My only complaint is that it looks to clean and not alien enough, but that's not something I can tell from just the trailer desu

>netflix original
instantly a 95% chance it will be bad like most netflix shit
I wonder how they’ll incorporate a bmwf relationship into this
noticed CGI 1 second into trailer
already dead to me
Would you say Skeksis and Gefling fall under True Neutral?
So the original movie never happened as far as this series is concerned?
Apparently it's a prequel
what the fuck is this shit
This actually matches the aesthetic of the original. Whereas I expected to watch the trailer and have one of the few things I was looking forward to shit on by the disparity between expectations and the current bar of quality for media. But instead.. I'm excited! Visually it looks fucking great. I just hope the story is decent and they dont try to make a fuckinng trump skeksi or something.
I hate prequels so fucking much
The entire concept is dumb: you already know what's going to happen at the end
Hopefully they don't fuck it up.
Don't know how popular it wil be. You need to be in your 30's to feel nostalgia for the dark crystal.
I didn't notice any mystics in the trailer
nobody saw the original, so who fucking cares
you are some bitter cunts
it's a 10 episode Dark Crystal tv series, in 2019, that seems to be genuinely trying to be faithful to the original. if you're that eager to write it off it was never for you to begin with
looked good and close to the movie
>Same characters
>Boring plot, cliché af
>Absolutely no new creative ideas
The childhood raping continues. It's TFA all over again.
>Same characters
it's not, apart from the skeksis and the old lady
>Don't know how popular it wil be. You need to be in your 30's to feel nostalgia for the dark crystal.
not really. it flopped theatrically and then was all but forgotten until it had a resurgence in popularity with its late 90s dvd release. and since then there have been multiple rereleases
i'm sure it's a relatively small audience but it's definitely not limited to people over 30. i'm 25 and watched the shit out of Dark Crystal as a kid.
Im all for more creature workshop kino
But it looks 90% green screen CGI and 10% puppet
This is obviously a concern
If you want something "faithful to the original" go watch the original. There is nothing that needs to be expanded about the dark crystal story, it's just unoriginal money grabbers trying to cash in on retarded fanboys like yourself
@0:38
meme material right there
>apart from the skeksis and the old lady
And the same looking gelflings and the garthims and the landstriders and of course the crystal.
Nothing new, just endless rehash of old ideas.
>the dark crystal series shows the dark crystal
>worthy of outrage
Pathetic.
Yeah sure I'll give this a torrent, why not
You know remember the sequel that never happened
That's precisely the point. They won't try to expand the original universe beyond a plot that revolves around the Crystal.
I wish
That would be kino
This, but they need to incorporate the original music
>Netflix
>subtitle is "Age of Resistance"
I don't want to be that retard from /pol/ barking at words, but I really hope they don't try and crowbar some kind of political message into Dark fucking Crystal of all things...
can't wait to have the skeksis building a magic wall and grabbing galflings by their winged pussies
I once tried to watch The Dark Crystal with a girl in high school and she told all her friends it was a shit movie and we never hung out again.
Still looking forward to this one though.
If I had Jeff Bezos money I'd become a silent benefactor to the Jim Henson Creature Shop and make sure that this and the final Farscape seasons actually happened.
>make a movie mostly with puppets instead of people or any kind of special effects because you want to
>it's painstaking but your artistic vision and desire to create something different and interesting helps you follow through with it
>someone remakes it decades later under the same name
>DUDE WE USED PUPPETS TOO OMG JUST LIKE THE MOVIE CRAZY #AUTHENTIC #NETFLIX
Artistically bankrupt shit, nobody involved cares, they're just piggybacking off of a name and a unique visual style to appeal the hipstery muh nostalgia crowd
The "dark" crystal is actually a black man's penis and the last white woman alive must get bred by it.
Don't we already know it's gonna be a really bad downer ending judging fron the movie if this is a prequel?
It's gonna be far left feminist trash.
Looks like pure kino might be back on the menu boys!
Please post a few interesting screencaps for a poor phone user, lads.
Its really not for females user. They cannot appreciate the work hundreds of men put into crafting single use sets for a feature length punch and judy show.
IT'S HAPPENING BROS, IT'S FUCKING HAPPENING!
THIS IS THE YEAR OF NEVER EVERS, FIRST DEADWOOD NOW DARK CRYSTAL! WHAT'S NEXT?
IT'S HAPPENING BROS!
>he doesn't know about the massive female Dark Crystal fanbase
have sexerino
>Netflix
Ok, where is the catch this time? There is always a catch no matter how good looking it is at first glance.
Your mothers weight is medically dangerous and no laughing matter. She could die.
>if you don't reply to this post
Imagine being this user
Never cared about the original but that looks FUCKING GREAT!!! A proper weird sci-fi fantasy film without human characters. Now can we get a Netflix reboot of FRITZ THE CAT!!!FACT!!!
>age of #RESISTance
It's gonna be garbage.
is the movie any good? i don't remember seeing it.
>that seems to be genuinely trying to be faithful to the original
yes, it SEEMS that way.
but nothing is ever what it seems with netflix.
is there any ORAGE MAN equivalent in this?
Yeah, the original was a fucking action movie with sword fights and acrobatics puppets.
Fuck netflix
Looks great. Why no theatrical release?
