Bran did almost nothing in the show besides giving Arya a dagger and telling Jon (through Sam) who he really was, but he gets to win anyway. D&D reached GRRM's ending without having to show their work, and I don't think GRRM's ending is good anyway.

The fact that Bran has this magical skill of knowing every single thing that ever happened or will happen, but hey didn't do fuckall with it, or the fact that we had these mythical ice zombies building up to be a world-ending threat but lol arya stabs them and that's it.

It's clear, at this point, that D&D, and maybe even GRRM, didn't know what to do with the ending. Bran's abilities should have been used as a weapon, but they weren't because of bad writing.

Anyway, he invaded with only his cavalry just burning and capturing free shit, which eventually forced back Tywin west to stop his base of power from crumbling. (Again, they made this a much smaller/vaguer matter in the show, but in the books Tywin getting stopped there gives him time to hear about what happened with Renly/Stannis and march back east again and wreck Stannis at KL)

The Tullys only rule the Riverlands because of their good relationships. They marry into strong houses

The Tullys are the lord paramounts, yet they are weaker than a good portion of their vassals. Then the Tullys got pushed out of power by the Freys, but Tommen named Petyr the lord paramount, despite the Freys getting Riverrun itself.
This technically makes Baelish a "great house" despite their power being rather meagre.
House Tully was a great house because they had strong allies and the backing of the iron throne. Once that dried up, they got usurped by a stronger riverland house, i.e the Freys.
