I've seen 26 out of the 30 films in this list now, I'd personally put Duvidha, Org, and From the Notebook Of... as my top 3.

thank you for the chart
How could one bypass the 5GB jew download limit on MEGA.nz?
I got a mega link for a great experimental film, but it's more than 15GBs so I literally can't download it
just share the link
more:
I will do it gladly when I am able to download it first
>being this jewish
megatools.megous.com
this should allow you to complete a single large download without having the server cutting you, but won't allow you to bypass the cooldown once it hits
Thank you dear user, very based of you. Trying this in a few and I'll post the link
Where does one download the obscurest kinos?
KG
you can find all of these on rutracker
Once I exhaust the list of films I want to see, maybe I'll actually get into arthouse. It would be nice to ascend to that level of patrician kinographer status.
>no Begotten

blow-up is entry level tbqh
What's the appeal of Satantango except being extremely long?
>took one international film course
>first flick is Blow-Up
>find out in 2016 that the flick was banned from the official curriculum
>invite only
Satantango is an unbelievably good film, when you watch it you’ll forget about the runtime.
Begotten is mediocre, though. You’ll get more out of watching gifs from it than you’ll get from watching the film itself.

I have recently seen this kino. What are people's opinions about it?
It's great atmospheric film, quite funny also. Werckmeister Harmonies and The Turin Horse are amazing too.
>mfw no Roy Andersson recommendation in the arthouse thread.
this is very basic taste
watch something from the new wave
I have seen Songs from the Second Floor recently, it was quite good. Are his other films from the trilogy done in the same style?
One of my favorites
Demons (1971) by Matsumoto. Absolute kino.
I saw pigeon as my first Andersson and I was bored to tears. Totallly turned me off to the guy to this day.

Great. Angelopoulos is fantastic, i also oved Eternity and a Day, The Weeping Meadow and Landscape in the Mist. The Beekeeper was kind of disappointing.
Fun
>Monteiro
Imagine him making films now. They would be called problematic all the time. His films are pretty based i have to say.
Le chevalier noir se lève
Yes, "Songs from the Second Floor" is part of a trilogy (along with "you the living" and "a pigeon sat on a Branch and reflected on Existence") all of them are done in the same style, tragi-comic vignettes about normal life.
He is very inspired by paintings and sets up his scenes like paintings without any moving cameras. The trilogy is finished, but he is releasing a new movie this year ("about the eternal" or "about eternity"... Don't know how it will be translated)
My absolute favourite director. I sincerely believe that 'normal' plebs also can like these movies even if they don't like art house cinema. I really don't understand people like this guy .
His scenes have a painterly quality so it is not fast and action packed. But it is not boring.
Yes i enjoyed the style. It was dark yet somehow subtly funny. Some of the vignettes i found better than others, but the overall narrative of the guy who burns his own shop was very good. I also like the society that it portrays, it was quite unique. The film seemed quite artificial which was another interesting quality. I really like the way he frames his shots. About Endlessness is his new film i think, some vignettes are supposed to be set in WW2 so that will be interesting. I have to finish the trilogy.
As far as normal people liking it, i think the lack of plot, the vignettes and lack of camera movement won't be for everybody. The film is also quite strange atmosphere and performances may put some people off.
heh!

The movie is kinda artificial (every scene, even the outdoors scenes are constructed indoors with painting backdrops), but I think the whole abstract thing makes it more real.
There is a certain lack of plot, but in a way it is similar to a long ad break on TV, but instead of trying to sell you stuff it shows you these human stories. I love the format. Roy Andersson is an absolute gem for anyone who is a bit adventurous. Most beautiful movies I know.
fellas how do i get my attention span back for watching arthouse?
its depleted in recent years
Idk mix it up with some easily digestible schlock that will still give you hipster point for consuming, like kung fu flicks or spaghetti westerns, while reading a book in order to still feel like you are cultivating a smart hobby.
Was expecting not to have seen any of this avant teen shit, but then I saw Nostos: Il Ritorno at the bottom and was pleasantly (?) surprised
is anything else on this chart actually imaginative and interesting, lads, or is it all just static long shots of people crying or emotionless-ly reciting political rhetoric
