>just turn your brain off dude
Just turn your brain off dude
>"WOAAAH GO SEE THIS MOVIE IT HAS SO MUCH KAIJU ACTION"
>go see it
>there's still 30-40mins of human set up and more garbage human plot-lines and dialogue strewn throughout
>redditor befuddled by the complex and intricate story needs to pretend kaijukino is as low as capeshit
The part where humans are revealed to be apex predators equal to Godzilla was better than all marvelshit combined
There's only 40 minutes of human drama? Damn, that's not much.
I bet you think the transformers movies are deep too
>went in with no expectations
>still disappointed
>you see Godzilla for 3 minutes again
I just saw it and he's lying. Most of it is human drama
So par for the course, then. No worries.
user, I think the difference was Showa films embraced their goofiness, while Legendary tries to play it very serious and comes across more boring as a result. The latter is also generally 40 minutes longer than your average Toho film.
Yeah, why didn't the director use Godzilla, the good guy, as a symbol for fascism? And American Fascism no less? Is Micheal Dougherty some kind of FUCKING Nazi??? Sounds like this movie is one big dog whistle to far right garbage human shitheads?
>implying gojira wasnt just the nukes
>implying the nukes weren't the best of the available options
That's disappointing, but I'm still gonna see it.
>I think the difference was Showa films embraced their goofiness
aka I watched the MST3K episodes that had Godzilla, all Godzilla films from that era are like that right?
Already lying two words in
If 99.99% of you had a brain then it would be a legitimate complaint.
The movie was still average though.
>play it very serious
There's no way you saw KOTM. The movie was goofy as fuck throughout, even when the world was on the brink of extinction.
This things popularity started as a fb meme. I thought it was pretty funny until my friends started seeing it and telling me how amazing it was. It's like brainwashing, memes are evil
That guys a marvel fag who thinks "no quipping" equals entirely serious. The movie trailers contain 90% of all the quips that are in the film
GODZILLA SUCKS PLEASE GO WATCH AVENGERS: ENDGAME PLEASE
>MST3K episodes
???
I'm talking about movies like
Ghidorah the three headed monsters
Astro Monster
Godzilla vs Megalon
Ebirah, terror of the Deep
Godzilla vs Gigan
Mecha Godzilla films
Bull fucking shit. They quipping was on par with Marvel. Don’t even deny it.
>some random guy shits on godzilla
>kaiju faggot brings up endgame
RENT
FREE
Hey, if I could get a fat paycheck just for lying about how good some shitty movie is, I would.
You fucking wish marvel fag, only one character doing three minutes of quipping total and a black guy yelling every so often
remember boys, disney shills working overtime most for free.
If you want to see it just go see it. Don's miss the chance to see this big guy on the big screen, just cause some marvel fag hates that this is costing endgame's chance to break a record, that will only get set higher.
>DUDE EVERY GODZILLA MOVIE HAS SHITTY HUMAN CHARACTERS JUST IGNORE IT BRO HAHA
Im going to see it tomorrow with mom. Kinda of a tradition I go see movies with my mom still. It should be fun Ive tried avoiding spoilers but I know mothra prolly dies and they find one of ghidorahs heads after the credits.
lmao the cope is real
>Theres literally no political themes underneath the plot.
Wtf is up with critics? People cant just enjoy a movie?
>conflating kaiju movie godzilla with og 1954 godzilla
Critics need to be culled violently
Ok but it's true. Very difficult to find a balance between human drama and large scale ancient kaiju battles
how is it cope?
i don't even like abatap, but i know that it will get a re release before the sequel comes out and retake the record, or hold it even higher.
KotM is pretty much just capeshit with monsters instead of superheroes. they seem to appeal to the same audience.
i even liked 2014 godzilla but this one was just bad no matter how you look at it.
It's the only decent movie in the theaters right now, I've already seen John Wick
and i don't watch actual capeshit so no thanks to endgame or captain marvel, can't believe that one is still around.
>intricate story
The story was fucking retarded.
>HURRRRR, I'm doing this to redress the balance
>If millions or billions die, well that's a price worth paying!
>*Millie Bobby Brown goes missing*
>Lol, jk. I like humans again
And there's dozens of moments just like this peppered through the film. The dumbest movie I've watched in years
no, there's MORE than 40 minutes. 40 minutes at the BEGINNING and even more screen time wasted through out the entire movie after that.
Her plan was going fine until Ghidorah started calling all the other titans to just destroy. Ghidorah is an alien and not part of the natural order, his inclusion fucked up their plan and made her realize she fucked up. If Ghidorah never showed up, she wouldn’t have turned.
did you really think going into a fucking Godzilla movie that it'd be high brow Cinema?
I was saying her motivation sucked because the movie made it not fucking matter when it came down to it. Was she willing to sacrifice people or not? The script writers were too fucking stupid to pick a side for her to follow, so she just did both.
Also, while we're at it, why the fuck was Charles Dance even in it? He had nothing to do. He served as the fake bad guy for like 5 fucking minutes, and then just sat around complaining about Millie Bobby Browns character a lot.
What a garbage film.
There are like at least five that are though. Not the Americucks version though.
Because his delivery on all his lines were great.
And he gets a part in the next one, as a person with power still.
So the dollary doos come in, why wouldn't he want to take a fat check
>Because his delivery on all his lines were great.
He's a great actor, I love him, but take his character out of this film and you miss nothing. Just have the Chick do it. He's in it for a swerve at the start, and that's LITERALLY all he has to do of importance.
>And he gets a part in the next one, as a person with power still.
Doesn't take away the way he was wasted in this movie though. He's basically a famous extra here.
I was expecting it to be fun. Which it wasn't because of the horrible writing for the human parts that there's way too much of.
Skull Island pulled it off so there's no reason this can't.
