Has anyone figured out the cinematic preferences of the Chinese...

Has anyone figured out the cinematic preferences of the Chinese? It seems completely random to me what they like and what they don't. People who try to pander to China always fail. Case in point: The Great Wall, aka pandering to China: the movie. Failed at the Chinese box office. On the other hand, there's Warcraft, an objectively bad movie that received deservedly low viewership the world over. Except for China, where it was a huge hit and which single-handedly made the movie a financial success.

Here's a much more bizarre example. How I Became Russian is a shitty unremarkable Russian TV series that ran for only one season and was mostly ignored by the public in its home country. But then... It was released in China and it was tied in the ratings with GoT. It got so bad that the Chinese purchased the rights and made a China-only spin-off with a Chinese character. HOW? It's a Hallmark tier TV series. The entire situation looks like intentional trolling.

They are subhumans. They just walk by if they see a three year old get run over by a car.

Lots of cgi and dumb mean spirited humour.

To be fair, it's not a part of their character, it's a consequence of schizophrenic Chinese laws.

This made me laugh because it's TRUE

Doing their part to fight overpopulation.

so where's the difference from the americans?

>How I Became Russian
quick rundown?

Mutt journalist who investigated corruption back in the US is sent to an assignment in Russia to get rid of him. What follows is lots of unfunny jokes about Russian stereotypes.

Americans will spend five minutes at the end on a supposedly-heartwarming "aww they love each other really" bit.
Chinese won't even bother with that.

They like movies if they are entertaining for one reason or another and not just riding on 80s nostalgia and name recognition for some shit they never saw (Star wars). And they know when they are being pandered to and it's not going to make you a billion dollars. Hollywood struggles to figure out what will be a hit in China because they have a racist attitude and think that Chinese people can't understand movies on the same level as refined American audiences who grew up on a steady diet of Rambo sequels and buddy cop movies.

waw

This but they also like it if water/the ocean is involved somehow

You know who always does well in China?

Do the Chinese like beautiful white actresses or do they prefer Chinese women?

The most popular stuff in China isn't that which gets the most positive press but rather that which gets the least negative press. The bugpeople mentality means if someone says it's bad then it's bad and you'll be judged for watching it, if no-one says it's bad then it's fine to watch so everyone will watch it (even if no-one says it's good either).

Thanks. You're a genius. Good god.

So basically, burgers are NPCs and Chinese are not?

I'm white and I'll step over 10 white roasties for one azn qt.

Chinese girls make white women look like men.

China likes spectacle. That can include Hollywood explosion fests or great visual art direction.

True but Chinese girls have a complex about their eyes being too small. They all want to look like Alita, so they like white actresses because they have big eyes.

do they really like boatkino?

>Warcraft
>an objectively bad movie
WRONG
