This movie is so by the numbers they may as well have told you the time in the movie when it happens. At least they accurately portrayed modern modeling by not casting an attractive lead. Jena Malone's agent needs to be fired from a catapult, she's too good for this horse shit.

That's what doesn't set it apart because that's nearly all of foreshadowing. That's why it's foreshadowing and not telling you what's going to happen. This would have to be your first experience with this narrative tool to think that it's at all noteworthy.

They not telling you what's going to happen in the movie. They are just just discussing lipsticks, so there is no insensitive yet to take it literally. Furthermore it takes place at the beginning where is nothing yet shown and viewer still guessing what's going on. Of course after the fact it will not look as foreshadowing if you already know what's going to happen.

I love this movie so much.
Upon rewatching it for the umpteenth time I was enraptured by the way the interview with Christina Hendricks is meant to lull the viewer into a hypnotic sense of warmth and security. The music, Christina's smooth soothing narrative, the slow focus, and quick switches between characters while their eyes maintain the same position on the screen. Much like a wolf in sheeps clothing leading an innocent lamb to the slaughter.

Even low IQs can find some enjoyment in the film's pretty pictures and great soundtrack. Cliff Martinez is a fantastic artist. I do think though that people who genuinely care about the film's themes will be pleasantly surprised upon additional viewings, since there is plenty to take in, in terms of symbolism. So maybe give it another shot, or don't if you know you're just going to hate it, don't bother wasting your time in that case.
The film speaks of the narcissism which has become so commonplace with modern youths, particularly zoomers, but I think the zoomer audience was the last thing on Refn's mind when he directed the flick. Don't hate the film simply because you can't appreciate it.
