Some pleb today said it was boring, can't be true?
They put in fucking lesbians in 19th century, stronk womyn saves the day in the end and there's some retard character. SJW movie, is the series like this also? Can't imagine what kind of soibois like this shit.
>Let him fucking stay there
What did Al mean by this?
what the fuck jewel turned into the abuelita hot chocolate lady
Fuck you, Jewel is based and pure
was it cgi? or is a toy train?
seriously what the fuck are you doing
Should i watch this or the new DePalma film today?
he killed don swayze!
Why did they retcon Jane as a lesbian? Sjw rot?
I spent the night in Deadwood about three weeks ago
Cool little town. Got to see Bullock's grave. It overlooks the Gulch, it's about a half mile hike from the rest of the cemetery where you can also find Wild Bill, Jane and Reverend Smith
Thank you for posting your blog
how come guy pearce just gets "and" and "with" credits nowadays?
It's actually relevant
fuck off nigger
I literally drove 500 miles out of my way while driving cross country just to see Deadwood, I thought I'd share it, if you don't care then you suck cock by choice
I’m going to assume english isn’t your first language so you don’t know what “retcon” means
It means he lived another 15 years.

Try not being so triggered next time, tranny. Go dilate somewhere else
Has Trixie always been talkimg like Yoda? Can't remember.
If you don't think the real Calamity Jane was probably a butch lesbian, I don't know what else to tell you.
What went wrong? Why didn't Deadwood become a big city?
No, the filmmakers did it to appeal to sjws who are into star wars
Kissing a girl when you are drunk doesn't mean you are a lesbian like it was shown in the show. For example I'm not a faggot even if I have kissed boys when drunk.
it's in the middle of the Black Hills. When the mines stopped producing enough to make them profitable, the town died. The West is littered with towns built on the side of mountains that were only profitable because they found gold. The only reason Deadwood still exists is because of tourism, if not it would be Bodie, California
Why is Wu unable to learn English?
>I didn’t watch the show
>I am a faggot
shocking, absolutely shocking
There's no reason it would be after the Gold Rush ended. The Black Hills are in the middle of nowhere.
I wonder what kind of murder rate per capita Deadwood had. For a town that is couple of thousand in size there sure seemed to be a lot of killings.
wow. great story. are you a professor or something? wow.
>Some pleb today said it was boring, can't be true?
It's faster paced than the series.

Still amazes me how a period western drama can be funnier than most comedies.
Were Oysters really that popular back in old em times they'd have there own store in the middle of nowhere?
I mean come on
It also wasn't written until a few years after the end of the movie
Do you have autism?
No, but your moms clam is up for sale wherever she goes
I helped do some vfx for the movie so you guys better like it...p-please.

Maybe because you confuse anti-Semitic or racist shit common 150 years ago as comedy?
Your face is racist.

That explains a lot actually.
I seriously thought you would have killed yourself by now
I mean, goddamn, even Hell on Wheels (AMC, for fuck sake) could afford a real train, albeit an itty bitty one. But a real train, nonetheless.
The hell on wheels train was made out of wood and towed by a truck. Fuck off
How is calling a Hebrew a Hebrew anti-semitic you stupid fucking kike?
My supervisor worked a whole lot on that train. Honestly when stuff looks like shit its usually the clients fault for either asking too much in a short time or completely changing their mind on a look.

Isn't the australian song "the band played waltzing matilda" which is not the same. I only know it cause I listened to the dubliners in middle school when I thought irish folk songs were cool.
no, that is a song, but the original waltzin matilda was written by banjo patterson, a famous australian bush poet

