Can you bring McDonalds into your theater?
Also it's good. Not as good as 2014 and definitely not as good as Shin Godzilla, but good.

i dont really know, i usually just bring a backpack with cheat meals (its really the one time i eat crap its when i go watch kino so i make the most of it), and be lowkey with it, never been bothered by and never asked the staff either, and i dont think they give a shit as long i dont leave trash behind like burgers do.

Sure, bring a burger. There's parts in the movie all about human drama that frankly doesn't matter, you should focus on eating

for me, it would be crab legs

I'm in the theater right now. Literally alone in a 500-seats room. No matter how good the movie is, the experience will be pretty great on its own

KOTM and Kong tied for enjoyability IMO
2014 is lesser than both above.

Watanabe is the best human character in the movie.

His assistant, Dr. Chen and Charles Dance were good but they didn't do much.

Kyle Chandler, Vera and MBB were GOOD in the movie but uninteresting. Their family subplot didn't work.

The humor is annoying in most places. Sometimes as annoying as Marvel quips.

The rest? Great

Monster Action-There are 3 fight scenes in the movie but there is also just scenes interacting with Mothra, Ghidorah, Rodan and Godzilla. You see Ghidorah and Godzilla a lot. Rodan 3rd and Mothra the least. But Rodan and Mothra scenes are great for how few there are.

IMO Rodan's appearance scene is absolute KINO which leads into the 2nd fight of the movie.

The soundtrack is forgettable to acceptable except for the classic themes which are GREAT.

i'd give it 4/5, 7.5/10. I've grown up with godzilla. seen them all.

>what am I in for
kino monster fights but too many human scenes that make you want to kill yourself at how shit they are. praying for a rerelease theatrical cut with just the monster scenes

>better than 2014
Really think so?
I think what went wrong in this movie was that they learned the wrong lessons from 2014
I agree with you most about Watanabe. He had the best scene in the movie

I liked it, 3/5. it's a fun blockbuster that delivers what it promises.

You're in for what is arguably the best Godzilla movie ever. It's great. Have a great time.

>delivers what it promises
the trailers made it look more kino than it was, even though they were undercut with cringe

Yes epic fuck the critics! Be sure to preorder your Alita Special Edition Blu-ray too and afterwards we can go back to my place and watch Batman V Superman Ultimate Edition.

>being this mad

Wew that's a bit too far, but it's top 5 for sure

Millie was so hot and cute in the film. Wish there were ass shots of her. Cant believe pedowood wouldnt even hook us up with some good camera angles

>His name is King Ghidorah
>Did she say Gonorrhea?

reminder that this is actually a line in the movie

Monsters fighting monsters, and that's it. If you're a fan of Godzilla you'll like it. If you expect a addition to cinematic art history, you'll hate it. As a Godzilla fan I loved every single minute with a monster on the screen. When it came to the human plot, they did the absolute minimum and that's fine.

>Did you have that speech ready?
>i got it from a fortune cookie.
>a really big fortune cookie

quips are fucking shit, when will marvelshit leave us

imagine unironically being a consumer whore for low quality products produced by massive corporations but telling yourself that you're fighting for the counterculture

>they did the absolute minimum
I fucking wish. There's like 15 fucking human characters and 90% of them could've been cut without any change to the plot.

Yeah that was inexcusable
All the other jokes in the movie weren't too bad but that one was unfortunate

Yes I do, I watched 2014 and Kong a day before KOTM. I loved 2014 back in theaters when I saw it but I've watched it like 5 times since then and this last time there's just some really dull moments and the monster teasing just makes me angry.

I really just dislike Edwards now, After that garbage Rogue One it made me re-evalute 2014.

2014 was objectively better.
>better directing
>better cinematography
>better acting (Aaron Taylor was serviceable)
>better fight
>fights had more weight
>scale was incredibly well done
>better score

Damn, I guess we just have different taste, since I think Rogue One is the only good disneywars movie.
Could you agree that KOTM seemed to try to fix complaints about 2014 by having more Godzilla screentime, but messed it up by making the movie even more about human characters?

>better score
That's a flat out LIE

canned beans

Everything about this post is critically honest (even if you like the new film)
Only thing i disagree with is the score.

I suppose.

they should have just dropped that family and have it follow Watanabe. But MBB and Chandler are confirmed for 2020.

2014 didn't even have a single classic theme.

Chandler wasn't that bad, I liked his performance although I hated how he was written, MBB was fine I guess

Human stuff is all shit and for some reason there are 10 characters, most of which are completely unnecessary. Only good character is Serizawa. They won't stop cutting away from monsters to show the worthless people trying to get out of a downed plane or drive away or something. It needed one drawn out, 5-10 minute pure monster scene instead of spreading it out between the human garbage. There's nothing as creative in the fights as the atomic breath beheading or the chain-propeller whip. Overall I was disappointed, however the monsters are all portrayed beautifully (Ghidorah intro and Rodan intro were kino) and had a ton of personality, so I'm still very hyped for Godzilla vs. Kong.

yeah, I should have said, Chandler, Vera and MBB were good but their plot was uninteresting. the dead kid didn't work.

>There's nothing as creative in the fights as the atomic breath beheading or the chain-propeller whip.
Agreed, but I did like the fakeout at the end of the Godzilla vs Ghidorah fight when it looks like Ghidorah's head is getting back up.

Can we talk about the amazing lore that is established?

Subterranean civilizations, San Fran and Vegas are deserted with massive radiation, I imagine Boston will suffer the same fate. DC is destroyed. Ghidorah is revealed to be an ALIEN.

