leaky sink.
Mechagodzilla is in Godzilla vs Kong so that would be neat.
The story is about humans learning to trust Godzilla. I think you mean every story needs to have some singular protagonist for the audience to relate to or root for, and the answer would be Serizawa and his battle to change the-powers-that-be's mind about trusting Godzilla. And outside of that, I think everyone here can agree that it's easy to relate to being a human on Earth who doesn't want to see the planet destroyed? You don't need to focus on a single person and their backstory for us to relate to not wanting the Earth to become fire and ash.
The reviews say otherwise, but whatever you say, smoothbrain
Even if this film underperforms at the box office, it was finally nice to get an American Godzilla film that actually feels like one
These movies have them moving all over the world while every country is in mass panic mode.
Fuck off back to Yea Forums, annofag.
>nation gets nuked not once but TWICE
>make a movie that explores the dangers of nuclear bombs as well as the moral struggle of a scientist who is building a similarly destructive weapon.
>80 years later some twat on a chinese rice picking forum:: "hurr nuclear bad'
Definitely one of my favorites for certain, any Godzilla movie with a lot of other kaiju is great.
Found out people actually ship Mothra with Godzilla.
Why?
Kill yourself tranny
>jabroni
It was a pretty great movie, what I would have probably changed was trimming down on certain parts of the human drama and putting more focus on others and axing some characters.
FOR example, focusing more on Monarch as an organization and their conflicts with the UN/US government and make them more of a active sort of organization like G-Force or Earth Defense Force rather then a study group.
The family plot can stay I suppose but I would either make the wife fully committed to the role and more antagonistic or axe her early and give the main eco terrorist time.
Thats about it I more focus on the organization trying to stop these things from happening and a slight restructure of how it works
Agreed completely.
It warms my heart
Yo somebody better find me a camrip because I'm too lazy
I don't know it never happened in my days. Apparently the movie plays along with it.
Yeah, that's why I'd like something different for a change.
They fight together in the movie.
I wanna see it a third time
the story makes you care more about the fucking.
Have sex
Dilate
My nipples went hard went this happened in my IMAX theater
2014 is a good movie despite what people say. Great atmosphere, great tension, sparing use of Godzilla makes all the scenes where he's shown so much more grandious, his presence in that movie is unmatched. The MUTOs are fantastic and terrifying kaiju. It's a different flavor of Kaiju movies, people were going into 2014 expecting KOTM or Final Wars I guess, and now they went into KOTM expecting 2014 or Shin or some shit.
It's nonexistent
>Everyone shits on human part
>Everyone likes Godzilla part
What are you trying to say?
They flat out said in this movie they got a thing going on. I'd rather them just be comrades more than anything.
This. The movie was pretty shit for focusing on the nonsensical human plot.
Sure is "under 30" in this thread.
I bet half you stupid fuckers actually laughed at the dumb jokes and got mad when they interrupted the dad screaming his daughter's name with monsters fighting.
1. Gojira
2. Shin
3. Destroy All Monsters
4. Terror of MechaGodzilla

6. vs Destroyah
7. 2000
8. All out Attack
9. Against Mechagodzilla

>dumb jokes
Agreed, the script was weak as shit.
4/10 bait.
Have you actually seen the reviews? A shocking number of them say it's not enough humans and too much Godzilla
Like, more than you would ever expect
I'd defend 2014 more if it had the airport fight properly shown
>you don't need to tell me about the prototype, I designed it
How many cliches did this have?
Top 10 definitely, but not top 5
imho
1. Godzilla vs Mothra (Showa)
2. Shin Godzilla
3. Gojira
4. Godzilla vs Destroyah
5. GMK
6. Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (Showa)
7. Godzilla against Mechagodzilla
8 and 9 is kind of a toss up between Final wars and King of the monsters
10. Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (Heisei)
Too many. Maybe it would have worked if they REALLY hammed it up, but it felt like they were really trying to play it straight.
I did laugh at the dumb jokes, you're right. Does this make me a bad person? No.
>want all trannies dead
>get told to dilate

All of them. All the cliches and tropes. So bad.
Here, have my webm.
R.I.P. Aniki. You were too pure for this world.
Yes. They'll keep making bad movies because of people like you. You're sandbagging the potential of film.