But women love Fizzgig
I wish people would just make original IPs. There's no reason to revive a decades old franchise mostly remembered for its fucking puppets and turning it into a primarily CGI effects fest. If anything mixing puppets and CGI together is even more jarring than mixing extensive CGI and live actors
I am excited but you gotta always be prepared with netflix originals because they usually fuck it up somehow
I’m sorry but this shouldn’t be allowed. There’s no need for it, Jim’s dead, it’s over.
Did anyone actually like the dark crystal...
Jews are not creative. Heck the Jewish religion is just stolen fro the Babylonian.
If you want creative new movies and shows you need a gentile to have creative control, but that’s impossible in such a Hebraic industry. So you’ll get your shows based on movies, movies based on shows, movies based on toys, and endless remakes instead of anything new.
Yes it’s a widely loved, critically acclaimed unique kino. Unlike this show which will be forgotten in short order.
>this actually looks great
Holy shit
Only some of the environments are CGI. ALL of the creatures are puppets, I watched the trailer at .5x speed because I thought some were CGI. Mainly CGI seems to be used for large vistas and fast movement, always backgrounds.
mmMMMmmmmm
It doesn’t matter if the CGI is tasteful in the trailer. This show doesn’t need to exist at all.
Yeah, if you look closely, they even used some sets from the original. (gussied up of course, they would be partially falling apart by now.)
So how long have you been conducting online brand awareness campaigns for Netflix? You must not be very highly thought of in your organization to get Yea Forums duty.
I wouldn't be surprised if a farscape continuation comes out of this if this does well
this actually looks okay. gonna wait till it's out of course but good so far
>Netflix
>subtitle is "Age of Resistance"
I had concerns about these facts as well. Cautiously optimistic at this point.
>I wonder how they’ll incorporate a bmwf relationship into this
Dark-skinned gelfling warrior who solos a Garthim and wins the heart of a blonde, pale gelfling girl. Right after her dad tells her that he'll never amount to anything.
looks like a shameless rehash
Gotta confess, I like the fantastic world this series, but I've always hated puppets. Ever since I was a kid, their soulless eyes and empty mouths have filled me with existential dread. Kids can look at Cookie Monster and realize he's not eating any of those cookies. He's crumbling them up and spilling them everywhere because he's not a proper being of any sort and his innards are a void.
Better Call Saul is better than Breaking Bad.
>theatrical release for a tv show
???
looks like it was videotaped not filmed
> age of resistance
muh drumpf
by this logic, no movies, tv shows, books or music need to exist
looks like shit
I had to do it.
>i had to do it
you had to make a webm?
I'd rather see Henson try expanding on Dark Crystal instead of making more "LOL THE PUPPETS JIZZ SILLY STRING" movies
They made it into a comic book series. It was okay.
Am I taking crazy pills? The original is unwatchable fucking trash...
you're funny
>You need to be in your 30's to feel nostalgia for the dark crystal.
try 40s. I was 8 when the movie came out. the gen that came after already didn't give a shit. Cool timeframe for supposedly family films, that were also pretty dark like this and Time Bandits, both of which gave me comfy nightmares. Those and Poltergeist.
How in the hot hell is this even a thing? Its like remaking 2001...just dont.
DUUUUDE REMEMBER THIS??!! MUH CHILDHOOD
Im pretty sure they only cast Anya Taylor Joy because she looks like a real life Effling.
I don't think it's a remake user.
it's an amalgamation of the sequel ideas that have popped up over the decades.
on a side note aside from The World of the Dark Crystal all comics and manga are shit
Exactly.
>Farscape continuation
Be still my heart!
I'm 22 and feel nostalgia for it
wow what a blast from the past. thought I'd never see a puppet movie. Theres something real and alien about using real puppets that CGI can never get right. Its the closest thing to if you were actually seeing an alien lifeform. (aside from weird movement)
Because the Jim Henson Company doesn't have the Muppets anymore and none of their attempts to fill that gap with the adult-oriented faux Muppets have worked.
Plans to revive Fraggle Rock with a movie have stalled, Labyrinth can't be done without David Bowie, so they see Dark Crystal as their best play for a big franchise, so besides this prequel series, they've been doing a bunch of comics and novels to try and make their own "Star Wars Expanded Universe".
you gotta watch either labyrinth or legend with women user, what are you retarded?
This trailer did stir some nostalgiac feelings in my gut, but after what Netflix did to Watership Down, they can go fuck themselves.
For me, it's the Jim Henson universe. Pretty sure George Lucas and Kevin Feige stole the idea.
well I will admit 2 things
>definite cgi used in this one
>puppets are not on par with Henson's puppets, or atleast it doesn't seem so from the trailer
otherwise ill take ANYTHING that isn't immediately a black man saving the day.
I only hope this gives us more Rule34
Trans gelfling with one wing when
Hey Brian, what was this all about?

youtube.com
>cgi instead of puppets
DROPPED
It's puppets with the puppeteers greenscreened out with CGI only really being used for a handful of longshots similarly to how the original movie did use a couple of short people in costumes for longshots.
>If you want something "faithful to the original" go watch the original. There is nothing that needs to be expanded about the dark crystal story,
I don't think you understand the appeal of the Dark Crystal. The story was basic fantasy stuff of a prophecy and a hero's journey. What made it great was the world itself.
For that reason, as a property it's well suited to be expanded on. Whether they do it well, we'll see.
