I just want Godzilla to FUCK Mothra

If they ever adapt it, they BETTER keep the flying kick.

Attached: maxresdefault-53.jpg (1000x563, 155K)

Holy fuck, we reached image limit so fast. The hype has always been real, lads. It's been a pleasure posting with each and every one of you. I hope the build to Godzilla VS Kong is equally exciting.

So who do you guys think the real villain of Godzilla vs Kong will be? Has to be someone pretty intimidating to fight both of them.

Bump limit*

Attached: secrettechnique.gif (400x170, 1.75M)

As a man who viewed this film with his gf this evening, I concur.

I saw it in IMAX tonight. I’ll probably go see it again on Saturday morning. Best movie of the year by far. I’m gonna wind down for the night by eating some tendies and watching Godzilla vs King Ghidorah.

Attached: 3902139A-B43C-46AE-83BB-1CEBB47DA358.jpg (384x384, 18K)

Destoroyah feels like a given, though I'd welcome other possibilities.

Don't watch unless you want to be spoiled
fuck you ghidorah you space nigger

Hopefully Destroyah. If it's Mecha Godzilla/Ghidorah I'll be immensely disappointed.

Destroyah
Space Godzilla
Mechagodzilla
Hedorah
Bagan

youtube.com/watch?v=JHI1sx_WOQo&ab_channel=AlexanderColon

Unironically a must-watch movie of the entire series.

This was unironically my reaction when Mothra spread her wings for the first time.

Attached: Screen-Shot-2019-04-15-at-4.30.47-PM.png (1870x1080, 494K)

Where's the Armond White review to tell me what to think

I feel like it'll be Mecha-Godzilla, which Kong will be fighting at the beginning of the movie until the real Godzilla shows up and the cover is blown.

Man, it's so damn wholesome to see the audience actually liking the movie and sticking it to the critics. While I don't doubt that the movie has flaws, it really does sound like they were exaggerated to a ridiculous degree.

>want to watch the old kaiju movies
>spoiled by Pacific Rim and nu Godzilla

Attached: no hope.gif (320x134, 801K)

Why are critics rating it that low anyway? For not having the kaijus scream that they are genderfluids?

>Point blank triple beam from juiced-up Ghidorah directly to the chest
>Doesn't even flinch

kino?

lads

youtu.be/9lmZRRqF6wA

Attached: 1509562063604.png (1054x526, 38K)

You just have to embrace them for what they are.
Although the first one holds up very well is still the best.

It's very clearly going to be Mecha King Ghidorah.
Don't know what they were trying to pull with the end credits scene if that isnt the case.

Seeing it tomorrow but the rt score has me worried. What movies are similar to kotm? I loved skull Island and was neutral on '14.

Hey people, What opinions have you heard from normie people?

Attached: 1471015381610.jpg (359x305, 51K)

can someone make a tier list of the godzilla films

Can someone post the ending Godzilla shot again?

Some of those """reviews""" that were singled out by a few good lads here showed how completely disingenuous they were after watching the movie.

Fuck RT. KOTM may be the greatest kaiju movie I've ever seen, not even baiting.

Those Mothra noises with the pulses.
right in the feels

Attached: 1535155077630.jpg (309x323, 46K)

>those mentions of Skull Island throughout and footage of Kong
>the credits with the head liners that mostly consist of Skull Island
>that last shot of the wall painting of Godzilla fighting a Kong-like species
Had me and a few people in my theater hyped.

The old movies are really cool for the over-the-top human stories and practical effects. The monsters are also given personality as the series progresses.

I think critics just don't understand the appeal of Godzilla/kaiju. Their only exposure to the character is through pop culture and the two American films. We're lucky if they've even seen Gojira.

My theater was mostly full and people seemed to really like it

>Just realized Mothra's theme in KotM is a remastered version of her original theme
HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THIS TILL NOW

Attached: 1441151337684.jpg (1024x576, 75K)

The modern world pretty much proves movie critics are useless. We're much more informed and connected to care about some random person's opinion on wether we should buy a ticket or not

Don't forget the aerial shots going through Skull Island in the credits

I'm not big on conspiracy theories, but honest to fucking god this feels like a hit job at this point.

Couple behind me gasped and shouted "NO" when happened
Most of the jokes surprisingly landed and even thought they were all kinda shitty.
Fucking everyone waited through the credits, was the biggest surprise for me.

I want art, ART. I've since saved 2 with her new design. Wodner if this wonderful artist will go back to doing more with Motha's canon design after being inspired by this movie.
>pic actually happened in a way

Attached: 1559265348197.jpg (1024x1024, 215K)

I knew it instantly. As soon as she came out of her cocoon as the moth, the instrumental version of the twins theme played.

It’s loosely based on Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster with cues taken from other movies in the series. It honestly seems like a movie written by Toho, rather than one that’s clearly embarrassed of the source material like 1998 and 2014.

> showa roar and the OG theme play at the same time

Attached: 1553695748804.png (800x960, 1.5M)

My friend who is a big capeshit nerd said he liked this movie better than Endgame.

That too. Fucking GOAT. Almost expected to see a panning shot of Kong's back view.

my girlfriend who is a complete normie nearly came over "how awesome Ghiorah is". She didn't stop talking about it until she went to bed.

