Burned out
He blew his entire wad of creative genius on LotR
The Hobbit
got carried away with visual spectacle, to the point it just became clamour
So just like George Lucas then?
LotR was a fluke
Pretty much but the prequels at least had some salvageable or endearing elements about them. The Hobbit movies had nothing.
He was always a hack. Fran Walsh is the real reason that Lord of the Rings was any good.
>Fran Walsh
lel you know she did the screenwriting for Motal Engines right?
This.
Hobbit was fucked by studio meddling, of course he could have filled it with better filler but when you're strung out, exhausted and being pressured to make an action film like the Lotr your hands are pretty much tied. If he'd been on it from the start and made it 2 films it'd probably be good.

Durin's Folk deserve better.
has anyone seen that movie where he remasters archival footage of ww2?
After watching all the "Making Of" materials on the blu rays, it is apparent how he fucking hated having to direct those movies. It is also obvious that he chose CGI because it is just easier to film in studio. He literally returned to directing right after operation. And he seriously lamented that Del Toro's Hobbit never happened.
He built WETA up and only cares about milking studios for SFX work
nothing, clearly he's done with big blockbusters for now and he's into documentaries. Unfortunately, he's doing something about the Beatles atm.
ww1. but yes, it was great.
left the horror/comic genre for high fantasy (with a good drama interlude)
>studio meddling
bullshit cop out excuse
Retard.
They were the ones insisting on turning Hobbit into an ebin trilogy. Original plan by Jackson was for Guillermo Del Toro to make just one movie.
He's bringing history to life OP
Hes busy adapting Tolkien first book. It would be better than the 2 first movies hopefully
met him some days ago in a dream, was a nice guy, seemed tired.
Why the fuck are they not releasing LOTR in 4K?
an adaptation of an essay on Beowulf sounds fucking boring my man
Damn you.
he put so much soul into LotR that he has none left
special effects rendered in 2K, they'll have to go back and remaster the effects frame by frame which is what they should be fucking doing
He just did this, which was great