7/10. it was decent. it felt a little rushed, and certain things felt like a bit of a rehash. the dialogue also wasn't quite on par with what we'd come to expect (some of bullock's lines seemed off for his character). but i'd feel weird judging it too harshly given how much i love the show and how long the creators have been trying to give it a proper conclusion. oh, and it was nice seeing johnny get a new gf. :)
The only thing I have a problem with is that Al left the saloon to Trixie instead of Dan. Everyone got something while Dad got jack shit.
because he knew that he was a piece of shit and the jew would be able to provide a better life and environment for her.
How the fuck did they do it? It's like it was never gone. Amazing stuff.
Would still fuck Al and cure his liver with keto.
The lesbians were there from the getgo, retard.
Instructions unclear, necrosis about to set in.
Trixie actually knew the operation and thanks to sleeping with Al for years knew how he did business. Dan was and always will be Henchman number 2

It felt like most of the movie's dialogue was turned up quite a bit from in the old show. It was a little distracting. Everyone sounded a bit more like Brian Cox/Theater Troupe did or something.
I wonder if it was people trying to write dialogue in Milch's place and kind of overplaying it?

Anyone else think that new girl Caroline was Jen's sister?. They spoke of her in the series finale.
She was told she looked like her, and I think we all assumed she had some ulterior motive for being there. She also seemed a little distraught when she learned that Johnny, Trixie and even Al were pretty nice people. Like she was planning revenge but at the end of the day decided against it. That's just the way I'm interpreting it.
Al mentions that he tried opening a bar and whore house in Australia to cy in season one
My review of the Deadwood film is: "what, that's it?"
>t. zoomer who didn't watch the series
underage pls leave
I am genuinely stunned they pulled it off and made a good movie. Deadwood fans have high expectations and from what I'm seeing almost everyone is left satisfied. It's been a while since I've been this pleased with a new show/movie coming out.
Some of the actors felt really exaggerated in their aging. I wouldn't be surprised if they used make-up.
Half of 14,000 actually.
Still though, this doesn't feel like big numbers. Hearst coming out to offer Utter four thousand in cash makes no sense when you had Wolcott in season 2 buying up claims and even authorizing a purchase of 200,000 to that one fat miner.
Obviously a gold mine is worth more than land used only for telephone poles but it feels like something that small wasn't worth Hearst coming out to Deadwood for. You know Hearst didn't give a shit about celebrating statehood in Deadwood after all.
I was satisfied. Felt like it could've been a little longer and Harry working for Hearst seemed out of character
That would be a nice bit of understated context to it. Otherwise it seems like why bother.
Will there be a 4k release later?
I binged it about 5 years ago.
This film feels like half a season compressed into 2 hours and sets up and concludes a conflict too quickly.
Milch's parting gift. I hope he finishes his memoirs before they're all out of his head. He lived one hell of a life, from paling around with Penn Warren at Yale to making and losing fortunes to being one of the earliest examples of auteurship in television.
He’s a good actor tho
>"She sewed the hole in my shoulder closed with needle and thread"
>"Lift your wallet while she was doing it?"
>"That's a dark view of the world, Dan"
I loved it
ahhhh.... 13 years later and finally some satisfying closure. I'm gonna miss you bros.
Only complaints are the flashbacks and the Harry Manning subplot. Seemed way too out of character.
The scene where Nigger General is telling Bullock about Utter’s last moments is fucking heartbreaking. Up until that point I was thinking that Bullock took his death surprisingly well, considering how close they were.
I agree. Harry working for Hearst and Hearst coming to Deadwood in person only to buy Charly Udder's useless land for pocket change were the weakest parts but the whole thing was a little love letter to the fans so you can easily let some minor things slide if it means we get all the players back together for a nice little send off.
Why can't Deadwoodfags handle criticism?
Kek
No? Hearst is arrested and Al died. Whats left?
Mr Wu and Mini Wu killing San Francisco chink cocksuckas.
Not clear that Al died, but he was on the way out. Beautiful moment with the snow regardless.
Leavin' aside Al and his gimp apparently travelled 6 years into the future, and to Australia, to learn a bush ballad that wasn't even recorded until 3 decades later, I'd say it was a fair summin' up.
Deadwood's kind of a tourist trap imo. Go to Sturgis or Spearfish or even Rapid City for the authentic Black Hills experience
Trixie was always articulate and witty.
Al has been to Australia.

