I hate that mainfaggot actor who's Brit but looks like a Paki, will I enjoy Deadwood?

First for Utter. Pay your respects.

I like Trixie's hair

You shut your polluted fucking cum trap, cocksucker.

reddit show. not even listed on hbo go lmao

The fuck is this jew bullshit

Mazel tov!

wouldn't that make it a non-reddit show?

Al giving Trixie away was adorable in the context of the show. 13 minutes to not shit the bed, and this will go down as the only perfect series finale in HBO history.

Shh, just let them identify themselves.

REDDITCEPTION

(THIS JOKE IS REDDIT BTW)

I'm literally watching it on HBOGo right now you tard

has it been two fucking hours?

It's working as a continuation of the show, but they have two hours, not ten episodes. Things are moving damn slow. WE spent way too long on the funeral, and now the dancing.

it's literally the first thing up when I opened the app

Don't mind him, he's just a retarded Canadian.

Or a horse!

did i see garret dillahunt

I was waiting for the ear grab

Ok, if Hearst is killed literally by the town of Deadwood, that would be an excellent subversion of expectation.

i believe so

i'm angry i didn't pay closer attention and screenshot it. i really hope so.

No, HBO is anti-reddit. Not being on HBO makes it Reddit.

how long before I can torrent this

>that fucking theme
western kino is back

Dan aged pretty gracefully.

If your torrent site is decent, within ten minutes of it being done.

Bravo.

>literally a feel good ending
Fuck it. I don't care, after all the shit we got in the least few years, I'll fucking take it.

Didn't really build to anything or climax, but such is life I guess? Was good, but not sure it had much point or substance in the way of closure.

did he died?

>bullock cries for nigger general but not charlie utter

That felt like an hour.

Not half bad considering the time frame. At least the show got a god damn ending after all this time.

PLAINVIEW/SWEDGIN MASHUP WHEN

I'm glad Jeffery Jones is getting work again.

There's really nothing more to say, desu. Bullock seems to live happily ever after, Al gives Trixie away at her wedding and subsequently dies peacefully, and Hearst's ending didn't go full reddit with him getting shot 20 times before being blown up by a strong female character. I really liked it.

It was a finale for those who wanted closure and didn't like the downer ending of season 3.

Basically they consented to murdering an innocent woman at the end of season three and spent the entire season trying to make it right and avenge what was done to them by Hearst, who drove them to such horrors in the first place.

Everyone got their happy ending, Alma is back in town after being run out by Hearst, and Hearst got his comeuppance even with the fact that everyone knows he'll not see any real prison time.

Looking at his wiki page, it's a fucking wasteland.
>he voices the President in Fallout 2
Pleasant surprise though.

Well fucking done. Fuck all your shit, most of you probably weren't waiting over a decade for closure. It was a sweet honest ending akin to the ends of the previous seasons. Closure at last without any edgy too cool bullshit you little cunts think makes something art. If you weren't cheering when Hearst got the shit kicked out of him in the fucking street you suck cock by choice. Nothing but love for this.

Okay, now continue talking about this being some warped political statement, you fucking souless joykillers.

Nigger, read the thread. The reaction here as been somewhat positive so far.

The theme is Deadwood is a family. And even a Senator cunt in George Hearst couldn’t harm the resolve of the town. It was perfect.

he was crying because of the story nigger general was telling ABOUT UTTER

Well done reading before posting, dipshit.

>tfw the very second you saw nigger general fishing creekside you remembered it was the current year and that he would go down by the hands of the evil white man
It's impossible for them to portray blacks as anything but victims.

Attached: wu.gif (250x255, 471K)

The reactions are overwhelmingly positive, you autist.

Can't a white man catch a break in this day and age?

you tard, its existence WAS the climax.

>If you weren't cheering when Hearst got the shit kicked out of him in the fucking street you suck cock by choice
I was too caught up being concerned with the consequences. In the show, they never pulled one over on Hearst like that without the Pinkerton's descending on the settlement like the horsemen of the apocalypse. I was so engrossed that I failed to realize there were but a few minutes left and that Hearst's inevitable retribution was ultimately irrelevant.

I actually liked the episode as a whole, some things are just annoyingly predictable.

A nice sendoff, well deserved too.

They pull this same stunt every time.

>successful 1st season
>got 'em
>put token nigger in 2nd season

I love the show to death, but Jane drinking with Nigger General will never not seem forced to me. They've literally been doing this shit EVERY TIME since the 90s.