She was willing to sacrifice some, but Ghidora is basically Satan and wanted to restructure the natural order of Earth to be more like whatever hellscape he came from/was banished from by killing every single non-titan in existence
Kaiju movies do traditionally attract a slightly different audience than capeshit. There is a lot of overlap, but enough of a difference between the two audiences that turning a kaiju movie into a Marvel movie wasn't likely to end well unless it had top tier writing.
Did this movie have an over-intelligent nigger, superstrong Mary Sue, goofy white boy, global warming reminder and overemphatisized homosexuals?
If not I'm not watching. Get with the times.
You're too fucking stupid to understand the basis ass plot. She awakens Ghidorah since she assumes he is rival to Godzilla naturally so they would continue fighting and likely keep things even. When Godzilla "dies" she finds out that Ghidorah can awaken ALL the Titans himself and totally fucks their plan up. It's clear they had a set order and time of when to awaken the other Titans. Remember only the folks at Monarch know he is from space. Ghidorah doing what he did caused pure chaos and not balance like she wanted. So when she realized she fucked up and let's be real she was going to be thrown in jail for life or executed so she took her punishment into her own hands.
I hate this, in 36 movies Godzilla has only been a political allegory in 2 films, the original and shin
The rest were either superhero sci fi films similar to ultra man and gamera or disaster movies
When I was a kid I would wear out Godzilla VHS tapes, so that's a pretty accurate observation Captain Obvious. The 30-something boomers who show up to watch the new Iron Man probably read the comics when they were a kid and want to see it. If it makes you feel any better, I won't pay to see it. I'll buy a ticket to something else and just sneak into several movies that day, like I do every time I go to the movies.
Or don't waste your money and wait for the leaked ver.
And the smog monster wasn’t political?
>Long live the king
>A false king
Come on now
This is dumb brainlet shit. A good portion of the Honda films are political. Hedorah. GMK. Go back to watching Marvel movies boi.
This. There's no sane reason to pay to sit through the "non-CGI monster fightan" that makes up over half this movie.
Unless those bits really did it for you in 2014, and you thought what they really needed were just a few more (lot more) quips.
>MST3K episodes
I know what I'm watching tonight.
n-not a argument
Who's that enormous woman helping Zilla fight that tentacle monster?
OH MY GOD
there's a "main" black lady in the military, but she takes orders from serizawa and the other bois. she isn't really of importance. The super smart ones are either asian or white
Emma is a bitch who doesn't know how to commit and flip flops once she has to deal with her actions, and pretty much all the characters in the movie call her out on it
there's one kinda annoying scientist but he's tolerable. Maddie isn't super strong or a mary sue. She basically just tags along and runs away from things
I don't think global warming is really brought up actually. They mention overpopulation, pollution and wars, but i don't think they even say the words "global warming" at all. Or climate change
there wasnt a single gay person in the film
only global warming was discussed, with the solution to human overproduction being releasing the monsters (with a downside being that Ghidorah is basically Satan and wants to kill everything besides the other kaiju)
All that proves is that there's room for improvement. Stop having shitty standards. Just because the older movies had major flaws it doesn't mean they have to persist in future entries.
>Implying the Asian chick didn't have the hots for Mothra.
[Seductive Moth Noises]
>If you hate this shit you must be a marvelfag, not a true Godzilla fan
i couldnt understand half of what that chink girl was saying
oh fuck you're right
But then again, who doesn't
like regular Godzilla movies?
This happen in the movie?

Is there a good rip out yet
Skull Island's characters were complete garbage. We're they THAT bad
They’re mentally ill. Politics gives them the illusion of feeling important, like an intellectual. All the words and none of the wisdom. Then once radicalized, they can’t see or enjoy anything in life anymore without viewing through their narrow world of indoctrination. It’s straight up mental illness
The entire US military aside from one General (who's portrayed as a hot-head idiot) is either female, black, mulatto or some combination of the three. The only white military men in the movie besides Old Hothead are the murderous eco-terrorists led by Tywin Lannister. Big TWIST, they are taking their orders from evil mastermind Science Mom, like Bane in Rises.
The Asian main characters are serenely wise about everything, Science Mom's husband is a remorseful drunk who hates Kaijus until Godzilla wins his heart. The White scientists are annoying comedy relief who are incredibly not-funny. The daughterfu is rebellious and eventually splits from Science Mom's plan to "benevolently" unleash titanic city crushing monsters when it goes south and Gidorah unleashes them instead.
Characters do more intercontinental teleporting than the last seasons of Game of Thrones.
The main Kaiju's sizes change constantly in the movie scenes as needed. It mercilessly steals tropes from better films, complete with obligatory "T-Rex menacing Jeep" scene, only with Ghidorah and an Osprey.
The monsters are alternately intelligent enough to have motives, then stupid enough to react to a signal device when about to kill their mortal enemy.
Scenes that are supposed to have weight are ruined by shitty quips in a way that would make Joss Whedon blush with shame.
Despite housing the most dangerous creatures in existence, all the Monarch sites have security that can be overcome by 6 guys with AR-15s.
EVEN AFTER they lose a base to the 6 guys with AR-15's, security at the other installations is still weak enough for them to keep taking over bases. This from an organization that has super-bases underwater with lazor cannons, super flying carriers, and it's own nuclear weapons.
From the standpoint of writing and acting, KotM makes Skull Island look like The Godfather part 2.
1st film was a fantastic allegory for nukes, Japan's paranoia of nuclear war and dependency on foreign aid and being a defeated nation.
Every other film after has been nothing but a monster bash to sell toys and fill in theater seats. You're a dumb ass motherfucker if you were expecting more than that. Fuck off cunt.
It's like if Roland Emmerich directed the human scenes and Michael Bay directed the Kaiju action.
reminder if you complain about human characters in a Godzilla movie you expose yourself as a casual and a brainlette
Horribly boring cast of monsters
Let me know when they make another movie with mechagodzilla, or megalon, or gigan, or destroyah, or even fucking moguera
three
'54,'84, and shin, even shin and 84 have more moments of levity
WE'LL HIT THREE BILLION IN NO TIME BABY
destroyah and possibly mecha ghidorah are next
Marvel always win baby
>Horribly boring cast of monsters
>Destoroyah and fucking Moguera
Gidorah is surprisingly non-destructive in the movie. His big moment of destruction is when he bites those powerlines that are miraculously still working and does the lightning multi-directional.
