What does Yea Forums think of Yorgos Lanthimos?

ARTHOUSE

There you have it: mega(dot)nz/#!xA100SiK!B6RHE0cBWnyIlSHHMcKX9PUzGKs4NmkEFmc9dB2vXVM

Those look like entry-levels, anyway they're sometimes kinda accurate but also subjective af past level 4.

He completely sucks and there are hundred of european film directors more competent than him.

>Comfy thread in capehead board.

I've seen Manoel and Blow-Up and neither impressed me. What should I watch next?

>this thread

Francisca, From the notebook of and La valle close are the best ones there.

Thanks

Thanks for bumping the thread, absolute lurker.

fuck off janitor

I'm not ready.

Why is arthouse so goddamn boring?

Because you're a boring, empty person.

Arthouse is also boring and empty so I should love it.

You just haven't learn to appreciate what is all about it yet, no worries happens to all of us.

pic related is arthouse, not that crap

Anus Films lol

Excellent movie user.
To my surprise i survived the 4 hours of the movie without feeling bored throughout a single minute of it.

Here's a magnet. magnet:?xt=urn:btih:694E89BC243ECFD56085BA1C86BF2CF2F13FEDCC&tr=http%3A%2F%2Fbt4.t-ru.org%2Fann%3Fmagnet&dn=%D0%90%D1%83%D1%82%201%2C%20%D0%BD%D0%B5%20%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%81%D0%B0%D0%B9%D1%81%D1%8F%20%D0%BA%D0%BE%20%D0%BC%D0%BD%D0%B5%20%2F%20Out%201%2C%20noli%20me%20tangere%20(%D0%96%D0%B0%D0%BA%20%D0%A0%D0%B8%D0%B2%D0%B5%D1%82%D1%82%20%2F%20Jacques%20Rivette%2C%20%D0%A1%D1%8E%D0%B7%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%BD%20%D0%A8%D0%B8%D1%84%D1%84%D0%BC%D0%B0%D0%BD%20%2F%20Suzanne%20Schiffman)%20%5B1971%2C%20%D0%A4%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BD%D1%86%D0%B8%D1%8F%2C%20%D0%B4%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BC%D0%B0%2C%20%D0%B4%D0%B5%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%BA%D1%82%D0%B8

it's 30.33 GB.

If you want i can hit you up with a lot of mega links, but those are in worse quality.

Blow-up is the only film in that pic I’ve even heard of

What happened to charlie? Did he just accept being cucked?

What does this mean

The favourite, which is his least cringey and least daring film, is his best. Says a lot about what terrible aristic tendencies he has, when he's best at his most restrained. Good artists are best when least restrained.

I'm assuming framing and movement, like Ford frames his characters center (pic related) and tarkovsky frames his characters bottom center

i have seen one of these

I like where your head is at, but it doesn't hold true across the board. For instance, Riefenstahl just gets a swastika (for obvious reasons), and Rivette a question mark.

Eisenstein is referring to the editing. So I guess it's just whatever can be most easily represented and recognized.

It's probably there as a "joke", anyway, no?

Not sure if it meets this thread's standards of "arthouse" but I just watched pic related and enjoyed it quite a bit. My girlfriend recommended Jia Zhangke and this is the first one of his I've watched.

The Favourite is his worst film but none of his films are good.

Thanks, I'll check them out. Any other good mainland directors? I feel like I've seen loads of Taiwan/Hong Kong cinema but the largest country on the planet barely gets any representation. Surely there's loads of good stuff that's just not popular in the west

tips feedooda

Is there a better forum around for actually talking about movies? Yea Forums used to at least have the 3x3 threads but lately it's been trash

I posted my bite size review of Autumn Sonata but no one noticed it, if you haven’t seen it yet, I hope this piques your interest. Please, do let me know if you agree/disagree with what I had to say about it.
>The dynamic between an estranged mother and daughter put under a microscope. As always, the purity of emotions overwhelms, the way both women exhaust themselves to each other in tandem is nothing short of pure. Though it was from the female perspective, I felt such a connection to both, silently agreeing to have done the same as they, particular scene with the daughter lashing out and saying that her mothers "love" was only her exerting her ideals upon the daughter, something I now in retrospect see have done to people I love. The end culminating in a moment of heightened "truth", it is, like often happens, cast to side when both parties mull over it alone and fit the experience to their whole life and see it incompatible. Marvelous. Helena, I saw more as an symbolic character, signifying the bond between the mother and daughter, slowly having deteriorated and now, the dialogue between the two, barely comprehensible. Her shouting for her mother to come at the end being an internal cry from both to embrace and reconnect. I absolutely loved it, so much that I gave this film a 10/10, an addition to the caste that I can count on my fingers from the pile of thousands. Perfection.

watched Road (1987) yesterday, checked it out after watching Made in Britain by the same director Alan Clarke. enjoyed it but not as much as Made in Britain

it's a slow, surrealistic, bleak trip through some shitty neighborhood in england, random assortment of wacko characters talking about how boring life is, and that nothing ever changes, would recommend