That final scene

;_;

Oh yeah? Listen to some of these idiots spouting off about shit now.

Once a cut without the flashbacks for the hoopleheads is made it will be a masterpiece

Attached: 1549564717466.jpg (900x1357, 118K)

I'm amazed i'm feeling as content as i am after that.
Met expectations and feels like exactly all i needed.

Pleasantly surprised.

Anyone got a link to a torrent?

Any chance this thing is a smash hit and we get 3-5 more seasons?

Attached: 1559320254909.jpg (966x1559, 432K)

Why the fuck is it so kino?

How did they fucking pull it off?

BIG SHOT WU HAS HIS OWN TRANSLATOR

Dude, it's over. It was supposed to be a send off. We got our closure. Let it go.

>tfw no 8 episode slice of life Deadwood miniseries

yeah it kinda went fast because it all felt familiar and good, then it ends and you think about all the characters and all of them have some sort of closure. The only thing I'm kinda pissed off is that Al didn't leave the saloon to Dan, but I guess Trixie was always his favorite child.

The only remotely negative comments were posted during the first 30 or so minutes due to disappointment fatigue, and when Charlie Utter died. This was a well liked finale. You're not special or smart.

Johnny was more verbose and flowery than fucking Farnum.

Call me a brainlet for saying this, since maybe I'm missing something, but what's to stop Hearst from having his Pinkerton buddies ride into town the next day, and dealing with everyone that wronged him? We know he wont see any prison time, we know that he has friends in high places that could probably get Bullock removed from office, he could have Trixie and Alma killed at any time. I'm glad that they didn't kill him off in typical Hollywood fashion, but at the same time, it feels like it's only a temporary happy ending. I mean as soon as the sun comes up, it almost seems like Deadwood's problems are going to get a lot worse. Overall, I'm glad that we got closure, but I don't feel they had enough time to properly handle the Hearst situation.

post endings pls

>to Sol: my advice is your wedding gift
>to Trixie: my establishment is your wedding gift

You know there are feminists on twitter actually throwing their negativity onto this?

How much power does a marshal have over a regular cop?

Im happy we got as much, truly

I think we can all assume they're well and properlu fucked in the long run but at least they got some semblance of vengeance on him

SAN FRANCISCO COCKSUCKAH!
SWEY-GIN!

Ironically, that article is pretty positive, considering it's written by a woke cat mom with a quickly barrening womb.

marshalls can go over state lines and into other counties

regular sheriffs/deputies are restricted to one county

The settlement was in the throes of the US government annexing the Dakotas. It culminated in Deadwood's final "fuck you" to people like Hearst. If the cameras continued rolling, it's not a happy ending. As a show focusing on Deadwood as its own bubble (as it was), this ending was pretty much perfect.

Were... They right, for once?

Attached: 1559340365071.jpg (940x390, 98K)

It was objectively the best thing we could have hoped for. I'm stunned they didn't manage to fuck it up.

Like the previous user said Deadwood is kinda official shit now, Hearst wouldnt be able to do something like that without going down in the official hist books. Also Bullock was a U.S Marshal and had a good connection of friends too. Movie took place in 1889 so he was already very close friends with Teddy Roosevelt.

Broken clock right twice a day.
Or the only people who cared to review the movie were fans of the show.

I love how this thread was created an hour ago and we're only up to 87 posts. Yea Forums is officially kill.

Why didnt bullock let the mob kill him
Thats what raylan givens would do

Can someone tell me why RT is hated here? I mean sure paid reviews is an all possibility and shit but havn't they shat on most big budget capeshit/disney movies? I can name a hell of a lot more movies shit on than praised.

Damn Sophia was hot. Was that the same actress? I can't imagine a child actor aging well and coming back.

Sneed much?

Alright, I think that's fair. Maybe I'm just sad knowing that we won't get to see what happens in the coming weeks and that there won't be any more movies. Oh well, it was still a good send off overall.

The Last Jedi currently sits at 91% critical approval. That's outrageous. By most objective standards, it's a terrible movie.

Yea Forums has always had shit taste.

Yea Forums is a pretty slow board, despite the amount of posts it gets, and threads tend to die abruptly.

fucking Wu

Like 90% of this board were probably infants when this show first premiered. Yea Forums these days is only for shitposting about politics and capeshit.

2 hour Justified movie next week!

Who was missing that is both alive in show and in real life?

Adams
Andy
Mose?

