American animation is incredible. Art and character design, however, are another story. Animation in America is crippled by being shackled to child audiences, everything has to have little kid appeal, and that often means making the characters look exaggerated and goofy looking.
Why do the duckfeed.tv boys have to be so cucked? Every time any animation comes up they're immediately spewing about how horny Don bluth is. I though mid Western cucks were eager to leave their faggy milqtoast origins behind
I wouldn't go that far, oftentimes the animation has been terrible, and its as a result of characters needing to be in constant motion. I think the best examples of this are when Spielberg reinvigorated WB in the early 90s, Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, etc, some of the animation can be fucking atrocious. It's highly variable, though, as the animation was farmed out to studios from all over.
There's a real irony in the best episodes of those WB shows in that period almost consistenty being by the Japanese, though.
The worst casualty is the storyboarding, though. Look at America's current output, storyboarding's all that's done in America, and even that's fucking trash.

Western animation places a heavy emphasis on fluidity of movement. These works are animated at double or even triple the framerate that your average Anime is. So it works out that Western animation is usually a lot less detailed, but is visually very fluid. Japanese animation consists of detailed artwork but it isn't as fluid in motion.

Don Bluth's Titan AE was a better Lensman than the anime Lensman was.
I hate the way his characters move when they speak and emote... Flailing their limbs and contorting their faces in that overly exaggerated way.
I'm not quite certain how to describe what is wrong with it, but to me it is very odd and unpleasant.

I thought it was theatrical and unnecessary too but growing up with his films it’s tough for me to not be charmed by it, especially with the state of western animation now

american animation has twice the number of frames per second than japanese one, and cost x10 times more to produce, and therefore is twice as good
If you include the amount of anime scenes that are just ultra long pauses on a single frame, then American animation probably has four times as many.