Shin 2 when? I want to see spooky humanoid Godzillas

Attached: JPEG_20190311_225318.png (505x357, 171K)

Maybe try some of the 2000s Godzilla and Ultraman stuff and if you like it work back from there. 90s Gamera trilogy is also a good place to start.

>Mothra made an heroic sacrifice to give her spiritual power to Godzilla so he could beat Ghidorah
>You can even see a sort of ghost in the first beam along with the screams

Attached: 512B609C-B0DA-47F8-9E74-35A3A689DD88.png (240x218, 107K)

>Going into the theater thinking there'd be two big kaiju fights tops with 95% of the movie being boring character drama
I can't remember the last time a movie exceeded my expectations like this.

Attached: 1478080536894.gif (245x168, 795K)

The middle head of Ghidorah was pretty fucking smart.

But what exactly was Ghidorah doing to Godzilla while he was trying to recover? Draining him?

Lol, can you describe some of her thoughts on Ghidorah up to that point?

>Godzilla didn't do the instant kill tailwhip
>Nor any cool wrestling moves like bashing Ghidorah's heads together, swinging him by his tail, etc.
>Didn't chokeslam Ghidorah when he was burning

Attached: 1SUSM4F.gif (300x200, 93K)

Seemed that way, with how Ghidorah drained that power grid.

Toho already confirmed that a Shin 2 isn't happening.

ive been to the "real" skull island i imagined kong swinging around the place like a chimpanzee
youtube.com/watch?v=wTP2RUD_cL0&ab_channel=DireStraitsVEVO

Attached: ccimage-shutterstock_710904682.jpg (1000x750, 305K)

It's a Toho movie with a Hollywood budget. The story and characters are retarded but the fights and monsters are fun. It feels like Godzilla. It has more action than 2014. Not much more but there isn't that pull away when it's getting good cocktease that was 2014.

What about the bodyslam

Let's make a list of our all-time favorite scenes from every single Godzilla flick. Mine would have to be when Mechagodzilla sheds his disguise and does battle with Godzilla, because I was a little kid and saw it in a drive-in theater so Godzilla and company were LIFE FUCKING SIZE, and at the time this was the greatest shit I had ever seen in my little life.

youtube.com/watch?v=JmlXRA9VGJ4

In the Legendary movies, all the monsters are fueled by radiation rather than just Godzilla like in some of the Japanese movies.

But he does do a tail slap and curbstomped Ghidorahs chest in

>Goodbye, old friend.

Attached: 1489435132029.jpg (753x707, 331K)

Mothra is a good girl. I just wanted her to be happy.

Attached: 35935693569.gif (300x168, 1.19M)

I know :(

Attached: shingodzillaab27.jpg (750x500, 92K)

jaguar shaking godzilla's hand
ghidorah in monster island
godzilla seeing his dead son

>tailslap
Oh shit, I must have missed it then. which part?

My dude, did you see that curbstomp? Or the first fight where he takes one of the heads and pounds it into the ground?
We got Godzilla playing prison rules here.

youtube.com/watch?v=nYT3TdYYHkU

>Hedorah
Literally filth

>ending of Shin 2
>humans on tail
>we were the real monsters all along
Sasuaga, Anno senpai

I re-watched this movie the other day. This moment is absolutely kino.

I have to say, I fully expected the Red Spiral Ray, and was very shocked we didn't get it.

I have no idea what the hell we got.

Attached: dLD4rzb.jpg (870x365, 55K)

one of the newspaper headlines in the credits said that another mothra egg was found, she might come back in godzilla vs kong or a later film

Does this count? I really loved the scene at the end where the diamond thieves get crushed by the giant boulder.

Attached: uchu-daikaiju-dogora.png (298x425, 273K)

FUCK YOU TOHO

You best be jesting, Hedorah is a better kaiju than Gigan.

Sorry guys, I didn't it. It's fucking boring.
For the first forty minutes I was cool but they didn't hold on the fights long enough and the funny characters got boring and I felt like I was sleepwalking through the whole thing.

Glad everybody likes it. It must be nice to be easily entertained.

Attached: godzilla_dissapoint.jpg (2737x1200, 906K)

Spoiler: The military actually makes him a crown if gold and liwers it into his head with a helo

They could create destroya from Ghidora's DNA or something.

IIRC it was one of the shots where it was more a perspective from the humans, but he does indeed slap Ghidorah with his tail pretty hard.

You got burning form and consecutive nuclear pulse instead. I'd say that's an acceptable tradeoff.

What does that mean?

So what do the Japs think of it?

I'm still amazed they let us have the rights again after Godzilla 98.

Head pound was one of the best scenes.

i think they've mentioned gatheirng a lot of kaiju dna
so it's going to be a lot of splicing like with jurassic world

Attached: soi.jpg (1214x1078, 708K)

Nigga they let JJ abrams have the fucking rights to
Kimi no Na wa.

No

In all likelihood yes. The arc of birth, transformation, death and rebirth is part of Mothra's character. I doubt they would bring in one of Toho's most popular characters if they don't have future plans for her. Maybe even her own solo movie.

Genuinely shocked when she died.

Attached: 2848e42168a85df5ce98a44ed1edf42b.jpg (1628x2400, 497K)

Yeah they were talking about food, bioweapons etc.

Saving that for Kang Kong.

>Hello fellow kino aficionados

The government shenanigans were funny but everything related to godzilla was spooky as fuck. How this one adapts to what he is ingesting (started his evolution after the original scientists basically sacrificed himself to watermonster godzilla) and eventually just exploded offspring made of more human material he got exposed to. Truly horrifying.