>not a single mention of the theatre troupe
God, that subplot went absolutely nowhere. As much as I love this series, rewatching season 3 is always hard because of their scenes.

soap with a prize inside guy

I loved the theatre troupe

What did Wu give Al?

The kraut who worked with merrick with the cheyenne telegraph wasn't here was he?

...

I don't have any complaints, I'm just happy that we actually got this instead of nothing at all. If you asked me 5 years ago if I ever thought there would be a Deadwood movie I would call you insane, it was long forgotten.

Now, if only we could get a Rome movie / reboot...

probably something the braindead chinese think it a magic cure-all like lizard tongue marinated in turmeric and ginger and goat testicles with 5 spice

Tea for chinese traditional medicine purpose.

Same here. Although I pine for a Carnivale movie instead.

The only hard part of watching this was realizing how old I have become and how alcoholism is ravaging me. But full marks, top shelf, well played.

They have to do something to pick up ratings since 90% of their programming is woke garbage now

Al dies in Chicago in the early 20th century, after being stabbed and robbed (his twin brother was stabbed previously, probably by an assailant thinking he was Al), but I'm not sure the ending was meant to signify Al's death.

A decent sendoff. Better than fucking GoT, at least.

>game of thrones ends
>Yea Forums gets flooded with posts to the point where it's almost impossible to have any other kind of thread
>one of the greatest tv shows of all time ends
>37 posters in one fairly slow moving thread
I mean I shouldn't be too surprised at this point based on the current state of this board, but goddamn, it still stings a little.

The theater troupe rounded out Al and his beginnings. It was clear from the amateur night episode that Al had gotten involved with them in a capacity that was unbecoming to his position of authority and thus had to cut ties. I thought they were great, and a theater settling in town means art, and art is the final bit of civilization, which solidified Deadwood as a 'permanent' town.

Fuckin' capital F. You were too good for this world, Charlie Utter. I'm sad they didn't lay you to rest next to Bill.

I wanted to know what happened to Steve.

Fuckin' this. I straight up ugly cried in front of my girlfriend.

Are you talking about Swearengen? He carries the show. If you're that butthurt about him for some reason then I guess not.

everyone here just spams Yea Forums and /pol/ shit now

>Al dies in Chicago in the early 20th century, after being stabbed and robbed
He wasn't from England either.
Cy Tolliver never existed.
Charlie Utter wasn't murdered in Deadwood.
The writers don't give a fuck about history.

Do you really want dumb and dumber tarnishing the glory of rome? Those would be hbo's go to writers for it.

Which Al quickly discarded as hokum bullshit. Much as his last words spoke echoed the same sentiment.

>Our lord in heaven
Let him stay there.

Not too obnoxious, but righteous all the same,

>but looks like a Paki
I have no clue who that deranged cocksucker could be referring to

What was the point of the new whore character? She's cute, even if she has a bit of a goblina face, but she didn't do anything that an extra from the TV series coudln't do.

do people being bummed over this want a thread with 200 ips memeing on each other for more (you)s, anyway?
this and the thread we had before have been nice for the most part, i'm fine. it fits with the movie giving a pretty somber but satisfied feeling. i'd rather that then chaotic even if it means almost no one on Yea Forums cared.

they're going to be too busy ruining star wars even more than it's already been ruined.

New Trixie. Caravan moves on.

Where was Hearts men to help him when the mob was kickin' him?

I feel he should've died right then, kinda felt it would have been justified or poetic?

I thought she was meant to be a contrast to the new technology coming to Deadwood while she comes to camp to whore, the oldest profession there is.

I really hoped she was a spy for Hearst who'd try to get close and kill Al.

That would have bent history to the point of farce. Are you not familiar with the name Hearst outside of this? There is a reason the name doesn't have squiggly red lines under it when you type it, bro. His obsession with the future and communication are big clues.

You should probably wiki a few things now.

Fuck Harry Manning

he was never the same after that cinnamon overdose

Aah, yeah. I totally forgot he was a historical character.

Sorry.

I'm not liking them inter-cutting old scenes to remind the audience the relationships between characters, but I understand why they did it. Show is old as fuck and most people never re-watched the episodes.

Hearst promised him a new fire wagon.

That’s my only quibble with it, the flashbacks break the flow. It’s perfect otherwise.

I thought at first she was somehow related to the where they killed to save Trixie (or that is what they wanted us to think)

*Whore

The real Bullock was friends with Teddy Roosevelt.
>hearst ain't shit

Oh shit, HE was the turn-coat? Oh man, how shitty. You traitorous dog dick sucking motherfucker. I couldn't place him. Fuck. No.
Damn.