Aside from doing unintentional damage to a city, Rodan's main attack is to flop up against other monsters. I was hoping he'd at least have some fire-related shit.
They already took some cues from destroyah with the whole bit about Godzilla going into nuclear meltdown
Good, if true. I'd be willing to see that.
I just finished watching it, not very good but it was enjoyable.
The next movie is King Kong fighting Godzilla with agile Monkey Fu and improved gorilla-chuks.
This has been known for a while.
is the cam out yet
I forgot to put a "this", because that's exactly how it felt.
There isn't even ONE camrip or screener out there, this movie is garbage.
The fight scenes in Skull Island are simply better;
The creatures in Pacific Rim have actual weight to them.
Remember stuff like the cars jumping off the ground in Pacific Rim. In this movie, the Dad and some poor grunts are running around in the rubble DIRECTLY AT THE FEET of Godzilla and Gidorah in full rampage mode, and not even small bits of rubble are displaced.
As much shit as Emmerich deserves, I still enjoy his brand of trash at times. Watching this flick, I just kept thinking to myself - I wish Roland Emmerich directed this, then maybe at least I'd care about the lame humans.
It's basically 2012 with kaiju instead of natural disasters, and less interesting human protagonists in the way.
I was yelling at the screen at the end when they kept cutting back to stupid family.
Fortunately I was at the drive-in, in my car. So I wasn't disrepecting my fellow theater patrons.
>destroys washington dc
>rises up all the titans to intentionally destroy everything in sight
>wrecks a ton of Boston
>traditionally attract a slightly different audience than capeshit. There
thats one way of saying its capeshit for weebs
just came back from seeing it and it was fucking terrible
I was fucking prepared to leave the theater if they had an extended "San Andreas" CPR moment with the fucking daughter. I would have left, I was so damn tired of all of them and their retarded motives.
Okay Ive heard enough. Not gonna waste my time.
shit taste
How have so many of you seen this already? It's not even out on torrents yet.
More shit was destroyed in Man of Steel than directly by Ghidorah, setting aside his base/prison.
Godzilla pushes him through a building, that's pretty much on Godzilla. He cuts a building down while fumbling after Evil Mom, because he's suddenly too sluggish to run down a Humvee.
Man, I really hate this kind of people. Have tangential knowledge about a topic and think they're the shit.
they need a threat to team up against so they don't end up killing each other, hence destroyah
did you see it?
>Monster running at each other
>cut to human shit for 5 mins
Nice anti climax there
My theater has been showing it all weekend?
I have a good job, and can afford their $22 ticket-lg soda-lg popcorn scam?
This isn't my native board, I actually pay to see movies.
Some of what the main asain guy was alittle difficult. I dont recall his accent being as strong
Lots of kaifufags are too used to having only shitty movies that just getting a decent one has them salivate and praise it as a great movie(maybe only technically if compared to their own franchise).
Do you think capeshitfags think that Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Superman 3-4, 1990 Captain America, Fantastic 4, etc. are good and enjoyable movies for their genre? Even in recent times they will properly criticize and complain of their movies that they can see as bad/weak like BvS, Justice League, Age of Ultron, and Iron Man 2.
Kaijufags though, will accept +30 more minutes of boring human drama just so they can get +10 more minutes of more monster action.
based and redpilled
I'd be willing to bet its some OC monster like the shitty Muto, and give you good odds on it being some Evil Chinese Kaiju, now that all the Japs in this "monster universe" are kill.
Would have made it better. I don't think we saw anyone eat during the film but less breathe
Nah, capeshit mostly appeals to people who want "deep" or "complex" characters, while Godzilla just goes straight for pure schlock value.
Hello excuse me what is the best Godzilla movie
>The entire US military aside from one General (who's portrayed as a hot-head idiot)
Stopped reading here, you're retarded. He literally listens to multiple people and changes his plans, he's not hot-headed at all.
>movie bad because it is not political enough
Critics are cancer.
Yeah, but they were so calm and serene and wise with their garbled mumbling.
I got a laff when Watanabe's character passed on his precious research notebook; 50ish pages of Kaiju sketches and bad poetry (in Japanese doubtlessly) that everyone treated like the ultimate codex of Kaiju lore.
Guy barely had a cohesive idea of what they should do except "don't kill the Kaiju".
pretty much this entire post is on point, just a terrible fucking movie.
>he's not hot-headed at all.
He fires a "kills all life within miles" warhead at the Monarch people and the two main Kaiju, with barely any warning.
Is this where we are migrating?
>black, mulatto or some combination of the three.
>thinks the mutt military is white
t. someone who never served
The bird colonels on up are broadly whiter than the State of Vermont,
t. someone who's had 4 generations of family in the service.
So you've never seen a Godzilla movie before. Not a good place to start, but okay.
More like 4 generations of inbreeding to get this assblasted about niggers being in the military.
This.
Your average DCfags complained about how Batman and Superman had only little combat, especially compared to a lot of time they spent following useless stuff like Lois investigation, as well as how they stupidly resolved their fight and didn't like Doomsday. Only the hardcore DCfags tried to make it sound it was a good movie, but even then now some of their numbers have now seen the light with how the DC movies can actually be better.
Mark my words that in 5-10 years or so, when they make a really good and well done Godzilla movie, they will finally admit that this movie isn't good.
Bombs don't get camrips
you'll either have to see it in theaters or wait for the webrip in a month or two
>Lives in a comfy volcano
>Dabs on fighterjets
>Dabs on Mexicans
>2quicc4u
>Rapes Mothra and only stops when the sex gets too kinky and she stabs him
>Probably has a cute sister like the original Rodan living in the volcano that he fucks on a regular basis
WHY IS HE SO FUCKING BASED?
