I'm not sure what they were expecting when they hired the writer of the 1998 Godzilla movie, and the guy who directed fucking Krampus.
I'm not sure what they were expecting when they hired the writer of the 1998 Godzilla movie...
Wtf why is it getting lower
Every critic basically copies each other so it takes time to change up their reviews so plagiarism doesn’t get them.
Wtf I just bought a ticket for this Tonight... Does it really suck?
Because it's good
I liked 98 zilla very much as a kid, but then again i liked gamera movies more than godzilla ones
>98' zilla writer
Not true,this is BAIT
ABANDON NOW
You shut your whore mouth, the 90s Gamera trilogy is pure kaijukino.
An even bigger question is why Yea Forums pretends it's good. The human side takes up the vast majority of the movie is shit. The fight scenes which are poorly done (except for one big moment) were a letdown.
Its okay. Not great. Don't believe the critics complaining that theres too much monster stuff. As the movie went on and each fight was only about 5 minutes I kept thinking "there must be like a 40 minute fight at the end".
There wasn't
43% critics on an action non capeshit monster movie means 80%+ audience
Why do they always shoehorn ecofascist bullshit into these movies? I literally don't give a fuck about the planet, I wanna see big monsters wrestlefuck each other like it's UFC baby.
>(((critics))) hate it
Must be good
You say this as if the Krampus flick was bad
I don't believe you.
>why do Godzilla movies have a message
based retard user
Just be good anons and just watch Endgame and or Aladdin again. Dont let these talentless WB hacks steal your money for products like this. This movie is basically Last Airbender to Pacific Rim Uprisings DB evolution
because it's a shit movie and more reviews are coming in you fucking retard
Going to be less then 30 by Sunday. Glad this Monsterverse trash will be buried finally. Shin Godzilla Universe has been avenged.
Capeshit movies have high scores here. Why do any of you retards take this shit seriously?
Will RLM review it?
krampus was one the better horror-comedies of that last 10 years you pleb
While everyone agrees that these reviews are msotly bullshit, those who cared and actually did want to see the movie admit that some elements could've been improved. I predict Godzilla vs. Kong will have some reshoots to address them.
because if you don't like Marvel Movies, you are a bigot. And you will become a try hard incel if you pay for KOTM instead of Endgame.
and they will say it's shit and tell you to go see endgame again. Whole 10-15 min review in less than 5 seconds. Moving on.
Krampus was kino you braindead faggot
Yeah they will hate it, say they don't care about Godzilla again and insert cut away gags with silly Godzilla moments again. Easy review.
>43% critics on an action non capeshit monster movie
The majority of the Godzilla films have always been low-tier capeshit post-1954 once they steered from the message of the original Gojira movie. The people who think that Godzilla was always about monsters fighting other monsters mindlessly is the generation raised on the stupid "Godzilla Vs." movies post-Gojira and believe that this is what Godzilla always was, hence why these people hate stuff like Shin Godzilla, Gojira, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Normies don't understand that Godzilla itself is supposed to be the ONLY threat in a Godzilla movie; a force of nature meant to be a message about the dangers of atomic warfare and the people who try to survive its terror.
did you even watch the same movie we did?
America can't into that level of kino, so they should be making the monster mash schlock anyway
Implying all these Godzilla films were kino when they were all shit except for Shin
This has to be the plebiest opinion on this board
And you call yourself a Godzilla fan thinking any Monsterverse movie was good. We all know Hollywood Jews cant make Godzilla movies.
>hollywood jews cant make a godzilla movie.
The only legit good American Godzilla film was the original version of King of the Monsters from 1956 since that one was a joint American/Japanese co-production. This new one is still crap for going with the "Godzilla Vs." formula.
>muh /pol/
RENT FREE, NIGGER.
RENT FREE.
But its true, why else we keep getting the same kind of pro diversity and same fucking capeshit movie every year staring a different diverse character?
I knew it was you /pol/faggot stop infesting these threads with your bullshit.
Based Samurai doesn't fear the Hollywood Jew and that thought it living in you rent free. Also faggot isn't very progressive to call someone now delusional tard
youtube.com
...what a fucking jobber.
youtube.com
>Godzilla defeats the bad guy
Wow. Who would've thought? I never would've seen that coming compared to the hundreds of other Godzilla movies. How wholly unique and original. The Japanese could really learn something from this. "Best Picture" guaranteed.
