Everything becomes shit when you try and explain away the mystery. Aliens and Predators were cool *because* of their mystique and the fact we didn't know much about them beyond their actions in the movie.

Serves them right, they let Ridley back in. As awful as goofy cartoon Jeunet was, he didn't try to completely undo everything.

This. We never needed the LOAR, it's fucking Jaws in space. The whole point of the first movie, the only good one, is you barely see the creature. Let alone understand it.

Not really, you just have to be smart about it.
Keep it tonally consistent and for every answer you give the audience, leave them with two new questions. Trying to explain everything, while also attempting to spin it into something it obviously wasn't ever supposed to be, because the director wants to push his beliefs, is a recipe for disaster tho.

The alien lore was fine. If anything ruined it, it's everything after 2 that wasn't made by scott/Cameron and those shitty crossover films.
