This flick was so shit it pisses me off. The 1995 anime is one of my favourite movies, im not even Yea Forums
All they had to do was copy the original movie shot for shot but instead they butchered several plots while trying to shoehorn in iconic kino scenes making it incoherent. Add that to mrs "I can't act" jewhanson it was a shit show.

Marvel have pulled some magic adapting superhero comics for screen, but everyone else, unless you're adapting a book, then don't. Just don't. I just don't get it. Anime is good, because anime things happen in it, things you only see in anime. Turns out anime things are hard to do in live action, and if you toss the anime things, then your adaption leaves an equally bad taste.

So here's a novel idea... make moves that are intended to be movies from the outset. From the ground up.

In reality, a lot of manga has been adapted to live action since the 70s, and a lot of it you would never realize came from a manga, because a lot of manga is more or less realistic and no problem at all to turn into live action.

The entire point of Ghost in the Shell is that your identity can exist independently of your physical body, making things like culture and ethnicity irrelevant.

I mean, what's yours? My point is that's a pointless point to make. You're talking about a specific show with that guy and so you make a broad statement about the entire medium which encompasses shows with wholly different scenarios, set in wholly different locales and even fantasy worlds, as though it adds some credence to anything you've said so far. I mean I don't have much of an opinion on the Major's race, I'm not sure what the intent behind it actually is unless we're told by word of God, but her being named "Motoko Kusanagi" is already a stronger argument than "other anime feature definitely white people".