Amazing stuff established. That's practically a human story written for itself in future films.

Attached: ghUXFo4.png (1920x1080, 577K)

and the monsters being drawn toward skull island and the villain buying a ghidorah head at the end of the credits.

The whole point of the dead kid is the reason for the movie you mongaloids. The chick joined a ecoterrorist group because of it. They gave an okay human story to fit with a monster movie about who is Alpha. Do you guys really care about the humans at this point? NO!

I was fine with the human shit. Yeah, it was melodramatic, but I wasn't as bothered by it as I thought I would be. I was more irritated by the camcorder shaky shit during non-action scenes, but that was only at its worst in the beginning or I got used to it. The monsters rightfully steal the show and Ken Watanabe is always a treat. Soundstrack is pretty great too.

And monarch building mechs

It's a fun time, pass by McDonald's instead of getting popcorn (it's unironically less fattening depending on what you get and it sure as hell costs less)

I feel like the 1st movie had more "heft" in the fights, if only because there were less cuts away from the monsters when they fought. "But wait", you say "wasn't cutting away from monster battles a big complaint about 2014" Yes it was. And they do it even more here.

The directors did a lot of good things but the human scenes are poorly written, except for Serizawa and Jonah. The transgender character's father whispers most of his lines. I wanted someone to yell at him WHY ARE YOU WHISPERING? There are a lot of STUPID 1-liners in the film. I think if you shot the writer and had all the humans ad-lib their line it wouldn't be any worse.

I can't understand why people complained about Aaron Taylor in 2014. He kept his mouth shut and never tried to be a comedian. Are you here for the actors or the monster? The humans in the movie, with few exceptions, are insufferable and I am very disappointed KG didn't kill them all.

>Kong isn't there
He won't bend the knee!

Final act is weak as fuck

>implying an alpha mammal will ever submit to an inferior reptile cuck

how can he stand like that in the middle of the deep ocean? Is he light as fuck?

>I can't understand why people complained about Aaron Taylor in 2014
People complained about him because they wanted Cranston and the trailers set it up as some Walter White vs Godzilla shit only for him to die in the first 30 minutes to be replacing by his much less entertaining son.

reminder the two on the right are in KOTM at the waterfall watching Mothra hatch.(the characters, on the actors)

Attached: Kong-Skull-Island-Final-Official-Trailer-10.jpg (1280x572, 96K)

This. The switcheroo was enough of a disappointment to taint the rest of the human story.

Who gives a flying hoot in hell about that guy? Everyone who complained about Bryan Cranston not being in the movie long enough saw it for the wrong reason. It's "Godzilla", not "Bryan Cranston and some Mutant Lizard"

can you get any more cancer than this?

>who gives a flying hoot in hell about that guy?
A lot of people, especially since the movie came out like right after Breaking Bad ended so he was at one of the heights of his popularity.
>It's "Godzilla", not "Bryan Cranston and some Mutant Lizard"
I think the ideal is that you get a good lead actor and Godzilla. Honestly they should've just made Ken Watanabe the protagonist of this one and ditch the family drama.

Implying a poo-flinging ape is a match for the personification of nuclear horror

The new score didn’t stand out as much as Desplat. And I despise movies trying to appeal to nostalgia. I would rather have something original.

I think that the better directing is the thing that sepparates both film. KotM was such an amateurish film.

this should have played in the credits
youtube.com/watch?v=vm7Eyh5vCXg

I'd have loved to see this in the film. Shame that the narrative focus was in the stupid drama.
Fuck, so much wasted potential on this movie.

she is so gorgeous

Attached: D77sCxJXoAYgqhM.jpg (1024x630, 90K)

Wait, that girl is one of the Asian twins in KotM?

>And I despise movies trying to appeal to nostalgia
Then maybe don't watch decades old franchises?

You're a dumbass if you think that majority of people, even in nipland went to cinema for Godzilla.
Every single movie since Gojira was propped on the star-power of whatever starlet(or few) of the year they got their hands on for the annual movie.

Anyone hear like 20 seconds of this during the oxygen destroyer scene?
youtube.com/watch?v=kWMoErUnaJ8

Not only that but the trailers heavily featured Cranston. He was definitely a huge draw and axing him in the first act was a dirty bait and switch.

Which is a shame because they had 5 years to fix this mess. I didn’t have a problem with the darkness in the last movie, but in this not only was it barely lit, for some reason Dougherty thought it’d be great to have shakey cam close ups. Seriously, why is every battle a fucking zoom in on the monsters face? The last act had this laughably bad scene with Ghidorah dropping Godzilla from the sky and it looked like an N64 game. I just don’t understand how you have a bigger budget with more time and fuck everything up.

>not even Japanese see Godzilla for Godzilla
that was stupid even by 4 chan standards, rabbi

Attached: eat shit.jpg (400x505, 133K)

>not snacking on candy every time Rodan devours one of the jet pilots

Attached: 1559345694717.png (680x414, 256K)

That’s not what I mean, brainlet. I don’t like old franchises going, “remember this?!” As a fan, I’m already aware of what I’m getting into. This is the problem I had with Jurassic World and the new Star Wars, as well. An appeal to nostalgia is a cop out. It didn’t help that the old score was badly implemented, as well.

Me and my friend both saw this movie and he liked it but not as much as me, and went on to say watching it again he'd fast forward through the human stuff. I then asked him how he felt about the human stuff in the older films because their screentime is similar in terms of there being more of them than Godzilla action and he said

>That's true and the human stuff is sillier but at least it's not boring and not as drama focused.

was he right? Because let's not pretend the human stuff, outside a few, is interesting or super engaging. I also think movie length plays a factor too.

