This is actually true. IIRC they made some surveys among people who watched the film and women all panned it while the approval rate was much higher among men. Also most women weren't interested in the movie at all.

The point is, it falls flat an insult, coming from a woman. Yeah sure, women through hardships, but don't involuntarily have to be lonely. As long as they are somewhat "normal" in behavior, and are not obscenely disfigured, a man will try to gain your favour.
