OP is complaining about the lack of facial expression with "realistic" cgi. I think it's an issue and this version will not be as good as the original, but people think cgi is better than hand drawn animation. So guess it doesn't matter.

You'll have to see that in motion to be able to tell, if they do a good job it should be fine. I already find them pretty easy to tell apart just from those pictures. And there's really no other way to make a realistic live action film anyway.

All black maned lions have that clear first layer, which would probably be enough to confuse the mongoloid public. His entire body being grayer might have been a better choice.

the point is that with Milo and Otis they had to work with real animals and so it took a lot of discipline and effort to make it. Because animals do unpredictable things even when people tell them what to do. I mean they had to do with the Babe movies and those films are kino because it took effort to make them and when there's no effort what is the point in making a film? I mean, that's why it's called kino. It wasn't made in a sterile computer environment, someone had to get up off their ass and film it through a real camera lens.

though that's not to say that effort doesn't go into creating digital imagery...okay, right. So then you would think that the creators would maybe try to create a unique and expressive art style for this film. But then with the jungle book and the lion king and whatever Disney has total control to do whatever they want and the result is just photorealistic animals talking at each other for two hours in very generic-photorealistic environments. It's not an art film...it's just a movie for kids. It's like the most literalist, boring possible way to approach a movie like this. Even Avatar showed more imagination. That's my point and I think everyone else's point. It just looks sterile and unexpressive.
