Well lads, I saw it. As I thought, the critics can get fucked. As much as I hate quips, I didn't really mind the very few (which we all saw in the trailers) that there were, as they had better context than in the trailers. The human characters were some of the better ones in a Godzilla movie. I wasn't bored when they were on screen. The sound design and choice of sound effects was great, the special effects, great. I'm not the biggest fan of CGI but I thought it was good. I also appreciated the practical effects that were in the movie. They had alot of real sets and real explosions, the interior of the Orca is the first that comes to mind.
As for the queues the movie gave long term Godzilla fans, I thought that was great too. It faithfully draws upon 65 years of heritage.
The life suck of Keyzer Ghidorah, the lightning wings of Grand King Ghidorah, Mothra transferring her life force to Godzilla like Mothra and Ghidorah in GMK, or Rodan and Godzilla in vs Mechagodzilla II, the coice of when to use the classic vs Legendary roars.
I loved it lads, it's everything I'd ever wanted since I saw King of the Monsters! when I was 5.

I'd kill for a Walking with Dinosaurs styled spinoff of ancient Kaiju's in their wild habitat going about their daily lives.

Pro eco-terrorism and making a case for snapping everyone. The monster bits were genuinely good and Charles danse makes a good antagonist as usual but the stronk teenage girl to the rescue bit was forced and I think the entire premise of young, innocent girl saves the day is starting to feel cliche.
Oh and black female general is ridiculously absurd.
Overall 6/10, not bad but could be a lot better

I'm shocked how much I loved the human action aboard the Argo. It makes me want to see G-Force stuff now, really. I'm going to have to see Tokyo SOS again tomorrow due to this movie.

The hinting of mothra twins, basically all battles, and the sudden appearance of the oxygen destroyer were 11/10. The movie was great. Likely the best Godzilla movie ever made. Do not trust any bad reviews. It's phenomenal.

Kong vs. Godzilla is already finished and in post production. They filmed it back to back with KOTM. The only way I could see them doing a Justice League-style heel turn is if this movie fails to make a profit. Looking at the audience rating on RT I'd say they have nothing to worry about.

Dawn of Justice only had a 63% rating with the audience because normies couldn't understand it and Warner Bros. knew that hostility was going to roll over onto Justice League. Godzilla is striding high with a 90% audience rating, and I don't see it going down lower than the high 80s. If anything I expect it will finish its run in the low 90s.

I think we'll get Mecha Godzilla before Mecha KG honestly. He's so iconic to the franchise.

First off, it's Thursday.

Second, I live in a somewhat bumfuck area of Washington State and it had a pretty decent showing. But I don't think anybody goes to the theater I go to anyway.

Maybe not 2/10 but like 3-4/10. The human scenes were so fucking boring and the dialog was just terrible. The monster fights are absolute kino but there's still like 80 minutes of movie without them.

The only one that is 100% you HAVE to watch first is original 54, and if you really like delving into film history, the American remake.