Attached: 1f914.png (512x512, 24K)

What would you say are better than the 2019 Godzilla? Ignoring nostalgia I'd say All Out Attack, 2019, Destroy All Monsters, the original, and Versus Destroyah are the best Godzilla movies with Tokyo SOS being a personal favorite.

Attached: 1559409882276.jpg (2700x4200, 822K)

Movie length is definitely a factor, and I think tone too. The John Everyman lead stumbling around constantly interrupting everyone got really old really fast, especially coupled with the quipping science guy.

My absolute favourite is Destoroyah, that movie is just perfect

I thought the human stuff in this was the worst it's ever been. The stuff in the 2014 Movie was dull but it didn't feel overly melodramatic or anything it was just a soldier trying to make it back to his family. In this it was like a fucking drama of its own, not to mention all the additional pointless characters who are there for (terrible) comic relief.

Shin Godzilla

I agree to some extent. I was watching Ghidorah the three headed dragon the other day and it was just silly. I actually wondered what the new films would be like if the humans were less dramatic and had some of the same artistic aesthetic as the old films.

Black people can't swim

He's right to an extent, this movie did make an unnecessary effort to make you think there was Complex Human Drama with the family shit and the terrorists, which turned out to mean basically nothing. If they'd just boiled the human plot down to terrorists steal a science fiction device, little girl steals it, scientists try to figure out how to help G, it would have been better. Just cut the mom and dad out of the movie entirely, they were distracting.

She was cute. I was surprised she's 40.

I agree with your friend. The drama needs to go. This film had so much wasted potential.

KOTM has shit characters, but the worst part is that they're boring. Plenty of other Godzilla movies have shit characters but they're not usually boring. Go watch any of the Heisei movies, particularly Space Godzilla, Godzilla vs. King Gidorah, and Destroyah. The human stuff in those movies is just as fun.

All out attack is absolutely not a good movie. Some of the worst human drama coupled with awful fights. I did like Godzilla’s edge lord look, tho.

Yeah, I think I did.

They're boring and the movie expects you to care about them way more than you do, especially the mom. What the fuck was the deal with them making a huge thing out of her dramatic sacrifice complete with sobbing reaction shots and dramatic music? Did the movie forget that she's a lunatic that started all of this and unironically killed millions?

A major theme of this movie seemed to be redemption, I just think they handled her character badly. Her dumb powerpoint presentation went on WAY too fucking long and probably would have played better as a broadcast rather than a back and forth dialogue.

Ghidorah was easily the highlight of the movie. Did not think they'd do him justice but they went beyond my expectations. Rodan was great too. Still not used to mothra's design but it could have been much worse.

The human scenes were no worse than what you get in most of the Japanese films. And KOTM cuts back to the monsters way sooner and more frequently than in the Toho films.

Making the heads having different personalities was genius

his toes move really fast so he can tread water

>theme
>of the movie
What the fuck, there was any sort of thematic development on the script? lol

Watanabe’s delivery of the line saved it. I didn’t mind the humor in this film. The dad from Get Out was kind of funny in a weird boomer way.

>nd KOTM cuts back to the monsters way sooner and more frequently than in the Toho films.
And it cuts back to the humans way more frequently. It needed just a couple more segments where we really got to see the monsters slugging it out without cutting back to the bland fucks on the ground.

Did you watch it? It wasn't exactly subtle.

God that scene should have cut before that crap. They had the joke with the watch, that was enough and lead into the serious discussion they had. Then just CUT. No need to squeeze in a goddamn joke. Are fortune cookies even Japanese? I thought they were Chinese.

If you think of Godzilla as a metaphor for god it’s actually kinda deep. Vera Farmiga is one of those white women who converted to Islam after 9/11.

It wasn't that bad, it somehow felt kinda real

There's also a major plot hole with the stupid Orca device. It's just plays the recording, and everyone acts like it's the only device that can play sound on the entire planet. Since they know what the alpha sound is, wouldn't they just save it and distribute the file to, oh, I don't know, every other media player with speakers?

PSA: if you are going to make a general, please don't replace the thread title with a joke like "chadzilla"
A lot of people Ctrl F specifically "Godzilla" to find the current thread and not having it show up leads to duplicates

Ghidorah as Satan was pretty great. Lots of nice Dante's Inferno references.

they don't want it to fall into the wrong hands

The girl is someone else. It’s Dr Chen’s twin sister.

>>Not as good as 2014
Your right it is better than 2014 because you actually see Godzilla

mothra is a cutie

She's like 1 week old you sick fuck.

Five guys cheeseburger Is what I ate when I watched it .

Based amerilard going Zilla moda

>go see kotm with girl
>movie ends
>walking through the theater hall out to the car
>she asks why in the hell we have a bajilion marvel movies but only like 2 godzilla movies in the last 20 years
Marvel fatigue has set in kek
as for the movie, I liked it
I was sad when Mothra died though. She sacrificed herself to save the big fella. :(

It was in the wrong hands 95% of the time. Since they went to a lot of trouble to get it back, distributing the file to everyone's smartphone seems like it would have been a wiser option than risking their life for the stupid device. Plus they could have driven Ghidra nuts by having 5 or 6 people in different places playing it simultaneously.

Everyone got their free poster, right? They had a big fucking pile of them at my theater.

Giant gorilla vs giant red hot radiation beam breathing lizard

What was the poster design?

I got a free collectors ticket which is pretty fucking cool.

Attached: IMG_20190531_012554.jpg (3024x4032, 3.57M)

why is it held in such high regard?