Monarch is an international organization, like the UN. It's just American in origin and primary funding.
Also the general isn't shown as a hot head or an idiot. Monarch was given their chance to defend themselves and they walked out of the senate hearing without even leaving a representative.
KotM is better than at least 70% of Toho Godzilla films, prove me wrong.
The military guys attached to Monarch should be special forces, given their role in responding to Super Monsters. Since I realize we are in that age, and I'm not Raciss, I would have been dandy with a ratio similar to Aliens.
Instead it's an Osprey full of women and blacks, led by Colonel Okoye.
As a nice contrast, the Evil Renegade Eco-terrorists and their Colonel are uniformly white dudes. If Disney had done that, you'd be here shitting yourself with rage.
The original and GMK are the ones I liked the most among what I've seen. The first half of Shin Godzilla is amazing but the second half is utter shit.
I also think that's not true. I was reading a bit of a Japan-to-America-after-Hiroshima message there when Mark and Serizawa had their heart to heart about Godzilla and Mark's hateboner. Obviously it's not a clean parallel and I may well be pulling it out of my ass, but I didn't think it was devoid of meaning.
It's slicker/expensive looking.
If that's what does it for you, then I'm happy for you.
7/10's a fair score.
Based grandmas loving Kaijukino
>Went to see the movie today
>Awesome movie!
>wait for after credits scene
>Read cast
>Godzilla, Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan are all there.
>laugh out loud.
Not a valid complaint because she was high level monarch, she would have known. But it's okay because Chen only finds out he's from space later in the movie after digging through the library of myths for references to him and seeing parts that hint he fell from the sky - only in the context of that moment does it click to them that it means he's actually an alien.
Confirmed didn't actually see it
> Moguera, Mechagodzilla
Given how Monarch's tech wildly advanced in the past 5 years, the next movie very well might have a mech of some type.
> Megalon, Gigan
they cpmfor, that Ghidorah is an alien so it's entirely possible but VEEEEEEEEEEERY unlikely
The cast was pretty damn good overall (Monster wise) and everyone gets a solid moment to show off their personalities. Rodan was the usual bitch and was essentially starscream with how much of a bitch he was., Mothra was easily best girl in the movie, Ghidorah was just pure fucking evil and it worked, and the other titans were original creations and they honestly looked pretty damn good imo, especially Behemoth.
Honestly though, the human characters could have been written a lot better but there's not nearly enough dick tease moments compared to 14 with the fights actually being shown.
He was based and a bitch at the same time
I hope toho introduces Legendary Goji into their series after this one is done though.
This one.
The rest of them are unwatchable weaboo shit.
"Don't throw garbage into the ocean" shouldn't be a political message, it should be fucking obvious. Like "don't shit in your kitchen sink".
>destroyah
>interesting
Lol what? My nigga, full grown destroyah was boring overall, he had a pretty neat design but most of the film was just the humans trying to combat him. Green teenage godzilla had more personality in that movie.
as it should be

Maybe not 70% but yeah, it's better than a lot of them. stop being blinded by nostalgia.
I mean, he's a flying monster. I would imagine most people's encounters with him would be him "falling out of the sky" and not tunneling all sneaky, or doing Zillas "up from the depths" shit.
There was no more reason for them to "figure out" he's an alien than the other Kaijus.
>Nah, capeshit mostly appeals to people who want "deep" or "complex" characters
What?
Oh no a mother protected her daughter what a plot hole except it’s not you dumb fag
His mere presence was category 6 hurricane, which earth only naturally has up to category 5. It lends more to his otherworldly origin.
>lying on the internet
Antarctica battle m8
>Godzilla doesn't represent my forced sociopolitical stance, instead him being a giant green monster is symbolic of him being a giant green monster
Mothra’s coming back. Or better yet, make it fucking Battra. Now that moth is decked out, ready to fight.
It was a blatant allusion to that. That dialogue was right after Mark had asked Serizawa for the time as he was looking at his father's dead watch from the morning we dropped the bomb on Hiroshima. Something about forgiving and working together with those you've forgiven for the greater good.
Shin Godzilla
People reacting to fake excerpts should not be allowed to vote or state their opinion publicly.
Sometimes a giant fire breathing reptile is just a giant fire breathing reptile.
Endgame was literally Smooth Brain entertainment, yet for whatever reason critics called this basic movie "convoluted"
>40mins garbage human plot-lines
Good thing, it's flop
>only underage men actually rate it good while the older ones just consider it above average
really shows the demographic alright
If he was a Category 6 (or even 5) hurricane they wouldn't have tons of jets in the air pewing at him.
He was a big spoopy storm cloud with a monster silhouette in it. Rodan causes more city-wide destruction flying away from a city than Ghidorah causes fucking about in it. He's blasting the control booth at the stadium and it's taking out individual windows, not annihilating the entire structure (so brave rebellious daughterfu can rush out safely).
>Son of Godzilla
>Godzilla vs Ebirah
>Terror of Mechagodzilla
>Anime Trilogy
>Tokyo S.O.S
You've got bats in your belfry.
The movie is a bad idea from the get go.
No matter how much you favor monster screen time over humans you have to make it a story of human characters having dialogue. There is just no other way.
The more monsters you put in the more you have to tell their backstories. Then you have to tell the backstories of humans related to the monsters. So to introduce Mothra you have to introduce the Chinese woman.
2014 was a success because it told the story of a family. KOTM is a disaster not because there are too much human screentime but because there are too many characters that distracted the movie from the really interesting part of the plot which is the terrorist family.
If they had used this opportunity to make the women characters who symbolize SJW to pay for their sins they would have won a Cannes award now
He flooded DC man
He turned it into his pool
Why is there so much hatred for this movie everywhere? People who haven't even seen it are posting nonstop anger on every forum everywhere. Why does this trigger people so much?
Is it really just shills?
Holy shit.