Not to 1895 he aint.

Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com gave it a highly positive review, rating if 4 out of 4 stars. He praised the direction by Daniel Minahan, writing, "Some of the best imagery in the entire arc of the show is right here in this movie." He also praised David Milch's writing, stating, "It feels like the product of a creator who fully understands that this is his last creation, but even he refuses to end on an easy note. There can be closure without sentimentality." He called it "a rich 110 minutes of filmmaking that rewards fans without pandering to them."
kim dickens looks amazing at 53
Fantastic and satisfying ending.
Can we all agree that Raylan Givens>>>>>Seth Bullock?
No.
Is the movie the only time we see Bullock shoot someone?
i can't fucking stand her
Is the movie the first time we see Bullock's Christian faith?
Yes. Except for the tv show Deadwood where he also shoots someone. Other than that though I think you are right.
He shoots a guy in season 1 but I think Wild Bill shoots him first
It was worthy.
why? she's hot
Character or actress?
i just hate her in everything. i hate her voice and accent.

i did that with your mother a long time ago
why didn't Doc get much screen time. he was my favorite character.
Watched both yesterday. Watch Deadwood. Domino was unfortunately shitty. Felt forced and like DePalma was begging for attention.
He did have a good amount. Doing good as well even with his TB.
Very obvious that Brad got dentures between show and movie though.
Was the opening scene just a screen capture rdr2?
Bullock was such a fucking boss
Australians discovered america you yank cunt
>bullock letting the mob beat up Hearst until he sees his familys reaction
Pure kino
Wild Bill shot him first actually
this sad attempt at film making sucked. nostalgia-fags are the worst.
i would literally watch the game of thrones finale again right now. i will never watch the deadwood movie again unless it happens to be on at someone elses house or establishment and even then im just going to play with my phone
1/10
Approx $370k today
And I'm sure you think you playing on your phone is some sort of bold statement about film.
thats not at all what i implied. it was just poorly constructed and the flashbacks ruined it. there were literally zero kino photography shots. there is zero re-watchability. i will give props to the actors though. they did a good job of reprising the characters rather than being caricatures of their past
Dissatisfied by the Hearst resolution. He's a senator now, Bullock arresting him and letting the townfolk beat on him a bit is likely to do even less than when Bullock led him to jail by the ear the first time. I don't see how the movie's events are supposed to be any kind of ending to the story of Hearst versus Deadwood.
Everything else was pretty great, though. Also, kek at all these kangaroo fuckers thinking anyone gives a shit about their folk song.
>zero re-watchability
Absolute zoomer
FUK JEW
>Seth hesitates to save Hearst until he sees his wife
I don't like it, but I can understand it.
MILCHED
If I was MILCHED I'd be satisfied. Instead I was INTERNS-PRETENDING-TO-BE-MILCH-SO-THAT-MILCH-CAN-GO-TAKE-HIS-MEDS'D
Givens was a toned down Bullock. We were constantly told just how fucking angry he was but the direction never sold it, he was pretty much your standard swaggering, "Doesn't play by the rules," cop and what made him interesting was his history and the supporting cast (and his interactions with them). Bullock was constantly on the verge of a mental breakdown, everything about how he comported himself and his actions showed him as a lawman sick and tired of being a lawman, about two seconds away from snapping and murdering every motherfucker in his vicinity. The scenes where he's trying to play peacekeeper between Steve and Hostetler are fucking amazing.
The fact the townsfolk have the stones to beat him in the streets is a huge step-up from how it once was. It's a petty victory that won't do anything to Hearst in the long-run, he'll move on and still be rich and powerful, but Hearst is a petty man who'll never forget the one time he got fucked.
Where were Hearest's fucking guards or even the two lawmen? That was awfully convenient. And Harry dying was just for satisfaction and made no sense
It was just an end to the characters I guess
Post your favorite quotable line
>"Pitiful effort."
>"Whose name, if i ever knew it, has been lost to me"
>Bullock doesn't go on anger tantrums and gets teary-eyed and squeaky-voiced anymore
Not happy with this development. He was a bit too calm for Utter's death
Does the doc get cut in?
No, Raylan was a boring cunt.
Eh, he was in enough. Why the fuck didn't Merrick get any lines
And Seth isn't? lmao
the movie wasn't anything "essential," it felt like fanservice to an extent. people really wanted more Deadwood and that's exactly what they got, a bit more Deadwood. it tread all the exact same ground as the show but in less time. Hearst being a Senator didn't change the equation at all, he's still exerting his power in basically the same manner as before. the telephone didn't change anything, Deadwood's incorporation into the United States didn't change anything. Hearst even returning doesn't make much sense, he's a Senator, but he needs to get his hands dirty just to build telephone lines? his motivation is the same as the show in that he feels he's almost divinely called to civilize Deadwood and the rest of the world. i might've liked to see Milch try to explore a different enemy or get more ambitious on how politics and time were changing Deadwood.
characters and writing were fantastic, sets too. it was one of the best put-together shows ever and the movie was too.
for me the most interesting thing was, IMO, how the movie demonstrates that television is the superior medium now. everything in the movie develops quickly, Hearst shows up, starts killing, we're on our way. the movie really maximized the use of its time but there's something to be said for letting a story unfold in 10 episodes. you can throw in some more quirky and flavorful scenes, you can let things unfurl, and movies just don't have much real estate to do that, especially with a show of this scale. all the ensemble characters which could be so fun from the show are mostly background setpieces. which is OK, it's just not as engrossing as TV.
also for some reason I thought the movie felt a little more PG. the town is now one big family, and there's some moments of sharp violence but nothing that stands out like Nigger General getting tarred or that fight between Dan and The Captain. except for that murderer playing w/Charlie's brains, that was pretty sick lol
don't give weebtrash any yous
>Still though, this doesn't feel like big numbers. Hearst coming out to offer Utter four thousand in cash makes no sense when you had Wolcott in season 2 buying up claims and even authorizing a purchase of 200,000 to that one fat miner.
Yeah. How the fuck was Hearst outbid? That was just another convenient win for the good guys like a lot of other things in the movie
holly shit how retarded can you be
>television is the superior medium now.
100% pleb opinion.
Agreed. And the profanity was really turned down. And Al is in love with Trixie now? They just abandoned the complex character and went for a love angle. There were a lot of fanservice which I don't mind, but they feel out of place like Seth beating the Hitman. It had already been established that Seth was level headed but this was added to be a callback to Alma's father's beatdown. Another one is Trixie for doing something so dumb and devastating as confronting. It still didn't bank on the TV seasons too much though and did some original stuff which were good. This needed more run-time