Fuck off you fucking shill
This movie is amazing
One of the best Godzilla films ever made
Japanese would rather make more Shin Godzilla movies, but cant because they wrote that contract with Warner Bros like desperate fucking retards.
Fuck off.
Thank God they won't.
At this point, I'm getting the impression that critics are shitting on WB movies in general. I get the RT rating system but people recommending not to see Godzilla 2? This is just a horseload of shit when you have the same reviewers recommending the shitfest that was Thor Ragnarok or Captain Marvel
I don't know whether it's the infantilisation process that's going on but it seems to me that any movie with actual effort put into it is hated by critics while obvious cashgrabs do well with those lunatics
Idk about that aoe pulse man
Yep, it was either have Hollywood make more shit movies and rely on a shitty anime studio to do movies in Japan, or be based and let go of that contract and make another kino Godzilla film like Shin again.
don’t godzilla movies usually get bad reviews?
Good point.
But is a monster movie, which is why the critics cried about
>MUH HUMANS
The American version sucked though, with all the scenes added with what I assume is some kind of news show that basically explains the plot to you, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon music that got shoehorned in.
Krampus is a good film?
You're just a capeshit brainlet.
Jesus fuck, I was expecting a similar score to the 2014 one, are the human characters really that bad?
They usually don't make slower solo Godzilla projects too often. And aside from Shin they never make movies with basically no human characters or conventional story. Can't say they even have reason to make something similar to trick pretentious gaijin into watching that because it didn't do that well outside of Japan and probably wasn't intended for export.
Only the shitty ones.
Is basically like every godzilla movie.
The acting is actually decent, the cast ain't some D grade nobodies for the most part.
The issue is with the writing which makes them act like robotic aliens pretending to be human, and plot that goes into overdrive once monsters appear, jumping from one place to another, ticking off the usual check boxes.
Are you actually taking a Rotten Tomatoes score seriously? Lmao
>"I literally don't give a fuck about the planet"
The planet Earth.
The planet you live on.
The only thing you were ever supposed to give a fuck about.
Truly sad times we are living in.
>t. watched some of the Heisei series and read the wikipedia article on the 1954 movie
You say that as it's a good thing, user. There's nothing wrong with expecting what still consists 80% of the movie to be written competently.
Toho had shit acting and bland stories because they always jewed out and just rushed those movies yearly, the scripts were made hastily, and the eternal crunch time made them just use the 1st take of everything and call it a day.
Because retards thought that a movie that sold itself from the beginning as a monster FFA didn't have too many human development, and the monsters got a lot of screen time. In a fucking monster movie. Even some asshole YT reviewers like Chris Stuckman and Jeremy Jahns used the same excuse.
The movie was quite amazing actually. It delivered what it promised, which is way more than what most recent action movies do.
Trick r Treat was better.
Retard, disregarding the purple haired tumblerinas, what those faggots are unanimous in saying, is that there doesn't need to be any more human drama - but that's what's there is a noxious pile of shit.
Please stop pushing that meme. There are Godzilla movies with good characters and stories.
i need this movie to work
I NEEDED THIS MOVIE TO FUCKING WORK GOD DAMMIT
>’Godzilla vs King Ghidorah’ has a 20% on RT
>GMK has a 60%
They are hypocrites in full defense mode. If the movie delivered in the story department too and got good scores - they would be the first to say the shit you did. But since the movie got shat on for its writing, apparently the story is irrelevant despite it taking up like 70% of the movie.
>Black capeshit literally considered best movie of all time to RT
Don't rely on RT for Japanese Godzilla movies. The only exceptions are the ones that were released in US theaters within the last 20 years or so. Like G2K, Shin, and the first movie (it got a 2004 release).
>Shin Godzilla
>"shit"
Confirmed brainlet.
>Toho had shit acting and bland stories
The Showa series had better stories than the Heisei series except for the movies between 1965 and 1973.
Monster Zero and Hedorah are kino. Leave them out of this.
The problem with the human side of things is a mix of tired cliches and simple exaggeration. The movie casually destroys the planet, reveals humanity somehow lived at the planet's core all along, implies aliens etc. but at the end of the day none of these topics get enough pathos, it's one long wild ride from one setpiece to the next with at the center of it le grumpy single dad scientist hero and his daughter that swears like a sailor
The movie is real fun but it reminded me a lot of other "monster fighting" ones like AvP, especially with the whole ancient civilization cliche. Whatever resemblance of realism or believable drama the first movie presented is pretty much gone
I have no idea how they intend to up their game when the next movie's focus will be an oversized ape
>Godzilla vs King Ghidorah’ has a 20% on RT
It unironically deserves to be in the single digits. That movie is garbage-tier.
