this film is what cemented Yea Forums as being a reddit infested shit hole. the amount of brainlets who praise this film as being great while literally unable to explain why they think it's good other than 'the visuals, are so epic.... that's why I like it'.

it's hilarious watching these stuttering pseuds relating to a guy who literally cannot act and plays autistic robots. it just sums this place up perfectly. they're mindless drones who mistake a boring, barley fleshed out plot as some 'slow burn, cerebral epic.' they think it looks pretty and then pretend it has some deep meaning or subtext about SOCIETY.

Well the first one is dreamish and ultimately about the beauty of the human experience which translates visually with constant fog and elaborate production design while 2049 is nightmarish and distances itself from the human experience so it's barren and cold.

It even intentionally avoids answering intentionally open ended questions from last movie, i really appreciate that since it dosnt fuck up the lore be giving one concrete answer, people can still argue over the ending of last movie as they always did

2049 is a good movie, but that's mainly it. It's not a revolutionary work of art that changed the medium as a whole and gave birth to hundreds of other works like the original did. I just don't like the feeling that I get from reading these threads because it seems like people only like it since they can self-insert into K's character and imagine themselves as him. Stuff like that cheapens the movie for me personally, but then again Yea Forums is Yea Forums and stuff like that should be expected considering what this place has become over the years. I guess the best way to put it would be that something about the new one feels hollow and that it's not going to be a movie that people still talk about decades after like the original was.
