How fucked is Warner Bros?

Attached: WB%20Pictures%20700.png (700x700, 306K)

maybe they think they can reply on harry potter, but fantastic beasts 2 made 200 million less than the first.

Don't forget Nancy Drew the movie that bombed so hard WB didn't even release any numbers for it

the mouse is swamping them, every month they release a potential blockbuster. WB have been swamped

All of their movies make money. They're not box office hits but they're not flops

The Mouse is going to scoop up WB for wicked cheap.

I thought it went straight to DVD.

One bad year is nothing. It'll take a decade of trash to come close to ruining them.

Movie was a 5/10 and Sophia Lillis was always in tight clothes.
It was tv movie quality tho

>>Joker looking to be one last kick to the balls critically and commercially
I doubt very much that Joker will fail unless you think it should be making a billion dollars

Not this year

In addition to Detective Pikachu, Shazam, Lego Movie 2, and Godzilla WB has also had Isn't It Romantic, The Sun is Also a Star, and The Curse of La Llorona all of which did horribly and the next few movies aren't going to fare well either

It did not but was probably meant to

WB isn't exactly the most competent studio around

it's been well over a decade of trash

if you think wb is in trouble dont look up paramount or lionsgate

La Llorna is not a flop, it made $120m on a $9m budget, their success ratio for low budget horror is one of the best in the business next to Blumhouse

>WB has also had Isn't It Romantic, The Sun is Also a Star
Weren't those only released theatrically to be eligible for awards or some shit? The Curse of La Llorona also made 120mil off a 9mil budget

they'll just reboot harry potter and make bank

they literally can't because of the AT&T acquisition

Everyone knows Lionsgate is in trouble but they do have John Wick

Paramount has Bayformers and the Mission Impossible movies

at&t bought time warner a year ago

Paramount ONLY has Mission Impossible, look at the dropoff for The Last Knight compared to Age of Extinction

Isn't It Romantic ain't winning any awards

Attached: ISNTROMANTIC__37553.1557339249.jpg (400x600, 90K)

I think it's better than Blumhouse now. All those conjuring movies but Annabelle made over 300mil worldwide which Blumhouse couldn't do with Get out or Halloween

Paramount is gonna be bought by some chinese company next year, Alibaba Pictures is the firm candidate.
You read it here first.

regardless I belive that was the intention since it was made for streaming and didn't release outside the US

That's not a super secret insider knowledge, look at the way the industry is going. You're either Disney, a low budget horror movie or nothing.

john wick does great for it's budget, but it's not a megafranchise.

maybe more studios should try making more mid-level franchises that cost like 60 mil to make.

WB did this a lot last year. I don't think they had a single flop. At least nothing major

Pretty bad when The Curse of La Llorona is by far their most profitable film recently

>reboot harry potter
Not actually a bad idea. Besides POA and that animation sequence in Deathly Hallows 1, every last one of those movies is an inconsistent, unstyled, progressively incomprehensible clusterfuck.

Attached: hp_still_2194.png (480x205, 94K)

Hey besides now JKR can make the diverse edition of HP that she so clearly wants!

>Sazam Underperformed (it actually did about the same as the first captain america and Batman Begins on a much smaller budget)
>Fantastic beasts did about the same as Man of Steel, wich WB alledged at the time was a mild succes for the studio, still very dissapointing for a movie in the Harry Potter franchise, but also not a flop
>LEGO Movie 2 bombed
>Pikachu at best will break even in the end with home video, but considering the marketing it had seems very unlikely. So yeah, that`s a flop
>Godzilla is looking to bomb
>IT was the highest grossing horror movie of all time, even if the second one makes only half as much it would still put it on the top five
>Joker could go either way, but WB made sure not to spend too much money on it, so even if it flops won`t be that big of a loss
The conjuring franchise is still doing well, and they seem to have finally understood the DCEU, They`re still not as fucked as Sony or Paramount, but they`ve definitely seen better days.