We don't know what multiple sources of the noise would cause Ghidorah to do.
Gambling with the lives of billions is inherently more risky than gambling with the lives of some petafags on a goofy looking stealth bomber.

How many fucking posters does this movie have?
I swear to god I've seen more than ten by now and they are all great

Why don't you do it yourself, kiddo?

>you see Godzilla
Good laugh. If you count extremely dark rainy shots as “seeing”, more power to you.

Nah, it's better than the first one. Much more entertaining too.

The rain never affected my view of him.

That cover of Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult at the end is the sickest thing I've heard in years.
You bet your arse I was whistling along to it.
"OHHHHH NO! THEY SAY HE'S GOT TO GO! GO GO GODZILLA! YEAAAAAAAHHHH!"

I mostly agree except i found the score surprisingly enjoyable, i liked the frequent use of vocals

And the credits song was fucking awesome, although apparently it wasn't new? Never heard it before

Not the dude you replied too but i don't think anyone really cares about the human shit in a Godzilla movie I'm glad they did as little as possible and fit in more fight scenes

I'm on a phone I can't

It did you tard

went to see the movie in imax last night
got home and watched sophie dee's new vixen scene in 4k
was a good night to say the least

>The rain never effect my view of him

This. even if it did 2014 had darkness and rain during fights too I'm pretty sure Godzilla had less than 10 mins screen time 2014 was a fucking joke compared to KotM

I want the BD already because a lot of scenes were wallpaper/poster worthy

It's a cover of the song "Godzilla" which was made by the greatest band of all time: Blue Oyster Cult.
youtu.be/muUZjovOFRg

the mutos has 2x as much screentime as godzilla in the 2014 film
yeah, monsters in general are cool and all, and those were designed incredibly well, but it's still no replacement for godzilla himself

>that final shot of Godzilla roaring with all the monsters kneeling
Gimme that shit

I think the movies may be just too long. trim them down to 90 min and make the humans like the old Toho movies (often forgettable but entertaing, less marvel quip era) and I dont think many would be complaining as much about the humans.

Tfw did the exact same thing last night

Attached: D4AD642D-6456-4FFE-97B1-6B58668C3DAD.png (604x613, 257K)

>b-but Godzilla 2014 has 10 minutes of screen time!
And those 10 minutes were way better shot and directed than whatever steaming pile of shit we got in KOTM. The final act was marred by constant cuts to probably the most useless fucking family drama in film history. Fuck this movie and fuck you delusional honey mooning faggots.

>implying he wasn't there and not just

Attached: 1559275199412.png (34x49, 3K)

And those 10 minutes in 2014 are interrupted by them constantly cutting to the gay military action with the charisma-void actor. Even the fights are interrupted by the soldiers cheering gay shit like WOAH YOU SEEING THIS?!

Honestly wasn't expecting that muto coming out of nowhere thought they would forget about it

this is correct
youre a fucking brainlette if you think this shot is anything special

>Goji sleeping in the ruins

>Hurr there's a symbolic object in the foreground therefore this is good cinema

Reconsider your future posts. KOTM had some of the blandest, most uninspired direction I've ever seen.

I absolutely agree that 2014 was better directed but KotM compensates by getting more over the top with the monsters. The ideal would obviously be to find a middle ground

How does Ghidorah sound? New? Or do they re use old voices? I'm thinking of watching it in IMAX very soon

Attached: 70f6028.jpg (1080x1440, 182K)

>suicide mission vs muh daughter
When it focused on the fights, it was executed perfectly. There were no constant cuts, there were no shakey cam closeups, and the plot line was objectively more interesting to follow. The CGI was laughably bad in the final act.

>retconning this hard
Godzilla 2014 is terrible between Cranston's death and the final fight
every damn time I watch it I have to fast forward through the train nuke sequence or I'll fall the fuck asleep

new, but sounds closer to his heisei roar

why are they afraid to focus on the fights in Legendary Godzilla films?

New, and honestly a bit disappointing. He doesn't really do his chittering cry.

Attached: 1532655167158.png (810x1200, 703K)

Honestly it's just easier to say they at opposite extremes and just need to return to 90 min films with forgettable but silly characters and nointerrupted fights.

I'd still day KotM is better than a lot of films throughout its 30+ movie run. Not all though.

The 1024 movie had its problems but this is still the best scene out of the Monsterverse

youtube.com/watch?v=lmZJiBZtahk

does it feel like a marvel movie?

A little bit, yes.

>dumb fucking gigantic spaceship homebase
>too many quipping characters
At times, far too much.

Is this better the Shin? I don't want to go see this today and be hit in the face with diversity and other western propaganda.

Attached: file.png (885x898, 768K)

No too many black people and quips not worth watching at all can't believe mods let this many shill threads stay up

Its a completely different animal compared to Shin. If your first thought about a movie is "how much diversity is in it" you're a total faggot and you'll probably get really fucking triggered by this film.

I can 1000 times assure you that there is no diversity propoganda you obsessive cuck. Unless the mere existence of black soldiers trigger you, then maybe.

>Is this better the Shin?
As an objective film? No. As a Kaiju or action film? Yes. There’s a lot of TLC and soul given in this film as homage to the classic Kaiju films of the 60s and 90s.

>I don't want to go see this today and be hit in the face with diversity and other western propaganda.
Legendary promised to keep Monsterverse apolitical, and has so far honored their word. So kudos to them.

Not nearly as good as Shin, but they're also a very different movie

There's a scene were two monsters start fighting in the sky and the flying submarine airship with all the main characters on-board slowy pans up the screen and blocks the view. It just lingers on the engines for like 2-3 secs. Wada fuck, why do this shit?
Show me the monsters suplex eachother.

