Bad movies, great soundtrack

Can we agree?

Yes, and great sound design.
John Williams and Ben Burtt were the only good things about Star Wars in general

Revenge of the Sith was good though.

this

this so much

The OT were authentically good movies and you're a contrarian if you think otherwise. Just because they have a huge cringecore fanbase doesn't detract from what they were. ROTJ was a little disjointed but the cinematography was great where it mattered. ANH was revolutionary for the medium, ESB really had it all.

High quality post.

It’s probably my favourite films to sit and watch with friends.

>He burst into tears. His mother drew herself up to an immense height. 'What a dreadful thing to say to a child!' she barked, and dragged the poor kid away. Maybe she was right but I just hope the lad, now in his thirties, is not living in a fantasy world of secondhand, childish banalities.” - Alec Guinness

RotJ is shit, even worse than the prequels. Still better than nuwars, though.

Unlike most Hollywood directors/producers, George Lucas had a knowledge and appreciation of classical music and told John Williams to go crazy on these movies.

RotJ is the greatest incel and neckbeard filter. Every normal person I know who has watched Star Wars loves that film.

>RotJ is shit
yeah
>even worse than the prequels
No, have some fucking perspective.

>don't know if bait or unironically retarded

Perfect post.

>Vader in ESB
“Luke, let’s overthrow the emperor and rule the galaxy as father and son!”
>Vader in RotJ
“I must obey my master lmao.”
Great writing.

vader was lying, trying to tempt luke by offering him power

>character evolves as a result of being confronted with his actions by his son
>bad writing
holy fucking pleb

Where was this stated? Vader’s personality in RotJ makes no sense and does not line up with his portrayal in ANH and ESb, especially without prequels.

It's really sad when a post like this which states common fucking knowledge stands out as being good. This place just keeps getting worse and worse.

Evolves? More like degrades. It would have made sense if he was an obedient lap dog of the emperor in ESB and decided to overthrow him in RotJ after learning that he has a son.

it's the only explanation that makes sense. sheev tells vader that turning luke would make him a great asset. then in roj sheev tells luke to kill him. none of it really makes sense. frankly i blame kasdan for interfering with lucas' vision

1 isn’t great, 2 is pretty good but people only hate it because of the Anakin and Padme scenes, the action scenes are based. 3 is pure kino and Padme’s Ruminations is the best theme to come out of any Star Wars soundtrack

How to make TPM good
>make Anakin 12-14 yo
>less Jar-Jar
How to make AotC good
>write better dialogue for Anakin and Padme romance
>include most deleted scenes that would help to flash out Padme and Dooku’s characters.

>implying he isn't a lapdog of the emperor from day 1
did he at any one point not do what he was ordered by the emperor? The furthest he ever gets to contradicting him is when he suggests instead of killing Luke they should turn him. Which goes to show that he still has feelings for his son, and when he sees that his son would never join him in turning to the dark side it starts bringing up doubts.
It's nothing groundbreaking as far as writing goes, but it's reasonably correct character development.

It’s clear that in ESB Vader, despite being the Emperor’s subordinate, had his own agendas different from Sheev’s wishes, like when he told Luke that he wants to overthrow the Emperor and rule the galaxy, and then he suddenly becomes completely obedient minion to the Emperor to the point where he doesn’t even want to kill the Emperor except for that soap opera moment in the throne room where he decides to kill the Emperor again, the thing he apparently wanted to do for years and it’s being treated as some selfless deed.

He never says he wants to overthrow the emperor. What he says can be perfectly interpreted as meaning that he sees himself as the emperor's successor. And it makes much more sense than interpreting it as him wanting to overthrow the emperor, when at no point previous to that moment it's established that he has a grudge towards him.
It's only after his encounter with Luke that he starts resenting the emperor, precisely because of Luke. He starts regretting his choices and isn't really so into it anymore, that's why he feels like such a lapdog in RotJ.

Again, nothing earth shattering, but still very correct writing. You're grasping for straws here user. Just let it go.

>Luke, you can destroy the Emperor
>Join me, and together you and I will rule the galaxy as father and son!
Are you retarded? He clearly wanted Luke to destroy/usurp the Emperor. It’s who’s grasping at straws, there’s no deeper meaning in Vader’s words besides his wish to overthrow the Emperor.