Seems like an opinion. Look at their sales m8.

I'm sure they'd enjoy cashing out and dragging it on even longer by making it a TV show.

they didn't understood shit, Aquaman had Jason Momoa openly campaigning for the Snyder cut and it made billion dollars, Shazam had nothing and it made laughing 300.

why don't you go look at them because they're fucking shit

they shouldn't have fired alan horn for "being too old"

Joker can't flop, even the absolute shit that was the Joker in Suicide Squad is what largely made it hit over 700 million
the character recognition is too strong, and the budget being only 50 million means it will be a success if it makes like 250 million

this isn't the first time they've done this either. remember w.b. feature animation and their many bombs?

Do you honestly think Mamoa talking about the Snyder cut a few times is why Aquaman made a billion?

>it was the fictional snyder cut that made the difference

Attached: 700.jpg (200x313, 10K)

snyderfags are mentally ill and think they actually succeeded in boycotting Shazam because it betrayed Snyder's "vision"

>Pokemon can't flop it's the biggest franchise in the world
>Shazam can't flop Aquaman made over a billion at the box office

DC shill here. We have finally figured it out. Believe me.

you'll see

Snyder is always a recipe for success, the very mention of his name makes billions

Attached: 2904829084.jpg (905x1186, 372K)

I won't see anything except me being right again

you people say this shit every time and every time you're wrong

>>Pokemon can't flop it's the biggest franchise in the world
if Joker had a 150m budget it could flop
>>Shazam can't flop Aquaman made over a billion at the box office
and it didn't

Attached: 1552100403302.jpg (960x932, 64K)

Fantastic Beasts 2 did fine

Attached: file.png (889x544, 125K)

how about the time you said Aquaman would flop, easily identifiable mentally ill disney shill?

Attached: terrible image.jpeg.jpg (1014x452, 130K)

>it 2 September release
>not end of September leading into October
>beginning of September

wtf are they thinking? September and January are where movies go to die. They're not even giving it a chance.

how about the time you said Captain Marvel would flop, take down Endgame and the entire MCU? Or how TLJ totally killed Star Wars? or How Shazam would make more than Captain Marvel? or how Detective Pikachu would be the second biggest movie of the year because of all the trailer views? or how Godzilla would be huge getting close to a billion? or how Aladdin will totally bomb because people are sick of live action remakes?

WB wants to pull a Fox but knows it's impossible as long as the studio makes money

Even the shittiest of Disney movies made almost as much as Aquaman the best of the WB movies. What does that tell you?

it barely made it's budget back. Rule of thumb on foreign is they get 35%. Some countries they got 30% some 40%, domestic is 50%. So they made 260m against a 200m budget. That's ok, but not great for a harry potter franchise.

One is Alan Moore adaptation which is a miracle that it made any money at all.

Another is chopped version of Zack's arthouse film that he himself still doesn't consider fully his own.

And neither has anything to do with DCEU (other than Watchmen was The reason Zack was hired for MoS).

>DCEU under Zack
>every next film is more profitable than previous (Aquaman was filmed during Snyder Cut, hence why he didn't used classic Orange suit in JL)
>Zack steps out
>Josstice L that barely made any money because it was advertised as Zack's movie
>Shazam that wasn't outright flop because of cheapest production costs
>both were less profitable than previous ones
>both used John Williams theme
>both didn't contribute to Snyder cut getting released

and there was also attempt to kick DC cinematic universe with Green Lantern, that didn't go well too.

But yeah, Snyder man bad. Don't release The Snyder Cut of JL hahaha

That's very true, but also remember the movie was a clusterfuck and they were battling against the negative reception towards Depp at the time (there were multiple instances of people trying to boycott the film since he was in it/women who would have seen it refusing to see it because of him) - and then the fact that the script itself was a disaster.
If they can clean up their act for FB3 I think they have a fair chance of making some coin, especially with the good cast they have.