Been a while since I've seen the show, but was this the first time Jane killed someone onscreen?

I kept expecting her to turn out to be the daughter of the whore that was murdered in Trixie's place. Out for revenge and that she would kill Trixie's baby or Al or both. Just to hammer home the notion that there is no such thing as a happy ending and killing the woman and passing her off as Trixie, would have consequences that would destroy Trixie and Al

Hearst probably bought Harry off after the elections in S3.

Lol, I kept thinking this too. I thought for sure she would be the one to finish off Al during his moment of weakness. I was kind of relieved that it didn't happen, even if it would have felt appropriate.

I think a better ending would have been this. Hearst excepts Trixie's apology and announces he's going to leave and requests Bullock come with him (making subtle hints of murdering his kids if he doesn't).

Bullock escorts Hearst out of town and Hearts basically gives a "reason you suck" speech. Explains that he can massacre the entire town any time he wants to and that the only reason he won't do it, is that it's just fucking beneath him to waste his time on people who are pissants.

A small backwater town might think they can fuck with Hearst like that, but at the end of the day, it's a small backwater town off the in the middle of nowhere and no one will never hear of their story. What they did won't reach outside the town's limits and won't inspire others to stand up to Hearst.

And at the end of the day, Hearst is still super rich and super powerful and unstoppable and has far more important things to do with his time. And that, if the mental wound of his humiliation ever festers and needs to be scratched, he will simply have one or more of the people who defeated him from the town murdered at his leisure. And the fact that the people who stood up to him, the townspeople, will never know if or when Hearst decides to have them killed.

Hearst leaves, with Seth shocked and horrified and yet at the same time, relieved that in the end, Hearst's elitism saved the town. They were THAT insignificant in his eyes and will survive their dance with the dragon.

>t. Pinkerton

Bet the guy wrote this would suck Hearst’s cock by choice

Jane was always a cute and you bandwagoning sons of whores can go fuck yourselves.

Now that it's finally finished, how would you rank Deadwood compared to other HBO series? Based on the ones I've seen.
Deadwood>The Sopranos>The Wire>Rome>Boardwalk Empire>dog shit>Game of Thrones

At which time a bugle calls, and TR's Rough Riders begin their assault.

I enjoyed it. It was a (surprisingly?) sweet coda to the show itself. Held back a few tears, due to life circumstances.

The movie brought be back to when I first watched Deadwood, on low-quality pirated xvid avi files when I was in my early 20s, with my first real job, living on my own for the first time in a shitty apartment in Los Angeles, and walking to work ~3 miles between the two in summer heat. My treat to myself on coming home after a rough day at work was to play an episode of Deadwood on my computer while lying on my bed in the one room of my apartment where I had a/c (a wall unit in the bedroom) while drinking sickly sweet instant lipton iced tea that I kept in the freezer while I was at work. I would come home, watch Deadwood, and just be amazed at the language and plotting and acting and writing.

I'm far from there now (13 years later, with a wife, dog, house, central a/c, etc), but did have a rough day at work (two of my best employees left today for retirement, and they will be massively missed going forward). Watching the movie was something close to a balm that took me back to those early years of my life.

Many thanks to David Milch for that (and for introducing me to Robert Penn Warren's poetry), and for all that he's done. Incredibly sad about his Alzheimer's, but he has more than earned his keep on this earth.

Bullock eventually becomes best pals with Teddy Roosevelt and helps him form his Rough Riders and his inaugural parade. Teddy invites him to visit the White House any time, and says to just shoot out a window and come through if the doormen don't let him in.

American history of 100+ years ago was better anons.

1. Wire
2. Rome
2. Deadwood
3. Dog shit
4. Sopranos
5. Game of Thrones
7. Boardwalk

Six Feet Under still holds that title.

Milch has Alzheimer's. Without Milch, there's no Deadwood. F.

Damn shame they never brought Blazanov back tho

Attached: Untitled.png (1358x681, 1.38M)

Well it was an Irishman trying to kill him so technically nigger-on-nigger.

1. The Sopranos
2. Deadwood
3. The Wire
4. Rome
5. Tales From The Crypt

everything else

I'll never forget getting home from summer vacation a few years ago, having some hours to kill, starting Oz, and being so fucking disappointed. Digital camera tier show.

