Are there any other shows where a charcter appears for only one episode but instantly becames the most loved character...
Neon Genesis Evangelion
...
Why do all faggots like Kaworu so much!? Sure, it was an intelligent move to make the Final Angel human like, but still he was hardly the best character
I understood the ending, but never got what was this guy all about
>Sex appeal
>Godlike powers
>Is part of the show's "villain" faction
>Is an actual friendly and helpful person in a show full of utter assholes
hes the only one to show shinji any form of genuine affection in a show where pretty much everyone shat on him
Twink Jesus
Kaworu is best husbando.
This
Not really one episode, but you get the idea
Eva is completely bereft of good, decent people who care about other people, but all that was lacking sort of poured down onto his character. It's like Anno made him to balance out all the other character's emotional stunting, selfishness and issues.
Also I'm hoping for the rewind theory is revealed to be canon in 4.0 because everyone's heads will explode.
He's Adam, the progenitor of the Angels and archenemy of mankind. But instead of killing everyone he sort of falls for Shinji, becomes close platonic friends and let's himself get killed because his continued existence is anathema to humans.
fujos
One and the same.
rewind theory?
quick rundown plz, last i heard we were getting plenty of hints that this is a post-end of evangelion world
>Eva and simpsons take place in the same universe
>Karl spent the first 14 years before Eva as a corporate dude and sacrifices himself for Homer before returning to Japan
That's not Asuka. Everyone loves Asuka.
Asuka doesn't
>Everyone loves Asuka
Its officially called the Continuation theory. It's the theory that the Rebuilds will be revealed to be a continuation of the original. Somehow, at the end of EoE used Third Impact "rewound" much of the Earth to its state in episode 1, and the first scene of Rebuild 1.0, blood red waves lapping against a coast, continues from there. There's speculation the red water is actually the tang ocean from Third Impact because in the original, the water around Tokyo-3 isn't red.
There are variations of exactly what happened and how it happened, but the most popular is that Kaworu did it because he's the only one who seems to remember (he says "I'll make you (Shinji) happy this time" at the end of 2.0 and mentions "the Third again, huh? You never change" in 1.0"). There are also more far out theories like Angelic Days is also part of the Continuation and all the media is one never ending cycle ending slighty differently each time. But most of the evidence comes from the Rebuilds, based on what Kaworu says and certain background images that seemingly connect to the original.
Kaworu is the only character who cares about others and is generally flawless. The fact that Kaworu is revealed to be an angel in the end shows that humans are inherently flawed, and there will always be something "broken" about them.

A challenger appears.
Oh that was helpful. I just finished watching the rebuilds for the first time last night. This seems to make some sense.
Can't wait for the final installment. After shin gojira Anno is now a real director. I bet it'll be good.
There's a very good chance Anno is just fucking with us. I mean, I don't think even the master is insane enough to reveal everything is a time loop after 20 fucking years.
Twin Peaks did it
Wrong character, faggot
I think Sneed fits the bill better.
Also, if it only affected earth, wouldn't there be no more angels?
Somehow it never occured to me that Kaworu was a Angel.
I knew he wasn't human but not that he was one of the numbered Angels.
But, Kaworu seems to know Rei, does that mean Rei is an Angel?
The Angels are on Earth. They were born on Earth but went into hibernation when Adam was sealed by the Spear.
dont lie user. no one understands the ending.
Rei has Lilith's soul inside her, so she's kind of an angel.
>it's an angel!
>an angel detected within SEELE
>No, it can't be! Kaworu can't be an angel!
>An AT field, you really are an angel!
Nigger how did you miss all that?
Nah, Rei is Lilith. She's the progenitor to all humans. Not human but not an angel.
Sure I do. It's just be yourself.
I personally like his manga version a lot more, just because he has an actual ark.
But the point made is true, so the manga actually kinda misses the point.
The version in 3.0 is pretty good too, a mixture of both.
>there are actually people who don't get the ending
Bro I got this when I was 13. It's not complicated.
PONCE!
The Fly
Guess I fell into the pattern. Angels usually came on a 'pattern', on cue sort of. Kaworu kinda just happens.
I knew he was on the Angel's side, just not that he was a 'numbered' Angel himself. I just assumed whatever leads the Angels gave him some power.
>Angelic Days Kaworu
Doesn't he go on some weird tirade about how Shinji doesn't consider his feelings as he's being squeezed to death
Everything was a time-loop until Eva 2.22, specifically when Mari arrives on parachute.
Shinji's cassette player malfunctions afterwards, the time-line 'broke' then.
I think you are talking about one of the dumb spinoffs, but I'm referring to the main manga which retells the og story.
It's not hard to get user, there was an off screen time jump after the last angels were beaten and the human instrumentality project was completed.
>Kaworu is the only character who cares about others
Blatantly untrue.
>and is generally flawless
This isn't a good thing. He has no character beyond "Pretty boy who loves Shinji." No backstory, no development. He's an insanely shallow plot device who's only popular because he appeals to shippers.
*ahem*
>Its officially called the Continuation theory.
>fan theory
>officially called
lolwat
tfw she has an average one
>blatantly untrue
Not him, but Kaworu is the only person to really understand Shinji and care for him. The rest, Misato, his classmates et cetera have an ulterior motive or have just shallow concern for him.
>no character, no backstory
He does have a backstory. You need to pay a lot of attention because of his short air time but he does have development. He's been raised his whole life by SEELE, tricked into thinking he's their messiah and they want him to reclaim the Earth for the rightful owners (Adam derived life). But he doesn't entirely believe this and he knows this will wipe out all Lilim based life. So for the short period he was allowed to meet other people he went to find Shinji out of curiosity of Lilim and because Shinji, like him, has been raised his whole life as part of SEELE's plans. Through his interactions with Shinji, he develops understanding for his loneliness and arguably even love for him and to some extent Lilim. In his final descent, he realizes SEELE was lying to him when he sees Adam's body wasn't really where they said it was. He decides to let Shinji kill him, choosing him over what was up till then his life's purpose (reuniting with his body and making Adam life dominant) as the father of the Angels and as SEELE raised him to do because that would kill Shinji. In his final moments he reflects on how his brief life (brief relative to his immortal lifespan) was mostly a lie, and how he was glad that he met Shinji and developed their relationship, whatever you would call it, which gave him something other than his intrinsic purpose. He exercises his truest freedom of deciding to live or die by choosing to die for Shinji's sake, so he can live on and possibly find happiness and understanding.
You could say he has no character development because he didn't start out as an emotionally stunted, lonely person like everyone else, but he was intentionally written to be Shinji's ideal in tragic circumstances.
As in, it's the official name for the theory among Eva fans.
I hope it releases before he dies
I was just thinking how Carl and Kaworu are so fucking similar. Also:
SNEED
I completely agree with you.