Attached: deppboycott.png (582x1835, 433K)

>defending TLJ out of nowhere
geez I didn't know the disney shill part was actually 100% real, it was just a prank lol

also no one really "boycotted" Shazam (Zack Eben himself praised it), it's WB boycotted themselves with not Releasing the Snyder Cut and falling for Rotten Tomatoes meme.
Natural causes.

Attached: wiseman-says.jpg (640x521, 64K)

what does that mean for the other 14 Marvel movies that made less, including Thor and Spider-Man?

And they just hired some prissy vampire faggot to be the new batman. WB is fucking done.

how about the time Yea Forums said Solo would flop?

Why didn’t you mention anything about aquaman success

Disney hired Snyder Cut and BvS writer to save Star Wars, yep TLJ didn't kill it but it was nearly dead.

Nobody knows how much Captain Marvel really made.

Don't give a fuck about Pokemon and Kaiju

#ReleaseTheSnyderCut

Tsujihara made a deal with the devil for WB to have one year of succesess. The deal ended once the succubus he made the deal with was exposed.

fantastic beasts 2 was supposed to be a set up movie for bigger plans, the others will gross more

and what year was that supposed to be because WB hasn't had one since Tsujihara took over

>Shazam can't flop Aquaman made over a billion at the box office
No one actually said this.
You're delusional if you believe one of the most iconic characters of all time won't be a success

>2017
>not their year

Shit taste the movies are the only good franchise
you are such a fucking fag, no wonder this board likes nothing of quality

No chance, JK actually loved the movies because she isn't a book purist like her tumblrina fans. They are all great besides goblet of fire. There's literally no way to even cast the movies 1/10 of as good as they were.

Nobody cares about television shows faggot if you think game of thrones made as much money as the potter films you're a shithead. It will be a billion times worse, can't wait for the amazon lotr fuckup.

They are actually really concise compared to the books and 5-8 meld really nicely, are you a retard? 4 is the only inconsistent one at all.

GoT sold some mad merchandise though, and considering that Harry Potter has multiple theme parks, it will only help their cause, no matter what they do, as long as it's Harry Potter and not any other spin off. A TV show would be an easy long-con to get more people to buy merchandise and getting even more people to their Harry Potter world inside of Universal Studios. After all, it's pretty much all about the merchandise.

They’ll be fine

Attached: 23E8A7BC-7609-43D1-9390-3B3626A9291D.jpg (640x1014, 101K)

Potter has theme parks, and JK rowling penning the fantastic beasts sequels.
She loved the movies and liked cuaron and yates' work a lot even though it wasn't book purist. If anything after fantastic beasts they will do actual potter sequels before they ever even think about rebooting it.

shazam underperforming is most likely because most theaters got rid of it in favor to bring back Us. I know my theater chain only had shazam 2 weeks after endgame came out but we were told to get rid of it to bring back Us, cause the studio said so. I'm not kidding. We also literally had captain marvel up till like last week

To add even Cuaron has expressed interest in loving the idea of returning on anything rowling is involved in. Even del toro wanted to get into the potter franchise back in the da.

and godzilla isnt bombing, desu my theater sold out more for that than most showings of rocketman. We cut servers from Rocketman to help serve in Godzilla cause it kept selling while the other barely sold

>How fucked is Warner Bros?
theyll be bought up by china

It's true, Shazam lost about 2,500 theaters in a matter of 2 weeks, and deadline was hinting at "studios being furious that theaters were not keeping their deals just to have more screens for Endgame AND Captain Marvel"
that shit didn't happen with Rampage when it was screening against IW despite making less money in the US

>*single handedly saves WB*

Attached: The-Batman-Robert-Pattinson-Bruce-Wayne-Confirmed.jpg (798x420, 23K)

And Marvel gave their biggest film to the guys who made You, Me and Dupree. It's over, marvel is finished !

