It will have a lot of politics and people will hate it because it's too liberal for them.
You tell me, chief.

Better than your thread.
it's gonna be terrible but whatever vineyard gets to name themselves picard wine is gonna be rich beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyooooooooooooooooootch
Netflix dropped it.
No money.
exactly the number i was thinking
>may I have your name please sir?
>it's Jean-Luc Motherfucking Picard, bitch.
Near to zero. Patrick Stewart is a gigacuck who learnt nothing from the lessons of TNG despite being the man that gave them voice. The show will be thinly veiled white genocide propaganda. You’ll have never seen so many fucking arabs and noggers in Starfleet and everyone will act like that alone makes it better than the original. It will be critically acclaimed but forgotten within a couple of years.
Low. The storyline is probably going to be a very thinly veiled condemnation of Trump, Brexit etc. Expect huge amounts of awkward, forced diversity.
About 15 years too late. Would’ve been nice to have this after ENT ended. I’ll watch the first episode and decide if it sucks or not.
>mayihaveyourname, pleasesir?
What the fuck is with this fucking delivery?
>pretending you ever like Trek when you're a retarded conservative
AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHA
I'll be honest I'm literally pic related.
You faggots can have fun rolling in your pessimism and loathing.
I'm fucking amped for our saviour Jean-Luc Picard.
pretty sure by this point in the majority of the fanbases lifespan most of them have become conservatives.
>he's trying to cry at me from his trailer
AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
TNG-era Trek was story first, and libcuckery second. Modern Trek is libcuckery first, and story a very distant second. It was possible for a conservative to get something out of old Trek because it wasn't solely or primarily about the politics.
not sure if this is desperate or if they really are that uncreative.
IT IS... IT IS WRONG! IT IS WRONG! I HATE IT!
>orange man goood!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>Hey guys I have an idea
>Let's take an old TV show depicting an optimistic future of humanity
>With characters people love
>And reboot it darker and edgier
>With the characters people liked being degraded and all depressed and shit
Ironically this. I was young and dumb when TNG was on the air. I thought it was a great utopian feel until I grew up and learned about economics and commies. Still love Trek though.
>drag Patrick Stewart out of retirement
>force him to make a ham fisted anti-brexit propaganda piece
I really hope it's not a political stunt like all the leaks say it is.
The leaks say that the premise of the show is that Vulcan doesn't want all the Romulan refugees from the destruction of Romulus and Picard comes out of retirement because these are the machinations of an unseen evil force. An unseen evil force that doesn't want multicultural harmony.
Settle down psycho
Not to mention that 20th century liberalism isn't nearly as cringy as current year liberalism, and you had writers/producers with enough common sense to keep it subtle.
>trailer tard zeke posting from his prepaid phone over stolen wifi
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
Why the FUCK would the Romulans be going to Vulcan? They have an entire fucking space empire to resettle in.
but enough about DS9
That wasn't a reboot and it was still plenty optimistic, just a flawed utopia instead of a perfect one
+ The leaked premise about the Vulcans seceding as people lose faith in the Federation and Picard investigating the destruction of Romulus could have potential if its real.
+ Patrick Stewart is great and he seems to be sold on the project.
- It has many of the same writers and producers as Star Trek Discovery.
- Potential for inane progressive propaganda rather than meaningful political or social commentary.
- Contractually obligated to be 25% different from TNG and the rest of the original canon.
- No one else from the TNG cast is confirmed yet and it would clearly suck if they don't show up.
I think there's a decent chance that it won't be shit but I think the chances of it being great are slim. I suspect it will have the mediocre writing and inane progressive left orthodoxy that's typical of contemporary Hollywood; but it will be raised above the mediocrity of STD by Patrick Stewart's talent.
Kys Root Beer faggot.
I view those leaks as plausible simply because I don't think Kurtzman understand what you just said. Romulus is one planet out of dozens or hundreds. The Romulan Star Empire is massive. The loss of their homeworld would hurt but it wouldn't be the end, not by a long shot. They wouldn't need to go full Syrian Refugees and land on Vulcan by the millions.
But I think Kurtzman thinks Romulus is the only planet the Romulans have. I don't think Kurtzman is very smart and I don't think he gives a single shit about Star Trek universe.
>the guy pretending to be an intelligent conservative posting from a phone specifically made for fags and retards
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>the end is only the beginning
Why quote the mummy? I mean, Stewart may be old, but not THAT old, that's kinda rude
>I think there's a decent chance that it won't be shit
Kurtzman. KURTZMAN.