Millie bobby brownies charcter is running away from 3 headed boyo lighting blasts down some stairs. She no joke, gets lamped by a 500kg+ slab of concrete tumbling at 49 mph+. The camera cuts and the next scene is her running out the stair well unscathed. Unbelievable

Attached: 1559281775911.gif (231x351, 1.99M)

the ideal would be
>shorter runtime
>more fights than 2014
>1 or 2 recurring characters that could be as easily described as science man and science girl
>less petafag tier "muh no don't kill all of these titanic monsters they could be peaceful" bullshit
the only character who managed to pull the latter off successfully was Serizawa and that's only because he has a connection to Hiroshima
everyone else at monarch except the japanese girl just comes off as a petafaggot libshit dork

the 2014 movie felt more creative desu

>we didn't get a scene where Mothra clung to godzilla and make it look like he had wings

>Is this better the Shin?
Not really, i get it that some fans don't appreciate it but Shin simply more "elevated" compared to this one's fun schlock, they aim for different things

>I don't want to go see this today and be hit in the face with diversity and other western propaganda.
Take your meds and stop listening to the voices in your head, they dont love you

They aren't really comparable

Cast is diverse, but it doesn't feel like it's forced diversity. Seeing how Monarch is a global entity, it only makes sense as well. There's also no girl power scenes.

>Godzilla and Ghidorah are in the middle of a huge climactic fight
>both stop for a brief second to look at a black civilian desperately trying to run away from the chaos
>they both beam the shit out of him
>they continue fighting like nothing happened
Pretty weird scene ngl

>no girl power scenes
What about the kid?

>Show me the monsters suplex eachother.

This was basically my entire complaint with the movie. It was like the director was compelled to not show any action for more than 5 seconds.

>KG and Godzilla smack into each other causing a sonic boom
>Oh fuck yes finally
>Camera cuts away

And this happens for the entire movie.

Cheap-O McGangBang Deluxe
>buy McChicken
>buy Double Cheeseburger
>buy Hashbrown
>get Signature Sauce
>remove bottom bun of both sandwiches
>put Signature Sauce on Hashbrown
>put Hashbrown in the middle of both sandwiches
boom, more flavor than a Big Mac and about half the price.

If you wanna watch Kaiju WWE then go watch late Showa movies you braindead fucks

There are female soldiers and a lot of military mulattoes led by a large toothed bald sheboon.
Other than that there isn't anything blatantly propagandizing you. They do nuke hollow earth Atlantis though, which rustled the fuck outta me when it happened.

None of her scenes came off as girl power scenes to me. I found her easy escape pretty strange, but that's about it.

Anybody here ever read the comics?

Specifically this series Rulers of Earth is fucking awesome. It's nonstop fanservice shlock in the best way possible. Shit like Jet Jaguar piloting Mechagodzilla.
If you have a favorite monster, I promise they appear in this series.

Attached: Godzilla_Rulers_of_Earth_issue_-16_cover.jpg (988x1500, 536K)

>She survives this
*Ding*

How many issues are there?

There is some forced diversity in that everyone in the army is black or mulatto. Very annoying. A bald black woman is one of the main characters and I wonder who in the hell thought this would be a good idea. It is a better movie than Shin which was boring and didn't even require Godzilla for its story.

That's not really girl power, mate. That's every main character in a disaster and/or monster movie.

>Mothra goes berserk
>She doesn’t calm down until MBB appears in front of her
>she then touches Mothra as a female bonding moment after Mothra beat the shit out of all the male soldiers
What do you mean there’s no girl power scenes? This shit triggered the fuck out of me.

I unironically heard the youtube dude's voice saying Godzilla ex machina when big g jumped out of the ocean and smashed into ghidora right as it was going to catch the stealth bomber. with all its flaws I still enjoyed kotm

25 in that series, but IDW also had two series before it. Not sure if they are canon though

Is it too much to ask for a Kaiju movie to have predominantly Kaiju scenes? I loved the fights and reveals of all the monsters in this movie (Mothra coming from her cocoon and Ghidora on the mountain are my personal favorites), but all the human scenes felt like they took way too long. Maybe Pacific Rim(not the shitty sequel) spoiled me in terms of how many fights can be crammed into a Kaiju movie.

Dumb fuck. It's not that there are any non-monster scenes, it's that every fucking time the monsters fight we get an instant cut to some people acting like morons. This goes on the whole fucking movie.

kino scattered with some shitty decisions like constantly cutting to humans instead of having one continuous fight scene and human shit being boring as fuck. just remove the human drama bullshit man. but over all... kino 8/10

Attached: 1558987797380.jpg (700x1014, 78K)

Honestly Godzilla doesn't really have a fixed canon. Anyway I'll check it out, sounds interesting

Literally yes it is too much to ask

Godzilla movies NEED the human aspect to function.

Mothra went berserk because she felt she was being threatened by soldiers. MBB's mother used the Orca to find the alpha frequency and that calmed Mothra down, allowing for Mothra touching.

I meant canon to the third IDW series

Put down your phone and pay attention to the movie next time.

Why? Not trying to be pedantic, I just don't go to a Godzilla movie for a human story. I just want to see big monsters fuck each other up

Hahahahaha

spics and mulattoes in the military isn't even uncommon
having a squad without a Rodriguez, a Jackson, a Washington, and a heavily BLEACHED.com spic with the last name Diaz is rather unrealistic in today's military
the female combat troops and the bald negress with giant teeth are both very out of place though

m.youtube.com/watch?v=FduP45p-o6k&t=514s

m.youtube.com/watch?v=cmZXJsklxSA

It's been done before. They just really seem to be stuck on the idea that Godzilla fights need to be treated less likes brawls and more like a disaster movie. It's a creative decision, and a divisive one at that.