All the ugly minorities used in the US military for this movie...
One of the eco-terrorists was a bald woman. I had to keep looking at her to tell but I'm sure.
>the women characters who symbolize SJW to pay for their sins
Emma died to save her family. If you're talking about her daughter, she's supposed to be like fuckin' twelve. She was helping her mom because it was her mom and they obviously didn't mention to her about how many people would have to die for their dumb plan.
Its an awful-as-fuck Syfy movie with 20 or so minutes of expensive CGI monster-fightan.
The anime trilogy was awful. Only the first was was decent. Godzilla was Ebirah was awful, and Terror of Mechagodzilla was a downgrade from the original as was Tokyo S.OS. from Against Mechagodzilla, by lazily writing out the main character from it. Son of Godzilla was fun watching when I was a kid, but the only standout quality of the movie now is it's ending shot.
KoTM shits on all of them.
Hey fuck you, pilot waifu was cute.
I see so many people saying Tony Stark and Steve Rogers and Thor and the GOTG are well written and complex characters who people really care about. I think that's all a bunch of bs.
Mothra's sacrifice reminded me of Super Metroid and Samus getting the rainbow beam.
That's the only argument I ever hear though "ITS BAD BECAUSE ITS BAD". I just don't buy it.
>Everything must be about politics in entertainment.
God I miss the 90s
>movie is deemed shit by "critics" because the woman who blew the whistle to wake up an Illegal alien that brings doom to the planet for some bullshit eco-terrorist motives and it's up to a white man, an atomic breath breathing lizard, and noble asian man to clean the mess the woman has started.
Damn, no wonder why they hate it.
>and they obviously didn't mention to her about how many people would have to die for their dumb plan.
>Literally survives San Fran being raped by a giant monster.
>Brother dies after being crushed by Kaiju
"So our plan is, we repeat this process in cities across the world, for the greater good!"
I think you'd have trouble selling that to a 6 yr old.
Everyone is trying to be an activist these days.
I just saw it, I don’t watch cape Shit or star wars but I assume this was better. 7/10
>CGI SPECTACLE BAD UNLESS IT'S MARVEL
The short-haired pilot was cute
here's part of my earlier "argument".
You'll note no one is contradicting it, because the thread is full of shills who haven't seen it and people who have and wish to focus attention on "hey it's good because SFX" arguments.
I generally don't come to Yea Forums very often but is it always like this? Reading a lot of these posts and threads it seems like most people here like one or two movies and then the rest they hate. Not just godzilla movies either, just, movies in general. It doesn't look like the people here actually like television and film
>It's okay, Monarch has bunkers and they'll evacuate people
Also, it's worth pointing out that once Ghidorah stops enraging all the monsters, most of them chill the fuck back out. It's ALSO worth pointing out that the monster she primarily exposed Maddie to was Mothra, who is literally the nicest one of them all. "See? She's a cute lil' bug monster, and everyone said she was a benevolent goddess, they'll mostly be like that, probably!!"
It doesn't follow the SJW, Feminist, WOKE formula the leftists have come to expect from Hollywood. A White man was the main human character. Women got eaten and fried and the army woman had to have a man rescue her.
Despite the many flaws with the movie, I loved the scene where Serizawa sacrifices himself to ubercharge his bro Gojirra. The soundtrack was nice as well.
Small scene, but I did like when the father stopped his lift to go back for the soldiers rather than mindlessly pursuing his daughter. It was a nice moment.
I would expect a Strawman of that low quality from a Wojack poster.
I think most people have to accept the series as a whole doesn't deserve anything higher than a 6/10.
Doesn't have to be a masterpiece to be enjoyable. Otherwise, who would watch porn?
>60 guys
>.3 points higher than the 18-29 category
>.4 points higher than the 30-44 category
>other godzilla movies are shit so it's fine that this one is shit too!
Get a better excuse.
Pleb alert.
I know, but all this arguing seems like it's coming from a place like this series, outside a handful on entires, are high quality films when in reality it's probably more nostalgia than anything .
>army woman had to have a man rescue her
TWICE!
Wholesome post in an awful thread full of retards and triggered /pol/babbys.
I liked that sequence as well. Hearing the theme was awesome, too. And when we did get to see the monsters fight it was great. Human story had decent elements but the mcguffin was lame and the two mains were just awful; I liked most of the supporting cast more.
Maybe. I've just liked godzilla movies ever since I was a kid, and seeing the monsters I love shown like this on the big screen, in my lifetime was really emotional for me. Especially hearing mothra's theme. Sure the movies might not be the best, but they're great for what they are
I had my issues with the movie sure, but all in all i really enjoyed it. I've seen it twice already, once with my dad who got me into the series. It was really nice
>I liked most of the supporting cast more.
The mumbling Asians or the quipping science dudes?
Watanabe can read even the dumbest corn with a serious face, but that's because he's from the prestigious school of Robotic Japanese Acting.
That's not enough. They didn't give the theme enough screentime to develop it. It should have been more central to the plot so if it was up to me I would have cut Mothra and Rodan from this movie so we can focus on 1. How the women got their crazy ideas. 2. How they hid it from men and did things behind people's back. No doubt here this part is limited by the plot of the bigger franchise. Because I would like to make it look like the two women have betrayed the world. But since the whole Project Monarch and Serizawa the good guy are already doing shits behind the world's back this part of women doing things behind the world has been distracted already. 3. The women should have been asked by someone: what about the people? And they should have given some heartless answer.
It's just underdeveloped.
I just want to see women die in pain that's all.
Shes an environmentalist wack job of course nothing she believes makes any sense.
They exist in real life lots of them a call for human serialization and shit.
>Wife having all of that stock footage of pollution and environmental destruction during her face time chat with hubby over humanity being "cancer cells"
She practiced for this shit.
They said how he can grow his fucking head back so fast is not of this world and all the other weird shit. On top of the legends. Jesus dude just accept it, it’s a movie.