Honestly, she's a callback to early Trixie (trying to sleep with Al to be top whore) and to Kristen Bell's Flora in the first season. Similar starting places for each character, massively different ending places. I can see an argument being made for her as an example of how the town has evolved to protect its people from being subject entirely to the whims of individual power (Trixie with Al, Flora with Cy) and instead have others look out for her well being even though she wasn't known to anyone.

jesus christ American History is so fucking good. I think this country, aesthetically, actually went to shit post 50s. Were the WASP's protecting us bros?

I feel you man. I was in my buddy's basement catching episodes of it off split coax back then because we were sick of looking at each other. Lived there only a while, and it's been another 10 years or so but we still keep in touch to this day. We got families now and real jobs. Nice to see an end to it in such a satisfying way. I'm sure we'll talk about this the same way we used to about the latest episode of the simpsons back in grade school.

Ahh, getting old.

Makes me so sad that Milch has Alzheimer's. Fucking HBO cocksuckers had him on contract for a decade, with half a dozen pilot scripts in their drawers, and they never did anything with them except two canceled shows. I know he's hard to work with but it's a tragedy they didn't exploit his talent while now focused on churning out pleb bait low brow genre shit.

I was wondering if they'd work in a Roosevelt reference, until I realized it was gonna be based in 1889. Still, a decent film.

Chris Albrecht may have been shitty to his girlfriends, but he was also a visionary for seeing how HBO could become the force that it did by focusing on middle-to-upper brow original series with good production and writing, as opposed to just 'taxicab confessions' repeats.

I would put The Americans a little higher, but the fact that you even referenced Rectify tells me that you are a patrician. Well done, sir.

Deadwood is officially part of the US now, and the town is entirely against him (unlike before where he had lackeys and spies, his last died with Harry and even EB has enough spine to go behind his back). If he wants to take on anyone in the town he'd have to take on the entire town with them, and that would be taking on the US itself. Sure he could have people assassinated but it wouldn't serve him any purpose. He'll beat the charges, but his only real recourse is to move on with his tail between his legs. The unfuckable man finally got fucked.

His run was legendary. The unsung hero of TV kino. I guess whoever's in charge now is only trying to compete with shitflix and getting shekels. Did he do anything worthwhile when he was at Starz? Was Spartacus under his reign?

Shit, I forgot The Wire. Slide it in below Sopranos and just above Rome et al.

Chris has been at Starz since 2010. He's had a mixed run. Pillars of the Earth and Boss and Spartacus were decent, but in production before he came on board I believe. Camelot was meh. Black Sails is meh. Outlander and Ash vs Evil Dead are probably the biggest successes since he joined.

It released late night on a Friday, it'll pick up as the weekend goes on. Won't reach GoT levels but GoT was mostly tourists anyway, smaller threads with actual discussion is always better.

It’s a Zoomers world. We’re all just living in it.

it sucked

Never saw a single minute of this show, is it worth the $45 to go see movie in LDX?

Really good. Put a smile on my face

If you don't watch the show first, most of the movie will be lost on you.

Watch the series. It is the best thing to have been made for the medium/grenre of TV drama.

they shouldn't have recast her

No. It would be like watching the series finale of a show without seeing a single episode before it.

NOW, ABOUT THAT NEW SPIDERMAN MOVIE...

Attached: hipster_scarf_calm_down.jpg (300x300, 16K)

He was Scotish, actually.

Westerns aren't as popular as tits and dragons. That being said, this movie was kino. It was a perfect goodbye that didn't feel forced. The ONLY thing I complained about was Harry Manning's betrayal. It felt contrived and out of character.

Attached: Picard_und_Earl_Grey.jpg (1435x1079, 266K)

>Al gives Trixie away at her wedding and subsequently dies peacefully

Ummm WTF?! He died???

It was good, a nice tidy ending. Milch concluded a series that ended ten years ago with a two hour feature film that didn't bastardize previous character development. Those faggot GOT cocksuckers couldn't even come close to that with an entire final season. God speed Milch.

Attached: swearengen.jpg (1281x720, 632K)

>Ummm WTF?! He died???

It was pretty obvious, brainlet.

Yeah, it's one of those things if they had a 3.5 hour movie or it was a new season or whatever they maybe could have given his betrayal backstory. Maybe he was in severe debt or Hearst was blackmailing him with something else, who knows. I don't know, for me it's a 4 or 4.5/5. I felt the flashbacks were unnecessary and cheesy, and there were a few off notes and fan servicey moments that just lose it that perfect score that the show always got from me.

