Depends what you study. If you’re not pursuing a specific job which requires it (Doctor, engineer, lawyer, academic) 95% chance it’s a waste of time compared to a trade or a full time job.

Just do as much undergraduate research as you can and apply everywhere you can. Look into NIH IRTA for a couple years to get your foot in the door (and be willing to move to DC).

the I.T course I was originally on was also scammy, It was all on networks from 80s-90s with side notes saying broadband will probably cost 100-200£ for home use in 10 years