Attached: 4A09117D-DB35-4EEB-BE0B-4E71AF39089D.gif (221x196, 410K)

i barely noticed, it happened so fast

It's in the Fenway park clash. Godzilla smacks a Ghidorah head and as the heads bite, Godzilla smashes Ghidorah's legs with his tail and keeps turning around to attack with his arms/jaws

it really flows together well, and the perspective is from the ground, but it's quite fast

Ghidorah is a true chad

Then why not just show some mutating crabs like DESOTOROYAHHHH's origin?

Shin Godzilla was meant to be a standalone experimental Godzilla film that twists and plays with the original's formula. It was not intended to be the start of a new phase of Toho Godzilla movies.

Attached: 1509789829170.jpg (620x614, 37K)

Attached: 25692596.jpg (660x400, 54K)

she wouldve tried to fuck a kaiju

90s Gamera, GMK and 80s Godzilla are better then Rim or any of the Legendary Godzilla films.

did anyone else cringe when they destroyed the underwater city with the nuke. Yeah it's fiction, but as someone interested in lost civilizations, I couldn't help but feel a bit sad. great movie though, the dopey human story actually reminded me of the old Godzilla movies human plots in a good way.

Orga

The funny characters except the based Alex Jones guy didn’t even do anything after the halfway point in the movie. I was afraid this was going to be ruined by Marvel-tier quips, but they mixed the humor in nicely rather than it being distracting or breaking the immersion.

Fuck you too user.

>she wouldve tried to fuck a kaiju

Attached: 55B4FEC4-1477-4FBB-90B0-62AD50BF24E1.jpg (362x400, 25K)

THEY FUCKED KILLED HIS FUCKING HOUSE

What if it ends up being an original monster?

Attached: 1546804357954.jpg (764x740, 51K)

The ending scene with Godzilla felt cheesy but damn was it good.

Rodan would never bow to Godzilla though. But it was also a good sign of a human characteristic that was really only prevalent in the later Showa series

SHARE YOUR GODZILLA & KAJIU WISHLIST!

> KOM & vs Kong are successful enough that Toho allows WB/Legendary to renew the Godzilla license & continue making films.

> A 2D Godzilla animated series set in or as a extension of the Legendary monster-verse is released. It's similar in both artstyle & plot format as the 98's films follow up animated series, with many original monsters being created from scratch. Maybe get Fil Barlow from said 98 animated series back to take part in it.

> The long lost 5th Marc Cerasini novel, Godzilla & the Lost Continent is allowed to be published or is adapted into a comic/graphic novel.

> Barring that, Cerasini is tapped to do new Godzilla novels.

> The Stan Winston Godzilla project that preceded the 98 film's making is adapted into a comic/graphic novel.

> Mukesh Singh draws a Godzilla comic/graphic novel with the same artstyle & level of detail/quality as his Dinosaurs vs Aliens graphic novel.

> The future Godzilla cinematic universe Toho are planning to build in place of ShinG2 creates fresh new monsters & plots and doesn't fall into rehashing Ghidorah, Mothra & MechaG like the heisei era did.

> If Mothra gets a stand alone film, it's a straight up adaption of the early 90s Mothra vs Bagan script, including being set all over Asia & not just Japan.

I just want to FUCK Mothra

I mean, all in all the MUTOs weren't that bad.

Didn't care, but my date did.

How did Millie survive being in a tub when the entirety of her house was destroyed

Burgerfat here. I am so fucking glad that Zilla 98 is no longer referred to as "The American Godzilla."

I think itll be Bagan or Destroyah

Yeah I was. And I imagine Godzilla would be pretty miffed that they destroyed his home.

Kringe

Rodan bows because he wants to fucking live

I thought Godzilla was gonna kick his ass. What a slimy bastard Rodan was in this movie. True to his character, though.

Some statements are so true that only illustrations can do them justice.

It will never be Bagan.

>Alex Jones guy
Second time I heard someone mention him, and I forgot to pay attention for it. Who, exactly?

There was nothing wrong the the characters themselves, besides all being super-cliche; they were funny and had chemistry. But when they're the main people we spend time with it became a slog, and people do stupid shit for no reason except the script rushes them into it, like Serizawa sacrificing himself.

ALRIGHT HERE'S ALL THE INFO ON GODZILLA VS KONG

>Written by Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Carribean, Godzilla '98, Treasure Planet)
>Directed by Adam Wingard (You're Next, The Guest, fucking Blair Witch and Netflix's Death Note)
>Maddie is back and so are the twins Dr Ilene and Dr Ling Chen in apparently a "pivotal" role (Mothra's return?)
>For newcomers we got Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, the black guy from Atlanta, the fat kid from Deadpool 2, Jessica Henwick and Lance "based nig" Reddick.
>Principal photography began on November 2018, had to take a break, resumed in January 2019, finished in April 2019.
>In 2017, Wingard gave his thoughts on his writing, saying: "I really want you to take those characters seriously. I want you to be emotionally invested, not just in the human characters, but actually in the monsters. It’s a massive monster brawl movie. There’s lots of monsters going crazy on each other, but at the end of the day I want there to be an emotional drive to it. I want you to be emotionally invested in them. I think that’s what’s going to make it really cool."
>Wingard also expressed his desire for the film to have a definite winner, stating: “I do want there to be a winner. The original film was very fun, but you feel a little let down that the movie doesn’t take a definitive stance. People are still debating now who won in that original movie, you know. So, I do want people to walk away from this film feeling like, Okay, there is a winner"
>Michael Dougherty (writer of KOTM) did rewrites.
>Dougherty spoke about the differences in writing Godzilla and Kong. With Kong, he would have "those very unique, and even warm, bonding moments" between Kong and humans since they've been a staple of the character since the 1933 film. For Godzilla, his connection to humans would be "more implied" as his softer side is rarely shown.
>Scheduled to release March 13, 2020

Thoughts?

