This is the fuck up, not focusing on Johhny and keeping Daniel as the bad guy/asshole. This show shines when it's about Johnny and Zabka carries the show. Spreading the story to everyone else just dilutes that. Might have been better as a limited series about him.

They actually did and they were even making a real connection for a moment but it was all ruined only a few minutes later.

Cobra Kai is just always going to be significantly more cool than Miyagi Do. Mr. Miyagi is dead and he was the only Japanese character who could lead the gym with Daniel. Japanese people are cool. Rich suburban dads from New Jersey aren't. Cobra Kai is like a snapshot of everything cool about the 80s. Miyagi Do is like a cringey older person helplessly navigating the international section of whole foods while mispronouncing every food name.