Maybe I just wanted more, but Deadwood doesn't really need more, just a timeless classic, and this movie was everything it needed to be I guess, just a love letter to probably the greatest show of all time and a farewell to the genius that is David Milch.

How was it obvious? I thought he just had liver problems, but his death could still be some way away, no?

Yeah. It's really too bad that GOT couldn't come out after this... to show them how to give your characters a proper sendoff. I hope someone does another good HBO western series some day.

anyone who uses the phrase "that being said" should kill themselves.
KILL YOURSELF. this isn't a book report motherfucker.

You'd understand if you spent at least 10 years of your life being a consistent alcoholic. Your liver huts like hell after a while. You can't twist your torso or even have sex the right way without it hurting. If he didn't die that night, that's how he was going to die.

Im actually surprised how good it was and didn’t have such a rough transition into present day.

But what about the magic Chinese medicine Wu gave him?

>anyone who uses the phrase "that being said" should kill themselves.
>KILL YOURSELF. this isn't a book report motherfucker.

No. Stay mad illiterate cunt.

Those five round bricks? I don't know what they were supposed to be.

they were vials. I am assuming they were opium.

Well they kept saying it was tea, apparently. But yeah I guess it was just laced with opium to dull the pain.

What an odd fucking thing to get so upset about.

I like how they kept Sam Fields away from most of the cast so they would only have to say Nigger General once.

Oh look, a 4 hour Deadwood thread relating to an actual episode with almost no meme reddit cocksucker posts. It's almost as if the show was actually good.

Al freed the whores. Trixie told her she doesn't have to be a whore. She owns the Gem now.

>dog near her during a "sexy" pic

yeah, she's taken a knot

Why do you think he was always almost shitting himself? Why he was running for sheriff and making that lame excuse of fire marshal visibility? Now he got all fat from 10 years of guilt. He was always a shit, trying to take down Bullock as sheriff as his first work for Hearst.

She didn't have shit for family other than a sister who whored in Gunderson, at the Yellow Bird.

wow that was really bad.

they showed 30 minutes of the season 3 finale in flashbacks

Fuck yourself, with a fist punch up your ass today at the present moment.

It was only a minute or two total if you add up all the clips but yeah they were kind of stupid and pointless, there for the dumbass normies I guess?

Wasnt Harry a good guy in the show or am i misremembering?

This is correct behavior. Looking forward to fat MEGA links to massive 1080p AMZN WEB-DL shits with fat audio in later discussion threads.

Yeah like I said earlier, flashbacks totally unnecessary and cheesy. They actually showed the exact same scene of the whore in the coffin being presented to Hearst like 3 separate times or something. Dialog was pretty light in the second half too, first half was kino as fuck, took a bit of a downward turn after Utter's death, not sure the reasoning for the change of tone, perhaps intentional to reflect upon Utter's death and the impact on the inhabitants and town.

Seems like they truly needed longer but just didn't have the will or resources or whatever to commit to a 3.5 hour movie or even a miniseries. Maybe Milch's Alzheimer's got worse or something and it impeded the second half, not sure. Movie was still a masterpiece when taken as a whole part though.

I guarantee you the movie is one of those things that will age finely. Like the longer amount of time passes since watching it the better it seems to me.

Dumbass normies don't watch Deadwood and never have, they literally could not sit through 5 minutes of an episode. Think it was just for nostalgiafags or whatever, not sure, just a bad artistic choice but not enough to massively detract from the experience.

Hearst's performance was fucking incredible. I swear his dialog was fucking top tier.

Watching it now. Jesus, the dude who plays Hearst looks younger now than what he did 10 years ago. wtf!

God wants to keep Gerald McRaney on Earth as long as possible

I haven't seen the show in 3 years and I was high as fuck so it was nice to see a few of those, but I'll agree there were way to many like I get it you all slit that whores throat.

he lived for 15 more years.

I think the fall of Hearst was done perfectly. His conniving and murderous foul play, the foundation of bodies that helped prop him up was brought into light. All of Deadwood finally smelled his shit and was fed up with it. Cocksucker got what he rightly deserved.

Attached: 967ea234f51b0be66e92a38ecd2176f1.jpg (380x380, 25K)

He also fucking carried this movie. Seriously man his performance was standout here, how is this dude not in more.

The show doesn’t go into it but at this point in his political career Hearst was in a massive fight with Stanford to break up the power of the Central Pacific in California. He wouldn’t be spending his political capital on fighting a town of bumpkins in the Dakotas, especially since he had already sold a lot of his shares of the Homestead Mine and had re-invested it.