Attached: godzilla-vs-kong-1173081-640x320[1].jpg (640x320, 40K)

Yeah no shit. What a relief.

Rodan was a BITCH. Also Left Ghidorah best Ghidorah.

They’ll probably find more underwater cities judging from the end credits montage.

I was bored too for most of it.
I decided to just enjoy the spectacle and focused on stuff like the music and visuals.
Would have liked if they had played more with the colors representative of each monster. The posters did, but I felt the movie could have used more of those color clashes

>Millennian shows up and starts wrecking shit
>Tests out DNA samples of various titans to see what works
>Discovers Godzilla is the apex beast, goes full Orga at this point but uses abilities from other titans
>Godzilla and the other titans team up like DAH! and completely shit on Orga
I want it

just saw it. kino. some annoyances but none of them come from what people were saying. i think the human aspect was fine in most parts, but it did interrupt and bog down a lot of the fights. honestly wished there were more fights. the first one is better in nearly every aspect, but this one is still good

I think it will be Batra

This.

>Treasure Planet guy was also involved on Godzilla 98
How the fuck

>muh climate change
That bit was kind of depressing but overall it was pretty ok. 7/10.

It's good that it made you feel sad. That means you were invested enough to care, and it is a tragic loss.

You aren't getting it

>Second time I heard someone mention him, and I forgot to pay attention for it. Who, exactly?
The guy who was ranting about the hollow earth the whole time and turned out to be right.

> Shusuke Kaneko returns to do more sequels to his 90s Gamera trilogy, keeping the same tone, they maintain his design from Gam3, especially the neck/head & they possibly use the tentacled monster from the canceled Gamera reboot proof of concept trailer.

> All Godzilla & Gamera mangas are released in English.

> We get a proper larger budget kajiu oriented Cloverfield sequel. Ignoring the preposterous size of the monster from the end of Paradox.

Well, it comes out the day I turn 26, so that's cool.

If I recall correctly he wrote the original draft in 92 that got thrown out by Emmerich and Devlin. Shame cause it was a lot closer to the toho movies.

>humans are not a leaving a bad impact on earth
whats bad about accepting that

Disregarding 98, Return of Godzilla was the first film in the series that I saw. The scene where the Russian missile gets blown up over Japan and the sky turns red has always stuck with me. Hell, the lighting in that movie is awesome. Pic related is the VHS collection I got back in high school. A family friend was getting rid of his tapes so I took them.

Rodan should be Godzilla's bro in the next film. They fight every now and then over shit, but work together when it counts.

any hope for Godzilla x Gamera one day? They even showed Atlantis.

was it good folks

The music was muddled and forgettable except for Godzilla's rebirth music and Mothra's theme, and the visuals were bland sandwhich.
I am a grumpy man.

>Scheduled to release March 13, 2020
damn, that's fast approaching

Tbf muh environment is the theme in like 90% of kaiju movies.

Oh him, lol. Not angry enough.

Attached: s1200.png (1200x600, 402K)

Realistically Biollante or MechaG seem the most fitting. Personally I don't give a fuck if he's over the top as shit, I want Gigan on the big screen.

Attached: download.jpg (208x242, 8K)

not sure how Muto-Prime, the natural enemy and parasite of godzilla, who previously killed them in the previous movie is suddenly fine with being loyal to him, even godzilla who hates it finds it fine. one of my only gripes

Why is Shin Godzilla so long

Seriously, what the fuck? With Venom you could at least say "it was really cheesy so I guess I can see why it got scored low", but this is an example of a straight good movie being blatantly review bombed.

Attached: critics vs audience.png (750x317, 215K)

some of the human parts dragged but most of it was ok, but the monster fights elevated it to pure kino. i had a big goofy grin on my face a lot.

After having waited 5 years for King of Monsters that is a refreshingly quick turnaround. They're making up for lost time.

nigger read a fucking history book on japan

it's got some issues but yeah, for real, it's a summer blockbuster monster movie. critics were looking way to deep into it

Something about the general atmosphere in this movie works so well.

Here's what they should have done:
>instead of KotM, second movie is Monarch going around the world trying to locate Titans
>Rodan is awakened and he and Godzilla have a long series of scuffles a la Ghidrah the Three-Headed Monster
>They end up becoming bros by the end of the movie
>next movie
>King Ghidorah arrives
>Rodan turns his back on Godzilla and bows to the fake king
>the hurt is real

anyone have a screenshot or picture of Ghidorah spreading his wings on top of the volcano with the Cross in frame

shit was surreal

lmao, Rolling Stone complains about lack of lighting, let's reminder of how CGI ages when in full light
youtu.be/b2CkJYLOQV0?t=57
The normies are literally complaining about lack of lighting for giant monsters even though you can all the badass WWE moves and cool visuals. The darkness is to make sure it doesn't age as much.

