This is the Game of Thrones/Star Wars/Marvel board, you must be confused son.

There was a general you could probably look up on the archive.

There were several generals.

Here you go OP you hooplehead cocksucker

I'm interested, but never watched the series.

Huh. Can i watch it without watching the series previously?

I came to ask this too

No. The movie is to tie up threads from the cancelled season 12 years prior. You really have to watch the series to appreciate it.

They actually brought the pedophile back kek.

We had several nigger generals. The majority of Yea Forums is teenager plebs, they haven't seen the series.

had hoped for a red wedding

Definitely wouldn't recommend it. It's good enough as is but you won't be able to properly appreciate it without context.

People keep bringing this up like it's news but he already got the conviction well before Deadwood even started.

We already talked about everything. Stop making threads or all the normie faggots will watch Deadwood and have thousands of stupid meme threads about it.

the movie was boring.
it had the fillers of wedding, funeral, and birth which wasted a lot of time.

it was alright but the whole thing felt totally pointless.

Just watch this absolute kino tv show. Why would you want to skip it? I doubt you would understand much of the plot of the movie without knowing the show and all the feel good moments wouldn't mean anything to you since you don't know the characters at all.

The movie was just to tie up storylines for fans after the series abrupt cancellation. It's not like they were going to introduce new storylines to conclude in it's two hours.

kek

Why the fuck are you not watching the series right now?

Can i watch this show just because Bronn is in it? Is he good?

Where the fuck you think you see Jerome Flynn in there?

Oops, confused it with that other Victorian age Bong show. My mistake.

Deadwood is decidedly not Bong, it depicts American frontier life.

It was interesting. The beginning is quite awkward. They didn’t think very hard about the timeskip; it felt like they just delivered the season 4 storyline with older actors. They also shoehorned in a bunch of hokey flashbacks to help the pothead HBO audience keep up... But after a rocky first 30 min. the script soars and we get an ending that does the show justice. B+/A-, a nice treat after D&D’s botched attempt at GRRM’s ending

You're in for the best television show ever made, with characters and environment in Deadwood grow and evolve instead of remaining entirely static like in other 'great tv shows.' And the dialogue is on another level and approaches shakespearean levels.

Previous threads:

Characters don't need to "grow and evolve" in order for the show to be good. Having a character dealing with the characters around him and creating change, good or bad, can be enough.

What did everyone think of Al being in love with Trixie?

>dat feel when death claims you before the reunion
Goddammit. Cy was such a great mirror of Al, one that actually was a heartless bastard through and through.

Then you are a retard. It's not the fucking middle ages. That enormous body count would be a disaster for Hearst. His foul play is more concealed.

Why would you skip three seasons of a TV show just to watch the spin-off film? I started season one last week and I'm at the start of season three. I'll watch the film when I'm caught up but this is just a stupid question. It's the same with people that think they can watch the Twin Peaks Return first, without seeing the original run or films.

You will not understand anything or know who any of the characters are.

>His foul play is more concealed.
Evils of civilization and all that.

Depends on your outlook I suppose. I like to think that people are capable of change, and stories which allow for that speak to me more than those that don't. There have certainly been good shows about characters who don't fundamentally change (Sopranos, Mad Men, Justified, etc), but the dynamism of Deadwood puts it above them for me.

He's always been in love with Trixie.

Still the greatest show. Cy's presence was greatly missed in the movie

Movie throws some flashbacks for context, but you REALLY want to see the show first, yes.

greatest scene in the show*

it was a little disappointing and unrealistic.

>He's always been in love with Trixie.
He had a soft spot for her but I never thought it love. I always thought he spared her because of Star, having him indebted to him would have benefited him down the road and all

While I agree it would have been awesome to see (and he came real close), it's better that he didn't because it shows how he's grown and become a family man. He's got his priorities straight.

I haven't seen anyone mention it yet in any of the threads, but did you guys notice Dillahunt playing his third Deadwood character?

I’m a pothead and I still thought the flashbacks were the worst part

Open the fuckin canned peaches

So was Caroline Jen's secret sister or not?

You ever go straight at a thing?

Yeah it was clearly a fanservice thing, with the way the camera held a little longer than if it was just another background character.

What was the point of swedgins fatal illness when the real guy got his head caved in ten years after the show is portrayed? If they were going to be unfaithful with that then why not just have hearst get killed anyway. Also, didnt the doc have tuberculosis? How is he still alive after all these years.
