Ed vanished into the ether of forgotten TV because NBC used a TON of licensed music on the show, which they didn't lock down for home video release. As a result, it never got a DVD release and remains unreleasable, because no one wants to fucking pay the money needed to clear the music rights or risk releasing the show (which has already been forgotten) with replacement music and having no one buy it because fans are pissy about the music change and massive cuts to remove any scene where overdubbing was not possible.

A lot of shows that have been forgotten are due to this. IE they used a TON of licensed music, often without any foresight on the show getting a VHS or DVD release or even streaming.
With that, the show is now lost forever and sometimes can't even air on reruns because the contract for the music expired/didn't cover reruns on TV in perpetuity.
And some shows, it's basically impossible to overdub them because of dialogue playing during the scene. Which means owners either have to cut out huge chunks of various episodes (pissing off buyers of the sets) or not releasing them at all.