What planet do you live on where you think Kurtzman will pull this off and not turn it into some politically correct patronizing tomfoolery?
Are you daft? Everything kurtzman touches turns to shit.
Yeah, the Pajeets delivery kills it. Picard being bemused by not being instantly recognizable at Star Fleet could work if its delivered properly but that was terrible.
>force him
You might want to read some recent interviews with Patrick Stewart
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT?
TREK USING MODERN POLITICS AS AN INSPIRATION?!
THIS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE! I AM OUTRAGED! PRAISE KEK!
/sarcasm
Remember when Kurtzman and his gay lover Orci ruined Xena? I'll never forget
>The leaked premise about the Vulcans seceding as people lose faith in the Federation and Picard investigating the destruction of Romulus could have potential if its real.
Romulus isn't part of the Federation nor has it ever been part of the Federation or even been on friendly terms with the Federation other than the Dominion conflict why the fuck would Romulus popping have any effect on the Federation whatsoever it would be no different than the collapse of the Soviets effect on the USA.
>- It has many of the same writers and producers as Star Trek Discovery.
Do you lack reading comprehension? I don't expect it to be good. I expect it to be mediocre but propped up by one good performance from Stewart.
Wrong, actually watch the show and movies.
>Romulan Star Empire
Perfect opportunity to explore their empire and the Klingons, they both have massive empires yet you never see any of the alien species they've conquered, ever, it is literally just Romulans or Klingons.
the poster, tagline, trailer and title are all terrible
Fuck off disney
If there aren't any threatening giant space empires that you need to be protected from then why would you want to surrender your planet's sovereignty to the bureaucracy of a giant space empire?
The Romulans are gone, the Dominion is gone, the Cardassians are gone, the Klingons are playing nice. What do you need the Federation for?
stability
it wont just like the twilight reboot, plus its on the crap cbs streaming service
>appeal to authority
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Original Star Trek shows were made when concepts of progressivism and diversity were groundbreaking. Even in the 90s it had ideas that were considered edgy and controversial. There's nothing interesting or new about these progressive ideas anymore, it's all become blase. Star Trek simply should have ended with DS9 and Voyager
UNDEFEATED, CRY MORE FEDFAGS
If it's shit mike might actually kill himself.
>the authority is from fag island
AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA
>i'm not sick, why do i need these vaccines
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHHA
I always thought their green visors were so cool and wish we'd gotten a chance to get to know them better.
It's only logical
my dad has been a fan ever since he watched TOS on a black and white TV and he unironically thinks the middle east should be turned to glass, he rants how every illegal or "those unwashed savages" should be shot as they try to cross the border
Have sex.
>my dad's a retard too
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>posted from my reddit phone
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That dude starved and murdered 3 million people in India.
like most liberals
Trek is only progressive in certain ways. The Klingons were pretty explicitly cast as The Soviets and Asiatics more broadly and just got increasingly savage as the series went on. Even in the Undiscovered Country, where Kirk ostensibly makes peace with them after the end of the Cold War irl, they portray them as even more barbaric and savage than ever.
Who started this meme? The planets in the federation have their own government, it's more like an EU that actually works than anything else.
>people
you should be an STD writer
>The Dominion is gone
Hardly. Always on conquered territory. They can come back any time
>that poster
>the first freedom denied...
>Indians and Pakis immediately start to slaughter each other after they get the independence.
Its White People's Fault!
I HATE FUCKING NERD SHIT JESUS WHY STOP
I'm sorry I forgot it's okay if the genocide is done to not white people. That's why everyone is mad at Stalin. If he just starved non white people like Churchill I'm sure he would be a hero too.
it will be shit but normies will eat it up, so except a lot of threads on Yea Forums about it.
Based.
Also please go back to /trek/.
It's more like NATO, which actually existed at the time Trek was created.
None of them have any form of currency or private industry, they all share the same economic policy, they're subject to Federation law.
What exactly do their local governments have power over?
Its like it’s an insurance commercial featuring Pat Stew reprising his role as a gag. From the shit delivery to the shitty knock-off costume, it is a very bad sign.
It wasn’t a genocide. It was an unfortunate allocation of resources during a time of war.
Please google the definition of genocide. Churchill had no interest in wiping out the Indian race.
100%. Also, filtered.
It's not exactly the delivery that is off, but the editing.
>What exactly do their local governments have power over?
reproduction permits and licenses for butter knives