Because context and relatable characters to view the fights through the eyes of are both 100 percent required to make the fights satisfying. Without it you have nothing to root for and you feel taken out of the movie. There are no stakes

Just saw it, kinda surprised me too how the theatre room was kinda empty. Maybe like 30 people max. Was comfy, no kids to

leak-sama , please post more

> KotM has me conflicted. It has all the elements of a great movie, amazing individual moments. But as a cohesive whole it's a mess. Which I kind of admire about it. By all objective metrics it's not a good movie, and I hate that I have to say that. As far as the elements go with regards to pacing, character development, and just good storytelling I feel KOTM falls short.

You think this person is right? What's an OBJECTIVE good Godzilla movie other than 1954 Godzilla to you Yea Forums, and don't let nostalgia creep in. And what makes that movie better?

holy shit , bree larson was in kong? damn shes a forgettable actress.

I think Vs Destoroyah is a genuinely good movie, you could remake it with Hollywood tech and zero other changes and it would still be great

>better score
I haven't even seen the movie and I think this is bullshit
Just that rework of the classic theme blows anything else in 2014 out the water.

as a guy who liked godzilla 2014 and the human stuff
would i like this movie?
i liked the scale and seriousness of the movie

So here's a question
Will it hold till the 7th in theatres?

>writers actively attempt to remove "king kong saves and falls in love with the girl" tropes from the movie
>audience doesn't even remember who played the snarky photographer girl because of it
such is the life of a weak character who exists because girl

I sm STILL sad
Will we see more?

For the scale and human stuff, you'll like it
For seriousness, no, it gets very silly

Would you consider KotM better than a lot of the 30+ films (Top 10/15) of the franchise or would it go somewhere in the middle?

my gf said the same thing. shes like why isnt there more of THAT! she also loved mothra and her sacrifice for her big boi

>My favorite Godzilla kaiju? Gigan, of course.

Attached: 8447854870192.jpg (556x641, 80K)

>it gets very silly
uhh explain please
I need to tank my expectations

Both are good but not really the same thing, apple and oranges, I quite enjoyed this one

>yfw chadzilla kills capeshit

Would it be kino? He saves us from Ghidorah, and saves us from capeshit.

kotm isn't as serious as 2014
the human stuff is better in kotm imo, but that's just because the only human stuff I liked in 2014 was the human stuff with Bryan Cranston and they killed his ass off halfway into the damn movie

It's easily in the better half/top ten

>Yea Forums freaks out and claims kino every time a crucifix appears on screen
why are you fucks so easily duped by jewish indoctrination?

dont listen to all the niggers shittin gon you. this movie had soe many kino scenes its hard to count them all
>mothra coming down to sub first time with the light beam to heal zilla
>any shot of ghydora
>ken watanabe climbing stairs to godzilla
>old friend
>burning godzilla
>rodan erupting out
just SO MUCH KINO shit.

3 things they need to change
>less cutting between fights of titans, I DONT WANNA SEE THE HUMANS REACTING!
>more day
>more building destruction

You know that part in 2014 where Goji and the male MUTO are about to fight and as they meet a door closes and it cuts to humans?

That happens 74 times in this movie.

I would somewhat agree, I don’t think it’s good but it’s definitely not bad. Objectively its mediocre, average. It has tons of issues but does have things going for it.

there's comedic relief where the 2014 movie had almost none

Even if that were the case, showing a woman using empathy to calm a beast is hardly "girl power"
If that's the case the original King Kong is girl power.

>for scale
No. This movie fucked up monster scale. It’s not nearly as impressive as 2014

the characters fighting aren't quiplords in spandex, the audience won't like it

It takes itself seriously but has some wacky scenes like Ghidora lifting Godzilla in the air and dropping him. It is very reminiscent of the old Toho movies in a lot of ways.

Fuck you are stupid

Literally name one time it happens

Do you think KotM is better than several of the films in the late Showa/Hesei era and the Millennium series?

I'm still mad they fucking killed my girl Sally Hawkins

>Godzilla vs Ghidorah underwater
>Ghidorah dropping Godzilla from the fucking sky
> Ghidorah flying back down like a fallen fucking angel after dropping him
>mothra slowly climbing on Godzilla to protect him
>Mothra charging Ghidorah
>Ghidorah's supercharge

There's so many more, fuck.

The entire final act

We got any images of nuclear godzilla?

It depends on how much you value or not the inherent silliness of the special effects and fights, or simply their age. But generally speaking there's some pretty retarded Godzilla movies and i don't think KotM falls among the worst at all. I'm starting to feel like a broken record but i recently rewatched Godzilla vs Ghidorah from 1991 in preparation for KotM and it made me want to throw my computer out of a window, it makes the new movie look like fine art in every possibile aspect

Personally I'd say so

Honestly it's my new favorite Godzilla movie, but looking at it objectively it's not perfect. However it's definitely in the upper percentile

He might be right but, both he and the other critics are purposely devaluing the importance of the fan service this movie has.
I mean for fucks sake they include the 1954 roar.
That component of the movie deserves more praise.

It's basically a trope of the series that Mothra dies and is replaced by one of her Larvae.

The newspaper clippings in the credits mention a mysteries giant egg, she'll be back.