Anybody catch that Garret Dillahunt, the actor who played Jack McCall and Francis Wolcott cameo?

Yeah, lol. 3rd character he portrayed in the series. What did his character say though something like "you'll die like my daddy". Who was his daddy supposed to be, one of the previous characters he portrayed? And if so, which one?

>calling a anglo irish a paki.

Deadwood is unironically the only show I've seen in recent memory that's written female characters I actually liked a ton, because it actually kept them women.

kys insecure faggot

Irish basically are pakis, or gypsies at best, compared to actual whites.

Yeah. He was like that in season 3 too. Its such a weird character. I loved that his motivations were narrated by Al, who was just perplexed of how illogical and just "evil" he was.
He's played perfectly to that assesment too, like whenever he doesnt get his way in whatever way, no matter how minor he makes a face like he's ready to order exterminatus on Deadwood.. But he calms down and just murders 10 people instead. Like even Tolliver didnt compute how fucking murderous Hearst was.

>hearst gets dragged by the ear again
>garret dillahunt cameo
>timmy elephant can still do bullock's explosive anger
>town looked great
>tom nuttall hasn't aged a day
>doc and swear engine still have their banter
>johnny falls in love again
absolute kino

Yeah, he was a total psychopath in the clinical, pathological sense of the term. his misanthropic monologues in season 3 were some of the most kino moments of any TV show ever and I think most here would empathize a lot with his "I was not born to live among my own kind" spiel.

One of the best villains I've ever seen on TV. Just a really understated, bubbling evil/rage, perfectly captured and conveyed by McRaney. I agree he was like that in the show too but he stood out even more here, perhaps because the others got so little screen time/dialog just due to time constraints.

And yeah he literally fucking broke Tolliver, lol, one of the strongest characters on the show, mindraped him to the point of psychosis.

One thing I will say is what the fuck was the need for the CGI train? It looked terrible, as CGI pretty much always does, was jarring and was utterly unnecessary to the plot or overall theme of the movie.

I like to think of Hearst in the show as some hangover from the Medieval age or some shit. Like he is the genetic echo of what would have been a lord or general who would spend his entire life just autistically waging war, living for battle and chaos, being put in that position by the elite of the realm just to get him the fuck out of their hair and not cause absolute shitstorms in the kingdom with his antisocial psychopathy.

I can't believe they did it.
Deadwood is the greatest series ever made, pound for pound, and I'll rip the eyeballs out of anyone who says otherwise

Agreed. I am in awe.
What is the name of the song they played at the end?

Hog of the Forsaken - Michael Hurley

>t. Senator Hearst

Cheers

And this is how the golden age of television ends my friends. 1999-2019, From sopranos beginning to this last glorious houra, albeit buried on a friday night. Never again will kino exist. All tv will be netflix garbage and binge content. Time to die

Idk user but don't let anyone ever tell you there's no such thing as miracles

Shit taste user

where?

the dialog was just as good as when the show first ran, i'm glad they didn't water it down.

I'm pissed off there's a movie. Deadwood was great but who the fuck even wanted a movie? I wanted the show to continue and it didn't and now it's been so long and this shit is just unwanted.

I can't imagine feeling anything other than pity while watching it. It's just pathetic really. Move on.

What a weird top portion of your list. Otherwise agreed. However, I haven't seen all of those shows.

i forgot to add babar in there lol

the true hbo kino

Attached: babar.jpg (4572x5751, 2.16M)

yikes a roni.

most cringe ending sex in the city literally has a better ending

>how would you rank Deadwood compared to other HBO series?
my holy trinity: rome, carnivale and deadwood
excellent tier drama: luck, sopranos, treme, wire, six feet under, tales from the crypt, oz (even though it got retarded in the end)
excellent tier comedy: curb, arliss, larry sanders, mr show
excellent tier minis: chernobyl, john adams, elizabeth I, from the earth to the moon (why hbo doesn't run this again pisses me off so bad), the young pope
most of the rest of thier shows are okay, but those really stand out for me.

Not great, not bad, but it was nice to watch again, wish it were longer it just seemed rushed it could have been an hour longer and went into the motives a bit more but oh well, I enjoyed it. Suprised by the inclusion of Waltzing Matilda at the end, but he did mention he had been in Australia in the old series so i guess it somewhat makes sense.

