It's really disspointing that Critics are being pure NPCs in their review of this movie. Legendary hit a grandslam in their recreation of what a Godzilla film has been. They left it open for SO many venues. The Seapeople and Megalon. Mecha Ghidorah, Biollante, even Bagan from the 1993 game. If they and Toho continue to do business im really excited for how they take this further

Ghidorah was actually quite frightening, and I rarely say that about anything CG. When the Argo flew into the storm leading Rodan and you see Ghidorah looming in front of them with the demonic faces it was honestly pretty scary, the way he even looked flying was creepy in a way.

I literally liked every human character (except Millie the goblin) when I didn't think I would, the jew from the Optimum commercials I thought was going to annoy the shit out of me but he was surprisingly reserved, even the bald nigress colonel didn't feel like the usual SJW tokenism. Dance seemed kind of goofy like he was just phoning it in but that's still serviceable.

Except that's wrong. He doesn't go out of his way to kill humans, even when we fucking nuked him. He WILL cause collateral damage if he's fighting another kaiju though. Hell, he even goes out of his way to SAVE humans in 2014. On the bridge scene, he accidentally causes some ships to sink when he gets out of the water, some dickbag starts shooting at him, causing everyone to shoot, and since the missiles had no fixed target, they almost killed everyone on the bridge. Godzilla stood up and took the missile blasts to save everyone, but since he was a visible target now the focused fire caused him to slip and crash through the bridge, thus killing everyone he tried to save.

He specifically comes to Monarch's base to alert them that Ghidorah was about to be freed. He was on the defensive because he KNEW monarch were the ones studying the titans, and thought they were the ones waking up Ghidorah when they started getting ready to shoot him. It's why he decides to lead them to Ghidorah once they stand down.

Ghidorah literally went out of his way to eat people. Rodan didn't go out of his way to eat them, but did go out of his way to kill the ones attacking him. Godzilla never did, even when provoked. He was ONLY going to attack humans intentionally when he thought they were the ones fucking waking up Ghidorah.

I liked that they showed that Godzilla wrecks if he fights monsters in the ocean. All the other main monsters were fliers, so this is his one true advantage location.

No idea about what the fuck happens on day four and when the Titan that’s responsible for animals stopping being endangered did it’s thing...

All of these weren't just "In two days" kind of a deal, these were news reports about what happened after Godzilla got everyone to submit, and iirc no specific timeframes were given on how long it took to restore ecosystems.

One of the papers even say that Godzilla patrolling the oceans caused new reef growth thanks to his radiation, so the coral reefs were booming, and sea life flourished even after the oxygen destoryer went off.

There were too many human scenes in this movie. Nowhere near as egregious as 2014 but it’s still pretty bad. The whole movie should have been monsters, they could cut it down to 1hr 30 minutes as a result. I don’t watch these movies for their plot or characters, I just wanna see monsters fighting, anyone who thinks it should be more than that has autism.

You do not cut what majority of your budget went into. What got shredded and left of the cutting floor was the human aspect. They left the bare minimum to keep a reasonable runtime.
The Sfx sequences were finalized early on, since that aspect is pretty much 1:1 with a cut from year ago.

Lol what yes they did. They all have their classic roars in there, just updated for the monsterverse. Mothra’s sounds the most like her original incarnation though. You can clearly hear Ghidorah’s creepy cackle in almost every sound it makes. Rodan & Godzilla don’t even need specific examples.

So do conventional weapons hurt the Kaiju or not? I mean, Godzilla seems to barely even notice whenever they hit him, but Rodan and Ghidora sort of recoil in pain and get pissed whenever missiles hit them. Could you kill a Kaiju if you had millions of regular missiles, or would it just be like flicking someone with a rubber band over and over?

They are forced to make an OC final boss now, Biollante's origin is too specific, and Destroyah doesn't have the proper build up, since OD was treated like a disposable plot device instead the horror it was.

The success of KOTM and GvK will probably determine whether Toho extends the licenses for Legendary to keep making movies. Toho is also considering rebooting the Godzilla series themselves.

Shin Godzilla was obviously intended to be a standalone experimental film.

I was expecting there to be 2 people in the seats to my left, cause it showed that it was reserved, but they were empty.
Had a nice asian couple to my right, just coughed from time to time like it was china don't think she covered her mouth, wasn't looking over.
My only gripe is that the movie had no IMAX sequences, so the whole screen never filled up. Think I'll watch it again but in dolby cinema this time or try digital IMAX.