There's a lot of new backstory, including a prehistoric subterranean city that Godzilla uses to recharge his energy. There's a device that can communicate with the monsters that gets way overused for plot convenience. Also there's a lot more comic relief than 2014.

Cutting to humans for reaction shots and then cutting back to the fight isn't the fucking same as cutting to a different scene entirely and never showing the rest of the fight, dumdum. Kill yourself

>Mothra glueing Ghidorah to a building
>said building shows Goji's reflection
So much cool stuff

>mothra diving down out of the sky with all her legs extended
>mothra unfolding her wings for the first time
>the scene showing the big ghidorah storm and lightning flashes and you see ghidorahs silhouette in the clouds
>the final shot of godzilla roaring at the end
All of the monster stuff was 10/10 honestly

Godzilla 2014 has some really great specific scenes like the airport scene and the atomic breath scene which. Are better than anything in kotm. But the rest of the movie is boring and Godzilla isn’t in it enough

This movie had some amazing photographic direction, best thing about it.

Did you watch the film or were you too busy messing with your phone? IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME TWO MONSTER MEET.

>when mothra pulls an arya stark and stabs rodan through the chest with her butt knife
K I N O

I honestly loved all the references to the old movies and their plots and the remix of the original theme.

Name one of the encounters that is cut short by a scene change in KotM

>Too many monster fights get interrupted with poorly-written drama
>HURR DURR NAME 1 TIME IT HAPPENS
>it happens in every fight
>HURR THAT DOESN'T COUNT BECAUSE IT'S ONLY A 5 MINUTE INTERRUPTION
Uninstall your internet.

>"So...her and Goji..had a thing going on?"
The comedy in hollywood movies NEEDs to stop

yeah theres sooooooo many more. all the monster stuff was kino i wish there was more and less humans. hell when you see godzilla fuckign wake up the music was so goosd

He's a fan of the series as he has the majority of the films and seen the rest he doesn't have. It just goes to show that many of the fans who grew up with the classics still find KotM somewhat average, and thinks some of the older movies are more competent.

He's right tho, KotM always shows you what the humans are doing alongside the monsters but in 2014 it was different, fights were cut short completely as part of the tease towards the big final one. They didn't even show their outcome, we had to be told "the MUTO escaped off-screen yo"

Not him, but you're wrong. It never cuts to a whole different scene when the monsters are about to fight. Now it does cut while they are fighting, but you didn't say THAT. You said they cut away like they did in 2014 where right when Godzilla and the Muto were about to fight at the airport, they cut to the next day. Kotm never fucking does that.

>he prefers monster fights to slow paced moonlit spec ops missions innawoods

What? I don't remember every fight perfectly but it at least doesn't happen in the King Ghidora fights

I saw it 3h ago, almost same, from 200 seats, maybe 20 were taken

This
It's about what you cut too, not just cutting.
Cutting to humans caught in the middle of the kaiju fights gives perspective or the massiveness of the fight itself.
The reason the 2014 cuts weren't good is because they completely defused the situation most of the time, sucking out all the tension that the monsters had built up.

Look at how mad this post makes soiboys when someone admits they don't care for forced inclusion.

It's pretty good but the biggest issue I had was the constant cutting between monster fights and human characters
the only time they really did it right was Rodan dabbing on America's expensive mistakes

>that double fake-out where you think Ghidorah survived but he gets atomic deepthroat death

> Now it does cut while they are fighting, but you didn't say THAT
When you have to reveal your Asperger's syndrome to everyone to somehow make it look like you won an argument on a message board for Cambodian paper-folding, you lost twice as bad.

That happened with me too, it was kinda bittersweet but having the theater almost empty made the experience better.

>2014 was objectively better.
2019 is objectively better.

>better cinematography
Flat out wrong.
>better acting (Aaron Taylor was serviceable)
Brian Cranston was the only good acting of the movie and he died 30 minutes in.
>better fight
Completely wrong.

>scale was incredibly well done
Not as good as KOTM

100% Wrong.

Mostly agree. That woman was worse than Hitler, Stalin, or Mao combined and deserved no redemption for the amount of suffering she directly caused. Her science team was executed because of her and her body count world wide must have reached the millions.

The Asian qt and samurai were great and the action scenes were amazing.
7/10 as a fan but 5/10 realistically. Wouldn't watch a second time because of all the useless family stuff but would YouTube fight scenes I enjoyed.

The IMAX theater I went to was packed. Excpet for the first three rows ever seat was filled.

I don't really feel like the inclusion was forced. Heck, if anything, I wish there was more diversity in the film. The human actors aren't even the point, they should just go for it!

Probably but I really don't want to think about it.

Either way KvG is already being filmed do even if KotM flops we still have a second chance to make enough money to justify more sequels

Was the imax experience good? I kinda want to try it out.

The fact that the Chinese scientist had a twin was supposed to be their version of the usual Mothra priestesses, right?

yep

Weren't their any Japanese actresses that could have done it though?

Mothra is from China in this movie

>giant lobster
>interesting
Pick one.

It's weird that they had what looked like a Gamera adaptation but never actually showed her properly, almost like the design was unfinished or something

This made no sense to me. What does the cross represent? Ghidorah doesn't seem to fit with anything biblical? All I could gather was him being the dragon in revelation maybe?

Really did feel pretty pretentious.

But you see the conclusions of all those fights. In 2014 you literally don't see the fight or you only see a small snippet like in the news footage until the very end.