It felt like I was watching a movie I'd already seen before
It was pretty much a 1 hour and 50 minute drag until a entertaining last 10 mins
>1. Godzilla vs Mothra (Showa)
Its the otherway around but good taste. way too many people are boring and just put 54 as number one even though you know most of them don't actually like it much themselves.
If you were to rate the movie just on Cinematography , what would you give it?
Quick! Cutaway to some dumb little cunt dodging rubble! This shot is too awesome!
Yeah, monsters fighting a monster war to see who is the king of monsters, you don't need to know which side the humans are on or if they're on a side at all for that to be interesting.
The monsters can be your protagonists, fuck humans. They all bow at the end, that shows they're intelligent and not just animals, they can have personalities, character traits, drama can be built around those trails interacting. You can do it all without dialogue. You can show cities being destroyed during the monster battles if you want a sense of scale and humans in your movie but they don't need to be the focus.
Watch The Bear (1988) to understand what I mean.
This. Flooded DC in the midst of a category 6 hurricane was my favorite setting of the movie and they easily could have cut a few minutes of dumb characters to show more of that
lmao wtf would you know about playing it straight faggot
It's a giant lizard and a bug half it's size, why do people support this?
tumblr and Yea Forums scum are mentally ill
1. Gojira
2. GMK
3. vs Destroyah
4. SOS/against mecha G
5. vs MechaGodzilla
6. vs biolante
7. vs king ghidorah heisei
8. vs spacegodzilla
9. final wars
10. 2000
This is the best list imo. The Ghidorah film was so interesting it made Astro-Monster pull down the series in comparison
How did Millie's character go from being a toddler to a highschooler in 5 years?
I feel like this was a big "Fuck you, we can do it better" to shin Goji.
I can agree with that. Maybe they thought a full kaiju fight at the midpoint would fuck up the tension and buildup to the final fight where Goji fights the MUTOs 2-on-1.
Hormones in the chicken
Biollante is a good movie but the human parts drag. Dr Shiragami has a cool story that ties into Biollante but if you isolate his scenes it’s like 5 minutes and everyone else is kinda boring. The terrorist guy who goes “damn it’s godzilla” is unintentionally hilarious.
It was pure kino
All you Yea Forumstumblr scum should be executed
I really don't understand the appeal of GTTHM. Especially when it's sandwiched between two of the absolute best Godzilla films.
Do you actually believe that or do you just parrot what fedoras on /m/ tell you? Or do you really think a movie where the monsters have three minutes of screentime vs a retarded completely detached bullshit espionage plot is somehow great cinema?
Rodan is going to fight for Godzilla early on against the next huge foe, and after G loses Rodan will attempt to swear fealty to it as the new Alpha. He'll then get completely blown out to establish how bad this new evil monster is.
I disliked this in the film.
It was too sudden, it was splayed on the ground, then suddenly he's Super Saiyan. He should have slowly stood up while crackling with energy before suddenly exploding, instead of whatever happened over there.
I have a similar issue with Chadorah dumping Godzilla from the stratosphere, one second he grabs him, the next shot they're pretty much in space.
The movie doesn't have to be perfect for the monster to make a welcome return. First returning heisei kaiju.
It's fellated by snobs who think the dumbass princess plotlike that has nothing to do with anything is somehow masterfully crafted into the hypothetical giant monster scenes, I say hypothetical because the monsters Godzilla, Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra are barely in the fucking movie and do fuckall until the last five minutes and even then Ghidorah just runs.
I don't know man, Godzilla and Rodan have some pretty sweet fight scenes.
I sill can't get over the "Kiss you guys!" line.
Biolante is potentially the best way to go for the next one since they already establish that people are experimenting with Titan Genes.
>He should have slowly stood up while crackling with energy before suddenly exploding
he did you blind faggot, there's a few seconds where you see Godzilla getting zapped and backing off
why did they keep deploying ospreys like they were gonna do anything during the fights
1/10 bait
Top five.
Original
Godzilla Vs the Thing

Godzilla Vs Monster 0
KotM.
Why is there complaining about boring humans taking up screen time when that is true for many of the movies?
No they fucking don't, they have goofball shit throwing rocks and flailing around then that arguing scene that brings it beyond the point of mockery.
Rodan fucking up all of those jets and cratering that Mexican village was easily the highlight.