Did Givens become BFFs with Teddy Roosevelt?
Yeah Bullock was too calm throughout the whole thing. I guess family live eased him up a little bit but thinly veiled autistic rage was the best part about his character.
Anyone got a WebM of the town beating the shit out of Hearst and Bullock slowly stepping back to watch. As kino as it fucking gets.
The largest complaints of the show getting cancelled was not getting a resolution with Hearst and not seeing where the characters were going to go. It gave us a resolution with Hearst and showed us where the characters went. I'm not sure what else you think it would need to be "essential".
Hearst is a senator with larger interests than Deadwood, back in the show they were paying for gold which was worth a much higher investment, Utter's lot was just lumber and real estate. Hearst could have went higher but didn't want to, he only came back to swing his big senator dick around and get mad when it didn't go his way.
No amount of maturing into a level-headed individual is going to prevent Seth Bullock from beating the everloving shit out of a man who killed Charlie Utter.
i think you could not make the movie and the story is just as complete.
Hearst's story is actually less resolved now than it was in the show. now he's in jail for murder. he's a Senator in jail for murder. you could put on a whole season about the ramifications of that and the political and money machine that inevitably gets him out of trouble.
i didn't really need to see Trixie get married or Al die or anything else, I don't think the movie really showed anyone going anywhere at all. everyone ended up in the same spot with most of the same problems.
He didn't beat McCall, just wanted justice delivered
With how rich he is, the number was insignificant for his pride not to raise even if it's not worth it. And he made it seem to be essential for his telephone operation, clearly it had more value to him than it was worth.
His voice has changed. In the series it was coarse and rough like sand and in the movie his voice sounded just normal.
hearst could have had a lawyer or other agent do the bidding.
Again user, he came back to swing his big senator dick around. Even if he had gone higher and secured the lot it wouldn't matter, his pride was already wounded by all the big players in town coming out and unanimously telling him to get fucked.
What's the verdict on Luck? I know it was prematurely cancelled (because horses died wtf). Would I love it so much that I hate it that in ends like that?
It's not about Hearst's story, it's about Hearst's part in Deadwood's story. He's going to go on back to California and stay rich and continue being a scheming cocksucker, but Deadwood resisted and that's all that matters in context of the story being told.
More than that his pride was already wounded when he realized everyone played him for a fool by switching Trixie for a different whore.
I really enjoyed this, it has fantastic atmosphere and slow moving interesting plot. Acting is top notch. It's shame that it was cancelled.
So he let's them win and hurts his pride even more? First rate thinking
Bullock said he would have killed Mccall if it werent for his fight with the Indian