>demon spreading its wings
>cross in the foreground
c'mon man it's not that hard
it's just thematic contrast

He's Satan, bud
It's not even subtle

>Ghidorah doesn't seem to fit with anything biblical?
They compared all titans to gods

>that scene where Ghidorah sees Chadzilla's reflection in the glass
but yeah, drop the family interest and make the Bong villain and Wantabe the main characters with Bong man just trying to get titan bio samples and ends up releasing Ghidorah in the process

are you fucking retarded user?
it's not even subtle

A tomb? It's not that deep user it's showing people dying everywhere.

Attached: file.png (284x573, 172K)

Ghidorah trying to greater than god(Zill).

He’s a demon capable of bringing about the apocalypse. His roar represents the trumpets of the apocalypse, which reverberates 7 times all around the world. Dumb brainlet

Way better. The Silence while showing the monsters makes them feel much more ominous unlike the 2019 version where its intense orchestra music anytime a monster is on screen.

>Larry Moe and Curly
Who came up with this

The white haired quip scientist guy in KOTM

me :)

They wrote him to fit the bill as Satan so translucently and so economically that if you honestly want to stand by your "there's nothing biblical about him" argument with any sort of conviction then you will effectively be admitting you know less about the Bible than even the most casual of atheists.

Shut the fuck up.

Attached: 1558038243527.gif (286x258, 3.63M)

I kinda feel like they blew their load too early. Ghidorah caused Godzilla to go full nuclear, while he's a bigger name to the general public what can Kong possibly do to be a significant threat now?

Ah, I guess it wasn't in my dub

Godzilla=Jesus
King Ghidorah=Satan
Mothra=Angels
Rodan and OC Kaiju=Sinners

Kong vs Godzilla is just the marketing/name
It'll turn into a team up halfway through. You just know it.

low budget oc

suck godzilla’s fat lizard cock
that would really be weird though haha

>No King Ghidorah's Terror playing when Ghidorah is fucking up DC
>not dropping the Orca plot point and replacing it with 15 minutes of Ghidorah kicking the shit out the mutt military in DC

I know about the bible. I just didn't take satan being a literal monster into account because its kinda retarded.

I guess it works, I just don't see Godzilla and the titans as "gods" the movie kept triyng to show them as just earthly animals form old (save Ghidorah).

If the film was actually trying to show Ghidorah as satan that's a pretty retarded interpretation of Christian canon.

>dub

Attached: 1509045019019.png (275x266, 87K)

Considering KOTM is floundering in the box office and Godzilla’s license expires with GvK, there is no room to do something so underwhelmingly stupid

I’m pretty mad we didn’t get a nuclear red spinning atomic breath like in Godzilla vs destroya, considering this might be the only time we will see burning Godzilla in the monster verse
The first blast wave was fine but there was no need for a second over just a breath

King Kong versus Godzilla turning into a gay monster porno after five minutes of screen time would guarantee a $350m opening weekend in the United States alone..

I can see it, but that then begs the question of who's gonna be the real big baddie

My God
It's dumber than I thought

Attached: 1544481300257.jpg (528x465, 24K)

Give me a break user, it's not like I go see these movies for the acting

I'll give 2014 better scale. Everything felt huge since 90 percent of the shots were from the ground

Attached: Mecha_King_Ghidorah.JPG.jpg (477x412, 22K)

Probably Mecha Ghidorah.

How dumb can you be man?

>I know about the bible. I just didn't take satan being a literal monster into account because its kinda retarded.
Firstly, allusion can be used for thematic purposes without implying 1 to 1 correspondence. Secondly, there is literally a demonic multi-headed dragon in the Bible.

Attached: thirteen.jpg (698x492, 99K)

Did you fall asleep for half the movie? They literally go to an old underwater ruin with tons of religious imagery of Godzilla everywhere. Also Mothra is found inside a temple with similar imagery of her all over the walls. Also also Rodan is literally referred to as a "fire demon". Like the other posts said, the movie wasn't even the least bit subtle about it. Not to mention the painting of Satan being shown while talking about Ghidorahs origin.

>taking revelation literraly

Attached: 1559272480453.gif (300x169, 320K)

>bump limit

Migrate when ready. The other thread still has less than 100 posts

I meant in the movie itself
It'll end with Godzilla and Kong being friends and ruling the titans that all now live on Skull Island.
It'd be a good way to end the series honestly, assuming that the license isn't renewed
Also
>floundering at the box office
Anything that isn't Endgame numbers is now floundering according to Disney shills.

I enjoyed it. It's always a good time when the soda cups and popcorn buckets shake when the monsters roar.

Nah, if mechs were to be involved it'd most likely be a Mechagodzilla. Then again i guess they could fit in that it was somehow created with Ghidorah parts if they wanted. Although in either case i don't expect them to be monster-shaped, unless they go for something like an artificial but still somewhat biological monster-mutant

It'd be cool if Dance created a monster out Ghidorah's genetic material, like Biollante, instead of going the mecha route

those that recognize this truth are few and far between. anyone disagreeing about the score needs to listen to it again and rewatch the movie. the opening theme is fucking intense, the rest flows along with the plot and fits perfectly. everything about this movie works, whether or not you were a fan of it. cranston was good in it even though he overacted a little and the other characters were exactly what we needed them to be, vehicles through which we witness the unfolding of the events of the movie.

Attached: maxresdefaultzilla.jpg (1280x720, 82K)

Imagine being this delusional

It's typicaly what a great action movie is for theater, i don't think the movie would be as cool if you watch it on TV

>For me, it's Anguirus

Attached: 1549214254878.jpg (722x666, 23K)

He means Americans lol

There is absolutely nothing even close to the airport scene or the HALO jump scene. The fact that those two scenes exist makes the 2014 movie seem like a film and 2019 is shot like a flick.
