It's not just the Disney/Fox merger, they also had to top WB/DC's Wonder Woman which did 821 mill worldwide. Anything less than a billion would have been seen as a failure and would have made the Fox boyout more expensive.

I'm still mad. Been looking forward to a Carol Danvers movie since I was introduced to Ms. Marvel near a decade ago. The movie sucked, Carol was bland and overshadowed by every other character. I can't even blame Brie for it all unless she had very heavy influence on the script as well.

Yeah, I realized that part but she at least had personality when I read the comics. I liked her character that was flawed and alcoholic and didnt really know where she belonged among heroes. Other than the blanket "quippy" descriptor that you can give all the MCU characters, I couldnt describe movie Carol's personality at all.

I think it's more due to panic over so many of the actors for the known characters having their contracts expire all at once (and not being renewed). Phase 4 as a result would have ended up rather empty, so they've thrown her into the mix late as an attempt to pad the upcoming film lineup.