Everyone here should create an account and write a good review so we bring the score up and save gojira-san
Do it anons!
The irony of someone with poor reading comprehension calling anyone a brainlet. Re-read what he meant and apologize to him
I don't really care if the fights are short as long as they're meaty, impactful and interesting to watch. It fucking sucks when movies pad out fights to ridiculous lengths where nothing of note can ever happen. Fights in the wild are short, sharp and brutal. As it should be with the Kaiju.
I watched vs. Ghidorah yesterday, it was fucking insulting, an enormous waste of perfectly good monsters effects
hey if we’re talking about Godzilla I have a question
>GMK
>that scene where the main trio is in the forest
>guy is taking pictures
>realized something is different in the pictures
>says something like “Look there, now its gone!”
what exactly was he pointing out and how did it disappear
the more critics hate it the more I know its my kind of film
That's when they jewed out user.
The early showa had some stinkers, but in general it was decent, contemporary sci-fi kaijukino, it's teh post-DaM era where it all went to shit, and the ratio got reversed.
Likewise, with heisei after KG - it all went to shit and looked worse and worse despite getting more and more money pumped in.
Same with Millenium, most of them are fun, i guess - but GMK is the only unironically and legitimate good movie out of the bunch.
The common factor is Toho's jew tendencies to carpet bomb the market with rushed movies, that didn't get the proper time to be made, every step of the way.
>"only the shitty ones"
>lumps Shin Godzilla with the shitty Godzilla 2014 film, implying that it's shit
>Same with Millenium, most of them are fun, i guess - but GMK is the only unironically and legitimate good movie out of the bunch.
Is Godzilla X MechaGodzilla not good?
Meant to say 1966-1973, but Hedora's human plot is kind of weak. Monster Zero was the last movie to really have an engaging human conflict before Terror of Mechagodzilla.
Never remind me of that fucking Smog Monster film ever again. It was garbage. Every Godzilla film from the 70s was dogshit.
Nah it's memey enough to be a cult classic.
>directed fucking Krampus
Did not realize this, Im now a little bit excited for the movie.
please answer this i’ve been thinking about this ever since I first saw the movie as a child
It's fun camp and not a total trainwreck like Megaguirus, but objectively? Nah. It's pretty much the most by the numbers, cookie-cuter entry in that saga, focused on playing it super safe after GMK didn't make a killing.
Don't confuse enjoyment with quality, user.
>but Hedora's human plot is kind of weak
Yeah. But its plot is solid and it makes up for whatever other shortcomings it has by being so experimental and ambitious. Even if you don't think it's a good film, you have to agree it's an interesting one. And that's more admirable than a lot of what the series does.
Anything made post-1965 falls more into the "guilty pleasure" territory rather than being legitimately good movies. The Heisei series was an attempt to cash in on nostalgia with the veneer of seriousness and better special effects.
>GMK didn't make a killing
GMK was the most successful Millennium movie. If it had done poorly Toho was going to end the series there.
It still underperformed, just wasn't a failure like the previous one. That should tell you how troubled that series of movies was.
I think it was Banno's attempt to recapture the political undertones of the original movie, and apply them to environmentalism, but it just comes off as being preachy. It's not really that bad of a movie, but it's not hard to see why it's one of the least popular among general audiences.
this scene
shit quality but what am i supposed to be looking at here
>better special effects
Did you watch Destoroyah or Space Godzilla recently? Both are laughable and look super cheap - i mean composite shots of monsters ducking it out in an apocalyptic battles, while people calmly commute in the foreground? or planes lazily taxing on a runaway, while ragnarok takes place a mile away? Using literal toys for SFX?
I'm not kidding when i say that late Heisei actually looks WORSE than best Tsubaraya works from the sixties.
>Shin Godzilla Universe
They already confirmed Shin’s never getting another movie and that toho’s just doing a reboot + new cinematic universe. Shin was a one off.
If you average all the films of the series RT has reviewed, you'd fall somewhere in the high 50% threshold. I think it's time to accept that the series was never truly great, and as a whole it's about a 6/10 if you aren't relying on nostalgia.
>better special effects
What does the 90s Heisei movies do better than the 60s Godzilla movies?