And it's a kaiju movie unlike Astro Monster.
>only $4 dollars at the box office
Because they're cool looking
Because the person in charge of the human elements of this story was an idiot.
Are we picking on the ospreys and not on the Ace Combat mothership?
Yes it was, but we're talking about Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster
No, Nigger.
He lays splayed out on the ground, chomps on a power transformer, Godzilla goes "Wut?", and the very next shot has Ghidorah back on his feet going Shin Gojira and forcing Godzilla back.
>credit show the growth of greenery and plants from the radiated destruction
>Biollante is born from this new green earth
Could be kino
They are all garbage so its pretty much on par with the rest
The only good ones I've seen are the original and the most recent Japanese one. The 2014 American one is easily one of the most boring. Godzilla vs Biollante has some cool imagery though
Rodan's best scene was everything from when he came out of the Volcano to him seeing Ghidorah and fucking booking it. His fight with Mothra in the background was cool but only in the sense that it made the Godzilla v KG fight that much more frantic.
Question.
My dad wants to watch this movie tomorrow, but I'm worried it's going to be cringey as fuck. Are the stupid singing Mothra fairies in this movie or no?
Possible monsters that where dropped:
>Destroyah (oxygen destroyer)
>Biolante (combining human and godzilla biometrics and the plant stuff in end credits)
>Mecha King Gidorah (obvious sequel bait end credits)
>MechaGodzilla (by proxy and a newspaper clip accusing Monarch of building a giant metal weapon in the credits)
>Megalon (undersea kingdom)
>Gigan (by proxy and Gidorah introducing aliens)
>Batra (due to mothras presence)
*expensive
Every scene like this costs millions of dollars, and unless a studio is dumb enough to spend $700 million on a Godzilla movie, it'll never happen.
you guys are fucking faggots kill yourselves PUHLEASE
Yes but also no.
> 25 cents opening
kaijufags are DONE here
No, but they do pay homage to the twins in a slightly non-cringe way
While I could see the connection it'd probably be better to go with the Man made monster route so people don't bitch about the human elements.
It made its budget back in a single weekend. It will be fine.
The only cringey thing is the marvel humour
Because by now, someone should've cracked the code on either making the humans more interesting, or getting rid of them entirely. But no studio on the planet will greenlight a Godzilla movie with no human characters.
>stupid singing Mothra fairies
Take that back, user
And the only bad joke in it was the Gonnoreah one. The movie is an 8.7/10, you’ll like it
Why was Rodan still on fire after being out of the volcano for so long? And why is he the Starscream of monsters?
>saying PUHLEASE unironically
Hey user, I don't shit up your general, so chill out.
If anything we needed more of that, some fucking giant air carriers raining down missiles to give Godzilla some support.
My girlfriend was excited to watch this because apparently Godzilla movies make her horny.
Kept talking about what shed do if she were Godzilla's size
>called "Rodan: The Fire Demon"
And he's always been Starscream. A second-stringer with delusions of grandeur. Hell, even in the movie with Rodan's namesake, there were two of 'em flying around.
>200 million budget
>only $49 million
THE STATE OF KAIJOKES
1. Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla
2. Godzilla vs King Kong
3. Godzilla vs Destroyah
4. Godzilla 1984
5. Godzilla vs Biollante
6. Godzilla vs Mothra (1964)
7. Gojira
8. KotM (2019)
9. Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla
10. Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
Because he's a literal firebird dude, lol. His blood was even made of magma if you look at the hole mothra left in his chest.
I also though it was funny as fuck that they made Rodan essentially starscream.
Really? I thought the Gonnoreah one flowed A LOT better than the "oh my god.... zilllllllaaaaaaaaaa"
Top 5 definitely. Probably 4th or 5th but that’s just because I’ve grown up with, loved, and defended the others for so long that I have an insane bias. It’s pretty clear KotM is well worth the price of an IMAX ticket, and in the future a blu-Ray purchase. It’s fanservice to people who have loved Godzilla for better or worse.
>What is foreign box office
A flop.
Don't forget MOGUERA as a possibility for the mechanical weapon.
Make it existent then link me
Well we got pieces of an old, advanced civilization, Ghidorah is confirm a space lizard, and the current earth seems to enter a quantum leap in technology and resources. Give me Jet Jaguar, Mecha Godzilla, Space Godzilla,King Ceasar...all the crazy shit.
