tomorrow
This weekend.
Yep, seeing it tomorrow. Can’t wait.
I really hope it’s just Heisei era cheese with giant monsters slapping the dogshit out of each other in glorious CG. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.
Bro and me are going tommorow, been looking forward to this movie but I'm not a godzilla fan or anything
Hell yeah
>t.rodanbro
I don't know about other places but in Canada it's Thursdays
Friday
Looks like shit.

I'll bring her to brazil and feast on her bunda gostosa.
It's an interesting idea, please update us on your progress
tomorrow is the day homi
retard
Ye with my Japanese friend.
tomorrow, in IMAX. i'll make a AMA for you faggots.
Saw it yesterday, ama
Yes, in 16 hours.
Did you like it? Did other people in the theater like it?
I hope at least half of the movie is about a squad of brave patriotic American marines.
Yeah, I went to see kaiju action and got more than my money's worth. As mentioned the humans were the weakest part but at least the story moves along quickly.
Dunno about other people, not in America so people didn't clap but plenty stayed for the after credits scene. There's the usual cheers when something awesome happens of course.
Friday night in Imax
Watching this baby tomorrow
Bought nearly a whole row just for myself and to help this movie beat Avengers
Any Toho Godzilla fags around? What are the best Gojira movies to watch as a newfag for both kaiju fighting and Mothra/Rodan/KG lore?
I'm going to get stoned and watch it with my buddies, as is tradition since 1998.
Saw it yesterday.
Was slightly disappointed honestly. But I suppose that comes with massive hype.
Yes
Saw it last night, it was OK. Still a bit too much human stuff for my liking.
Rodan especially was really cool, or "lit", like the youngsters say these days, she was my favorite oart of the movie (yes, a she).
only if it has more amazing quips like that
Thinking about it. Critics whinging that there isn't enough human drama is promising sign.
>Himself
Nah, Rodan is a dude.
>"Professional" reviews being an accurate representation of quality.
Reminder that Black Panther has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
>Reviews having an affect on box office
The Transformers movies have abysmal scores yet they made money.
Rodan confirmed tranny.
Also Aquaman.
There's a ton of human drama, the thing is that it's executed horribly.
Let me just compare this to another giant lizard movie with a similar RT score, where the complaint is the same; the story. At the end of JW2, I felt unsatisfied. There weren't particularly inventive uses of the dinosaurs, the indoraptor despite being described as super deadly and genetically modified didn't do anything impressive. Couldn't even smell out a bunch of sweaty humans in a dark room.
At the end of KOTM I felt fucking pumped. There were plenty of kaiju fights, each monster had a moment to shine where their unique traits were put to good use. Signature moves everywhere. The final shot was awesome; all the monsters bowing to Godzilla
Both movies had a weak story but at least KOTM satisfied my monster fix
hopefully two thirds at least
>Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)
Not only do you get a fight between Mothra and Godzilla, you also get a solid run-down on Mothra and how she works.
>Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992)
Not to be confused with the previously listed film, this one is more "modern". You get Godzilla, Mothra, and Battra (a kind of "evil" Mothra). It also gives you the lore on Mothra. After this, Mothra gets her own spin-off series called "The Rebirth of Mothra". I haven't seen it, but I hear it's good.
>Rodan and Mothra
Have solo movies from the 60s(?). I've seen Rodan, and it gives you a pretty good idea of where he comes from. I haven't seen Mothra (seriously, I need to watch more of Mothras solo outings).
>Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964)
Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra team-up to kick Ghidorah's ass.
>Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991)
King Ghidorah lore is weird. In the Showa era, he's just some sort of space monster that gets passed around by different alien forces. In this version, he's the result of time travelers looking to destroy Japan. The plot of this film is bonkers, but you get Ghidorah and Mecha Ghidorah.
>Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001)
Godzilla is the embodiment of pissed off Japanese World War II spirits. Mothra, Ghidorah, and Baragon (who doesn't get top-billing) are summoned to kick the Big G's ass.
