It's a medium so of course there's trash and gems mixed in, but after years and years of reading, it got stale. Same with vidya and shows.

I mostly liked the humor but I felt like the plot fell apart near the end, about the time the kid started going into his full power. seriously it felt (and I say felt because I checked and that was not the case) like all he did after that was hang in the air and say "my friends are coming" when they would cut to him. a lot of stuff that needed development did not get enough time, IMHO the story should have narrowed its focus, maybe on the horseman, the kids and the doctor who with his gay friend. all the witchfinder stuff was crap, fit for a show that has more than 6 eps, at the same time I found them wasting time a lot in those 6 eps. American Gods is ultra slow, all the characters are shitheads and other than odin no one is even visually cool

I just finished it and it really had some pacing issues. The horsemen stuff was pretty bad and honestly the child actors were terrible. Fortunately John Hamm was fucking hilarious and the highlight of the show next to the two main characters. The ending left me warm and fuzzy with all 3 couples having a happy ending moment.