This. Deadwood movie and Chernobyl is the death rattle of golden age HBO. After this, it's all over. No more gems among the shit.

>tfw hoping westworld was gonna be the return of good hbo
that what i get for being optimistic. im cancelling after chernobyl is over and might only re-up next year for catherine the great, the outsider, and new pope.

have you watched my brilliant friend?
that's the best current hbo show and it's getting another season

t. a shining example of pozzed nu-HBO watchers who eat up nu-HBO trash

i think their flagship shows westworld and the deuce are garbage
and i don't pay for it

have you formed your opinion by actually watching my brilliant friend, or just getting triggered over the tagline?

whatsmore dude, you do know this is HBO right?

there's a fucking gay adoption plotline in the wire and you remember Vito?
have you seen Six Feet Under?

It's absurd to cry about HBO being 'pozzed' now

i saw the first ep because some limp wristed fag and his chest tattoo polyamorous gf rec'd it. I should have went with my instinct instead of wasting an hour of my life.

is the deuce a flasgship show? hbo always treated david simon shows like shit, im surprised he actually got to make one more season if it.

The Wire and SFU were great and I don't give a shit about their lgbt sub-plots or characters. They didn't feel pozzed and they wouldn't feel pozzed if they came out now. They weren't annoying with it. Those shows were actually good and entertaining.

I just don't know why you'd play identity politics with HBO. Whether their shows are good or not has nothing to do with the creator's 'politics' or the 'politics' in the show.

Hell the Chernobyl guy said he wrote the show as a parable for Trump.

want to have a go at explaining why it's bad?

I can't really contest that since I never watched Sex and the City on account of being a straight male.

Kek

the finale gave me a case of the fantods

Also Al was in his early 30s in the show and his early 40s in the movie, while Ian McShane is now fucking 76 right now.

Do I need to watch the TV show before watching this?

Yes.

It was okay, felt good seeing Deadwood alive once more time. Story was weak tho, felt too simple, you'd think the senator would be marter, after past experiences, than sending a couple of killers

I can't even imagine watching the movie without having seen the series. There are several flashbacks but good luck knowing who's who or what their history is.

Up your pozzed ass you fucking numale faggot

They put in fucking lesbians in 19th century, stronk womyn saves the day in the end and there's some retard character. SJW movie, is the series like this also? Can't imagine what kind of soibois like this shit.

The series is even worse. There is a fucking tranny character in season two.

>lesbians didn't exist before 21st century

HENG DAI! KUNG PAO

prove me wrong, tranny

>reminder that when you cry about sjw stuff you come across like this guy

Have you seriously never heard of the Island of Lesbos

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_lesbianism

>tranny
You should go back.

It wasn't bad by any means, but it felt somewhat rushed. One of the few movies that could have benefited from an extra 30 minutes.

The most impressive thing by far is that the writing and atmosphere perfectly aligned with the show. It felt like another episode (in a good way).

No, I’m not a fucking faggot like you

>You should go back.
Yea Forums is ours you fucking discord tranny, go and dialte some more

he was kind of an idiot if i recall, now just an old corrupt one

dilate

Take a look at this absolute unit and tell me you honestly believe she wasn't a dyke.

Attached: Calamity-Jane-793x526[1].jpg (793x526, 70K)

New thread

You know she had kids, right? Fuck off with your fake shit, tranny

She may have been a dyke but that doesn't mean that it should be shown on fucking TV. This is the way sjws rot our collective brains, by portraying disgusting faggots it suddenly means that being a dyke is ok.

The Deuce is great, what are you smoking

Tom Cruise has kids, John Travolta has kids, doesn't change the fact they suck cock by choice.
Lesbians have always been okay so long as it's hot, equating that to real faggotry or trannyshit is just losing sight of things.

Attached: nice.jpg (550x336, 29K)

it is okay and you're mentally ill

I can't stand James Franco desu, he actually cannot act.
and an unerotic show about sex just kind of disgusts me
plus the period setting seems totally redundant when so many kinos actually made in that place in that era exist

I don't see the point in it at all

There are obviously some aspects which are quality but overall the show seems utterly pointless

also almost contradictingly i think david simons shows are obnoxiously preachy they're always about stuff there's always some point or message and it's entertainment second.

Treme was the same.

Waltzing Matilda is an Australasian folk song, how the fuck did it end up in Deadwood, complete bs, series ruined

It also wasnt written until 1895 either and not published until much later, Al mentions spending a wasted 4 years in Australia I assume during their gold rush though in the series
