finished rewatching Rome yesterday. fucking Niobe. that whore.

should i watch rome ? it got cancelled meaning there is no ending and that is discouraging.

It was cancelled but there was an ending. It was just rushed.

Why did it get cancelled? it was probably better than game of thrones and delivered more in two seasons lol.

It ends at a natural and satisfactory place. I just wish that it had another 10 episodes or so to get to that place.

HBO and BBC execs thought it was too expensive.

GoT.

>show about Rome
>focus on 2 characters that are completely irrelevant to history and exist on one piece of throwaway paper
this is why spartacus is better

JUPITER'S COCK

This was supposed to be a game of thrones length series covering most of the lifespan of Augustus but was cut short to fund game of thrones. It was supposed to start with old man Pullo pouring wine over Vorenus' grave before committing suicide and letting the Tiber take him. Pullo is the central timeline figure because he is the last man alive to know Octavian as anything less than a God.

What could have been

>Doesn't realise this makes the series absolute KINO
>Le Spurtacyst
WEW

Part of what makes Rome interesting is how it plays with the idea of historiography. It's on pretty on the nose about this theme, which I've rarely seen explored elsewhere, in the second episode and scenes like this: youtube.com/watch?v=4Ed8vNcMif0

>fight in Gaul for 8 years
>become distinguished soldier
>come home
>wife has child from brother in law, lies says it’s your daughter’s bastard, and convinces whole family to side with her
>meanwhile work hard to become a senator of Rome
>become protector of Caesar
>Caesar is assassinated because you rush home to confront your unfaithful wife
>she kills herself instead of facing you
>children are kidnapped by your enemies
>kill kidnapper but find out they’re dead
>go and fight in Roman civil war as Mark Antony’s right hand man
>oops they’re actually alive
>leave battlefield to rescue children
>children ungrateful and hate you
>betray you to your enemies
>daughter becomes an even bigger whore
>somehow restrain yourself from killing bastard son
>plot armor evaporates and you die from a dumb stab wound

Vorenus was right in his first instinct to patrol a thot.

WHORE!

Isn't this show just a bunch of porn and poorly shot battle scenes?

S1 was perfect. I lost interest in S2 like half the episode in.

Its court drama meets slice of life meets historical fiction

last kingdom does that but better

Shcherbina and Legasov, Chernobyl

You're thinking of Spartacus

I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.

Justified.

Raylan and Tim or Raylan and Boyd?

There's no show I'm quite as embarrassed of ever liking as this one.

Only one set dug coal together, user.