I like the second one more, there's that perfect level of lighting, but I blame the lack of interesting characters. Brian Cranston's character who was an I2 turned Monarch employee would have been important. Definitely better than the tragic backstory in this one.

The story was more interesting and attacks libtards defense of invasive species vs. their supposed ideology "naturalism"

My KOTMFU

Attached: g.png (985x799, 638K)

Has the same syndrome of cutting away in the middle of a fight, but now they cut to humans who are in the same place the fight is happening and in direct danger. Which also gives a nice ground-view of the brawl and the sheer SCALE of the monsters.
And for CG/budget/animation reasons, most of the fighting is actually the build-up or just specific moves, but they're all perfectly show and hype as fuck.
8/10 easily

best chicken

One thing that really bothered me in KOTM was in the underwater ruins, you can see a mural of godzilla with the kana for Gojira written beside his image, despite the fact that the ruins have apparently existed for several thousand years before kana existed

...

Burger critics have never gotten kaiju flicks regardless of their actual quality. They're too foreign and genuine. Go back and read the reviews for Pacific Rim and see how many said it was "tongue in cheek" and "it knows how stupid it is." They literally couldn't comprehend a movie that was a genuine love letter to a genre.

Not even memeing, all this happened tonight for me. Near full IMAX theater of all ages, laugh, gasps (especially when Rodan gets stung), and simultaneous eruption into applause at the end, then everyone sat thru the credits and clapped vigorously at the tribute to Nakajima, and at the end of the postcredits scene a bunch of normies shouted "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? WHAT'S GOING ON?" in tones of excitement and engagement. My normie girlfriend loved Mothra, thought Ghidorah was "fucking awesome" and talked about the fight scenes. She liked the human characters fine, too, and the pacing was good in both of our opinions. At least half an hour of monster screentime paced between urgent sequences to move us from place to place. Monsters were full of personality, from Rodan's petulant opportunism to Ghidorah gently tugging the curious, cautious head to "pay attention" in Antarctica, the heads of Ghidorah helping pull free the regrown head, Godzilla's anguished cry at Mothra's death...it was incredible.
I'm gushing but its really a dream come true. I was terrified after 4.5 years of waiting we would end up like Star Wars fans. But I went tonight with my Jet Jaguar shirt to a near full IMAX theater on the first showing of its theatrical run, people all around me, gasping, laughing, the rancorous applause, the staying till the postcredits scene, the normies loving it, the 89 percent audience rating on RT...it was an honor posting with you guys on Yea Forums, one of the only generals on Yea Forums that didn't devolve into tripfag shitposting.
I was terrified we would get our equivalent of the Last Jedi, but we didn't. We got the opposite. Great movie that loved the source material, horrible critic score, great audience reception, exceeding box office expectations, set to crush in Asia and I personally think domestically too. We could have had a TLJ or Last Guardian or Duke Nuke Em Forever or Season 5 on of GoT, but we didn't.

That was the only cheesy part of the whole movie.

>not with the military
come on man, the military is pretty much useless, they atleast made them provide
distractions which is kino and my favourite scene in the trailers.

To be fair, he DID have Mothra on the ropes. He got too trigger happy and rushed in. She might as well have been near death after their fight.

Me & 5 of my bros went & saw it & we all agreed to spit roast Mothra next time.

I wanna KISS Ziyi Zhang!!!

Can't wait for her and her twin to bring Mothra back in vs Kong just when it seems like they're all going to lose and then she comes in to saves the day.

I just want Mothra to come back and be happy and FUCK Godzilla honestly

As much as I like KOTM, I think it also shows how good Gareth Edwards was in G2014 for the cinematography

the fights were easy to follow and there were loads of really great shots with dramatic buildup that didn't feel dragged on

I really thought Godzilla was going to fuck up Rodan because of what happened to Mothra. I thought they were trying to show us that Godzilla saw the wound from Mothra

>I got it from a fortune cookie

Only time the audience laughed. Since it was a small audience does that mean a good thing?

I'm can't think of a fight Rodan won on his own in the classic series.

The biggest redeeming factor of the movie.

It's funny because that script had a backstory for Godzilla that involved Atlantis, and that has made its way into the Legendary series. I was not expecting that, but it actually worked.

As aggravating as it is that we didn't get that version of Godzilla, that series of fuckups is what led us to where we are now, and I am glad we have the Legendary series. I wish I could go back in time and watch them with my younger self because I thought that Zilla 98 was as good as we were ever going to get for an American Godzilla movie. How glad I am to have been wrong after all those years.

Holy shit, this was a complete 180 from the last Godzilla movie. I absolutely loved it.

I do agree. Could have been so much better but they went gray on most of it.
I liked how Ghidorah's eyes glowed during the city scene.
Too much gray everything else, despite having so many colorful monsters.

>those sporadic scenes where she joked with the other scientist guy

you just KNOW that come next movie she will have had twins with him. Theres no way they set up all those scenes if it wasnt gonna matter.
she's gonna have twins and they're gonna have something to do with Mothra

Why does Godzilla's best character keep dying? It's not fair bros..

>Mothra dies
>Yet again
IT'S NOT FUCKING FAIR BROS

Well that kinda wasn't very great
Just okay I guess
Don't go into this with big hype, if you thought 2014 had a bad human to monster ratio, then boy are you not gonna like this one

Why can't we get a good Godzilla box set in America? Even if it was like $300 I would buy it as long as it was on Blu-Ray and they didn't leave anything out. Although I will still be keeping my Criterion Godzilla Blu-Ray because the packaging is amazing.

