Because it isn't very good. No fuck that, it's garbage. The music is dated, the plot and ending are butchered and the movie wastes the cast and all around decent production (bulldozing the filming location excluded). Almost everyone (Boyle/Garland/DiCaprio/Swinton/Macdonald etc.) involved went on to greater projects except for the screenwriter. That should tell you something.
gay opinion
Based
Cringe
This movie is comfy
i remember putting the Beach on a list of movies to watch because i heard in the book there was a sort of subtle sci-fi twist in the later part. There's not in the movie, so did i mishear this?
6.6 is a decent score
It was an interesting film that touched on some interesting themes and stands as a glimpse of its time.
Imho the lower the Rotten Tomatoes mark, the better the film, generally.
Leo hallucinates he's in a video game. Apparently Boyle based it off banjo kazooie but it looks nothing like banjo kazooie. Boyles a hack.
nobody would describe that as a sci-fi twist
>regarding imdb ratings and rotten tomatoes scores
Read the book a few years ago and no idea what you mean. But by any means read the book, it's an uncomplicated adventure story with interesting characters and a gory finish. All that the movie accomplished to translate was the uncomplicated part.
Young Leo was so hot.
>it's dated
Brainlet criticism. Only valid for horror and comedy movies
movie ain't that great but the book is fucking outstanding and launched Alex Garland's career
Pure escapist kino. Visually beautiful and incredibly comfy
6.6 is a pretty good audience score.
As always it is the critics that got it wrong.