>Destroy All Monsters (1968)
This one might not be your cup of tea (it takes a while to get to the absolute highlight of the film), but it's something you should watch regardless. Everyone from Toho's catalog up to 1968 is here (though some monsters appear only through stock footage).
All those jobbers get bodied in GMK
Yes, with a bro.
On a side note: Destroy all Monsters Melee was a fun game.
Just got done with King Kong vs Godzilla.
How does Kong get stronger from lightning?
They do indeed get bodied. I should have said "they get summoned to kick the Big G's ass...and it doesn't go as planned." It's still a pretty great movie.
I'm going to jerk off while watching it
>shit form
>no weights
she might as well just run on a treadmill
>On a side note: Destroy all Monsters Melee was a fun game.
fuck yeah it was
except my brother lent our copy to his friend and it came back scratched and stopped working shortly afterwards
still mad about that to this very day
There's one that released last year, Godzilla the Planet Eater (or something like that), have you seen that and if so what did you think?
I haven't gotten around to watching that one yet. It's got a really neat premise from what I hear.
>. I haven't seen Mothra (seriously, I need to watch more of Mothras solo outings).
Mothra is getting a blu-ray steelbook release
I'll just check it out after the rest then, thanks for your input.
The Godzilla anime is essentially the problem people had with the 2014 film turned up to 11. Godzilla spend most of the movie being bitten by Ghidorah.
Apparently Toho had mandated for there to be less monster fighting because they wanted to be taken seriously.
I've seen a lot of hate for this movie. Thought the first was alright. Is there something I missed?
yeah, people are retards who don't know what to expect from a Godzilla movie
I literally just want to see giant monsters fighting. Same with Pacific Rim and Kong and I like both of those.
Really? I guess it's the perfect time to watch them then. I have the first two Rebirth of Mothra films. The Heisei DVD set I have didn't bother to include the third one for some weird reason.
I mean, they already had a "serious" installment with Shin Godzilla. If you're putting Godzilla in animated form, wouldn't you want it to be more expressive and...animated.
It's simply a bad film. Most of the people defending it a blind fanboys that already decided that they loved it when the first trailer came out.
It was originally supposed to be Frankenstein vs Godzilla. Toho has their own series with hammer horror monsters
then you're in luck, KOTM delivers
It was kino besides the SJW comments. Also milky bobby brown is the best actor of the human people tbqh.
Wasn't Frankenstein only like 10 feet tall or something?
How would you even find body parts big enough to make Frankenstein 5 stories tall?
My thoughts:
>Needed more cheese. I think the whole "human characters are not good" complaint could be solved if the characters were more fun and over the top, they don't need to be deep or anything, just entertaining to watch like the Always Sunny in Philadelphia guy and the kaiju organ smuggler in Pacific Rim
>That said the best characters are Watanabe and the other main guy, the chinese girl had potential because of the fact that her ancestors all looked the same and studied monsters gave me Twin Fairies and King Caesar vibes
>I wish Rodan had joined the good guys at the end
>Monster fights were great, as long as Japan keeps doing rubber suits and puppets I'm ok with America doing CG
>That Monarch woman who shows up in he beginning, her death is so uncerimonial and unmeaningful to the plot it intrigues me why they did it exactly. It wasn't a sacrifice, it doesn't serve as motivation to anyone else, not even a moment of sadness. I didn't even bother to spoil it
>I see some critics complain about the plot being a convoluted mess but to me it was pretty simple, I guess they're just dense or didn't want to pay attention
>The humans mostly give exposition about the "titans", I saw some user comparing it to a nature documentary which is probably the reason why I'm fine with that since I've always liked those as a kid
>The villain's motivation is dumb but to me is not worse than "Thanos Robert Malthus" and I liked Infinity War(Endgame not so much). They could be better if they went with doomsday kaiju cultist fanatics wearing weird outfits and shit, that would be fucking sweet
>What's with all the Kaiju sex/genitals jokes?
He get's big like he did in "Frankenstein vs Baragon" idk how tho
And who was the best actor for the non humans?
Well Rodan always smoked on set so probably not him.