This is one of the saddest posts I have ever read.
Apparently Colonel Lannister the famous eco-terrorist had never before killed anyone during eco-terrorism. Otherwise she's a super-cunt for inviting him in to shoot her unarmed colleagues who trusted her.
>Hear people say Godzilla vs Biollante is one of the best movies and has one of the best fights
>watch movie
>first fight Godzilla just does beams, and tangled up a few times and just shoots more beams.
>fight over
>next fight
>More beam spam
>Godzilla gets tangled by vines again and stabbed in hand
>Biollante charges and bites Godzillas head
>beam again
>fight over, Godzilla walks away and falls over in ocean cuz humans
>Biollante dies
Uh, what was so great about this "fight" again?
I actually found myself liking the military people, which surprised me. I was expecting groan-worthy bay-tier military fellating, but it's worth pointing out (again) that Monarch is a made-up international organization, so there's no specific military they're supposed to represent. They even use F-35s, the generic international F-22 spinoff.
And you want to cut Mothra and Rodan both out of the movie to get it? Fuck man, just look up some fucking ryona porn. Also, clearly you weren't watching Mothra's fight.
As someone who doesn't watch anime hardly at all, the netflix anime Godzilla movies definitely have a very anime feel to them. The first was an interesting concept, but the 2nd was just uber mega shit unless the people were shooting at Godzilla. Had they given off a Titan AE or Iron Giant vibe, they'd have been good, but they feel like someone gave the same old shitty writers a bunch of cgi money and voila we have weebzilla.
>inb4 holy fuck I forgot Titan AE existed
How was the second viewing, my dad go me in one the series with Godzilla vs King Kong. I saw it without him in a shitty theater with shit sound, I'm going to meet him at IMAX tomorrow and get a second viewing.
>not having 100% of your brain engaged so you can see the deepest kinoplexities of KOTM
Must suck to be a small soul bug person.
>When I was a kid I would wear out Godzilla VHS tapes
???
...did you fuck the mylar out of the video cassettes, champ?
>There's a ticker on the Monarch site now talking about mysterious monster-related events
>One of them's a pulsating smog cloud changing directions, thermographic scans reveal unknown emissions
A fucking Hedorah reference, shit.
Could be a critical reception reference.
>The Japan is growing too big in the future so the representatives from future Japan, EU and US sent Ghidora to present Japan. The future Japanese representative thought she was just trimming the Japan but it turns out EU and US wanted more damages than she allowed so she revived Godzilla to fight Ghidora.
Kinda weird when you look at it now
i find myself yawning everytime the humans are on screen
they could atleast have the human plot line be about the effects of the monsters suddenly showing up instead of the family drama that we had
Lucky fucking Mexicans.
>⋈ MONARCH ALERT: The top of a mountain peak has disappeared in Eastern Siberia. Monarch conducting satellite sweep of the region.
>⋈ MONARCH ALERT: Monarch tracking mysterious pulsating smog cloud sporadically changing direction down the coast of Japan. Routine thermographic scans detected traces of unknown emission. Biological entity confirmed.
The two I saw worth noting.
People are disappointed and hurt and lashing out
vs Biollante is overrated as fuck, I really don't understand the appeal
>i find myself yawning everytime the humans are on screen
Welcome to every Godzilla movie ever.
Japan won't even factor in the next installment of the Legendary Godzilla films
>Godzilla is a heroic anti-nuclear hubris monster that rampages in the USA
>Mothra is a heroic Chinese Kaiju worshipped by the Chinese
>All Japanese characters are kill
Don't do it. You will die without a brain.
Infant island exists in the Legendaryverse, and her second egg was found somewhere else. Just because they had an egg and a temple doesn't make her Chinese property. Also, they explicitly say more than once that the Hiroshima bombings woke up Godzilla.
Is there a shitty cam version yet?
The twins and their ancestors are Chinese bro. She was slumbering under a temple built for her in Mainland China. She's a Chinese Kaiju now, and China believes it owns pretty much every island in that stretch of the Pacific.
And this is their studio's movie.
And yes, the Hiroshima bombings were against Japan. Godzilla isn't meant to be punishing Japan for being underneath a bombing, in this franchise Zilla is a nuclear hubris monster.
Well no shit Sherlock. The bad guy literally says she came to him and this was her plan.
>Also, they explicitly say more than once that the Hiroshima bombings woke up Godzilla.
In this Kaiju-verse, wasn't Zilla woke by the Bikini Island nuclear tests? That's US stomping grounds.
>Yea Forums is talking shit about it
>/m/ loves it
Gee I wonder who's opinion on this kaiju movie is correct.
/m/ is based
If anyone tells you it's the original, Shin, or GMK, they're hipsters and you should disregard their opinion immediately.
I'm sure if there's another Pone movie you can go to /mlp/ for an equally unbiased review.
It comes in waves. Earlier today it was largely positive. Then when the evening comes it starts to get shit on.
>Yea Forums is talking shit
Most threads have anons generally praising it. Some are pointing out a few flaws but mostly it's liked
Taking a shitpost thread as an example isn't a good idea.
You know this is only IMDB user ratings right? As in only those demographics who happen to have IMDB accounts? I guarantee most adult men don't give two shits about that site enough to have an account. Hell, I bet most adult men don't even know it exists.
lmao what kind of cope is this?
>Taking a shitpost thread as an example isn't a good idea.
Maybe you guys shouldn't give shitpost threads bumps and attention to keep it at the front of the catalog, then.
I've seen every Godzilla movie and I enjoyed it as a piece of fan service, which is ultimately what these American Godzilla movies are. I don't feel like this series is a malicious cash grab. Stuff like Serizawa pulling a reverse from his famous scene in the 1954 movie shows that whoever makes them does a decent job of researching their audience at least. I look forward to King Kong vs. Godzilla for the same reason.
Going to see it again right now with 2 friends. It's fun but a solid 3.5/5 for me. May be a 4/5 if I enjoy it even more the second view.
whats a deep movie?