That line I feel was fine in context, due to the Godzilla worship temple
>Didn't watch Kong: Skull Island
>They keep talking about it in the movie
Should, uh... Should I watch it?
We get it, you liked Captain Marvel. I would applaud but the sound might trigger you.
YEEEEEEESS
yes it's an entertaining monster movie and brought back King Kong the way he should be, of course Yea Forums swears Peter Jackson's is much better
It's fun. I would say, Kong's enemies are less interesting than Godzilla's. Just generic monitor lizard looking things with no character, but the fights themselves are entertaining.
Worth watching for John C. Reilly alone. Everything else is just a nice bonus.
No what you REALLY want is to hear the soundtrack in full glorious imax surround sound.
Yeah it’s a lot of fun
Director is a weeb who put Eva and Mgs references in a King Kong movie
The new rendition of the Mothra theme might be my favorite piece of music in the entire thing. Having it playing when she takes flight for the first time was kino.
fuck forgot about GMK

I watched it for the first time today, it's pretty solid. Not as good as KotM, but better than 2014 by miles
The basedboys and hambeast critics got wet for Tom Hiddleston, so it got a pass.
>Eva and Mgs references
really? I didnt catch those. what are they
9/10. There are a ton of really amazing shots here
Enjoying Captain Marvel in an insult? HOW DARE YOU
>Kong look like me! I can relate to ape!
>Godzilla looks lizard. I no like lizard.
what a shit film.
It made 180 world wide this week. Assuming an absolute best case scenario, and gentle drop offs, it's gonna drop 50% next week. So it makes 90 next week, 45 the week after that, 27 the next week, then it loses screens and its all over.
This movie needs like 400-450 to break even, depending on how much they dumped into marketing. It's gonna need a miracle to break that.
I got more Godzilla 1985 vibes out of it than ace combat which was fine for me because 1985 is my favorite
no way in hell they'll do him before mechagodzilla
and with mechagodzilla they'll probably give it to a crazy pilot who goes full captain ahab or an AI that will go rogue. if they play it straight with a power ranger type team I'd love it
This might be a weird question, but is there any good military action in this movie? I like seeing the jets and tanks utterly fail at killing Godzilla.
Peter Jackson's King Kong is completely forgettable.
She's supposed to be 12, I think, according to the website.
yes, plenty, not in a HOO RAH way like 2014 though, there's tons of jets getting btfo by Rodan, Ospreys, and other stuff
Not really, no. We get occasional missile barrages against Rodan and King Ghidorah, but not Godzilla.
NOOOOOOOO MY BUG SCENE!!!!!!!!
Yes you little slut
Why are big channel youtube critics all circle jerking Godzilla 2014 now and act like KotM is irredeemable garbage? Is there some mind altering shenanigans that occur when you become a popular critic?
How the fuck are we supposed to believe Kong has any chance after watching this?
no, not really
the only scene that qualifies is Rodan's
Rodan fucks up their entire squadron, there's a tiny amount of human conflict, and Ghidorah destroys every jet in the sky with the wing lightning except for the super X-lite
Its funny because most of them were complaining about too much human shit but now are complaining about a good human element.
I wouldn't mind a Del-Toro-helmed movie in the Monsterverse all things considered. I can only imagine what he'd do with Skull Island.
Also, keep in mind user. It might as well perform like 2014 did, and suffer catastrophic 65%+ drops every week. In which case it flat out loses Legendary hundreds of millions outright.
>good human element
Did we watch the same film?
I fucking loved the Argo. That shit was badass. WAY cooler than sucking the real world military's dick over and fucking over again. That being said, I liked the ospreys and f-35s, nice to see the 35 has become the jobber bait instead of the raptor.
I mean they were bitching about a lack of a good human element*, my mistake.
I’m really disappointed that this flopped so hard, especially after KOTM planted so many seeds for a possible future in this franchise. I really wanted to see gigan, destroyah, and biollante in the monsterverse. I really did appreciate this movie though, lots of soul.
There's a moto recruiting scene the marines/navy probably paid for.
Nothing interesting in terms of tactics or technology. Just military tech doing shit it can't.
