Did winter finally arriving actually effect anything at all? The north seemed just as snowy as usual and King's Landing is a fucking desert during S8. And the final scene shows plants popping up in the snow, implying that winter was over already.

This show has to hold some kind of record for the largest number of things that were hyped up or foreshadowed that ended up meaning absolutely nothing.

The Lords of Westeros are fucked. They don't see the commonfolk as people and treat them as they would animals. Pawns, sources of entertainment and servitude. They don't deserve the power they're granted over other just because of who their father or mother was or what their ancestor did hundreds or thousands of years ago. they deserve to be deposed and the commonfolk deserve rights and opportunity.

D&D knew Dany still championing that message is too nuanced and grey when a lot of the characters in westeros that we care about indeed are nobles and people who only got anywhere in life because of their last name. So they had her kill hundreds of thousands for literally no reason so everyone would see her as evil and with no way to defend her and thus she needed to be killed before she could do it again

If her descent was developed along 2 full seasons as it should have it would have been less shit for her arc. D&D really dropped the fucking ball on the climax and made her descent to madness completely soulless

Could have been the highlight of the shitty later seasons if done properly. Instead she goes from slightly sad in episode 4 to firebombing maniac in episode 5.

Except even madness needs reason. Aerys as crazy as he was didn't try to burn the entire city until Lannisters were sacking it and trying to kill him. Dany literally goes "mad" and kills thousands of people in a city that just surrendered, for no reason

The point is D&D rushed it so hard their is no reasoning to be seen at face value. It would have been interesting to see her slowly lose her shit while all the pieces around her crumple.

Winter™ was inconsistent. Fucking blizzards ruining stannis a full 2-3 years ago. Sure getting south to the twins lessens it, but it's still shit snow weather that far south. The Vale is basically cut off. Dorne is working intended (doesn't really snow there at all) and KL gets a wee bit of snow as well, but still not as bad as Riverlands/Vale.

Like what's been going on the last 8000 years? Are 'long winters' just a few year period where the NK (or something like it) is active walking around the far north? Why does knocking it off force the planet into spring? Yes, there has to be some reason for the erratic and inconsistent length of seasons that years.

Remember everyone is starving and most crops don't grow in the perma frost or start producing for months if not years. Who know's what the financial state of most kingdoms are, the golds run dry, KL is toast etc. How ya gunna import all that food and material to rebuild/plant.

They teleported from Winterfell to KL in what I assume was 1~2 months (rest + move an army). And the winter fucked off or something over night. And don't get me started on what the 'stuff' was in the last episode, I will always firmly see it as snow, the amount of fire wasn't at volcanic levels, there's no fucking way it could blanket the area in 1-2 feet of "ash" just hours after the fight.