This should be obvious. It's a terrible franchise starter. Good for some heavy-handed analogy and an impressive monster scene from time to time. An experiment to try something new and make it stand out from more conventional Legendary version but if they want a longer series they need to approach it differently.
I think anyone whose head ain't so deep up their ass that it resides in their stomach accepts this.
It's just that there's also some standout examples of acclaimed Kaijukino, and you can't exactly blame is for hoping that every movie that comes out will the next one of those.
The Heisei series had the benefit of things like better rotoscoping and more convincing monster attacks. Vs Destoroyah was just super rushed since Toho was desperate to finish the series to make room for the 1998 movie, and they were trying to cash in on nostalgia for the 1954 movie again after Vs Spacegodzilla underperformed. They didn't even give Miki any kind of character resolution, and just let her kind of be in the background.
Why does anyone use pozzed Rotten Tomatoes over superior IMDB?
Perhaps not everyone is dumb enough to rely on RT. In its own right the series is great and there's no other reason why it survived this long, can't really compare it to other genres, only to similar series. Judged by objective standards movies like On Her Majesty's Secret Service might earn 5/10 from the critics but among Bond fans it's one of the best.
Please, RT is just an aggregator collecting opinions of all the dumbasses in one place.
IMDB is a cesspool where 80% of votes is either 10 or 1, made by diehards and haters campaigning and making a dozen accounts each.
>Anything made post-1965 falls more into the "guilty pleasure" territory rather than being legitimately good movies
Horseshit.
1985 and Biollante are some of the absolute best of the series.
While I agree, and want to point out that in Japan, Biollante even knocked Gojira off the top spot during a huge ass poll leading up to Shin - that user still has a point.
84 and Biollante are the outliers, not the norm.
>It's fun camp
It's not campy tho and Akane is one of the best characters of the series and is completely serious.
WHY DOES ANYONE USE RT? SERIOUSLY. YOU, NIGGER READING THIS RIGHT NOW, WHY DO YOU USE RT?!
Proof that a lot of people can make bad choices.
This, it was basically GURORIOUS NIPPON for the duration, with evil white people from the future needing to make a giant monster to stop Japan’s awesomeness, and Godzilla coming in to save the poor innocent genociders from the evil waito piggu Yankees during WW2. The monster effects weren’t that great either, and after a recent rewatch, I now realize that they always set the big setpiece final battles at night to conceal all the wires. King Ghidorah didn’t do that, so it is glaringly obvious. And don’t even get me started on M-11.
>giving a shit about critics in a time when literally everyone and their grandma has an internet connection
remind me again, what even is the point of critics anymore? I mean aside from getting paid by disney to shill disney movies and shit on not-disney movies
I literally don't care about your opinions critic subhumans
It's ironic that it was released in 1991 of all years. Perfect timing.
Every time critics tear into a movie, it's pure kino.
thats super underwhelming. godzilla just stands there and farts out shockwaves
Thinking of going to the 7:15 screening I work at 11 should I do it lads?
>critic score: 43%
>inb4 audience score: 99.99999%
this
their criticisms arent about the human characters but about how the monster fights "take up too much screentime"
The American 1985 cut of Return of Godzilla (1984) is superior to the original Japanese cut.
Pros of the American edits...
> The added American score tracks from Def Con are great & fit with the original score basically seamlessly.
> The American opening credits are superior for building seriously ominous mood.
> Burr's presence gives a nice nostalgic connection to the original film.
> The American military personnel while a little campy don't go too far & it gives a glimpse at the rest of the world's reaction to these events.
> A few poor special effects shots involving the Cybot are removed.
Possibly most importantly...
> The editing of the build up to the missile collision is vastly superior in the American cut. In the Japanese cut they cut away from the countdown at the last minute & then return to it as a after thought destroying the suspense of the scene.
Cons of the American edits...
> A cool artful shot of Godzilla reflected in windows is removed.
> Reversal of the Soviet's intentions (I personally don't care about this at all it works fine ether way)
> Nitpick - Coke product placement
Even critics score should rise a bit in a few days.
>hired the writer of the 1998 Godzilla movie
They didn't
>In the future Japan becomes super rich and smart and buys Africa and South America
Incel
Nah, it's done.
It's at ~130 reviews now, to put things in perspective, every single review from now on, would have to be positive to push it out of the 60's and into fresh zone. At best we might reach the 50's.
Big monsters fighting on screen is the lowest possible tier of entertainment, even moreso than reality shows. No adult could justify themselves going to see this.