The thing is the NPC-tier of Godzilla fans will just see a monster on screen and go "yay! my favorite monster" and clap and drool like a retard and because the pleasure switch in their brain got flipped, they think they got what they wanted and fail to notice that they barely got to see the monsters actually fight and that there was no buildup or meat to make the few brief cool moments satisfying.

maybe if toho stops being stingy and licenses some more characters

There was so much fucking dogshit in this movie especially with the humans. Serizawa was the only good one. The other characters made me cringe with their dialogue. Its like I was reading a Pepe tropes thread. All the monster shit was cool, I'd give it a 5/10

That definitely was him rising out of the ground during the montage.

>Anguirus

Film rights are dispersed between multiple companies in the US, Toho will have to get them back for this to happen.

Do you think humanity will resurrect the ancient Titan-worshiping religions after the events of KotM? The news articles talked a lot about how Titans were fixing the planet, bringing back extinct species, and in general just being godly.

THREE ROARS
THREE ROARS
THREE ROARS

How the fuck did Ghidorah end up in the ice?

that wouldn't surprise me at this point. though more likely we'll only see titan worship if they make the ancient prequel like they've talked about when mankind met godzilla for the first time.

I can't believe all the fanservice in this fucking movie. Things 2014 made me dare to never dream of making it into a Hollywood Godzilla film

>Godzillas theme
>Referring to Ghidora as "Monster Zero" and keeping his origin from space
>The allusion to the Mothra fairies

Attached: download (25).jpg (228x221, 8K)

Anguirus was just his shitty suck-up though.
theres NOTHING interesting about godzilla having a brown-noser.

if you wanna talk about interesting character then talk about MechaGodzilla/Kiryu. He ACTUALLY has character growth of sorts across the movies he is featured in going from anti-hero to hero.

>if you thought 2014 had a bad human to monster ratio, then boy are you not gonna like this one
But the trailer made the human stuff in KOM look 50 times better then 2014.

when dad breaks out his whipping cane

"We want the my erect penis audience."

The human story is inconsequential. Stop focusing on it.

For some reason Godzilla vs. Gamera is one of those things that's almost impossible to get the rights together for. It's like Batman vs. Captain America, it would require a fuckton of co-operation between two competing companies that are highly protective of their IP.

Honestly I feel like it'd be more likely to happen if it were a Japanese production, but I'd be quite surprised and curious either way if it actually got made.

were the mother twins in the pictures the original actresses for the mothra twins? i felt like they were not random actresses

Ghidorah crushed her in Antarctica

I honestly would love to see a hedorah fight again since the there is so much animation effects that can be done for him. (Although the political theme of climate change due to pollution might not make the movie fun if it veers in an accidental political issue way)

movie was shite innit

no retard what Im saying is

by next movie she will have popped out two kids because her family is going to be instrumental to Mothra's revival in some way.

the reason she got so many small cues of her and the other scientist is so that they can set up the next generation in the inevitable sacrifice/revival scene.

It was pretty obvious my dude. Mothra was on the other side of the map, how could she have been at both place at once? Not to mention, I feel like they added that scene with the family picture, just so that they can show her with her twin as kids for the people that didn't catch it the first time.

>Lord Tywin! We've found a way to combine the regenerative properties in Ghidorah's blood with the Godzilla cells we found in Boston!

They also played a little of the twins theme when Mothra first spread her wings. It was instrumental.

Ghidorah crushes her.

why was mothra in ancient legends if she just hatched from her cocoon like ten minutes ago

is it just the mothra species? does mothra go into larval hibernation and restart her own developmental cycle? will there be a new mothra in GvK?

You would think since they are treating Shin currently as the poster child they would try to do Shin 2

disappointed charles dance was just a dude talking with no real threat (aside from the first few minutes of the movie)

1. That's a terrible argument
2. I could ignore it if it didn't take up a huge amount of the run time and just totally suck
I'll take a blatant US military ad over whatever that was

Brainlet moment I guess.
In my defense, it didn't help that both had the same hair and personality

85 was my first and favorite Godzilla film. I saw it in '86 on TV when I was 5 and have been hooked since. I haven't been a fan of pretty much anything else as long as I've been a fan of Godzilla.

Anyone else pissed that they din't use Rodan's roar?

Since Gigan is a cyborg he could be a good setup for Mecha King Ghidorah and even Mecha Godzilla down the road. In fact, maybe the eco terrorists have already been reverse engineering him.

Yeah you're the retard here kiddo
Godzilla VS Kong is next year. It won't be a timeskip. Her and her sister are the Mothra twins. She isn't having any kids like some fanfiction. Try paying attention next time.

anyone have the image where a critic called endgame and kotm convoluted but gave endgame a positive score?

At first, I kept hearing "Orca" as "Orga" and thought that maybe they were building to something like that (yes, I'm probably autistic). Imagine:
>Build machine that mimics kaiju cries
>Eventually develop creature that mimics kaiju powers
Maybe Game of Thrones guy uses the Ghidorah head and other monster DNA to create Orga?