They were successful last year

It made 130 million only. 1/3 of the 1998 film

This likely only hurt the domestic, and probably not that much, to say 5% would be generous. Boycotts are almost always a loud minority.

Joker will make money because it only has 50 million budget. Also their horror always brings big bucks because they are super cheap. Shazam was also cheap
Also WB is owned by AT&T.

Based. Batfleck was fucking awful, why Snyder chose a fat geriatric to play Batman is beyond me. Don't @ me Pajeets.

Is that a joke?

No they weren't the only real success they had was Aquaman everything else was a disaster

All those films listed made money

Attached: Screenshot_2019-06-01-16-14-23~2.png (720x437, 50K)

The Goblet of Fire was the best one what are you talking about?
>That's my boy!

nope
they had their biggest year yet. Aquaman made 336 million, while Wonder Woman made 412 million and 2018 was still bigger than 2017

If Sonic The Hedgehog doesn't flop Paramount already has another franchise in their hands.
Bumblebee rebooted the franchise and did very well on the box office for a movie that was against Aquaman, Transformers series is safe for now.

>shazam underperformed

But they are making a sequel,I don't think that happened

they released the last It in september
they have the joker coming out in october, it's a good schedule

Only real big flop this year was dumbo and that's Disney.
All those other """"flops""""" did fine

a sequel that will get canned or go straight to DC universe streaming service

>LEGO Movie 2
That came out?

>Yea Forums will defend terrible films "as long as its not Disney"
cancer

Attached: 1437275597124.jpg (1062x1062, 495K)

Shazam had a Deadpool tier budget, it did not flopped in any way.

not him,but Harry Potter is no masterpiece. It's decent at best.

They used Danny Elfman for JL
It may have been advertised that way but everyone knew it wasn't snyder's movie, either before or after 1 scene.
Why wouldn't they though, they have the footage and a 3 hour soundtrack. It would be printing money and that's what every disney fag fears, that this would just get jumpstarted out of nowhere.
While the mcu is stuck in it's lame phase 4 that no one but an onion is excited for.

Deadpool had a smaller budget and performed way better, and it was R rated which usually means not good money, sorry about your cuck DC movies

>moving the goalposts

Globet of Fire was the last good movie in the series.

Disney is buying them as we speak

Sequelitis. Even shazam is a shitty superman

that doesn't mean Shazam is a flop.

no, it was the first shit one. it was fucking trash

>shitty superman

but that's Vision

I hope Disney buys them just to see Yea Forums squirm

You guys know these “budgets” include insurance to pay the actors, right? Avengers doesnt make much money because of how high the salaries of the 45 mediocre actors are. While a movie like Godzilla is mostly cg budget

Deadpool already was a known hero you dumbass, meanwhile a lot of people still only known Shazam by the Captain Marvel nickname and his movie was released only 3 weeks before Endgame.

>anything that doesnt make 1 billion+ is a flop
shitty meme desu

because 2017 was an even bigger disaster you stupid fuck

2017 had Justice League, King Arthur, Geostorm, and Blade Runner

reddit is over there.
disney does not make as much as an isp who has just merged with sprint as well.
Knew the shill thing started as a meme, but holy shit it's funny to see when you guys don't understand business.

Blade Runner was a bigger failure for Sony Pictures, Warner only distributed the movie in the USA.

dawg the weekend isn't even over

You still didn't beat avatar

Inconsistency, lack of style, and leaving the viewer dazed, confused, and lacking in comprehension is par for the course for the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

Attached: no.jpg (1594x2857, 578K)

lego movie 2 made rex a villain, fuck them

>pay everyone in hollywood cuck wages
>earn the audience's respect
>charge cheaper theater prices
>all the extra billions made give to charity
Everybody fucking wins.

Attached: 451516.png (1000x743, 86K)

Deadpool had like 3x the marketing budget and it was marketed everywhere
even then if it made 350m it would still be a success
a huge hit doesn't make movies that perform worse failures