Yea Forums has an obsession with discrediting superhero films as “capeshit”, but films that operate entirely on computer generated imagery while sacrificing narrative cohesiveness are inherently more anti-art and detrimental to cinema—people fell in love with Tony Stark, not the CGI rendered effects of Iron Man.
h a v e s e x
I expect 50s. Now it's mostly reviewed by professional critics who have to review movies like this whether they like it or not after 31st there will probably be more reviews from people who wanted to see it. I heard the movie actually went fresh for a brief period right at the start but I didn't see it. The highest I saw it it was 58%. Sad that it won't go higher.
Definitely doesn't deserve that low, especially when most of the reviews praise the action and monsters
Get fucked cock-gargling faggot
It's Final Wars of this generation. I became a fan when Final Wars came out and was at the bottom of everyone's list now most people like it and KotM isn't even hated by fans, most love it and call it a classic but there's enough different opinions to call it divisive.
>watches monster film
>expects plot
What the fuck is wrong with these reviewers? It's like expecting horror from a comedy movie.
The human stuff in this was less grating to me than the Bryan Cranston stuff, it was just fun actors having fun in this compared to the 2014 movie trying to be all dark and serious
So just because it's a monster movie, they should just ignore that 70% of the movie is a pile of shit and slap it with an A anyway?
Things like plot, script, pacing or acting are universal across all genres of cinema, one doesn't get to have a pass while the other doesn't.
It's not like there aren't any well acted comedies or horrors with sharp scripts, they are a rarity because the goobers like you will eat it up anyway, so why bother putting in the effort.
>watching any movie and not expecting the bare minimum of what defines the artform: a plot
Monstershit and it’s fans are confirmed enemies of cinema.
>A handful of movies are more representative of the "true message" of Godzilla and not the ~30 movies about magic space aliens and ancient civilizations making monsters fight each other
So did I user, but it’s fucking terrible
Maybe 20% of the film is action, all of which lacks the scale of Edwards work. The rest is terrible human scenes.
So if the actors are having fun and aren't as boring as the human element in 2014, what is it about them specifically that critics don't like? Do they lack depth or development? I don't doubt the human element is weak because even those who liked the movie agree that it is, I'm just curious what the negatives are.
Yes, because when you come down to it, most of them are shoestring budget, cash-in sequels carried by the outstanding entries preceding them, sprinkled in across the franchise.
You don't seriously think that movies like Godzilla vs. Megalon or Sea Monster are what made him an Icon, do you?
Just got back from the movie, ask away.
The dialogue and humor are horrible. This is a script even Snyder and Bay would have thrown away
Then why is 2001 A Space Odyssey praised so much? 70% of it is composed of "ayy lmao look at these visual effects". Really makes you think. Also the plot makes 0 sense. Why does that film get a pass?
Disappointed by GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS. Once again it's giant monsters battling it out on the Earth, and frankly we've seen this one many times. Audiences hoping for a break from movies about cities being destroyed by 50 foot creatures are going to have to look elsewhere
Did you like it or are you basically on board with what the critics are saying?
This is bait right?
Oh god I forgot about the "jokes". They all fell flat. Every single one.
Your comment alluded to it, they expected some deep story and characterization. The dialogue being bad is about the only flaw I had with the film personally. If the 2014 movie had gotten to use all the famous monsters like this one did it probably would have been better overall, but I was satisfied with the action in this and wished it went on longer
t. Mouse nigger
The script is genuinely terrible. Not in a fun way either. Monster fights are decent and plenty but always in short bursts in favor of constantly fucking cutting back and forth to different scenes of the humans. Holy fucking shit just let them duke it out for more than 20 seconds with some actual physical fighting and not muh lighting and laser beams FUCK
GIMME RODAN'S ROAR FOR CHRIST SAKE REEEEEEEEEE
The humans are barely there. By which I mean there are no stand out preformances or characters. They're there to service the plot and the husband, wife and kid makes the film feel like a Roland Emmerich film. They could/should have been cut completely in exchange for more Charles Dance thesping it up.
Dunno? because cinematography? because soundtrack? because it was well acted? because Oscar worthy direction? because the ingenuity of sfx binding it all together?(that dude running laps around a 1:1 rotating model of a ring shaped space station was technical marvel at the time, in pre-cgi days)
What new grounds did KOTM break?