Mothra can't die. She's literally immortal, but sadly she's a healer not a fighter that's why her role is to always support her husbando so he can fight to his heart's content

bitch ass faggots

Let them ease into it. Kong vs Godzilla will have a lot more action to it. But this movie was a straight up homage to the old films. And in the old films there was a lot of human parts as well.

youtube.com/watch?v=iMOl-amah8w

That's what the post credits scene would suggest.

Each kaiju is its own species, so there could theoretically be multiple members of each, just like there’s multiple MUTOs.

Wait that's not what you were asking for, my bad senpai just skimmed your post.

I really liked the world building they did in this, and the possible future bits they teased. The movie was alright, but the world it's setting up and showed was great.

They're both retards.

>The hydrogen destroyer
>Atomic Godzilla clearly a reference to Vs Destroyah

Yeah that annoyed me too

Why is the intro of Godzilla's theme getting me rock hard everytime?

NEW THREAD WHEN

I’m really looking forward to it. I hated Blair witch but don’t mind death note since I don’t give a shit about the source material. I like his style. I think he can bring the best of 2014 and KOTM together. The serious, thriller tone on one end with pure fun monster brawl on the other.

It's really not
It's actually worse and makes the movie drag to a lamer final battle
Im not saying it was bad, but that 2 hours and 12 minutes really felt like 2 hours and 12 minutes if you know what I mean
I've still got high hopes for Kong just because you can't make that movie without a shitload of fighting

I'm making it then going to bed. I've made all 3 of them so far.

She really needed a battlefield execution.

Did the human plot feel like it was filmed 20 years ago? I can't really explain it, but the way it was written and acted felt like a 90's flick

I know what an orca is and the intent behind that machine. Like I said, I'm pretty sure I'm autistic. That, or I just like Orga too much and want to see him in another movie.

I loved the fact, even because of the radiation, that Godzilla slept/recovered in an ancient city/area created for him by old humans.

When the ruble started moving, I thought they were going to have her survive. I'd have been pissed

I got Zilla 98 vibes at one point but I think it was just because of all the rain

My headcanon is that he's the 54 Serizawa's son. And that would mean that the Oxygen destroyer was conceived by his father, but had never been used until KOTM. It's tragically fitting that he died to save Godzilla after his father's creation nearly killed him.

Also I thought you were going to post Mothra. ;_;

cringe but thats okay because this is a b movie.

of all the "cinematic universes", I'm glad we're getting this one

Destoroyah only because :
The director seems to be a fan, so I don't think the oxygen destroyer in KOTM will have the same role as in Godzilla vs Destoroyah + Charles Dance's character has Ghidorah's DNA and others Titans aswell

Only low-brains think it'll be Mecha King Ghidorah, it's too early to introduce Mechas in this

Pretty much my thoughts. 2014 had better visuals/cinematography, besides being dark, regarding the monsters. And while I love that KOTM had more monster screen time, the human characters really dragged down the fights scenes especially the last one, compared to 2014. Great movie, will re watch it again but I think 2014 is better.

Mothra will be back. She loves you too, user.

I thought they were going to kill my short haired nigra wife during the battle of Antarctica

I am glad they didn't

Yeah I thought it felt very Emmerich-y throughout and I didn't even click that he made the 98 one. I was just thinking of his other shit

Destroyah is based

>40 years old

I loved the subtle head moves of Ghidorah. He's clearly shitting his pants

Dude, we had a full theatre in bum fuck Oklahoma, there were also like 20 girls some of which were single.
Where the fuck do you live or is that a private theatre? I highly doubt it was that empty considering I live in the Bible belt, cowboy, country, no nonsense region of America.

Atleast the human only stuff was either
A. Military action scenes
B. Less than 4 minutes long and actually built the story

Still better than 2014
Not really, since the beginning every fan hated the human parts. This movie atleast tried to make the necessary bullshit more tolerable.

So you think 12 Monkeys was a bad movie?

she was completely right to be fair.
humans are like 2% wheat 98% Chaff.
like of that entire Mexico coastal town what of value was really lost?

you think those numbers wont be replaced in like 100 years or so?

40 years young greentext kun.

It would be really interesting to see him in CG. I have a feeling he'd actually be a proper quadruped that can stand upright, kind of like a bear.

Yeah, the new producers are actually fans of the original material.

>Not capeshit
>Not sjw bullshit in this at all
>They're all over Aladdin
Even the black characters aren't a big deal. Which is kinda refreshing.

I think the worst review I've seen so far is the one from Chris Cuckmann, that guy has the balls to pretend he's a Godzilla fan and yet you can clearly he doesn't even know wtf he's talking about.

But to be fair, even if I loved the movie the villain's motivation was so retarded that the human parts kinda fell flat.

Attached: 1559017447516.jpg (308x308, 20K)

>since the beginning every fan hated the human parts
That's a meme and only manchildren say it unironically. Watch Sea Monster. Watch any '60s film. Watch GMK. Watch Shin Godzilla.

wtf? if anything there wasn't enough of that shit. I hated almost all the human plot in this movie I checked out at like 3/4 of the way in

Fingers crossed KOTM makes a lot of money then. Toho leased Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan to Legendary because they were so happy with Godzilla '14, and if this movie does well I am sure they will not hesitate to lease out more. They've already let Legendary use their most iconic monsters and they've done them justice as far as I am concerned. No reason to worry that they'd fuck up someone like Anguirus when they've already gotten everyone else right.

Go watch Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster right now.