So the kaijuverse is kill, right? There's no way they're making another one after this. Godzilla vs King Kong aint happenin'.
In that case it's an argument that quality doesn't equal quantity, in which case I agree.
It's already at $200m and its only been out 4 days
MOTHRA DESERVED MORE SCREEN TIME
Pics?
GvK is already shot and in post production brah
>I-IT DIDN'T FLOP! EVERYTHING IS FINE! REEEEE!
I love it when Yea Forums acts defensive over shitty kaiju movies.
micheal bay doin it again
It's already made.
WB and Legendary must be having some spectacular, collective panic attack right now. I wonder what they'll do, go balls deep and call for reshoots, sinking more money in hopes of turning it around, or will they grit their teeth and stick to their guns?
Because Godzilla vs. Kong is a given.
True, but she did more with her screen time than every human in the movie. Literally the only emotional scenes in the movie involve Mothra.
At least it was the first one we saw
Source
I think this is all they wanted to do. Besides, we finally got a faithful non-Japanese Godzilla movie, and that’s pretty much all we’ve ever wanted. 1998 was utterly insulting, and 2014 was decent, but left you blue balled at the same time
10: Mothra Vs. Godzilla (1964)
9: Godzilla 2000
8: Godzilla Vs. Megalon
7: Godzilla Vs. Hedorah
6: Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II
5: Rodan
4: King of the Monsters
3:Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S
3:Godzilla (1954)
2: Godzilla Vs. Destroyah
1: Shin Godzilla
>grit their teeth and stick to their guns?
Most probably this.
The thing is that the humans had lots of screen time and it was all amazingly terribly written and tonally fucked.
NO!
So how long have Godzilla and Ghidorah been fighting in the Monsterverse? I can only imagine the relief Godzilla felt after he was dead.
I enjoyed the film, both of them, but lets not kid ourselves. A decently written and acted human cast helps Godzilla movies immensely.
The fact that people are jerking off 2014 now when they all seemed to hate it when it came out is perplexing to me.
Here's hoping we get some silly silver spandex suit space alien shit in a future movie with either a new King Gidorah, Mechagodzilla, or Gigan.
Box office mojo
Link
Considering Kong is in the title, they'll probably it'll do fine off the name alone.
I just hope they don't change it so Kong wins since KOTM did worse or something like that.
> Not bawling like a baby when Serizawa said goodbye to goji
Who else saw the bloody fucking Godzilla Knights? Badass
Search and rescue
just google box office mojo dude
Are we sure we aren't in the honeymoon phase of this movie bros?
boxofficemojo.com
It doesn't show $200m, but evidently the production budget was only $170m? I thought this was at Pacific Rim levels of spending, and that movie somehow got a sequel, so I'm not really worried about the future of the Monsterverse.
I saw the godzilla-headed egyptian style statues leading to his chamber, but I must have missed those.
Box office mojo is saying it only made $49 million
Honestly, I think so. The movie was pretty shit in hindsight. Most people here are just desperately trying to justify their wasted time and money.
worldwide faggot
peter jackson had a few neat scenes and definitely kept more with the original movie
2017s kong was more "fun" like i dont know how to explain it but it wasnt as dark but was still "heavy" also John C. Reilly
>Tearing up as he says goodbye old friend
>Tears turn into joy as I start hearing the cords to OJ Goji march
Movie was kino
i want this movie to be like the pic but the pic is one image static in its story and a movie is like two hours long
Really hoping they steal the Skull concept and have the Aliens be shapeshifters
It'd be wild if they pulled another alternate ending like the original had based on the country.
>The entire movie is just an annoyed looking Godzilla holding down an intimidated Kong for two hours
>In the last minute, he atomic breaths him out of nowhere and Kong burns to death
>Roll credits
Why do Americans love King Kong so much?
I just wanted this movie to succeed so badly.
I just wanted Godzilla back.
I just hope Toho likes it
>It'd be wild if they pulled another alternate ending like the original had based on the country.
This is a myth, and it always has been, and everybody but you already knows it.
>pulled another alternate ending like the original had
That's a myth. Kong wins in all versions.