That scene went deep with homage.
>Maybe you guys shouldn't give shitpost threads bumps and attention to keep it at the front of the catalog, then.
The other thread died. I moved to this one since it was already up.
How? Those are considered the best by a large margin. How does repeating the standard opinion make you a hipster?
What was everyone's favorite part? Mine had to be Rodan hatching, fucking over the city, chasing the Argo, right into that menacing shelf cloud supercell and Ghidorah's eerie reveal in the clouds, then the following sequence where the Big G showed up and fucked up Ghidorah before the motherfucking Oxygen Destroyer fucked him up
>went to see it with the ol lady
>she was screaming fuck yeah harder than I was
Don't trust these critic fucks. These dudes are straight up lying through their teeth.
They're considered the best by neckbeards that scoff at the other 20+ movies in the franchise that make up the real heart and soul of Godzilla.
Protip: If someone is only a fan of 9% of a franchise, they're not a fan of that franchise and their opinion of it is worthless.
>Thinking one movie is "best" is somehow shitting on the entire rest of the franchise.
As they have been since 2016.
It's just mixed user. Some genuine fans like it others are underwhelmed. The flaws mattered more to some than others but don't act like all criticism towards this film is unfounded.
>people who like trash like trash
call the presses
Mothra circling the city as a glowing bug ready to throw down was my favorite reveal.
I guess I just struck a little too close to home.
So by Your thinking the oringal movie was just as good as Godzilla vs. Megalon
Your opinion is meaningless, please get triggered harder by people knowing more than you about certain subjects and genres.
lol
im just getting into the japanese films and have only watched a few but i thought it was a pretty good nod that serizawa died killing goji with the oxygen destroyer and in this one he dies saving goji because of it
Enjoy the r*ddit upvotes for your witty and scathing reply!
who the fuck is /m/?
mecha
I don't need to "know more about other genres" to know the movie was bad, user.
A board that knows more about Godzilla than Yea Forums ever will.
But they are the best, and thinking that doesn't mean someone also thinks every other movie is shit.
Alright, so what are your personal favorites and what do you think makes them as a more sincere approach to the franchise?
You've got a lot of growing up to do, user.
Stop projecting.
I think Gojira is fantastic and Shin is pretty good. But I don't see why GMK is held in such high regard given its just curbstomp the movie. Ghidorah was pretty awful in the film. And Mothra was pretty much same old same old. Was it the different twist on the story line and Godzilla being a bad guy again?
The only stand out moment in the film was the immobile girl in the hospital getting killed.
>But they are the best
As told by pic related.
Sounds like a loaded question to me.
>muh projecting buzzword
This is just the modern "I know you are but what am I?" and it's hilarious that you think it'll accomplish anything. I have no reason to argue with someone who thinks they know what's good or bad when it comes to things they don't understand.
by that logic, I'm not a Star Wars fan if I hate the prequels. You're fucking retarded user. Part of being a fan of something is hating when it's bad
It makes me sad seeing so much hate for such a fun and enjoyable experience. I loved the movie and the genre and was so happy to see it as loud as possible on the biggest IMAX scree I could. All the flop y’all brings bad feels.
Baragonfags who like their dumb floppy-eared retard.
It's the best curb stomp movie though.
>Was it the different twist on the story line and Godzilla being a bad guy again?
Literally yes. Retards think any movie where Godzilla is LE BIG EPIC NUKE DISASTER REVENGE ALLEGORY or what the fuck ever is automatically kino.
Fun fact:
Mothra in his original movie came from an Malay island and her song was in Malay. It was a symbol Japanese interest for Malaysia
>by that logic, I'm not a Star Wars fan if I hate the prequels.
No, by that logic you're not a Star Wars fan if you think the only good movie is the first one.
It's just well-directed. The pacing is great, the movie is shot with a fair degree of dynamism and keeps the movie interesting to look at in a way a lot of Godzilla movies aren't, etc. It's a well-crafted movie. I don't think the story is particularly interesting, myself. Monster fights are cool, but a lot of Godzilla movies are rather boring to watch despite the action. GMK is interesting to watch despite the action being mostly typical.
Give it time, user, I'm seeing a lot of rabid love for the movie and I feel the same way. The whole theater I saw it with loved it, over half of them stuck around during the credits talking about it while we waited for the final post-credits scene.
Critics hate it and actual fans are mixed on in like with a lot of the other classic films outside of the handful that are generally considered the best. Nothing new.
you're a fucking retard
liking the originals and hating everything else 100% makes me more of a fan than shit eaters that allow the defilement of the franchise. Get your brain checked
Baragon jobs big time tho
>As told by pic related.
I'm legitimately curious what your favorite Godzilla movies are.
>Himself
>Himself
>Herself
>Himself
Did give me a good chuckle.
>Monster fights are cool, but a lot of Godzilla movies are rather boring to watch despite the action
I'm kinda surprised to hear this from a fan. If you had to give the entire series as a whole a rating put of 10 what would you give it?
>levels DC
>by simply existing in that general area
See me after class
>The movie was dedicated to the original suit actors, who died while the movie was being developed
That was nice, too.
Would Destroyah defeat Ghidora?
There are 30 Godzilla movies and you can kick and scream all you want but the original is an outlier now. You can love it all you want but it doesn't make you a fan of the franchise.
I'm just going to remind everyone that Gamera's Heisei trilogy is still better than any Godzilla movie ever made.
It's not a perfect movie but I was left satisfied
Human stuff was a nonissue to me, felt no strong feelings towards most of it beyond Serizawa and Chen (the way they integrated the Mothra twins into this universe was great and I hope to see more of it in GvK)
Everything all the kaiju did was perfect, though
I genuinely can’t believe how terrible the dialogue in this film was. The problem wasn’t it having a shallow story, the problem was the human parts felt like treading through shit.
not the original guy you were arguing with. I love a mixture of different Godzilla movies. Just calling out your braindead shiteater retard logic
Invasion of Astro-Monster, Godzilla vs. Gigan, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, Godzilla: Final Wars.
unironically turn your brain off during the human stuff
That is pretty crazy. 65 years later and the suit actors finally died.