I wish that guy would have shut the fuck up more. I hated that character.

In the maryland side of the DC metropolitan area, so all the nerds are in Virginia

>Godzilla '98
I stopped reading there.
You're fucking with me, right? Please tell me you're fucking with me.

By plot

He was involved in the first draft that was fucking awesome. But Sony cancelled the project and they put his name in G98 while he had nothing to do with it. Don't worry user

Biollante would be fun. She could give the journalists something to write about, too. That might help the movie’s score.

I want it out NOW.

In an alternate timeline she would be the reason for Godzilla Earth

>Scylla
>Not just calling it Kumonga

That's my biggest problem with this movie. Such a great opritunity in the plot to have cameos and they didn't have a single one. Especially pic related since they had it all there anyway.

Attached: Screenshot_2019-03-27_at_7.45_.31_PM_1.png (1185x613, 732K)

I really hope it happens. To most studios it's probably just old copyright clutter and I am sure Toho could offer them more than the individual films' licenses are currently making for the studios. As a complete boxed set they are potentially very profitable since there are many fans of the Japanese films, and a big bundle like that could reasonably be sold in the $200+ range. It also makes good business sense that Toho would want the distribution of their legacy catalog to be in one place.

Eerily accurate.

He was the first monster that Godzilla fought so he deserves a place in the new series.

Attached: godzilla-raids-again-1955-featured.png (1256x514, 635K)

If Ghidorah had a voice, one head is voiced by Norio Wakamoto, the other by Ryusei Nakao, and the final one, Takehito Koyasu.

You seem to be forgetting Toho decides to license out monsters. And rumor has it, they are very stingy and very expensive.

If they could have gotten Kumonga so easily, it would of been Kumonga instead of nameless giant spider in Kong.

Godzilla vs Kong is done, we got Ghidorah with hollywood budget. I can die happy now.

Problem with Godzilla sequels is the same as Jurassic Park. The more sequels you make, the most retarded the plot becomes

Godzilla was about to fuck him up, but Rodan bowed down

The human parts of this movie are better and there are plenty of monster scenes. More importantly, the human scenes are actually taking place where the monster action is so there's not that massive disconnect like in the last movie. Visually the first one was better but overall this film was an upgrade.

In the last few years Toho seemed to be less retarded with how to use their IP.

I mean a few decades ago we would never had so drastic changes like Shin Godzilla or even the anime trilogy

>goji is the last of his species, so he must be pretty lonely
I figured the reason he always comes back to Tokyo is that's the nesting ground for his species. He's looking for Mrs. Godzilla. But he can't find her, and these little army ants have built this huge hive there, and they keep shooting shit at him, and it pisses him off.

I also figured why Balin's reconquest of Moria failed is that you can't grow shit underground, so obviously Moria was dependent on human farming communities. I had all this figured out when I was eight. That's what being a Tolkien nerd/Godzilla fan is like when you grow up in the country and know about birds and mating grounds and farming and stuff.

I was a weird little bastard. I admit it.

Not him but I was like, that giant ass plane they have is FAST. Then I slowly realized my mistake on the way home as I digested the film further.

Mothra's overrated

Not really, because Ghidorah is an invasive species, and would have ironically fucked the earth up

>60's
lol, the 70's child/environmentalist oriented movies were the worst. New fag.
>shin godzilla
>basically political Evangelion without the Eva's
I mean yeah, that's why I don't expect anyone to like it unless they know about how autistic the japanese workforce is or how cucked japan is politically. That's why all the nips loved it and all the burgers hated it.

user, the animated trilogy sucked.
>first movie was awesome
>second movie was mildly disappointing
>third movie was full on retard mode

...

I just couldn't care about that family that it centered around
At least in Shin and 2014 I felt like the humans had stakes

>plot
I came to see Godzilla kick ass and I fucking got it.

I was actually worried that it was gonna suck. But then I was blown away just goes to show you how out of Touch modern critics are.

You shut your heathen mouth.

Hey

Fuck you

I'm guessing Godzilla fought it long ago but they both came out weakened so Goji went home and Ghidorah just got encased in ice as it slept on the ground.

Not him but I like retarded Godzilla plots such as human-sized roaches summoning a buzzsaw monster to try taking over the world.

Yes. Yes you fucking can and should. That's the entire point.

You’re forgetting that the original Serizawa got cucked and an heroed so his waifu could be with her lover.

The Blair Witch Project was great if you watched it in a dark theater in like 1999 or whenever it came out. The ONLY horror film I actually got into. I remember being like 13 and too scared to go to the bathroom.

Nothing horror-related usually scares me, and I don't count jump scare as the same thing as actual terror. tha'ts more of an EW A SPIDER ON MY SHIRT scare.

The retard sitting next to me who was clapping and going “WOW” at every kino scene thought it was Kamacuras.

not him, but they very explicitly showed she's a third generation set of twins, he's just saying there could be a fourth by next movie if they'd prefer to go with kids instead of focusing on Zhang, which seems perfectly reasonable considering the way this franchise has become more family friendly every installment so far. No reason why there wouldn't be a time skip either, seems pretty likely, actually.

>DEUSZILLA VULT

It'll be as real as all the fear of nuclear winter turned out to be.

Would have been kino. Could have been kino.

>There are still people on this Earth that haven't figured out that Kaiju films is professional wrestling for the boys that were smart enough to figure out that professional wrestling is soup opera for boys.