>Also the plot makes 0 sense
Brainlet begone, it was straightforward for a Kubrick film.
You have to be a literal turboretard to pick one of the most groundbreaking movies in cinematic history to make your retarded point.
Also the movie set up that Godzilla will be the villain of the next one so it basically will be a King Kong movie with Kong as the hero instead of a Godzilla movie
I saw a few reviews mention a laughably stupid twist or something that happens early on. What is it?
DOUBT
It begins lmao.
Why do these movies need humans at all, same with the Transformer movies, just cut the whole human interaction stuff out as much as possible.
The fights were just that. Although they were shot in a way that emphasizes their size, so often times you don’t see the entire creature. You can still tell what is happening though.
is the opening more kino than this one? youtube.com
As it should.
Destroyah crab at the end? Don't spoil the actual stinger if its not pls
Rossio/Elliott are working on Godzilla vs Kong, not this one. And their names are only on Godzilla '98 because of the '94 script that Devlin and Emmerich threw out
It's an exhausting time. I'm already looking forward for the dust to settle so we can discuss it in one thread at a time with less emotion, less bait and cooler heads. So it's not perfect, it's divisive and the margin is huge (some say action is god-tier some say it was terrible).
Wasn't that stupid, just the main scientist lady freeing Ghidorah because she thought releasing the monsters would be beneficial to human life overall through a scorched earth method. Sounds like women reviewers mad that a female character got used by the villain and made a mistake
Destroying the planet to own the libs
If it's true that religious symbolism isn't just for neat visuals but actualy used to show contrast between good gods and Ghidorah/the devil then there's another thing for them to complain about.
ENDGAME'S LEGS = CANCELLED
How long before all the articles about “Sexist Godzilla fans” pop up?
fake news, the audience score is actually 84 percent now. So more people like Aladdin than this retarded movie.
On the contrary. when it really is a bad movie the review is longer than usual, 30 to 40 min.
this was kino too damn youtube.com
I enjoyed Krampus.
Millie and her mother are working with the terrorists to unleash the kaiju and repair the planet by devastating humanity. Because their family had their youngest child killed by Godzilla in the last film.
It's exactly the same as in the pic now, 1% more if we choose all scores not just "verified".
Aladdin has far more brainless normies going to watch it compared to Godzilla fans who are more likely to criticize it.
why is he fat jesus
>The human side takes up the vast majority of the movie is shit.
i see you haven't watched the movie
Starz Encore is having a classic Godzilla movie marathon atm
Very comfy
So it good or what?
How does it compare to Pacific rim?
And the "All Audience" percentage is 91. Paid off critics btfo
You definitely didn't, or you actually fell asleep in the 1st act and woke up for the climax, 80% of the movie is dudes and dudettes zooming around the world in a helicarrier or a submarine
Any fan of Godzilla will love it, fuck the critics
There's so many little (and big) nods. My favorite is how they handled the twins. Wasn't anything big but any fan could catch it
>more plebs like the more retarded Aladdin than this movie.
Ok now, any one that actually loves the first one and has seen it, how would you compare the two?
I really, really like the first, this is important
yeah you haven't watched the movie.
just saw it, too much human shit and not enough monster shit. There's a fight at the end where the movie clips away from zilla and ghidorah fighting and it instead shows the two of them on a radar, not as bad as 14 but still way too much human shit
>Made in Georgia logo in the credits
Suddenly the bad reviews make sense
just saw it and its a good monster film. 8/10 Godzilla fun.
Is it deep? no. Is it artsy? no. Is it marvel cape cancer? no. Hence critics hate it.
If you like monster films this is a film for you.
Yea Forums has always been /pol/ playground, now gtfo nig
I liked the human drama in the first, this one has too much of it but kinda shittier. It's only there to serve as a driving force for the events that happen in the film. I think it could use some work. The fight scenes are 10/10 though.
Well if you liked first one you will like this one as well. I think this one is better as it is more about the monsters.
both deserve to be lower
I need the end shot of this movie for my laptop wallpaper.
Pure fucking kino.
People clapped for Mothra, God bless these states of Clapistan
>Godzilla fun
Not really. Barely any monster fights, and when there are any, they keep cutting back to the boring humans. There was only 2 good scenes. 4/10 and no rewatchability.
What’s up with the after credit scene? What are they alluding to?
