I should have said becoming an astronaut is difficult rather than being an astronaut is difficult. Both are true but the point is that everyone thinks BEING an astronaut is the most difficult thing on the planet because not many people get to do it. The reason for that is because space programs only want to invest in the most highly qualified, decorated individuals. The most highly qualified and decorated individuals for the task in Armageddon are not existing astronauts who are versed in astrophysics or chemistry or biology. They need to train new ones.