So do you consider what Stalin did to Ukraine to be genocide, because it's basically the same thing where he allocated resources to 'native Russians'. I'm not being flippant. I'm 100% serious.
So why does the federation allows for an entire race to be the slaves of another race that uses them as hosts for their parasites?
No.
This uniform is hideous
0%
they're symbiotes not parasites
One of the issues with Ukraine was the deliberate targeting of 'kulaks' that the higher-ups had convinced themselves were hoarding grain. Holodomor and the Bengal Famine were similar but many more proactive efforts were taken by the USSR to keep people in the Famine regions than was the case in Bengal. That being said, it is still to this day a hot topic in genocide studies of whether or not Holodomor constitutes genocide and how it relates to other large, preventable famines. Most scholars would, I think, not consider Bengal to be genocidal much as they wouldn't consider the Irish potato famine to be genocidal. Holodomor is more tricky and has a much wider association with genocide.
Amd retard JJ Abrams implied that Romulus is their only planet, and he sucks at scale.
Because they are willing to buy trillion credit Constitution class ships, over-engineered white elephants that lose to Warbirds 10/10 times in simulation.
>JJ Abrams
oh you mean the dumb fuck that doesn't like travel time so he just fucking removed it entirely from both Star Trek adn Star Wars, that's the guy that can't do scale? that guy? the guy that doesn't fucking understand the linear progression of time?
Thank you for this intelligent and sincere answer.
I'm gonna say 1%. They couldn't even handle the incredibly easy task of just making a normal Star Trek show.
Bottom line, Patrick Stewart's on board, and that means quality.
Patrick Stewart and Quality have never been synonymous outside of TNG
What about every TNG movie?
bait
I would think interstellar travel would lead to a large exodus from the homeworld. The population left behind would be conservationists, returning most of the planet to nature. A few billion Romulans would be killed compared with 10s of billions spread throughout the empire. 800 million spoonies were killed in one day, but they were nowhere near extinction.
can you name anything else he's been in that's genuinely good?
I guess Logan was good but what else?
i just remembered after posting that one of the big differences is between not doing enough to prevent/respond to a famine and actively causing a famine then making it worse. So in Bengal they didn't do enough to respond to a humanitarian disaster, in part because of Churchill's massive hatred of Indians, whereas in the Ukraine the famine started when government agents seized seed grain when grain targets weren't met due to a poor crop. The seizing of the seed grain then meant much less could be planted and even less was grown, leading to more seizures as the government became convinced even more grain was being hidden by the kulaks.
>Well not helping them isnt technicaly aiding the process of mass murder, now is it?
Good job Winston.
>Excalibur
>Little Lord Fauntleroy
>The Pagemaster
how much of an impact did mike "second himmler the judenkiller" stoklasa have on the take of the show? from the looks of the poster it seems like it's starting exactly where tng ended. i hope stewart lives long enough so there won't be need for a cgi stand in.
that's basically what it comes down to when you're defining a genocide lmao, so much goes into whether or not something was genocidal that it kinda makes people forget that even if it's not TECHNICALLY a genocide it's still an incredibly horrific crime against humanity
Stewart elevated TNG in a way that the casts of subsequent spin-offs never could, but the dialogue on TNG was always well-written and gave Stewart plenty to work with.
In contrast, the dialogue on STD is atrocious, and until CBS fires Goldsman and finds some people who can actually write Trek dialogue, I hold out no hope for the new Picard series.
lol pagemaster
stewart was the only character with any growth. the rest are just mindless drones with the exception of pulaski
no one likes pulaski, no one

This, all of this, and nothing but this.
DS9 was still optimistic while exploring the real flaws the federation would have
Emotions are only means to an end. I wouldn't expect an incel tranny eunuch such as yourself to understand such a concept.
Please tell me that poster isn't real.

saw you post this in the tripfag thread before it got deleted and meant to tell you it was gay there too
you're double gay bro
...and?
I'd consider that a mercy looking at the current state of India's population issues.
I've already accepted that Star Trek is dead and it will never be good again.
Oh great, Jean-Luc is a racist now. Fan-fucking-tastic.
Star Trek has had forced diversity since the 60's so you're probably right about that one.
how is the Federation going to recover after Vulcan breaks up with them?

It's a modification of early DS9-Voyagerm, online and Countdown uniforms. Should have started rolling out new uniforms based on pic related.

I am not even a Star Trek fan, but please, someone, I beg you, tell me that this is not real. Please do not tell me that we have hit this low a level of mediocrity of borderline Tumblr tier writing. Star Trek is hammy, but it had heart and said things even when it was stupid. This looks like the opposite of Galaxy Quest and those cuts were just sad.
