I loved the first 3 seasons of Outlander because it was something different (Scotland before the Jacobite rebellion)...

I watched it with my cousin and besides rolling my eyes at the love plot I enjoyed the historical elements of Scoland

this was pretty much my take on it too, after i watched the first few episodes. i don't think most anons, being male, would find anything interesting for them in this show.

It's a soap opera disguised as a period drama.
I went into it expecting a sci fi timetravel thing and was met with what is at it's core a women porn.(the stress on the sex,cunnilingus,sodomy)
Watched the first season because it could be pretty good at times when it was dealing with societal norms of that period.(for example witchcraft,they also mentioned the barbary slave trade at one point) but other than that it was fairly mediocre.
Don't think I can stand another season of it.

This show is comfy, but I have to admit it's very female-serviced.

This. I was told I'd love it because I "do history" when in actuality its more of woman's drama than anything history related. It seems to be that they wanted a show where a woman with modern sensibilities gets ploughed by Scottish highlanders and this show was how they did it.
