Best cinematography since 2001. Best OST from 2001-2010. Most iconic scene of the trilogy.
This was purest kino in the cinema and I still get goosebumps when I see it.

Where did the beacon lighters live? And what did they eat? Someone would have to be on top of all those mountain peaks 24/7
Easton Myers
Did they pay taxes?

>What are shift patterns?
Kevin Williams
>realise the line was beacon, not beacons and Amon Din refers to an individual one
>See file name giving a different beacon it's own name
Good lord, was Tolkien so thorough that he gave every beacon it's own name?
Logan Roberts
I don't remember there being any beacons but but yeah he named every blade of grass in those books.
Ethan Williams
Well, the whole of the LotR setting was supposed to be a proper mythology for Britons, so obviously he was very fucking thorough.

they obviously had living arrangements in the area and probably worked exactly the same way light house workers do, 1 month on 1 month off or some other schedule

“…The Lord of the City had beacons built on the tops of outlying hills along both borders of the great range, and maintained posts on these points where fresh horses were always in readiness to bear his errand-riders to Rohan in the North, or to Belfalas in the South.”

>Belfalas
>Is Belfast but written as if said by a slurred drunkhard
BRAVO TOLKIEN.
Ethan Morales
I seem to remember there being little ramshackle houses next to some of the beacons. Is my mind just filling in the blanks or was that a thing?
Christian Allen
In the movie or the book? I just reread it and there is nothing about beacons and Gondor calling for aid. They haul ass over there pretty much as soon as the battle of helms deep is done. Aragorn doesn't show up until the end of the battle and the army of the dead isn't with him, they help take the ships and that's it. And there are no elves in any of the battles. I'm so pissed about that.
Elijah Diaz
In some of the shots you can see little huts near the beacons.
Brody Price
Cheryl Tiegs, niiice.
Connor Rogers
They would probably at least be manned during times of war.
Hunter White
They lived at the base and summited the peaks when they saw the others were lit. Overall it took a couple months to pass the message.