I will consider it a success if it surpasses kong and a failure if it falls short of 2014
Considering it looks to be a $200m worldwide opening weekend I wager it will meet kong
ITS NOT FAIR BROS
I WANTED TO SEE GIGAN
WHY CANT TOHO COLLABORATE WITH LEGENDARY OR SOMETHING
Worldwide doesn’t matter. Only domestic
daily reminder that M-11 is a complete Chad
I'm american and don't get the hype either. Godzilla is cooler in just about every way, I don't even view them as comparable franchises.
Pacific Rim got a sequel purely on its international release, not that it was a good sequel or anything. Also, Legendary is a Chinese-owned company.
That's a myth. No monster clearly wins in all versions.
Peter Jackson’s King Kong is one of my favorite movies, please don’t insult it
It's made nearly $200 million worldwide, where are you getting this shit?
The Rex fight (and he music that went along with it) is pretty iconic, at least for me
I've seen the movie, man. I believe Honda explicitly said Kong is supposed to win, though they do make it kind of hard to figure out.

m11 running to rape you
King Kong is a much more timeless story compared to Godzilla. It's a story about a love that was never meant to be, and everyone can relate to that on some level.
Godzilla is true horror. Most Americans don't seem to realize just what Godzilla is supposed to represent, and they don't know just how depressing the first Gojira movie really is.
Goji doesn't exist without kong. He deserves respect. And the og film is an awesome ride. But ya, big G is cooler.
A keeper right there
That's them. Looked like armor and swords to me but I may be mistaken.
Put a ring on it user
This user speaks the truth. Gojira is like an art film compared to the pulpy Kong. They're both great, but in different ways and have vastly different tones.
they were holding staves
i can see kong being annoyed but what fucking premise would allow kong to be anywhere godzilla is without taking kong off the island? that never happened with the 2017 version so whats gonna happen in the next installment of kongs adventure i think something where godzilla shows up at the ass end of the movie besides the few hints that will be sprinkled about and a team is sent to capture or extract dna from kong so that have a chance to fight godzilla
this will lead to a mechazilla from a rival corporation with the movie after that a mecha kong and godzilla battle
King Kong is American and 2 decades older than Godzilla.
He's a 20th century American icon.
First of its kind, really, and it stuck in the public imagination. Coming out in the peak of the depression probably helped it too.
What would be your Legendary Mechagodzilla, anons?
>Kiryu origin with the Godzilla skeleton and having to deal with a "spirit" trying to posses it
>Looks more like Mechagodzilla 2 (especially the poster art) and uses MechaG-2's theme
>Built with Alien Technology- tie it into Area 51 to keep the whole conspiracy angel the movies have or if Dance really is an alien
He's not my favorite but I respect him as the original big movie monster, also the original story is kino.
new thread where?
Hollow earth, bro. Where do you think all those lizard tunnels go?
Also, the epilogue of KotM said titans were converging on Skull Island, so Godzilla would have reason to go to him.
>being this retarded
Avatar isn't even in the top five highest domestic grossing films and it's still the highest grossing film ever made.
Bullcrap. He never said, not a word and I read his biography. Only about the message of the film. Giving a clear winner would in fact be against it. Mixed signals. Tanaka cared more about this stuff and he said it was a draw. That's the only official source that we know came from someone directly connected to the production. And in the movie of course the fight stops and we can only wonder what happened. In the context of the movie - nothing the fight just had to end somehow. In typical crossover fashion.
we havent hit image limit yet
Maybe Skull Island will be the new Monster Island?
sure. but then they turned the second godzilla into a rubbersuit punchout whereas king kong has been the exact same story on loop forever.
Support the film then. I'm gonna see it again next week and I got three friends that are going to see if with me..
>make Godzilla into a timeless love story between Goji and his moth waifu
>rake millions
Now that I think of it, leaning into it might bring some women audience more.
Tough call, but a bit of a hybrid. I like the idea of using both Godzillas biometric data plus alien tech to make a battlesuit that can be deployed when Godzilla isn't around. Ideally piloted by 5 people in different colored jumpsuits.
King Kong died at the end of the first movie. Not much else you can work with if you kill off your monster at the end of your first movie.
Kong is not a franchise movie so there never were many sequels. Among movie fans in the States Godzilla is more popular now at least for some time now. Among normies Kong is probably more popular because they think they can recognize de monke and Godziller is rubber man. But it doesn't matter if they pay for the ticket in 2020.
