I'm not sure I'd go that far, but The Raid is peak action kino. The second one was fantastic as well, fuck the haters.

The Raid films are much better than John Wick films. Also Raid 2>Raid 1

>rookie MC is actually a badass martial artist able to take on 10 dudes at once and has a rough past
Shit trope

Tfw excited to see wick 3 cause raid guys are in it. Not nearly as gooas the raid movies

You dont watch movies like this for the fucking story, idiot

Well if it wasn't for The Raid's critical success I don't think (((Hollywood))) producers would've backed something like John Wick.
I'm just glad Stahleski finally paid homage by casting Yayan Ruhian in John Wick 3. Too bad Iko Uwais wasn't in it as well.

Too much martial arts in The Raid 2, I want to see people being shot

>2 over 1
A few years ago I would have vehemently disagreed, but I recently watched them back to back, and you're right. 1 is the like a band's first album - raw, stripped down, brutal basics, a great effort that gets you into the band. But the 2nd one expands on the action and characters, and even has a decently compelling crime plot to top it off.

I've seen The Raid 2 only once but I've seen The Raid at least 4 times. I remember being just as wowed by the sequel. The beginning was great with the prison fight scenes.

I admire the fact that Keanu and co put in the effort and elevated the franchise up to scratch.

I mean the first Wick wasnt that great but they kept training and ramping up the fights so 2 and 3 can stand proud as solid action kino.

Yeah, Iko definitely should've been in one of the Wick movies.
>see the cast for Triple Threat
>shit myself
>see the movie
>it's pretty forgettable
I was pretty damn miffed. Iko, Jaa, Adkins, Tiger Chen, Michael Jai White, and it all got bogged down with an unnecessarily convoluted plot.

Still a chance he could appear in John Wick 4. And technically Wick never killed the apprentice characters at the end of Chapter 3.

Its embarrassing watching white people try to make stylish action movies.

John Wick is pretty much a copywrite protection ducking version of Spike Spiegel where he settled down with Julia.

If you know, Keanu was gonna play spike in the Cowboy Bebop live action, but the script was so good, it was gonna cost half a billion dollars to make and this was in 2005 or some shit so it just wasn't going to happen.

And then look! they come out with JOHN WICK! a nice white washed version of Spike with none of the weird anime under/overtones to distract from that sweet sweet box office cash.

I've been trying to spread the word about this flick since it got released last week. Solid flick, not amazing but I was really entertained. Kinda reminds me of Snatch and Green Street Hooligans. It's probably Adkins best movie, kicks a preposterous amount of ass.

Could someone in special ops match John Wicks skills?

Based
Respectable, but I disagree. I think 2 is almost as good as one, better in some respects, but the raw, incessant brutality of the first makes it a better movie for me.

>gun fight are better than hand/knife fight
look at this dude

downloading it now thanks mate

>but the raw, incessant brutality of the first makes it a better movie for me.
That's totally fair and I think 1 nails that better but everything else with the film is kinda shitty where everything came together to make a real fine film in 2 imo. I could easily see how someone would enjoy 1 more though and I think 1 will probably be more rewatchable

That sounds about right, good comparison.

Thanks user, will check it out.

>this is the retarded shit weebs actually believe
Cowboy Bebop is run of the mill formulaic sci fi bounty hunter shit. Anything "deep" it tried to do had been done a hundred times before much better in the live action medium. John Wick is run of the mill thin-plotted gun-fu action shit. That's all there is to it

What about the sequence in John Wick 3 where due to their armour Wick's bullets can only stun the faceless horde of baddies? It basically becomes a long distance fist fight until Wick can close quarters and shoot them in the vertebrae. That was almost as good as a martial arts fight.
