Has there ever been a worse step backwards in film history than the rise of streaming?
>lower quality bitrate than blu ray standard from 12 years ago >lack all extras that were present on even DVD >multiple services needed (and more launching all the time) to even get the popular movies, and anything obscure impossible to get >libraries constantly changing as rights move around so no certainty of what you can watch where
For now, physical media is still available so you can avoid all these problems for now, but the day is clearly coming when everything is going to be on a streaming platform, and that day will basically be the death of film.
Nope. Streaming is the reason no one remembers movies after they come out anymore, since it just makes movies into another form of instant gratification.
Adam Bell
They can steam UHD pretty good now. The "step-back" is being eroded by improving technology and infrastructure for streaming. And it's not that hard to get the movies you want, it's still cheaper to subscribe to say 2 or 3 platforms than buying DVDs of new movies.

>Has there ever been a worse step backwards in film history than the rise of streaming? Everyone trying to make a cinematic universe.
Daniel Russell
That's been done since the 30s
Josiah Diaz
I'd like to see the individual rewatch stats on these streaming services. Modern films are practically disposable nowadays considering they would bring zero joy on the second watch unless you are autistic.
Jaxson Bennett
>Paying for shit Just torrent. Go to see the actual kino at a cinema, you absolute mongoloids.
Daniel Thomas
Torrents are 80% from physical media
John Baker
All of your blurays are scratched and worthless. There is a reason why there is no secondary market for blurays
Jose Foster
most people think that pirating is the dark arts. like it's some complex and shifty thing only haxx0rs know how to do.
Evan Sanders
People used to watch this shit in black and white. Image "quality" really doesn't concern an audience as much as a decent story and characters do, and THAT'S where the kikes fail.
A piece of shit that's crystal clear is still a piece of shit.
Adrian Rivera
Fucking idiot. Torrents of ultra HD disks will only exist for as long as those disks are actually manufactured. Enjoy 10 years from now pirating shitty quality stream rips.
Jace Garcia
I consistently see people selling once $60 DVD collections for $1-5
Mason Stewart
>not using 4k streaming
Thank god for 4k streaming, my disc space and/or disc collection would be blown the fuck out if not for streaming
Ian Collins
Enjoy your overcompressed shit streams. That 4K you're watching today has a lower bitrate than a bluray disk from 2006.
Tyler Davis
I'd have nothing against going to the cinema, were it not for how huge the screen is and the poor quality of the sound that makes the ears hurt.
Gabriel Ortiz
Why would I waste money to watch most of the movies released recently? They have 0 rewatch value. Movies are just disposable as music. Humanity's attention span devolved because of social media and internet to a point where we receive so much info we don't really attain anything at all.
Camden Long
Your smartphone also has shitty sound, sweaty
Carter Lewis
Most of the Netflix users only watch shit like sitcoms and cartoons. Shit is just background noise while we do something else.
Justin Nguyen
Good post. I am reminded of an old Onion story which I'll paraphrase: "New HDTV displays even sharper crap."
Eli Jones
I wouldn't mind streaming if it were like Spotify where most of what I want is on there, but even basic shit like Ghostbusters or Napoleon Dynamite you can't find on anything. Unironically Amazon prime is great for stuff like that but fuck paying 5 bucks to rent a digital movie for 2 days. If Netflix would spend it's resources getting proper licenses to stuff that people want to watch instead of dumping it all into shitty originals and standup specials I'd be fine with it. Guess I'll pirate shit until they do.