>Barely any monster fights
ok user
>There was only 2 good scenes
which ones?
this movie was meh the fights where good tho maybe 6.5 ish
If you can deal with dumb human dialogue to get to the best monster action ever put on the big screen yes it is very good
MechaGhidora
>tv actor
>tv actor
>tv actor
>tv actor
Why did we think this would be good again? It's very clear Millie Bobbie Brownie is going down the CGM Box Office Poison route.
This movie is absolutely not flopping tho.
It has a projected 230M ww debut and it can easily overperform if audiences like it
I chuckled at the woman fucking everything up because she thought she was doing the right thing. Also that Ending shot was kino.
"OH MY GOD"
"ZILLA"
I thought it was just a trailer thing. but no, they actually did it. The mad lads.
All those words and not one good movie mentioned.
>Mecha Ghidorah with just one flesh head and the rest mecha
nani? What I think is gonna happen is they're gonna get DNA from all the monsters, combine them and make DESTOROYAH
So how is the Ghidora vs Godzilla fight? Is it kino? I'm willing to forgive basically everything if it is.
This is shitty at
m.youtube.com
Should have cut Millie, Coach Taylor, Vera, Silicon Valley guy, and black military lady and made it about Watanabe vs Tywin Lannister
You won't get far badmouthing Shin Godzilla over here you know.
Ghidorah gets his head ripped off multiple times.
also he goes 95 at the end and atomises him
Is mothra cute?
There's three, I liked the very first one the most.
yes
>This is shitty art
>Uses most kino clip of most kino Godzilla movie of the decade, and claiming its shit.
Nice. Is the cinematography (mainly the grounded camera placement and Rube Goldberg-esque sequences) and unique sound design still intact?
It seems like Gareth was pretty adamant about them, I fear the new crew could mess this up
Yes She dies, but leaves an egg. As is tradition
Exactly its a goddamn monster flick not a hippy save the environment s.oy soaked gay pudding eating buttfucking movie
Yes
The critics lied about the limited human screen time. Even most of the angles in the fights were from the shitty ant perspective. They gave too much time all their talking shit too.
Destroy All Monsters is Great.
I just saw it. It was pretty good, not great--I'd say 7.5/10. Human actors weren't great, but they were way better than the standard for Godzilla films. About the only big issue was the rationale behind the action getting started, because there was a lot of very dumb human thinking going on there, but after you get past that part (and if you can overlook some scenes were the military and others do a whole lot of shit for just a few main characters) it was really good. I think they underutilized Ifukube's themes considering they had the right to use them, but they did put them in in at least a few key places for a short duration so that was nice. They also referenced a LOT of stuff from the old films, albeit sometimes in a different or even reversed way. I liked that they had Serizawa dying to save Godzilla this time rather than to kill him, for example, but other references like what I assume was a pretty obvious reference to Destroyah's meltdown Godzilla were handled a bit too quickly and didn't get the level of justice I think they probably deserved. Also you could tell the CGI budget was good but not blockbuster, because the whole "Destroy all Monsters" angle petered out a bit at the end, and the final fight is between 4 monsters rather than the real melee you'd desire.
Still, it's good. Not perfect, but good. A bit bigger budget and trimming some fat in the middle of the movie and I think you have a real recipe for success here, and I was an extremely harsh critic of 2014. It worked its ass off to reverse the "AMERICAN MILITARY HOOAH" bullshit of that film and largely succeeded at it, while hitting a lot of the right notes. It didn't hit them all perfectly or hold them as long as it should've, but it did better than a lot of the original Showa-era Toho movies, if I'm being honest with myself.
I cried during Shin
Will I like this?
It's worse than power rangers

Nigga, Trick r Treat was the shit, and still is. He can put good stuff out.
>from the shitty ant perspective
That's how you show scale. You can't always go wideshot with the building on the background or else it'll look like Pacific Rim 2 and look like Transformers all over again.
You are goddamn right. My 10 year old daughter loved the pumpkin Sam so much, she named our cat after him.
You have officially been placed into the "Gay" category. IMDB is not pozzed like RT is. The reviews posited by anyone far outweigh the weight given to RT's retard level pros.
You and I can be friends. I have been a member of IMDB for almost fifteen years. You know what? Shawshank was battling Godfather for number one even back then. No shit. They swap every couple of weeks, but it is always one of those two. I have been playing a game for years. Every day, after getting dressed before work, I get my coffee and check the birthdays on IMDB. I count the number of actresses I recognize by face, or by name in the first 100 entries. I have yet to break 26, or go lower than 10. It's something to do.