That was a satisfying redemption for a character who spent the entire original series being a drunken fuckup who choked at every moment of crisis.

b-but she was Gay!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was a good ending. Should've had more seasons.
i liked that the new girl didn't go all obvious avenging angel and you're kind of left wondering about her.
He's probably 20-30 times richer than Alma, who now essentially represents the combined worth of the town that isn't Heart as the local bank. But there's more going on than just the bidding. Note how Al makes a comment about Hearst's troubles the night before. The bidding represented the town telling Hearst that they wouldn't let him have his way - even if he had won, his telephone poles would have been burned every night. This was the town coming together to say fuck you to Hearst's latest plan.
Which was something beautiful if you watch the arc of the series as a whole, which started off as entirely dominated by individual interests (Al, Seth, Cy, Wild Bill, etc) placing themselves above the interests of the community as a whole, and then Reverend Smith and his memory leading to the gradual coalescing of those individuals into a single organism of community. By the third season, the town was roughly as strong, but certainly not stronger - than Hearst who represented the ur-individual: a single entity with individual whims who could do as he wanted and bend people and nature to his desires. Ultimately the town came together to 'stop' him and protect itself in the third season, but it's debatable how much the town survived because Hearst allowed it to after being somewhat placated with Jen's death.
Ten years later, with the movie, and the town is more powerful than Hearst. Sure, Hearst will get away with the murder of Charlie Utter. But the town of Deadwood is no longer subject to the whims of an individual titan - collectively the town has become an entity more powerful than even a Senator from California - hence him being outbid, being arrested, and being beaten by the entire town and jailed at the end. The era in which the individual was more powerful than the rest of society in Deadwood is over at the conclusion of the movie. It's the direction the town was moving in throughout the series. The movie was a fitting end.
based actually non-retard posted who can watch and see
He got to do some auctioneering and also asked Hearst to smile when he was being arrested.
Not bad for a nonce I expected to have about as much chance returning as Powers Boothe.
See user there were these things called beards. Gay people use to have them in the olden days because being gay meant having your ass beat on the reg. Gay people would regular marry straight people even have kids with them to keep their secret safe while engaging in homosexual behavior.
>thinking that is straight
user, I...
Do I need to re-watch all the previous seasons to know what's going on in the movie? It's been years since I watched Deadwood and I barely remember anything.
If you've seen them before, you're probably OK even if you only halfway remember them. But they are so good, why wouldn't you want to watch them again?
They add a lot of flashbacks in it so no