Ghidora easily. The way the three heads act different was so awesome.
OHHH NOOOOE IS GODZIRRA!
>Monster led monster movies bad, Human led Monster movies good
Mothra easily
>What's with all the Kaiju sex/genitals jokes?
Oh my...
No. Fuck off, shill.
Just watched it. Total dogshit. Awful dialogue, awful plot, miscast actors.
Of course not, because I'm not 7 years old.
Hype
gonna see endgame instead
Why when I can watch God Godzilla instead?
THERE GOES TOKYO

Do you happen to have the 2000's ones? I have watched most of the 80's and 90's ones, I've watched the original from 1954, both American ones and Shin Goji. I really don't enjoy the 60's and 70's ones.
Shut your shit up Malay faggot, you’re not even a Godzilla fan
It’s a new theme but it contains bits of the original theme rearranged. Same for Rodan’s Theme which is sped up with drums/chanting added.
they wasted the oxygen destroyer desu, it does nothing when it's supposed to be real shit
Only 13 hours left, bros!
Do the popcorn bucket trick. I fucking dare you.
>american Mothra
>she's angry
her theme was GOAT though
should I see it alone tomorrow bros
never been to a cinema alone before
I hope Godzilla vs. King Kong or Destroy All Monsters brings back the Maser cannon. It really became a bit of a character in its own right within the Toho films. Humanity's only truly effective weapon against kaiju, and it's pretty weak. It's not terribly powerful but damn if it doesn't try, and sometimes it even wins.
Of course you should. Why would it be a problem?
I'm going alone too, user. You can sit next to me.
The monster fights were cool and all and I like that they're trying to recreate the Heisei era cheese with the kaiju lore, but does anyone else find it off-putting how a movie about a character that was originally meant to represent the devastation and destruction of nuclear weapons dropped on Japan by the American military is now a movie that blatantly glorifies the American military and is riddled with American corporate product placement while the Japanese/Asian characters are just token sidekicks to the American protagonists?
millie bobbie brown has more screentime than godzilla yes
This is the superior film desu. It's true to the source material and doesn't turn Godzilla into corporate American military sponsored capeshit.
The finisher was slightly underwhelming, Godzilla should've chokeslammed Ghidorah before stepping on him
I haven't watched Skull Island, but this fight beats everything in KotM.
youtube.com
It's leagues better. After watching KotM, I left the theater thinking that maybe they really have to use dudes in rubber suits to pull off good monster fights but then I'm reminded of this fight which is actually good.
The problem with the fights in KotM is that the camera is too close all the time and some fights have constant cuts to the characters. Also, the only build up in most the fights is seeing icons on a radar closing in on each other. Most of the time when you see the monsters they're on each other's ass in an instant. When Mothra and Rodan join the brawl they're quickly put out of action. Basically, the editing and directing of the fights in KotM is poor.
The only part where I actually got hyped was seeing the supercharged Godzilla make his way to Ghidorah. The movie could have used some more relatively slow moments like that where the monsters are doing something else than executing/taking an attack.
Pretty disappointing overall, but at least the tomboy was cute as hell.
>mfw hearing Mothra's theme in the cinema
This soundtrack is probably one of the best movie soundtracks to come out in a very long time.
Serious talk: do Mcufags watch any other marvel movie that doesn’t have social progress or avengers as the premise? None of them talk about Ant Man, OR into the Spiderverse (Sony)
I main Gigan
Do so, but don’t get caught by the guards. They’re always looking for popcorn miners.
>a character that was originally meant to represent the devastation and destruction of nuclear weapons dropped on Japan by the American military
Errr, it wasn't exactly that. The movies were all about the fallout of humanity and nature's wrath agaisnt their arrogance. It was never specifically about japan's hurt pride. It was more about humanity's hurt pride at the face of nature.
And it's an American adaptation with Toho's endorsement, They really don't mind obviously.
If they did they wouldn't have cooperated with a hollywood studio, they obviously like what they saw.
The final fight in KSI is absolutely amazing and the gold standard monster movies should aim for.
