The underling problem in the banking system is, that it is on paper capitalistic but in reality closer to a socialist approach where the government owns the bank and not private owners. Since the bankruptcy of big banks would tear down huge parts of the economy it's cheaper to just cover their costs and bail them out. But now the banks don't handle private property anymore. On paper they should have a high risk of losing their capital and high reward if traded wisely - but since they are handling the governments money, they don't face any risks but get the same high reward. This is why they don't care to give out loans that bust, because the loss is paid by the government and the gain is pocketed by the private owners.

For example we didnt pick the major banks but did pick up Australians largest M&A and investment bank because of its diversified nature. Its a lot to go through because like any good investing you have to sit back and really look at a company to figure out if this organization is going to be generating above index returns over the next 10+ years. If you're in the top income bracket you dont want to have to move money ever, because each time you do you get hit by either income tax or capital gains tax. So doing less is achieving more, but you need to be certain the companies you pick have a 'moat' that protects them from competition and is long term financially sound.

It was a 20% yield so far but I cant remember the exact amount, would have been around 2M over time.

Also indexing isn't just good for most people, its good for all people, regardless of you being rich or not.