This is actually true, but it was lightning in a bottle and Gamera was never that good before it and will never be that good again, if he ever even comes back.
Sounds like back pedaling to me.
Well it was pretty clearly implied she was, if not, descended from the Shobijin fairy twins like in the Showa films. She'll always have a special connection to Mothra.
What I meant with that post is in this movie the doc is doing exact the same thing as the future Japanese character.
There is only so many variations you can get from a BVS plot
I actually thought the human stuff was hilarious because it was so bad. Unlike 2014 where it felt sincere but in a horrible pro-military Michael Bay shithead way, this movie felt like a self-aware b-movie, especially the dad and how every line he spoke was delivered like a generic action hero one-liner or something.
>This is just the modern "I know you are but what am I?"
Ah yes, because clearly "u need to grow up xD" is such a highbrow argument. Fuck off until you have a real point.
it's not, not the same guy, you're a retard
>Fuck off until you have a real point.
I had a real point but you didn't like it so you crossed your arms and ignored it, so I decided to treat you like a toddler.
What about mah nigga??? Why do they always do him dirty? Cause he isn't Japanese?
So Mothra's lore is that she's implied to always be the same being that gets reborn over and over right?
>I-I don't get it, so you're retarded!
If the original has no attachment to the rest of the franchise it's an outlier, deal with it.
If someone only likes the first Friday the 13th and thinks Jason sucks then they're not fans of the Friday the 13th franchise.
>I'm kinda surprised to hear this from a fan.
I like enough Godzilla movies to consider myself a Godzilla fan, but I probably like the "lower end" of kaiju film quality less than others. I doubt my reasons for liking GMK are that unusual; Kaneko's Gamera movies are well-regarded for broadly similar reasons after all. I'd probably rate Godzilla as an overall series at a 6 or 7. I think going higher than that would underestimate how many mediocre movies there really are. Godzilla has some great highs but it also has some pitiful lows and lots of ho-hum stuff churned out in between.
Why are you creating this marvel boogeyman as if most people who see Endgame won't also see KOTM?
Yes, a Godess that reincarnates. In the original movies she has two tiny foot tall Shobijin (little beauties) that most people call fairies that follow her around and act as her envoys basically, and had a musical part to power her up, summon her, revive her, etc. That part was sort of homaged by the twin Chinese scientists

I just got back from it and thought it was cool. The monster scenes were badass and the human story was fine. Objectively speaking, the first one was a better film though. The audio in IMAX was genuinely next level, possibly the best audio a big blockbuster film has ever had. It felt like a revolutionary experience in that regard. I saw Endgame and Shazam in IMAX also in the last two months and this movie sounded different, louder and more bass-y or something. I enjoyed it a lot, Godzilla and Ghidorah were both badass. Even Rodan had some cool moments.
Godzilla was heading to Tokyo according to the credits.
Your taste is unironically shit or you’re a retarded fanboy if you thought the human parts were fine.
datebook.sfchronicle.com
It's from a nobody, but it's real.
Emma's plan was full on retarded. Even her trying to justify the reasoning for awakening the titans was dumb. All of the characters called her out for being for fucking dumb. Dumb bitch still went with her plan cause she's a bitch.
I didnt care for the family plot taking. Movie would have been great with just the military chasing the eco-terroristd awakening titans.
VHS tape would wear out if you used them too much or had a shitty rewind machine.
They weren't nearly as good as the human storyline in the first one, not by a longshot, but they were ok otherwise. The characters weren't unlikable and it worked as well as it needed to to keep things moving from place to place. It was fine.
King Kong is next. Godzilla vs King Kong next year.
Based Freudposter.
I thought that the Stranger Things girl was going to play a psychic who could control or communicate with Godzilla to a degree. Was kinda disappointed with her role. The Japanese movies are weirder, more scifi, and with way less budget (cheesy practical effects), yet better somehow. Not to mention the cute Japanese girls who ironically end up as more likable, competent, and memorable characters, despite supposedly been just there for eye candy.
How hard is that one going to bomb I wonder? Its marketing campaign is going to have its work cut out for it trying to overcome all the anti-hype after KotM
[insecurity intensifies]
The supernatural element made it unique and interesting, the fake paranormal documentary crew was endearing, the unexpected happy feel good ending was great, the military characters were likeable and human, the fight scenes were well-choreographed, well-directed and shot, the protagonist was a sexy and attractive tomboy, the way the story ties into the original was great, and the balance between human story and monster scenes is perfect. There's much more going on in the story compared to the original, but it's excellently paced and fulfills a viewer's expectation for monster battles, and not ones with constant interruptions like KotM.
>Dude the government is inept lmao
>anti-hype
u wit? This movie is hype as fuck and people want more. People already liked Kong. The movie sells itself, especially since they're going to end up having to team up and fight Mecha King Ghidorah anyway.
I did think they were going to go the psychic route with her, giving her some connection to Mothra probably. But I didn't mind how they went with it - the chinese doctors being this universe's shobujin satisfied me on that front.
>referring Rodan as a pteradacyl
Lol
KotM is already bombing. Projections are dropping to like $130 million this weekend from an initial $250 million. It'll be lucky to break even and normies will internalize the talking points saying how it sucked. KvG is going to be a really hard sell after this.
>Mecha King Ghidorah
>tfw no badass female from the future will longer control it
It's already a step down.
No one is surprised that it is bombing, user. The first one did too and it had way more hype. Still good movies though. And everyone who saw this will see Godzilla vs Kong, it's fine. There most likely won't be anymore afterward though, but I never expected any different frankly.
im glad theyre starting to take it in a more "fantastical" direction with the mothra magic stuff and how theyre confirmed to be literal gods and also keeping the lore behind Gidorah
